Well she came today. Amber has put on 190 grams in 4 days so she is healthy. The last couple of nights Amber has settled for some ok sleeping. She has a good sleep during the day too. But I am at witching hour at the moment. She is awake from about 4pm- whenever I can get her down, Tonight OMG. All she wants to do is be attached to me. I feed her, we wrap her, she wriggles and starts crying again. She then wants to be attached to me again. I have no supply left after that I reckon. But seeing as she has put on so much weight I am at a loss. We have had DP top her up with formula a few times so she is predominately breast milk with a little formula. I sometimes feel conflicted that I am doing this... I didnt tell the hospital midwife this because I felt it was wrong to do so.
Babies will not just eat and eat and eat like dogs do will they? They will stop once full right? I dont want to overfeed my baby.
I am trying to get her into a feeding pattern but if she just wants food what should I do?
The maternal health nurse is going to contact this week.
Sorry selfish rantings again.
Has anyone else had these problems in the first week or so?
Yep I am a lot tired this evening. We didnt sleep well last night.
-
Jen, maybe she's not getting enough from you? I don't know. I would tell the nurse about the formula though. It's not wrong. She was hungry otherwise it wouldn't have settled her. Don't feel bad. She's getting most from you anyway.
I do think they stop when they're full. They told me in the hospy that they will come off when they are ready. I truly don't think you can over feed them but that's another question to ask the nurse etc.
Don't worry about what they think - she's your baby and you are doing what you think is right. I just think you should tell them so they know exactly what she's getting - then maybe they can explain why she wants to feed all the time.
I hope you all get some sleep tonight.

Jen- when sophies had enough EBM she pushes the bottle out of her mouth. Dont be ashamed to be topping Amber up with the formula its not wrong.
Kate- me run away? haha not likely. I've told Chris to cook his own dinner and he didnt seem that keen wasnt too keen on my putting the breast pump on his man boobs either .
MarknJo- welcome, sorry i didnt log on last night. How scary your bubs was 6weeks early.
Mary- Yeah VERY quiet for me , the computers are all set up now & networking. The laptop is predominately for me & Chris has the desktop upstairs, i only had to wait to use the internet as he was setting up the network.
I was wondering myself where Maz is, was going to ask if she recieved my parcel. Please log on and let us know how your going.
Have to go Sophie is stirring and its almost feeding time.
-
Hi Girls oops I meant Mums, lol. Sorry I haven't been posting as much! I s'pose - I dont know why but I loved our last thread! Attachment issues haha...
I've had so many pages to catch up on... & no way I can respond to all of it!
Jen - It can be difficult to know at times what to do with bubs:( Especially if the crying on & off just seems like a constant thing. With our first it was hard. Not much sleep for me. I remember walking her up & down the hallway singing to her, rocking her whatever did the trick! Every baby is different. Jackson has in the last week or so become quite windy come night time & it takes us awhile to settle him down to sleep but I still dont think he was as bad as Cara. But maybe thats just because this is our 2nd time around and we're more exp'd & confident! Jackson is also breast/bottle. I think its the formula thats causing the wind so we've changed to see if it makes a diffence. Hope so. Dont feel horrible about using formula! Okay:) We do what we need to do for our babies! I've never had enough to go exclusive. And had alot of painful moments trying to b/feed.OUCH.
Mary - I'm still around! thanks for asking about us Mums who haven't been on in awhile:) Just trying to catch up with alot of friends as well & having 2 kids to care for during the day I dont always get the time on here. Have to find a few minutes before bedtime to come in & say Hi:) And it can be hard to do things when you want with a bubby too! Our Jackson is normally awake from about 5 or 6 til 9ish or so - & if I dont prepare dinner earlier while he's sleeping its hard to do later on while he's awake because he demands my time too! I guess you soon learn their sleeping pattern so you plan around that, lol.
Is everyone eating okay??!!
It can be hard when you have bubs to make sure that you are actually getting enough to eat... I think thats why I lose my weight quickly for that very reason. I just get so busy caring for everyone else that I come last! So just make sure - like I'm trying to do- that you do get the food into yourselves & the fluid as well. Especially if youre b/fing.
Kate, Jess,Jo, April - big hello's to you all. Sorry I haven't personals for you but I promise I'll catch up next time okay! Glad ur all going well though & your bubs.
Jen- Which formula are you using & does it seem to make Amber windy at all? Or maybe its too soon to tell yer. Couldn't tell with Jackson till about a wk ago:( Arghhh...'
Chat again soon:)

HI CAROL!!! So good to hear from you. Sounds like you guys are going well. :)
Morning everyone!
Hey Jo (oh, that made me wanna sing that song!), what's with Chris not wanting to express the man bb's? LMMFAO!!!
Hmmm... I'm going up the chemist while BTK is sleeping (touch wood) to get all my digi pics printed. I haven't hardly printed any photos since getting a digital camera a few years ago and I HATE IT. I miss photo albums. I'm going to make sure I print all my pics from now on.
Oh, I received a parcel from my mate in Texas this morning. You might remember he sent me a package a while back full of candy etc. He's so very generous. He sent an awesome play mat for Billy with a mirror and stuff on it...
Here it is...
He also sent me this book called Love is a Mix Tape, which he said is a little sad but great. As well as that, he sent this little bull toy wearing a Texas t-shirt and two kids t-shirts - one says "All Mommy Wanted Was A Backrub" and the other says "They Shake Me!". I remember when I was pg, I was looking up all the funny kids tees you could get on t-shirt hell in the US. I would send them to Gus and we would laugh. He must've remembered and got me some. How awesome is that? Billy is so spoilt - so am I. Gus is also officially, Uncle Gus!
Well, 'nuff from me. I do hope you girls got some sleep - especially Jen and Jess seeing as you've got the freshest ones!
Back later.

Carol- HELLO, so good to hear from you. Thanks for asking but i'm eating good, breakfast (which i dont normally eat), lunch and tea & snacks of course. I've even managed to have tea ready a few nights for around the time Chris walks in the door luckily as Sophie has been asleep or content in her bouncer for me to do so. You asked about us so how are you going? are you eating well?.
Kate- dont mean to make you feel old or make me look silly but which song? i made a spelling mistake i wrote 'was' instead of 'wasnt' usually i proof read what i type but was lazy yesterday, didnt have my mumma nap. I hope you managed the trip to the chemist. Let me know how the book goes it sounds interesting and i'll read just about anything. Your mate in Texas is very generous and that playmat is SO cool and something i think you would have bought if you had the chance ;), PMSL 'all mumma wanted was a backrub' & 'they shake me' classic. I got sleep between feeds, havent tried letting her sleep through the night as yet was going to try last night but she woke for the 2am feed so will have to put more thought into this me thinks.
-
heyyy everyone!
WELL Jaylen was SCREAMING from like 9pm til 1am last night, god i got frustrated, was messaging mum and she was about to come in but then he settled thank god, i was feeding him every hour, no idea what was wrong with him... does stuff u eat affect ur milk, mum reckons it might have been onions we had in the pasta?? but yer hes been good this morn, fed him on one side and he asleep in the bouncer in front of the air cooler lol... YAY i get to eat...
jen, yer Jaylen was and still is a bit like that, some times he just has to be close to me or suckin on my boobs LOL
just a question, should u let them feed and sleep when THEY want or what? ive been talking to some people and they try to keep their babies awake a bit more in the day so they sleep at night? sounds like an ok idea but if i kept Jay awake he would get frustrated and cry more i reckon.. ahh ya just never know what to do hey lol
-
I hate it when Amber cries. We just went on our first walk. She was ok for half the way then she started screaming. I felt so bad for her.
Amber slept very well last night. We got her down finally at about 11. She slept through to 4. I fed her and then she went back to sleep til 8. She has been awake ever since though andfed a lot. She had a good feed when she first woke and has been after top ups ever since. I hope I am not over feeding her. I have also resisted the formula. She is content to just suck on me and not drink but then she falls asleep on me.....
I wish there was a manual. How come some babies can get into a routine where they are happy to feed every 3 or so hours? Amber doesnt like her rocker very much either. Prefers Mum.
Was about to do personals. But she is now screaming in Ben's arms.
-
yer jen i hate it when Jaylen cries too, i just dunna what to do, he is changed, fed, not hot or cold, lying on me and he stil cries?!
i wish they came with manuals too...
i dont think they get into routines until they are a few months old i have been told...
-
I WANT THE REPLY BUTTON BACK! :wall:
Jen, Billy doesn't like his rocker much either. I took the toys off it and he likes it a little better. I want one of those old fashioned bouncer net things. I'm going to find one! I'm glad you all had some sleep last night too! Oh and Billy's not big on going for walks either - not for too long anyway.
Jo, the song is "hey Jo, where you going with that gun in your hand..." probably made most famous by Hendrix. Sorry, I'm old. pmsl!
Jess, I think I heard that things do effect your milk. Maybe he doesn't like onions! :) I think I would've been in tears if I were you last night. Good for you for handling it by yourself. :) I am feeding BTK when he wants to be fed. Lucky for me, it's pretty much every 4 hours. Oh and by the way, you know you were asking about when to bath them? Well, I bathed him last night instead of the morning, right after a feed - I ended up wearing it!
Spent $50 printing photos. They're awesome. I'm so pleased. Got about 200 done! pmsl! I'm so excessive! Looked up Centrelink Jo - getting paid this week. THANK GOD!
BTK is yelling at himself. I'll be back later.

Hi ladies,
I'm exactly the same in the mornings. Amy wants to eat every two hours and in between feeds if I put her down she's ok for 15 minutes and then wants a cuddle. It is very difficult to have brekky and shower etc. Sometimes I just have to let her cry if we are going somewhere and I NEED to get ready.
Weird one for you - yesterday I noticed Amy's feet were getting really fat but when I took her long pants off, I realised it wasn't because she was putting on weight, it was because they were swollen! Then I saw that her left hand and fingers were swollen and the knuckles were all red but her thumb was fine! Then last night at 1am her other hand swelled up too! I went to the doctor this morning but he's not worried. He thinks it's just from a bug bite or something and she's had a reaction to it. She's happy and it doesn't seem to be painful for her so I guess I shouldn't worry but I can't help it. Her feet seem to have improved now. Just waiting on her hands now. He said that if they haven't improved in 2 days we need to do a blood test. but hopefully they are getting better already. There's always something to worry about with these little ones isn't there!?
We've got our first clinic appointment this afternoon. Cross your fingers that her weight is going well and we can start to live a normal feeding life again. I'm really looking forward to just feeding her on demand and not having to wake her up for feeds. I might even be able to use a dummy too just for some sanity. Haven't been able to yet because of the feeding issues and they weren't sure whether her sucking was ok. She's really good but just in the afternoons when she just won't settle without being held. That's when I'd like to use a dummy.
Well, I better get going and stuff myself full of food so that if I miss a meal later on at least I've topped myself up! Hehehe. Managed to have brekky at 11am this morning because of the doc appointment!
Jo - I would change the teats according to age. I haven't looked to see whether I should get new ones for the Tommee Tippee ones yet. I've got the slow flow ones at the moment. Not sure what age they go to but if I need to I'll get the other ones......
jen - don't feel guilty for topping up. I've been doing it for about ten days now and Amy is a lot more content. She wasn't getting enough and not putting on enough weight. They won't eat more than they can fit in. Amy stops sucking and gets cranky when she doesn't want anymore of the bottle and just comes off the boob when she's had enough. I don't think you can overfeed a baby. They won't eat if they don't want it. Amy's like that with walks. You think that you've gotten away with getting out of the house and then bub decides Nope, no more fun for you. I feel guilty when she cries too because I've taken her out of her comfort zone.....I'm hopeless like that though....
jess - i wouldn't try to keep Jaylen up during the day cos you end up with a really cranky baby all day and the possibility that he won't go down at night either. No fun at all. Really you just need to let them do what they want to do until they are older. If everything is going well weight wise, feed him when he wants and then let him sleep when he wants. The biggest thing to do is sleep when he sleeps. that gives you a (tiny) bit more energy for if he's up at night. That's what i do anyway.....even though there are so many chores that need to be done!
well, sorry for the long post and sorry to miss people but I've gotta go eat something. Hope you are all doing well. Let me know if anyone else has had the swelling problem or heard of it......maybe I need to get a different formula.....we're on S26 at the moment but everyone I've spoken to has raved about NAN......
Seeya ladies xxx Luv Nik and Amy
-
Jess- Yes Im pretty sure whatu eat does affect bubs. Others 2 watch out for is cabbage and garlic even cows milk!!!! Bummer about bub crying etc.. they do that now and then!! good idea 2 ensure they are awake for a few hrs late arvo to help them sleep regular at night:) gotta go - bubs restless!! lol
-
lol kate i was in tears for a few mins cuz i was just THAT frustrated and felt bad if he hadnt have settled when he did i woulda went mental
oh i need to get pics printed too, i have never printed pics off the digi cam LOL
oh, my nurse appointment, Jaylen put on 100 grams since tuesday, pig lol... and everytime they comes, they think that cuz im a single mum i cant cope!? even when hes unsettled heaps i still cope! its not impossible ha... i know they are tryin to be helpful but i can do it lol..
nik ur lucky, Jaylen wont take a dummy anymore! he took it for a few days in the hospital but wont take it now...
Jaylen loves going outside, i went to the shopping centre yesti to do some stuff and just carried him and he was wide awake just looking around... and when im pushing him around in the pram he just sleeps!
well was about to do more personals but Jays stirrin! he fed and changed, just wants to be held i think! NOT feeding him again my boobs hurt LOL!!
-
Thanks for the reassurance everyone. I dont think I was at all prepared for a newborn. We go through are they hot/cold, wet, hungry and then if they still cry I get frustrated.
Jess- Amber is getting the hiccups too. I wonder if there is anything we can do to fix it or to just leave it be.
Carol- The formula we are topping Amber up on is Karicare. This morning she was suckling on me sometimes drinking every hour I reckon. Just when I thought she couldnt eat anymore, DP gave her some formula and she guzzled it down. Maybe because she is such a big baby. Then I worry she eats too much. She did put on 190 grams in 4 days....
Kate- I am with you on the tears. I am having a cry daily. Ben has been fantastic. I wouldnt know what to do without him. I will mention the feeding to the Maternal health nurse. She has not called yet but I called them yesterday and they do have my birth notice.
Well little miss has stirred after being down 15 minutes.
Not a good day.
-
Hang in there Jen! It will get easier:) There will be some tears of frustration but there will be alot of smiles too!;)
-
Afternoon everyone
Hope all is well in your worlds, getting enough food, sleep and time out!
Jess I second what the other girls said, sometimes it seems that what I eat gives Addy discomfort later. I think rich tomato dishes and garlic- she was really grizzly after pizza:cry:!! and spaghetti bolognese
You make up your own mind about how you are gonna raise Jaylen, hun. Lots of people will give advice and there is the 'demand feeding' camp and the 'rigid routine' camp. read as much as you can, and whatver works for you and jaylen will be right. I go with the flow with Addy, feed her when she cries etc.
Jen, again, I second that you cant overfeed! I think all the babies on here are going through clingy times and just want mum. My poor DH could not settle her last night, and I could see him getting frustrated cause as soon as he gave her to me she quietened down! Maybe she is doing some comfort sucking too. Thats why some mums resort to the dummy?! I bought one today, might try it on evenings when I cannot feed enough and my BBs are getting sore!
kate, good one on the photos. I printed 117 photos last weeks and are doing a (very bad job) scrapbook at the moment!
Nik, that swelling would be a little nervewracking. Hope it calms down soon.
Well, I tried Addy on her first bootle of EBM last night. 30ml- drunk straight down! was amazed- she had no hesitation to go back on the boob afterwards either.
Now I am off to a mothers group this afternoon, near to home. Should be interesting, not sure if there are any 'babies' Addys age or not. cant hurt to check it out.
Speaking of meeting- Bris girls are you ready for a meeting?? Maybe end of next week? I can drive wherever!
-
Hey - Can someone tell me how you get bubs pic in the sig??
:D
-
I think this is all the Brisbane girls-
Me-Geebung
Jo-Tanah Merah
Carol-Centenary Suburbs
Dayl-North Lakes
Bindy-Albany Creek
Mrsr-Greenslopes
Tascha-Glasshouse mountains
Loren-Montville
Nik-GoldCoast!
Karen-SOmewhere
Thats a lot of distance between- 2 hours + between Montville and GoldCoast!!
Oh well. If anyone interested in meeting let me know!
-
Kate- never heard of the song before, will look on Limewire later and have a listen.
Mary- my family go home on Feb 23rd so anytime after that i'd be right for a meet up, Chris is on night shift for a week and goes back to day shift next thursday so he'd be able to drop me off wherever otherwise i'll be using public transport.
Carol- when you were choosing your ticker did it gve you the option to add a photo?, i know that the ticker factory i used gave me the options.
Nik- yeah i bought some '2' avent teats and have started using them already as Sophie seemed to be sucking the life out of the '1's'.
Ladies after reading your stories of troubles getting bubs to settle and struggling to have time to get ready, eat & shower i feel so bad that Sophie sleeps between feeds lets me eat & shower and she loves her bouncer & pram. Chris bought Sophie avent dummies and she loves them and we use them to settle her and when shes had enough of it she spits the dummy
Has anyone elses bubs already trying to roll from their tummies to their backs?, because we gave Sophie some tummy time last night on her activity gym and she pretty much went from her tummy to her back but she rolled against the arm of the activity gym.
-
lol mary thats funny cuz last nyt i had spag bog and the night b4 i had pizza LOL...
ahh its so hot...
-
put some new pics of Jaylen on my site if ya's wanna have a look, he was being a bit of a show off for the camera hehe...
WHY are they so good in the daytime lol, hes been feeding about every 2-3 hours and just sleeping in his bouncer in between! minute tea time hits he will be unsettled till about 11 or something!? very weird
-
Lucky for you Jess. Amber has had a couple of 20 min sleeps today...I feel a bad night coming on.
-
aww jen :( hopefully since she hasnt slept much 2day she might sleep 2night?!
hmm i would rather Jaylen be unsettled in the daytime than at night!
havent had a sleep 2day cuz its too damn hot, lay on the couch b4 but just couldnt sleep, ahh i hate the heat
-
Hey everyone.
Sorry that I havent touched base in a while. Joshua is just a little time consuming. Having trouble breastfeeding so he's less settled at times. ANYWAY.
BRISBANE YUMMY MUMMIES!! I would love to have a get-together!! Any excuse to get out of the house with Joshua is a welcome here!!
gotta go
Joshua is wanting boobies again.
-
My girl must be overtired right now. She has only settled in DP or my arms for no longer that half an hour today. She seems to want to suck on me all of the time. Not necessarily drinking.
Not a good day here.
She is crying again. Will go and try and make her happy :(
-
Hey lovelies,
Nik, how was your appointment??? Also, I'm using NAN HA1 now - awesome. Less wind, no more constipation, no more congested sounds at night. Thank goodness! Give it a go maybe.
Jen and Jess - tears are good. I reckon anyway. I think today is the first day I haven't felt a bit teary at one stage or another. I think I was just too busy trying to keep BTK cool and finish off my thank you notes. He's nearly a month old - I can't believe it. I remember how hard it was at the start (even though this is only the start but you know what I mean) and already it's heaps better. You girls are doing a great job and Jen, you are very lucky to have Ben.
Mary, good one on getting your pics printed. How was the mother's group? I'm sort forward to mine (next Wednesday) but a bit worried. The area where I'm living now is a bit posh and I think I'll probably be the only single mum there. That's ok though I guess. I was worried about that at the classes too and they turned out nice.
Jo, are you doing tummy time every day? I've been a bit slack. I don't want to put him on his tummy just after a feed and then when I change him it's usually before a feed when he's going nuts for food. When do you do it?
Jess, awesome pics! He's changed heaps already I reckon. They do so quickly. I can't believe it! :) Oh and yes, it's f*cking hot! :wall:
Tascha - HELLO!
Hmmm... not much going on here. BTK hasn't had much sleep today. Too hot. Been giving him water in between feeds. They said to if he's mostly on formula. He didn't like it much but drank some anyway. :)
Back soon.
x
-
Jen, I had one of the nurses from the hospy here today to pick up some books I got her from work. Anyway, she was saying how unsettled they are when it's hot. Amber's probably more unsettled than BTK even as she's younger. Do you think she's hungry? BTK was falling asleep on my bb's before I realised he wasn't getting enough. Just thinking out loud...
-
Kate- we've only done tummy time the last two days before her evening feed as i got her activity gym out of her room and brought it down to the loungroom. And we've put her on her tummy for as long as shes happy to be which is usually about 30-45mins.
Brisvegas ladies where could be a place to meet up a shopping centre, someones house, a park??.
-
Thanks Jo. Really that long? OMG, BTK screams his guts out when I put him on his tummy. Do you put her arms down by her side or kind of like she's going to do push ups? I hate doing things to him that he hates... :(
I can't keep my eyes open. Next feed at 11pm. I reckon I can nap between now and then.
Good sleep to all.
x
-
Jo - I think someones house would be nice! Its personal & there will be comfy places for the mums & bubs to sit, chat etc. And all amenities, lol.
Jen- Sorry to hear you haven't had a good day of it & are dreading night time! Reminds me of my DD when she was a bub. Boy I had nights of utter frustration of getting her to sleep in my arms & placing her into her cot & then she wakes up!!! Arghhhhhh. When you do that a few times it makes you cry. That & the tiredness on top. Hope she pleasantly surprises you tonight though & gives you an easy day tomorrow:)
Kate - thanks for the pic advice, I'll go back into the ticker w/shop & have a peep!
-
hi everyone!
It has taken me ages to catch up on this new thread. Sorry for no personals but a bit time poor here... one handed typing too.
I totallt understand about the tears ladies. I think there were only 2 days in the first 2 weeks that I didnt cry! But it does get better!!! I can hardly believe it now that Celeste is a month old,(today) how different everything feels. I am so much more confident and we have worked each other out a bit better now. Sure, she still screams the house down at least a few times a day with bad wind/colic but I am learning to deal with that without a nervous breakdown now. :) And it has taken me a long time too to think about the birth without crying. I felt a bit ripped off that I didnt get to deliver vaginally and found it hard listening to a woman we went to classes with, labouring inthe next room on my day3, but mostly I was quite traumatised by the emergency of our delivery and that we could have lost her. Anyhow, it is in the past and she is with us and perfectly healthy. I am totally thankful for that!!!
Jess, I have been thinking about Jaylen and his crying. I dont know if this will apply to you at all. I might be totally wrong but it sounds a bit like Celeste was at about week 3... her feed technique improved heaps and my milk increased by A LOT so that when she fed she just got the foremilk. Then she got full so didnt get the hindmilk. That isnt as filling and so she wanted more an hour later. I was careful to always swap sides each time. But that stimulation all the time caused the milk to increase more so that she only got foremilk all the time. Apparently that makes them really windy cause it is much sugarier so she was hungry cause she wasnt getting the filling hind milk but she was too windy to feed properly. Vicious cycle. Is Jaylen windy? does he have really frothy poos? (Hehe, thinking about the one on the bed) Just a thought that might help you. To fix the problem, if she wanted to go back on I kept putting her on the same side again (like if it was only 1/2hour or something) so that she eventually drained that side totally before I gave her the other side. That way she got the hind milk and also the milk production settled down to a managable level. Anyhow, I'm no expert but just thought you might think about that.
Going to a morning tea thingy tomorrow at the hospital for new mums. A bit educational but mostly just social. I am quite looking forward to it.
Celeste has to be weighed weekly at the CYH nurse cause she is still small and not gaining heaps. She gained 160g in 9days last time. Apparently it is to do with the feeding stuff mentioned above. Im looking forward to thursday when she gets weighed again cause it will have been a whole week of the new feeding plan. She looks so different now Im sure she is fatter. She is totally a different baby than a month ago. It is amazing how quickly they develop!!! She now smiles and 'talks' and has the beginning of a giggle when she plays or I read to her. I swear sometimes when I pick her up from a sleep that she has changed in the time since I put her down!!!
Hope everyone gets a good night tonight. Celeste generally has a yucky demanding evening then a really good night (sleep 4 - 6 hours). If she has a long sleep I am then up for about an hour and a half but if it has been a short sleep she might only keep me up for 45mins. Not sure what tonight will be, as she has had a mixed up evening.... will find out soon!
good night!
-
Morning lovelies!
I hope you girls got some sleep and the little ones settled for you. We're heading out for the day so just wanted to share something with you before I left...
Billy just spewed in his cot but it must've been a projectile one because it was on the floor. When I went to check on him, Ocean came (of course, because nobody can go near him without her) and ate it all up off the floor! PMSL!!! Gotta love it.
Sorry if that made anyone sick - I was just hoping to make you laugh!
Back later.

-
Morning all mummies.
Can hear a restless child trying to wake herself up next door, so wont be long.
Have a pregnant work friend coming over today she is booked for a caesar in the next week and freaking out- hope I can reassure her somewhat!
My mothers group went well, there was only 2 mums there, with boys of 6 and 7 months so a bit older than Addy. Better than toddlers though! Not sure how often they will meet its a bit all over the place.
Hope everyone has a good day, will try and check in later
Mary
-
Amber has been good during the nights, it is the days I am having issues with. She has a good feed, we wrap her, hold her til she dozes then put her down. She will then wake herself up. This happened all day yesterday and she had only a couple of 10 minute naps until 11pm last night. I just dont know what to do to get her to sleep during the day. I know she is tired. We put her down. We even wait a bit if she cries. But then she fully wakes herself. I just want my baby to be able to have some sleep during the day and the night.
Anyone got any ideas?
I am thinking of going to formula but the comments I get from that makes me feel really bad :(
-
kate - yer i think hes changing heaps too! more alert ect! LOL thats funny about ocean and the spew, at least u dont have to clean it up ;) hehe
im heading out fro the day 2day too, going to centrelink... oh joy... hopefully my money will come through pretty quick!
sazz - thanks for the advice! i will try it next time hes absolutly balling LOL, he was good last night thank god, was only unsettled from like 9pm til 11pm instead of 8pm till 1am hehe...
jen - aww u poor thing :( i dont know if this will work for u and amber but a few days b4 Jaylen was a week old he was really unsettled ect, i would feed him, wrap him up ect put him down and 20 mins later he would be crying again.. when i got home from the hospital, i tried not wrapping him up, just putting a blanket over him and tucking it in at the sides, and he settled! hes HATES being wrapped up, loves moving his arms and feet around, sometimes he scares himself by flinging his arms up, but yer he really doesnt like being wrapped up, maybe u could try that? and another thing a midwife told me, is to feed them, if they are still awake at the end of the feed, give them the other side, if not, just let them fall asleep on ya chest, but dont put them down or move them for about 20 mins, apparantly babies dont go into a deep sleep till after 20 mins or so, so if u move them b4 then they will cry again... lol im not an expert, just giving u some options :) !!
well thats the longest post i have written for a while lol... i better go have some brekkie b4 Jaylen wakes up again! gave him a bath this morn (only giving him a bath once every 2 days cuz i dont need to make his skin any dryer than it is lol! that will teach him for 'cooking' so long hehe!) and he actually liked it! didnt cry, i was amazed! and he was splashing his hands around and bouncing around LOL so cute

Thanks Jess we will give it a go. She is sleeping at the moment and been down for about half an hour. She does like to fling her arms around and wake herself up.
Jaylen is a cutie. He looks like you too.
You know my midwives never gave me any tips like that.
Hopefully yesterday was just a bad day for us. She was a bit unsettled earlier. So far it has been 2 and a half hours between feeds. Who knows with babies though.
Kate- I am still too scared to take Amber out. We tried a walk in the stroller yesterday and she screamed. I think it was too hot for her. Have a good day out.
Mary- I am sure you pg friend will find it very comforting to have your support. I wouldnt know what to do if I didnt have people here to lean on. I have also decided that I love modern medicine. The epidural even though it didnt work 100% definately helped my birth experience.
Sazz- I cant wait till Amber is that little bit older like Celeste. I am envious that everyone elses babies in here are a little bit older. Makes me have further to go. Hopefully her weight will continue to improve. You could always have some of my DD's weight!
Jo- I have had Amber sort of on her tummy while on my chest. But as she is younger than Sophie it is a little different. You are so lucky your girl has had a good sleep routine. I will have to tell Amber to take a leaf out of her book.
Hi Tasch- Hello to Joshua too.
Well thats the longest post I have managed to do in awhile.
My girl is 7 days old today. Just another or so weeks of having bugger all knowledge of what to do!

Jen, I put lavender oil in BTK's bath the other night and I had to wake HIM for a feed! Only 1 drop of PURE oil. The maternal health nurse said it was ok to use but I found it made him TOO tired. Why not try that and bath her in the morning? Double check on using it as I'm only going on what I've been told.
Also Jen, I'm going out to Sunbury tomorrow - probably get there around 10am or a bit after. Just going to my friend's new tattoo shop and probably have a coffee. If you feel like a visitor - send me a text. Believe me, I won't be offended if I don't hear from you - especially with the lack of sleep etc you've been having. Just didn't want you to think I'd been there and not wanted to drop in or say hi. I remember cancelling all visitors at the end of my first week home. I just wasn't coping. It takes a little while to settle down I think. Anyway, you just let me know. Even if you, Ben and Amber want to meet me down the street for a coffee (if you want to take her out) - that's fine too. As I said, no pressure. :)
How was Centrelink Jess? Fun I'm sure! I got my bonus paid in today as well as some payments in arrears. I put the form in about 2 weeks ago.
Sorry for no other personals. Didn't have time to read them.
Back later. Going to watch the DVD that came in my hospital pack about parenting or some cr*p. May as well. :)

ps. Has anyone heard from Maz? I have texted her 3 times and heard nothing back. That's cool if she's busy - or maybe she didn't get them (Jen/Jo did you get my texts today?) but I'm worried. I hope she and Mateauz are ok.
