Kanda my Sophie is almost 4months old and still gets some pains from time to time. I dont think there is an answer as to when it stops, sometimes bubs just get a bubble stuck and it causes them pain until they get it out. Sophie has only had 2 nights where she has had BAD pain/wind in her 4months. Have you consulted your dr or anyone else?.

Sorry if i wasnt much help..

    Hi everyone!
Still reading the daily email updates with relish, even if I dont manage to come into the site and reply!
Glad to hear everyone is going well!
We are good, Addy is growing beautifully, 4 months old today! She will have her next immunisations next week. She is continuing on reflux medication, we will taper it off at 6 months when she starts solids and should all be good. She is is much happier baby now. Still doesnt sleep long time during the day but sleeps 8pm-2ish feeds and sleeps till 6am so I am happy with that! She is 65cm long and weighs 7.05kg 2 weeks ago.
As for me, I am getting to pilates once a week to strengthen those abs!!! and walking most days, have lost a little more weight- now only 2.5kg to get back to pre-pregnancy weight which is still about 5 kg more than I would like!! But I am happy!

SO not much news. Still waiting for Addy to roll over but she is delighting us each day with new hand controls, 'talking' and all the little things that they do!!

    Till next time,
    Hugs
    Maryx and Addy

Hi everyone! God it's quiet in here! Well, Amy has almost lost all her beautiful hair and the little tiny short ones that are growing back are looking suspiciously blonde so we will see. She seriously looks like a different baby now. I got my first giggles yesterday too!! None since then but it absolutely made my day. I can't believe that my little girl is over 19 weeks now. Not much other news here. Still waiting for her to roll but can't hurry development!! She's sleeping well. 7pm until 5.30 or 6am on a good night, so am very happy about that. Sleep makes things much easier to handle!\ Got my results from my follow up GTT and bad news, I have impaired glucose tolerance which means I basically have to eat like a diabetic to prevent me from getting Type 2 in the future. There's a 50% chance I'll get it in the next 10 years. Bummer but what can you do?! I'm just frustrated cos I've never been fat or unhealthy....oh well, no more choc or lollies for me!

Madelon - Amy's top hair has disappeared too. It looks funny. I hope Sander is sleeping better.

Jen - Yay on Amber reaching 12 weeks! She's looking so gorgeous!!

Mary - only 2.5kg to go! That's great!! My extra weight just won't budge and believe me I'm trying!!!

April - Happy mother's day to you too! Hope you got spoilt.

Jo - that's so great you had a better experience at the dr's. reassures you a lot doesn't it!?

Jess - Amy's dribbling lots and chews on her hands but still no teeth! I'm sure they'll be coming soon though! ;-) Jaylen looks great!! So do you for that matter!

Karen - I hope you've settled into the new place and that the stress has died down for you. I know what you mean about being clucky around other pregnant women. I think it could be time for number 2 for me in the nearish future but will take it as it comes.....oh my did I just say that!!

Well, better get going. I miss you all. It's so hard to get on here regularly though. Oh well, at least we've got much more interesting and fun things to do with our time!! Luv Nik and Amy xxxx

    Goodday all!

    How's everyone doing?

Sander still hardly sleeps..... I wish he finally figured out how much fun dreaming can be! He hardly sleeps during the day: 1/2 hour in the morning, max 2 hours midday, 1/2 hour late afternoon, 1 hour around 7 and if he has a bad night, he won't go back to sleep untill 10ish no matter how tired. Then he wakes up at around 3 and 7.30
So envious when I read about your bubs sleeping through the nights..
He is really unsettled too, cramps and spitting up alot.
On the other hand he loves to play and really likes to stick his tongue out and splutter.
We had to go to the hospital yesterday as they suspected he might have hip dysplasia (sp?) but thank god his hips are fine.
The radiologist was kinda rude tho! We entered the room and she immediately squeeled: wow he's a big guy isn't he?! Ummm yeah I know, he's kinda big for his age! Kinda hoping he will stop growing this fast! but at least we don't have to worry about him not eating enough I guess..

Nik: Sanders hair is returning and it is much lighter than the hair he was born with too. apparently thats very normal. Can't wait what he looks like tho with a full head of hair!

Hey everyone else! Anyone else still breastfeeding full time? Can you get bubs in some sort of rythm? Does your bub stull have a lot of wind? Is that normal? It's really painfull sometimes!

Hope everyone is fine and enjoying bubs giggles and splutterings.

    Hi everyone,

Wow, I can't believe how quiet it is. ha ha... It's only cos we're all so busy with our bubs.

Billy had his 4 month needles today and did really well. I did well also, didn't cry this time. ha ha ha! I'm not sure of his weight etc at the moment. He has a check up this coming Tuesday.

As for me, I've been trying to get back to the gym but feeling too fat to leave the house. Bought myself a new ipod shuffle yesterday as I can't find my old one since I moved! So, I've loaded that up with songs and might head off to the gym shortly. I have to lose 48kg! What a classic. Well, I lost 50kg 5 years ago so at least I know I can do it! It's so weird you know, I see the girls on the biggest loser and some of them look heaps bigger than me but weight heaps less. Why do I weigh so much but don't look all that big? Strange.

It sounds like everyone here is so happy and enjoying their bubs. It's awesome. I wish we could get this chatter up and going again. I'm going to make a concerted effort to drop by every day and see what's going on. I really do miss all the chats we used to have.

Well, I better put my gym stuff on before I change my mind! I hope everyone's having an awesome day.

    Much love to all,

    Kate & Billy

    Hi everyone!

Wow, it looks like I'm not the only one that forgets to check in here these days!

How quickly are our bubs growing?! Punky is a delight each & every day - can't get enough of her... except during the witching hour - that's when she's Daddy's!!

We had her needles on Wednesday, I cried like a big girl, again, Punky cried less than I did in fact! Brave little Pumpkin!

Are there any Melbourne chickies that want to meet up for a spot of shopping somwhere with our bubs?! Getting sick of not knowing anyone down here or doing anything ever.... & would love to meet some more cute 4 month olds if anybody knows of any... hehehe, and their adorable mummies too of course!

    Hey Everyone,

Good to hear your all doing so well.

Ever since we got back from our honeymoon Bodie hasn't gotten back into his original sleeping pattern. He used to sleep right through the night. Now he has been waking up around 2 or 3am! Arrrgh. I feed him at 5am then we I put him in my bed & sleep till around 8am (on a good day). Oh well, hopefully he'll sleep through the night soon.
We've had a bad afternoon with him today... we got back from a picnic up the mountain and he slept for most of the way in the car. When we got home he was just wouldn't stop crying, we couldn't put him down to play with his toys, always wanted to be picked up. Finally got him to sleep just a minute ago. Probably just over tired hey.

Kate: Good on you for hitting the gym, I went for about a week lol, but I think I like walking outside better.

Nik: Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!! Hope you have a great day We'll be the same age hehe.

Maz: Yeah aren't the bumbo chairs great! Bodie likes sitting in it with his toys near so he can chew on them lol.

Anyway better go, he's woken up... short sleep!

Happy Birthday Nik! Hope you had an awesome day! xo

Queen Mab, Jen and I met up at DFO in Essendon and want to again, with Tiff this time too. Where do you live? You are more than welcome to come along. I am in East Kew.

April, no good about Bodie having a bad day. Billy has those when we have been out all day. That's why I don't go out much. I figure when he's older, it will be easier. I hope he's having a better day today.

Maz, I know. I'm hopeless. I'll get on it though. Hey, come join the Bumbo users group on Facebook. How cool are those things? I want one!

Well, I've been to gym 3 days in a row. Doing 40 minutes of cardio every time and weights every second day. I love it. I feel so inspired and proud of myself. I also ordered this book called "Mum, don't supersize me!". It's on it's way. There was a story about them on "A Current Affair" the other night. It was great. I really got it mostly so I can make sure that I learn about healthy eating for kids and stuff. Anyway, I'm hoping it will help me also. They had great results with families on the show.

Hmmm, what else. Oh yes, I'm planning to take Billy over the US next year. Want to meet friends in LA and then head down to Texas to visit another friend. I have to take him before he's 2 so I don't have to pay for 2 airfares! pmsl We'll see if I can save up.

Anyway, not much else going on here. Billy's asleep and I'm going to have a shower and clean off the gym sweat!

    Happy Sunday everyone.

    Hi everyone,

QM- Yup like Kate said I am in Melb too. Amber and her boyfriend Billy went to DFO last month. Kate and I just tagged along!
Maz- We have a BebePOD and Amber just loves it. We put her on the bench and she acts like a queen sitting all high and mighty.
HAPPY 25TH NIK.... I hope your DH and Amy are spoiling you today.
Kate- Wern't we going to go to Canada when we were pg? I have never been to Texas. Want to go one day though. Ben and I want to drive from coast to coast next time we go.

    Hello everyone else.
I had a blocked duct during the week. Wasnt nice. Shoved some cabbage leaves down the bra and are now right as rain. We are still bf well enough.

Thats all I have to really talk about now.

Jen, yes, we were and would still like to, however, I convinced 1/6 of the people I want to see in Canada to meet me in LA. To go to Can., I'd really want to purchase a 'round world ticket and then I could see old friends from where I lived in London and Dublin too but it's the getting around with a bub thing, and not to mention the spending money. It's one thing to buy the ticket, as you know, it's another to have to cash to pay for everything else. So, I'm thinking we'll just hit LA then San Antonio then home. I'm even trying to talk Nanny into coming! Mum and I have always wanted to do a trip together. She would prefer not to enter the US at all and Dad simply refuses (which is fine cos someone has to mind Oce and the cats ) but I reckon I can talk her into it. (they are anti-US government - hardcore).

Blah, I'm so high/talkative/manic. I've been to gym, then went to the pub alone... PMSL! Some old dude commented on my new shoes. Then I watched another idiot lose $1500 on the pokies in less than 10 minutes. Far OUT!

    How's BTK's g/friend going?

ps. when I mentioned the 'round the world tick, I just meant it's cheaper to do that than just buy MEL-LAX-TOR.

    Hi Everyone,

I had Francis weighed on Friday at the GP and he is 5.8kg at almost 4 months. So he has put on 2kg since birth and so far has not put on any weight in 2 weeks. The doctor told me I need to start comp feeding, I am not really for it as I breast fed all my sons till they were around 12 months, it just feels right and I am quite proud of that. I love breast feeding - I don't want to offend those mummies that bottle feed. It just feels like I am failing my baby by being unable to sustain him with my breast milk.

I have tried him on a little heinz apple and he gobbled half the tin in one go so I am starting to feel maybe I should start supp feeding with formula. I don't know what quite went wrong with my milk or with me.

I am upset that the GP said he looked starving and a bit skinny. I just went there for what I believed to be a fungal infection behind his ear, but turned out to be dermatitis. I also told the doctor that I thought he was a bit refluxy because he vomits after every meal. She declined giving me Zantac but told me to comp him with reflux formula instead to get his weight up.

I always trusted in my body to feed all my babies, now I feel like a failure. I know there are lots of mothers out there that have had no choice but to feed their bubs formula for either medical or work reasons but this is how I feel (not wanting to sound selfish or insensitive).

Remembering back when I first tried to put my first son on formula (he had serious reflux), I remember the screaming my partner and I had to endure and then the projectile vomiting. I was 21 and he was three months old when I tried to switch him and he would not take the bottle no matter how hard I persisted and tried to ignore the the distress and the screaming, I had just had surgery at the time which in the end led to an infection (in hindsight a big mistake to have the sugery while nursing a wee baby), I needed to go onto antibiotics that I could not breast feed on and also having to take valium and panadine forte for the pain. I gave up my medicine reguime to continue breast feeding him. Since then I have been dead against putting my bubs on formula. Regurgitating that story makes me see the partial reason why.

I hope all you girls are doing great with your bubs

    Love Karen

    hi ladies,

I had the best birthday. Got pretty spoilt and just had an all round great day. Don't feel any older except when I realise that I'm a mum.....that's when I realise, hey I'm not 16 anymore!! ;-)

Madelon - I want Amy's hair back!! It's definitely growing back though. I'm just so impatient. I'm so used to seeing her without hair and she just looks so different without it!! Good to hear that Sander's hips are fine. Bummer about his sleeping. Hang in there. It will improve. Amy goes through phases. Just when I think we're in a good routine it all changes!!

Kate - Don't you feel so much better when you start exercising again!? Good on you. You'll lose that weight in no time. I've been walking every day and go to the gym twice a week (only times that I can get Amy minded when there's a decent class on) but it is slowly working. I can fit into a couple of my old pairs of shorts now.....but that's no good considering it's winter now!!!!!!

Vic - I cried when Amy had her needles too. It's so awful!!

Maz - Amy is at that point with her hair now too. She's got tiny little short blonde hairs coming back though so it looks like I could have a blondie girl soon!

April - That's a real bummer about Bodie's sleeping. Hopefully it's just a phase and he'll settle down again soon. Amy had a horror couple of weeks that only stopped a couple of days ago now. I was at the stage where I was just exhausted and was wondering what was wrong with her when she went back to normal all of a sudden!! Go 25!!! :-)

Jen - glad your blocked duct is ok now!

Karen - I'm now feeding Amy on full time formula. I got post natal depression after we had no luck breast feeding. I felt like I was failing my little girl but in the end she was putting on such little weight that it was in her best interests for her to go onto formula. It took me a very long time to come to terms with it. No matter how good breast milk is for your baby, if they're not getting enough volume, it can be to their detriment in the long run. There is nothing wrong with bottle feeding (I've accepted that now) and I totally understand how you feel but the way I see it is that sometimes our bodies just don't work well enough and we are just lucky that we have formula as an option. Amy is going so well now. I've decided to give breast feeding a go with our next one but if it doesn't work second time around, not put so much pressure on myself. I hope everything works out. It's amazing how past experiences with our bubs scar us for so long. I'm terrified of the newborn stage now and am scared to have another baby because of how depressed and low I got. You will never fail your baby as long as you nurture him. Hugs to you xxx

Just a question ladies. For those of you who are going to have another baby, when are you thinking of starting TTC? We're going to start trying in a few months. Do you think I'm crazy? It's just I'm young, I'm not at work at the moment and if we have another one sooner rather than later, then I can stay at home for longer and start back at my career without having to worry about stopping again. I know that's a really logical way of looking at it but that's just me. We only want (and can afford!) two children so I think, we're going to do it eventually, may as well do it now! I'm so scared of the newborn phase but I know now that it definitely gets better so I think I'll be right second time around.....I'll just cross my fingers that we don't have another premmie.
Hope you are all doing well xxx Luv Nik and Amy
