Ouchies! Poor Zander!
Can't believe all the hassles you've had with the railing, Sarah. How frustrating! Maybe the mattress on the floor is a good way to go? That's how Paige sleeps atm because she started climbing out of the cot.
I continue to piff baby dust your way matey....
Belinda - good job with cleaning up Mason's room. Gabby's already needs a good clean and I only did it not so long ago! She's also got the single bed in her room. Thankfully it's a big room so it fits just nicely with plenty of room for the cot. I've mainly moved the single bed in there so I can start organising Little Bee's room but the familiarity with it can't hurt. I wonder if we'll have trouble getting a railing for it also? Neil will probably devise something.... Mr. Fix-it!
Dee - sounds like you're having a hall of a time, matey. Hope the boys have relented and decided to start sleeping more. Gawd it's tough enough with 1 refusing to sleep let-alone 2! Sounds like Adrian is one healthy bubba. You don't have little children, do you? ;)
Tanya - hope you're feeling ok and the m/s monster hasn't gotten to you too badly.
As Fi mentioned, Gab and I went back to Geelong over the weekend for various things but mainly to get measured up for material for my sister's wedding Jan next year (yes! She's very organised but has to be cos one of our sister's is off to England for 8 months). I am hoping to lose a heap of weight before the wedding but I figure too much material is better than not enough ;)
We had a massive day on the Friday. We visited Fi and Jenna and Hamish (and I got to have HUGE cuddles with widdle Hamish - was so nice to cuddle a bubba to sleep!). Gabrielle behaved atrociously and tried to beat Jenna up with her baby-doll! SO not impressed!! Jenna was so lovely about it tho. It just showed me how Gabby is lacking in socialisation atm. Norty little scamp!
Bec and Eliza popped in too so it was GREAT to catch up with them. Eliza looked very pretty in her gorgeous dress next to my feral child with the skinned knee ;) We had some lovely sponge cake that Fi made (where she found the time, I dunno!) and Jenna showed us some letters of the alphabet. Very clever! Gabby saw the cow and said "moo" does that count?? PMSL She was just happy to copy Jenna and point while Jenna told us the letter and the picture.
We then went to see my friend Larissa to give her DD her first birthday present. We had party food and everything! Gabby was most impressed. She was a bit feral there to but, thankfully, didn't try to beat anyone up!
We headed over to see Tash and Paige (yes... I know... way too much for one day!). Gab and Paige didn't skip a beat and played together like they always have. They just seem to gel (guess it's all the time they spent together).
We were knackered by the time we got back to Mum's. We had a tupperware party to go to the next day so even more socialisation for Miss Gab. She spent a lot of time outside which was good. She, once again, went bananas at another child (this time one older than her) because she wanted what she had. Urrgh! Please tell me this is just a phase?? I don't want her to be the child that all other children run away from! LOL
My sister took her to church on Sunday (thought it would be nice for my sis since she's off to England soon). Apparently Gabby was very well behaved and cute. She danced and sang and clapped to the music. Of course she went bananas when she got back to Mum's because my younger sister's had to go and she wanted to go with them. Gab stood at the door watching them go (screaming, mind you) and started bashing her head on the door. Deeeeelightful!
She's been better since we've been home. Still defiant but not as over-stimulated. Poor chook! We've got playgroup this morning so we'll see how she goes. I'm praying she doesn't try to beat a baby up this time.

Wow, it is quiet in here.
Sarah, I see what you mean about the bed rail. I hope you don't have any more hassles with the refund. Jack will probably use his until he's 10, I'll be too scared to remove it LOL!
Deb, what a huge day. Glad to hear Gabby was good mostly. I think the hitting thing is fairly normal. Jack has made another kids cry at story time on a couple of occassions, but I think he's just trying to hug the child and is a bit too rough. I feel a bit bad telling him off as I think he means well.
Hi to everyone else, I've been so busy this week I've lost track a bit. I have had such a busy week trying to catch up after Christmas and our holiday and I've had appts for various things every day this week. And of course Jack's party is Sunday and it's my first birthday party (as hostess) so it's all a bit new to me. I've actually only been to one 2nd birthday party before and it was at a play centre so I'm not too sure what people do at home. I'm hoping the pool, sand pit, swings and toys will keep the kids occupied enough. I can't believe my little boy is going to be two on Monday. Where has the time gone?
Do you think my life will be easier on Monday once I don't have two under two anymore? LOL
-
Here I was panicking thinking there be opages for me to catch up on again and there`s not YAY :D
Deb - Your right I don`t have little children but I wish I did, my body is breaking because of these big boofas (I`m serious here), my body is only meant to have average size babies so why do I have big bubs. Wow I`m tired just reading what you`ve been up to, sounds like you had a great day with catching up with everyone LOL @ Gabby beating up everyone, Matthew has a tendency to get over excited and bite I`m always watching him and get so embarrassed if he happens to try to bite a child
LOL Melanie @ thinking your life might be easier on Monday once you don`t have 2 under 2, something for me to look forward to come early May but somehow I don`t think it will work LOL Have a great day on Sunday.
Sarah - Ouchies poor Zander. Have a great day today at the meet up.
Belinda - Yay @ your cleaning frenzy.
I took myself off to the Dr on Thursday about a few things, my arm which is still no better, pap smear and decided to start the mini pill. Anyway my arm is CTS like I thought it was, Dr is hoping once Adrian is up and about more my arm will get better and also told me to splint it at night, hmmm I have a 6 month old to get up to at night, he also told me to get my husband to do the washing, what a joke!!!!! He gets annoyed at me when I mentioned it`s painfull so he`s not likely to help me out. So as I said my children are breaking my body.
My Mum has $1000 worth of free qantas travel, she wants to take me and the boys somewhere, if we go before May Matthew travels for free, so where should we go?
I measured Matthew`s length today and he`s grown 4 cms in 3 months, he`s now 91cms, he has started to look a bit skinny but they do say between 2 - 4yrs they do slim down, he`s forver on the go but still eats well.

Hey Girls :)
Sarah, hows Zander's arm? Poor little fella! Hows the whole fair trading thing going?
Deb, sounds like you had a busy day in Geelong!! It must've been nice to visit 'home' even for that little while... have you settled in to your new place? Must be different!
Dee, Owwch!! You are breaking!! Sounds like you need some help! You need to tell Mark that if he can't help you will have to hire someone because you'll be in plaser soon if it keeps up ;)
Melanie, I hope all goes well tomorrow :)
I have the house to myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wato went out the river for the night and asked his parents if they wanted to have the girls for the night. So i get a whole night of peace and quite :)
Emily had her 1st day at 3yo kinda Friday... she loved it!! Here's a pic http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...ay3yo9-2-7.jpg

Hey Tanya, his little arm is getting better slowly. On the fair trading front I'm just waiting now, they said someone would contact me in 14days & it's a week tomorrow. Yay on a night to yourself, sounds great, so what did you do? And OMG at Emily's kinder photo, she looks so much like you :)
Aww Dee, sounds like you are falling apart. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon & that Mark helps a bit more than he has been. Wow at Matthew's length, Zander is still only around 84cm & slimming down as well. None of his size 1 pants fit him LOL, he's only in 0's most of the time!
Good luck for the party today Melanie, I'm sure it will go well :)
Deb LOL at Miss Gabby, sounds like she wants to be boss all the time! I'm sure she'll grow out of it though.
As for us, we have Piper's 2nd birthday party today. It's pouring down with rain & has been since 8.00 last night, so I doubt they'll be going in the little pool like was planned! We bought her a little Dora thing for her present, it's a flower with each of the petals having different colours & it says the colour in Spanish & English as well as talking about what things are each colour. Zander loved it when we bought it the other day, so he might be getting one for his birthday too.
Speaking of which, what is everyone planning for birthday presents this year? I find it really hard cos Christmas has only just gone & the toys have to be advanced enough to get them through another 9 months IYKWIM. So far he's getting a fan for his new room & mini Dyson from my parents, toy sorter rack thing for his new room from us and a table & chairs from my sister. Otherwise I have no idea. Anyone wanna give me some suggestions?!
-
Sarah...Watched a movie and went to bed!! BLISS!!!!!!!!!!1
As for the birthday thing, we (wato and I) were discussing this only Friday... I think we are going to get her a Buzz Lightyear (Emily and Violet LOVE Woody and Buzz) and maybe one of those jumping ball things with the ears.. not sure if she is too young and Emily will use it more... but I know she loves them!! She hangs onto the ear things and jumps flinging it all over the place, laughing her head off!! Too cute!
But your right... it's a tough decision!
Tanya

I think I'm going to put a tall boy on layby for Gabby's room and ask family to contribute to that rather than get more toys etc. for her birthday. She's got SO much stuff and we only have a little house. I know it's a boring present (we'll still buy her 1 or 2 other things) but she's still too young to notice or care ;)
-
Same Deb, that's why he's getting a fan & toy stacker thing, I think next year and on we won't be able to get away with that ;)
-
Oh for sure... next year it'll be "Where's my present?" LOL
-
Ooohhh... I thought of something that Violet loves... She just loves playing with Emily's Magnadoodle :) Not sure if you think it would be too old for them, but just a thought :)
Tanya
-
Tanya, I don't think it's too old for them at all. When Thomas arrived, he brought a present for Jack which was one of those magnetic sketchers. He loves it and uses it all the time.
I agree with you all, we have the same thing with Jack. With 5 grandparents he gets way too many clothes and toys. He has 30 t-shirts in his current size and enough toys to fill a toy shop. I mentioned this to everybody this year but guess what - we still got lots of toys. And my MIL who knows he has too many clothes as she bought most of them, bought him more clothes. And a Thomas the Tank Engine Duplo set as well as she didn't think she'd got him enough - WTF!!!! I would really prefer people to put money in his bank account or buy him books or something like that.
Jack's party went pretty well yesterday. Luckily the other mums were really helpful. I had underestimated how hard it would be to entertain, provide food and drinks for adults and kids, and look after two of our own as well. But they all seemed to enjoy themselves so that's the main thing.
Well, today is my first day of not having 2 under 2 anymore and it doesn't seem any easier yet LOL!!
-
LOL at it not being easier yet Melanie! Glad the party went well though :)
I'm now thinking of buying a mini mouse for Zander & also a game for the computer. As for the magnadoodle, he's a bit rough with textas / pencils / crayons, so at this stage it wouldn't last long!
-
hey just marking a spot
being pottering around, had a crap weekend and was ill on saturday which might of been a drink spiking, but better now, just so tired
Mason and Luke are at daycare and school today but i have to go to bank, gggrr to having a passbook account sometimes, but harder to get to money when i really want some so good as well lol
-
Hey all,
Had my first meltdown today with the two children. OMG - I bawled and bawled!! I think Hamish is having a growth spurt, but he is getting terrible tummy pains with it. Poor sausage. So he hasn't slept properly (like more than 30mins) since 9pm last night. I had a baaaaaaad night. And Jenna is cutting her eye teeth - her hands are in her mouth constantly (better than someone elses I guess ;) ) so she is sleeping really badly too.
So big meltdown :(
Tanya - Shane bought one of those ball hopper things for Jenna for Christmas, and I put it away for a few more months. She seems to little fir it, but maybe we will try it for 2nd birthday?
Sarah - sorry to hear the bed rail saga continues. You can get some pretty tough magnadoodles - I reckon we might try something liek that for jenna maybe? SHe loves drawing in the shower.
Deb - Gabby wasn't that feral. Well OK - she was pretty feral, but Jenna didn't have any problems with it.
OK - baby screaming. I'm supposed to be having a break, but I'm going to feed him - once again. My boobs are so sore - I have fed every 2hrs since about 1am last night. Tell me it gets better girls, I'm having trouble remembering the fun times.
-
Fi, I have pretty much the same gap between my boys as you do between Jenna and Hamish. It definitely gets better. You have done amazingly well to get this far without a meltdown. I am sure I had one earlier than that. The first 3 months were really hard, but in the last 3 or 4 weeks Thomas has settled down a lot and suddenly it all seems so much easier. And definitely more enjoyable. I am now enjoying Tom so much more. You don't have long to go and I bet you'll see what I mean. Hang in there! BTW Tom had a growth spurt like that at the same age and I hear you on the nipples! LOL! My thoughts are with you.
Sarah, those doodlers are really tough. You should see what Jack's has survived LOL!
Jack had a great birthday today. He keeps saying "happy birthday Jack" and "birthday presents" LOL. Wow, where did 2 years go?
ETA It's also a year yesterday since we found out that Tom was on his way. Where did that year go also??
-
Fi, I was just reading your post in Cailin's walking thread. You and I have a lot in common. Jack also walked at 9.5 months. I am now worried Tom will also be an early walker. He first rolled from front to back at 3.5 weeks, Jack didn't do that until 7.5 weeks. Also he is commando crawling and rolling from back to tummy better than Jack was at the same age. Uh oh - I'm not ready for another one being mobile (well any more mobile than he already is LOL).
-
Hugs Fi. I hope last night was a better night for you. I can only imagine how hellish things are at the moment with 2 unsettled bubbas.
-
 Zander's blinds are going to be here today!! He'll be in his big bed tonight (or tomorrow :) ).
Belinda, I hope you're feeling better today
Fi I hope the sleep situation gets better for you.
Happy birthday to Jack for yesterday :)
-
Oh Fi - Hugs to you, it does get better, I remember my first melt down and somedays it still happens but it is enjoyable, especially when the day comes and Hamish is actually starting to interact with Jenna, that`s just beautiful to see.
Happy Birthday Jack for yesterday, sounds like he had a great time. Jack sounds like Matthew with all his toys, far too many, I have 4 big plastic bozes filled up with his toys plus more scattered around.
Sarah - I`m not sure what we`re getting Matthew for his birthday, got another 2.5 months to decide, oh I do have a magna doodle away for him, I was going to give it to him when I was having Adrian but I forgot all about it. Woohoo for Zander`s blinds arriving.
Tanya - Great photo of Emily.
Adrian started solids on Thursday, I wondered what Matthew would do as he`s forever wanting to feed Adrian his food over the last 6 months anyway so it came to mixing the food up, here I am telling Matthew it`s Adrian`s special baby food so Matthew decided he better try it out first, after 4 attempts all which ended up with Matthew shuddering at the taste he decided Adrian can have it LOL
Matthew came down with a high temp on Saturday, not sure what it was all about, he`s fine now.
Going to make up some new playdough this afternoon, I made a batch 5 months ago and it was still good until yesterday, I think it`s the longest lasting playdough I know, Matthew loves playing with it.
Had a rough night last night, yet again, I wish this 6 month phase would be over, Adrian decided that between 1.30am and 5pm he`d get up 4 times, this doesn`t include his earlier wake up.
-
YAYAYAY! We survived our first night in a big boy bed :D He came out once & I said no it's time for sleep (caught him before he even left the room). So 10 mins later I checked on him & he was asleep!! He woke once & I think was confused where he was, but that was it. Aaaaand he didn't fall out :D I'm thrilled. Let's just hope it continues.
-
Well done Zander! That's great news Sarah. We found with Jack that he was great for the first 2 weeks, then we had one night where he kept getting up, but we kept putting him back and telling him he had to stay there. Soon he got the message and went to sleep and we haven't had any problems since. Hopefully you'll find Zander will keep up the good work too. I am sure a good first night is a very good sign.
Dee, I hope things settle for you soon.
Fi, how are you doing sweetie? Have you caught up on some sleep?
Thanks for the birthday wishes for Jack. He had a great day. He loves getting presents LOL!
Tom has had an unsettled couple of days and nights too, but is asleep now so hopefully we are through the worst of it.
-
Yay Sarah, must've been a huge relief! I hope it continues.
