Morning all (whoops afternoon actually!!) I'm losing track of time bigtime these days..
Tenny - I'm glad he's back to normal - I hate it when they have unsettled days... I usually have a little helper passing me toilet paper when I'm on the toilet, or trying to post it in between my legs.. lol
I'm feeling very well actually about becoming a mother 2nd time over - more calm than I was before when I just had one - and totally loving it - which I can't say that I have EVER felt before!!!!! Dunno, maybe its still hormones and I'll be back to my cranky, impatient self before too long... lol
Kel - ooh we didn't think of looking at giving it that way!!! We just took it to mean every four hours - no matter what... hmmm... interesting.... sometimes its longer than 4 hours of course, depending on how much she sleeps. She's been sleeping all day today - probably mean I'll be up all night tonight!!! That pic of Jess is gorgeous even with the rash - he's sooo cute!!!!!
Kristy - I think you should be given a medal - hanging OUT washing? oh my lord, its hard enough to get mine on the clothes horse every second day... pmsl...
Anastasia - I'm still bleeding of course. Sometimes I think it has stopped, then I'll feel a flood and whooopss... she's back... LOL Oh and I wrap DD all the time no matter what time of day or night it is, she likes to feel secure and if I don't wrap her, she will wake up as soon as I put her down
Zee - I'm doing half the ironing - do DH's work clothes and stuff everything else.. it can wait.. lol I hope Lucas slept ok for you.
Missy - man oh man you are a hard worker.. back at work already!??! Watching movies sounds good though Try not to work too hard mate!!!
Pixie - we use flats here at the moment, in between other fitted nappies, and we use Bummis covers and motherease - mother ease covers ROCK.. seriously.. they are AWESOME.
I think that is all I was going to say. Can't remember. Must go have pepsi to wake up. And probably hang some washing out cos Kristy has made me feel like a slack ar$e.. lol
Thanx girls for that I still wrap Jonathan during the day & night. Once he hits the 3 or 4 months mark I will stop wrapping him, depends how he goes cause he will go into his own room at that time. Do any of u girls let ur babies cry themselves to sleep or do u comfort them after their feeds? Sometimes Jonathan cries after his feed & he wants me to comfort him which I do but I don't want him to get used to it as he will be in his room at 3/4 months like I said. Everytime he cries I go back & forth back & forth. But at night he's good (I don't want to jinx myself).
Anastasia - I did a form of controlled crying with DS when he was about 2 months old - basically we just let him cry himself to sleep. Couldn't imagine doing that again, its very hard to listen to them bawl... at the moment we help DD get to sleep - cos after all that controlled crying and DS still isn't a great sleeper, so we don't think it makes a difference!!!! At the moment we have to be beside the cot for DS to get to sleep, and he's 19 months old!!!!! Fat lot of good controlled crying did in our house.
So at the moment we rock or sorta jiggle DD to sleep....
And she has been sleeping all day!!! This isn't looking good for tonight.. seriously, she woke up at 12 for a feed, and my mum fed her, then she went back to sleep (and even when she "woke" up she wasn't very awake.. had her eyes closed the whole time.. )
Maybe she's growing.. or something.. hope she's not sick!!!
Well where has today gone!! I have to say it has been a very unsettled day here in my household Isabel hasn't slept today yet! I have been trying to put her down since her last feed at 1:30pm. I think she is asleep and then she starts crying.. She may finally be down but next door is b$$$dy drilling and it's so annoying.
Tasia - yes I wrap Isabel pretty much all the time except when she is playing on her gym mat.
Mel - Isabel slept pretty much all day yesterday hence her not sleeping today I'm sure she will sleep tonight. Plus I don't think that she is sick could be just a growth spurt.
Missy - Wow back at work already you go girl. Who is looking after your little ones?
Tenny - Honestly I am feeling very tired and drained. I am always worrying that I'm not doing things correctly and sometime Isabel really tests me even at this age.. But I do love being a mum and I'm sure that it will get better.
to B, Belle, Jess, Tanis, Skittlebub, Pixie, Kell, Kristy and everyone else.
Well we had our first Mothers group yesterday and Isabel slept the whole time which was nice. There are 10 of us in the group which is nice and they all sound lovely hopefully we'll make some good friends out of this whole experience. Has everyone else started to attend their Mothers group yet??
I think that I might have a cuppa now that it sounds all quiet in this house, I'll BBL to catch up if I'm able to. Have a lovely afternoon/night all.
You girls are all doing so well to post and do everything, im so tired lately I havent even had time to get online, but we have gone out every day in the morning with the girls so I guess thats why im super tired too. Tara didnt sleep well last night either, 4am feed didnt sleep much after only about 30 mins or so then 7am feed or bit before then had long sleep on my chest and I fell asleep too then 8am feed went well then we went out at 9.30am as she didnt want to go back to sleep then she slept in the sling against me until 1pm so I think I may have a clingy one!!! wants only me rather than her bassinet.... I let DH sleep last night and I got up to her so he had unbroken sleep so maybe thats why im so tired today...who knows...
Mez - yay on new MG thats great, do you have sessions on how to settle your baby and feeding etc like that? our last MG had that for 5 sessions then we were on our own to organise weekly catchups outside the centre. I hear you on the no sleep always crying. I started to try dummies at sleep but she only takes them when she wants.. have you tried one? Sometimes Tara doesnt like them at all she has to be inthe mood for it lol.
Mel - honey the first growth spurt is around 3 weeks isnt it? try not to worry hon, if she has regular poo and wees she will be ok.
Tasia - we did a form of controlled crying in our house too with Julia but we only let her cry for 2 mins thats it. Couldnt handle her crying. It was so difficult. When she was 3 months we stopped wrapping her best thing we did we put her in a growbag and she was great she always loved her arms being free and slept with then above her head LOL she slept great in a growbag, so Im doing the same this time with Tara, no more wrapping after 3 months. Growbags are the best invention! Happy birthday for sunday! Re J's feeding how many feeds does he have per day on average? If its 6 just divide 670mls by 6 and that gives you the amount of mls he needs per feed to meet the quota. I dont wake Tara up at night either, but she wakes herself up every 4 hours, at the moment she feeds at 9pm 11pm 4am, 7am, 9am, 12noon, 3pm, 6pm etc... I feed Tara earlier before 2 hourly feeds if she is mouthing for it or eating my shoulder or DHs shoulder or crying and nothing will console her but my feeding her.
Kell - thats great your CCN came to visit, they do here too, sorry to hear she has little tounge tie hon. No wonder so many issues feeding.
Feeb - fabulous re Jacobs weight gain! do you weigh him every week? wonder how often I should.
Kristy - hiya mate, you are doing so well with 3 boys! sounds like you are great hon and you even manage to go out too! Hugs re posting and losing I understand, They say BF babies dont need water as our milk is more watery apparently. I only started giving Julia water when I started solids and she was BF and also fed 2 x formula bottles a day.
Tenny - wow allthese twins!!! Hows Hayden today? good to see you. I do feel like im losing myself I look after everyone first and then me, its hard with more than 1 child too hey. I just got to make sure I drink and eat lol. Otherwise I get real crabby.
Pixie - you sound like you are doing so well and such a great sleeper Beth is too! thanks for the Deli tips from Bear! good point about tshirt and pants instead of the all in one suit, never thought about that, all those press studs are getting to me lol im going to try pants tomorrow!
Zee - honey I did get your text did you get mine back??? Hows Lucas and Laila? Housework! lol whats that? I dont believe in ironing and either does DH! so makes it easier on us. It is hard I agree with Kell to do housework with 2 kids. Mind you Julia loves helping me hand the washing on the line ! and she puts her clothes away too to help shes so cute!
Pixie - hon I forgot to mention our childhood centre had drop in days where you go in and write your name on a whiteboard and the nurses go down the list and you get so see them when the next nurse is free, thats twice a week at our centre, we went there this week to get Tara weighed, it was great just to go there and we just waited for 20mins to see someone, can you ask if your centre does that too? re Covers, I have some covers I can lend you hon, so you can test them out and see what you like? Im not using them at the moment, I havent converted to cloth yet, slaps my own wrist, I have a full bag waiting for me full of nappies and covers from my lovely friends MAZ and Chrissy happy to share with you so you can try some out. When you feel up to it we can meet up if you like for coffee at Leighhardt (ps I love the Forum!) happy to come that way and I can give you them.
SW - good to hear from you mate, how ru today?
Tania - how ru too hon?
Hope I dont lose this post!
Hello to everyone else if I have missed anyone, I will come back for more personals, time for dinner and feeding Tara...
Missy I can't believe you're back at work already!
And who mentioned ironing? I never iron, it's against my religion. Even when I was working I just didn't buy any work shirts that needed ironing or I sent them to the laundry. The Bear has to iron his own shirts, bless him, he does a much better job than I would!
Thanks everyone for all the tips on covers! And thanks heaps Belle for the offer of a loan! Sounds good, we will have to get together for a coffee soon - give me another week or so and then we'll organise it!
I would like to use mcns but if Dad is going to pay for the nappy service then I am happy to use that for six months, then go on to MCNs. I have some small MCN's for when DD needs to look extra spunky, but for everyday happy to use cloth especially if someone is washing them for me! When she was in the hospital she had to wear cloth nappies some of the time and she seemed fine with them. And I have got the magic pawpaw ointment that worked brilliantly on her nappy rash!
Tasia I only wrap DD if she is going to sleep in her hammock. Other than that if she is just snoozing in her rocker or her car seat I don't.
Mel DD has been sleeping HEAPS too! Maybe it's just the age? hope its that and doesn't mean she is going to be awake all night!
Kristy - you're a legend mate.
Tenny - The Bear and I are just in bliss mode.... maybe the hormones haven't worn off yet! LOL good to hear Hayden is back to normal. everyone else
Anastasia.. i dont think its really recommended to control cry at this age as theyre still too young to try and manipulate iykwim. Atm them crying i guess is really their only way to communicate and usually is because theres something wrong, rather than not wanting to go to bed. We did somewhat with Jesse i think around 6 months. Was after he was past the colic stage and bringing up the wind himself and when he was starting to just not want to go to bed. Up until then i would comfort him to sleep. Hes a great sleeper once we've put him to bed. Will do the same with Keira.
Yeh at the moment, its either shes on our shoulder and gets tapped, or rocked or we walk or sit and tap or even use the bouncer (has a vibration).
Mez.. oh sorry Izzy's been playing up. Does she have wind? Have you tried that Colic Relief? We kinda had a mothers group with Jesse.. not sure if ill look for one with Keira.. its quite hard atm trying to juggle the 2 kids. Am going to start Jesse in Day Care next year so maybe the day he goes we might do something. But thats great you found one. You will find it great comparing notes
Belle.. sorry you had a bad night. Hope tonights alot better. Having a toddler too tires you out alot aswell i think. But youre doing great!
I dont iron either. My clothes iron themselves on the clothes line lol. The most ive ever used out iron was to iron on transfers to shirts i made for Jesse
Kell - No I haven't tried the colic relief, today I bought Gripe Water and going to try that but I really don't know if she has colic or if it's reflux? She is asleep at the moment so that's good. I gave her 10mls of warm water this morning which seemed to work. My MG was organised by my MHCH for first time mums.
Belle - Isabel has the dummy when she is crying heaps it helps settle her, whatever helps me I'm happy to do. But like Tara she doesn't always take it only when she is in the mood for it. I do believe that they will tell us about how to settle your bubs in one of our session which will be great. Can't wait I'm looking forward to making new friends as most of my friends have kids that are much older.
