Babies Born July 2007 #25

Hello August! I thought we had a newbie then I worked out who it was. So nice to have you back! There's been lots of name changes - I can't remember what I was when you were last on here but this is Emma. How are the wedding plans going? Is Lucas going to be part of the wedding? Poor little thing with his collarbone. Is there anything they can do for him? They can't plaster it, can they? Please don't feel like a bad mummy - we were recently on here discussing all the bumps and bruises our boys are getting.

Jess - T's favourite shows are Lazy Town and Chuggington on ABC. I don't mind either of them so it's not too bad. He did have a Wiggles obsession for a while but then realised there was more options! I used to be quite strict on tv watching time but I'm lazy now. We do try to have times during the day when it's not on. He stands in front of it though and says "Go go go" (Lazy town theme song) and "Chugg Chugg". Hope your mum is ok. You are a lovely daughter with the nice big bunch of flowers!

Was going to try to do a proper post tonight but I can't really be bothered. Sorry :redface:. I'll come back tomorrow and type all the things I was going to. I'm being lazy tonight. Talk tomorrow x

Hi Em, Sacha, Mel, Raels, Jess, August (welcome back :)), Nicky. I've been hit with the boring stick, I just feel like I've got nothing much to say. I'm hoping that once Liam decides to have a decent nights sleep or 3 I'll be more up to being interesting, but right now I'm just pooped. It's DF's birthday today, he's been very spoilt, cos we had choc mud cake last night when my family came to visit him and Lemon Meringue pie tonight with his Bro & the new gf. Very significant that we got to meet the gf, so fingers crossed it works out well. She was a nice girl, first impressions are that he's done well. Liam looovves candles, very funny watching him try to blow them out. As some of you will know already, we've found the BM dresses (woo hoo),so big weight off my shoulders, and the hair lady called me back today. And I bought a really tacky wedding cd today, you should see the picture on the front of it, kitsch heaven, but just trying to work out processional/recessional stuff & everything that goes in between, so it's kind of useful It's a small chapel, so will have to be a fairly short piece of music for walking up the aisle, cos I think we'll make the distance between entry & standing point in about 10 seconds if we're really slow.

August - how're all your plans going? I'm finding the time is slipping away so quickly, there's so much to do. Poor Lucas with his broken collarbone.

Jess - fingers crossed that it's all gone well for your mum. our favourite shows are wiggles, thomas, night garden & just recently Brum. Mind you, these are our favourites because they're the only things that mummy will put onto the television. And even with the wiggles, mummy only plays the ones with Greg in them, Sam annoys her too much, he's just too cheesy.

Sacha - my sympathies for the hi-5 obsession, i just want to smack those girls out most of the time. But from what I've heard (statistically significant survey of oooh, 1), girls seem to like Hi-5, boys like Wiggles. Autie's need for kisses for imaginary hurts is so cute. Which teeth is she getting? Are we already up to 2yo molars?

Mel - how clever is Jack! Liam can count to one, one, one, one :) I'm sure he'll get there though. How is your sister going with her new DD? The oats might be worth a try, the problem with that is that I love porridge, but only when it's drowned in sugar & am powerless to resist, so it's really not good for the waistline. I'm thinking of trying him on quinoa porridge which I make with apple juice, so not really porridge at all, just grains boiled up in apple juice, but tasty, especially when I put slices of apple in with it to steam up.

Em - what can I say, I feel your not be bothereds. Sometimes you just need me time to re-energise, and personals don't really count as me-time.

Raels - how are you going out there? How's Oliver's sleeping etc? Any more progress on the bed decision?


Somebody mentioned about bumps & bruises and things that kids do to themselves. Liam's got these really weird faint bruises on his inner thighs, at least they look like bruises, as I don't think that his legs are big enough to rub together to get clothing dye on them, plus he has no new clothes anyway. I've NO idea how/what could have done it, but sending him to d/c with big bruises kind of freaks me out. He's not upset by them at all, but it's somewhat concerning, I'd be horrified if anyone thought we were doing anything to hurt him in anyway, but I just can't explain it. Still got nasty nappy rash, seems like nothing we do gets rid of it completely, we get close, but then it comes back with a vengeance. on a funnier note, we have discovered that tomato sauce makes the food go down really well. We can't believe how much he'll eat when it's flavoured with tom sauce. As long as it doesn't extend to cereal...

Okay, enough babble from me, time to go to bed. Take care everyone.

Hi girls!!!
So sorry I haven't been in for ages! I have still been unwell, although not as unwell as the other week which is good.
I got to see bubs at another scan last Wednesday and she's still a she! Saw all her little girly bits. Very exciting. She's spot on for dates which is fab. All seems to be going well and the umbilical cord issue is not really an issue, which is fantastic!

So thought I'd pop in and say, I'm still alive, just lazy. lol
Will try and keep up from now on.

We've got playgroup today... Lachie's fave! Looking forward to sitting down and letting him go nuts.

just a quick update from me, it's not bruising, it's dye from his nappys. I had a bit more of a scrub at the marks with a nappy wipe today, which turned a comforting shade of blue, so I'm very relieved to report that Liam doesn't have bruises on his legs. I had a bunch of moles cut off my back today, nothing sinister, they were just ugly, so feeling a bit sore tonight, as the anaesthetic has all worn off. It's going to be a pain in the neck dealing with them while they heal, cos I can't twist & turn particularly, but hopefully when the bandages come off it will be worthwhile.

Nicky - yay for still having a girl, isn't it lovely when you get to see them and all is going well. Now if only they could find something to stop you feeling so sick all the time.

Jan, what kind of nappies are you using that the dye comes out?? Could that perhaps be contributing to Liam's rash? If they are disposables (I don't think you use cloth right?) he could be sensitive to whatever they're made of (which is not good stuff in most cases) If you don't want to go the cloth route, there are more natural disposables you can get that might be worth a try to get rid of his rash. How are you feeling today? I had some moles cut out on my back years ago and I remember how hard it was moving about.
Teethwise, Autie only has one molar on each gum so far, so I'm thinking it's molars but none are showing through atm.

Nicky, that's great news that Allira is happy and healthy and you are feeling a little better.

Well, Autie had a great night's sleep until 5 and when I went in, her room stunk and she had done a big chunky vomit all over her pillow at some stage during the night and then clearly slept in it. :sick: All dried through her hair, over her pjs and all through the sheets. Sorry, TMI! It's so weird I didn't hear her or she didn't cry. So we both had an early morning shower and now feels like we've been up all day. I thought I'd done a really thorough job on her hair, but she's sitting on my lap atm, and I am still getting a faint whiff - ewww. `I think a nice long soak in the bath is in order. In fact, I might do that now, I can't stand the thought of her being chucky-hair.
And quickly, before I go, I finally got my hair done yesterday and I'm soooo happy with it. Great colour and having it shorter is so much easier -hooray!

Sacha - I've always used huggies nappies, and not had a problem with them, so who knows if this is the change. I might give them a call to complain though, because it's only started happening with the latest size. I love the idea of cloth, but for some reason find it too overwhelming to consider, I don't really know anyone locally that uses them, & I'm a bit of a need to have a look first person before I jump in. I just remember the cloth nappies my mum used on my youngest sister, and her getting a nappy pin poked through here stomach - I suspect things have evolved somewhat from these days.

And oh no for Autie's big chunky spew. We had a couple of vomits last week that were huge, but after which Liam was perfectly happy,bouncy even, so maybe Autie just had one of those. Hopefully you've got the smell out..
And yay for your new hairdo, doesn't it make you feel so nice when it's freshly done. I'm with Mel...photos if you dare:)

Well, miracle in this house. Liam is asleep in his cot. Screamed for about 10 minutes, but then it's gone all peacefully silent. Hoping to get a nice long one from him. He pulled a DVD stand onto himself earlier, which gave me a huge fright. Fortunately it was mostly empty, so not a big weight, but a moment that you just don't want to have.

Arggh! Just settled down to do a post and of course Tom wakes up. I'll be quick.

Jan - firstly yay to finding your bridesmaids dresses. It's all coming together now! If you want to see how far cloth has come, go to my favourite site "ittibitti.com.au". I am slightly addicted, as are some of the other girls (Nicky, Sacha... ;)). A girlfriend of mine recently rang Huggies to complain about a leaky batch, and they got her to send one back to them for testing, and then they sent her heaps of freebies, so definiately worth a call.

We had a chucky baby here yesterday too. We were woken up to the sound of T being sick at 5am, so I ran in and grabged him. Next thing, I had to pass him to DH and go and be sick myself. DH was like "Oh no, your sick too. This happened last time". I was like "Yeah, oh no". In reality I think I am a sympathy spewer. I took him out to the lounge to lay on the couch with him, and next thing I know he gets up to go and play on his bike. So weird. He was fine - then about half an hour later - spew everywhere and then he was fine again. It pretty much continued like that for the whole day. It was the longest day ever having started at 5am. Yawn.

I think I'm pushing my luck here - he is definiately awake "Mummy, Daddy?? Help!". Talk soon x

I'm just messing around before I go to bed, I put some tomatoes & onions in the oven to do a slow roast so I can turn them into pasta sauce, and just waiting for them to finish cooking. Annoying having to wait, but worth the effort once it's done.

Looks like DF is heading home to Scotland for a couple of weeks in early April, as his mum has been taken into full-time care & they have to clean her house out. Very sad for him, she has alzheimers, and has deteriorated incredibly rapidly over the last 6 months particularly, probably won't recognise him when he goes home. It really is one of the cruelest things that can happen to someone & their family.

Jan...Jaaaaaaannnnn....come over to the dark side...we'll show you the waaaaaay. You'll never be the same again - cue evil laugh. Seriously, I know what you mean about cloth seeming overwhelming, but picture this - a disposable...made of cloth (in lots of different pretty patterns and colours) - uh, that's it really. Only difference is you save up two day's worth and throw them all in the washing machine - no soaking, no pins, no bleaching. Beware, it's addictive and you can become a bore to those who aren't interested - LOL
I'm so sorry to hear about Pat's mum - it really is such an awful disease for everyone. Hope the trip has some happy moments too .:pray: Hooray for the cot sleep, Liam! :clap:

Em, I'm with Jan - Tom is too cute with his calls for help. Would love to hear it! I just get the screaming wake-up call... Sorry, but had a little giggle at your sympathy spew. I've done a lot of spew clean ups in my career, and the thing that brings me closest to an SS is when you can feel the warmth of it, even through latex gloves and paper towel...Ewww, next topic.

Mel, Jan - I just don't know if I can do photos - I'm not overly keen on them atm. But you are kind to ask and maybe I'll get brave enough if I use Autie as a prop. ;)

Hi Everyone,

I HAVEN'T POSTED IN HERE IN AGES! All is going well with us I'm 35weeks preg as of sat so not long before Noah officially becomes a big brother and we have a newborn in the house again! Ican't believe our "babies" are almost 2!!

Jas - I can't believe they're nearly 2 either. 2 used to seem so old when I looked at other kids, now I've got a kid that wanders around the shops going "baby", "baby", when he sees kids that are littler than him - not sure when he became so mature, but it's pretty cute. Enjoy your last few weeks of one-on-one with Noah.

Very quiet in here again, I had a big whinge in the Boohoo room but I'm happily over it now, cos had a good chat with my sister, and we're back on track. Also had a whinge about the BM dresses, which probably sounds worse than it was, cos I do like the dresses, they just weren't quite what I was imagining, but the girls are both so happy with them that it makes me feel happy about it too ultimately. Part of the whinge was also PMT induced, having one of those days when I was just downright cranky about, well, everything. Still a bit cranky today, but not as bad as yesterday.

And I've found a magic solution to getting Liam to eat his dinner all up - tomato sauce! Conspicuously poured all over his food so he sees it going on, and giving it a good covering, otherwise we get told "more, more", but then it's all systems go. BBQ sauce also works pretty well. Not sure how long this phase will last, but he's had some really good sized dinners the last few nights, which always makes me happy. Still got really bad nappy rash though, can't seem to get any kind of a break on that. We're home pretty much all day tomorrow, so I'm thinking that we're having many hours of nappy off time, see if that helps at all.

I have been having trouble getting BB to open for me lately so i havent been able to post... I havent realy read thro everyones posts. But i just wanted to say hello to everyone....
Im another mum that CANT believe our "BABYS" are almost 2. My niece turns 2 in 3 weeks and its soooo hard to believe it feels like only a few weeks ago we were all talking about their 1st birthday partys...

I had the scare of my life yesterday, DP rang me at about 1030 yesterday morning acting abit strange and out of breath and says to me Um I have just been crushed between a forklift and my truck you mite wanna meet me at the hospital we have just called an ambo... I was half way thro my food shopping and i just started balling my eyes out in the middle of coles Dp hung up the phone as he was having trouble talking so i went to the checkout and brought the few items i had in my trolley and packed the car and then i started to shake so i rang my mum and told her what had happned and asked her if she could meet me at the Hosp so she could take bayleigh then i rang MIL to let her know she told me should meet me down at the hosp so i put bayleigh in the car and speed to the hosp I was doing 100km in a 50km but i didnt care at that moent of time i just wanted to get to the hosp so i went in to the A&E and they told me DP hadnt arived yet so i went out the front and my mum was pulling into the carpark and i just burst into tears Bayleigh was saying awww mummy and giving me cuddles... I was waiting about 5 mins and decided iwould ring one of DP work mates to see if the ambo had left and he said he wasnt sure as the accident happened off site so i rang my FIL as he rang me earlier to tell me he was heading straight to DP anyway he said they were 2 sec away and then i seen the ambo drive into the carpark one the ambo pulled into the bay i ran over to DP and just froze and the ambo guy said you can talk to him with that DP said hi baby and that was th eend of me i was howling... Anyway they stableised him in A&E and wen were allowed to get in and see him They thought he had broken collarbone and a few broken ribs so they did Chest and shoulder Xrays at about 2pm and the Dr came back shaking his head and we said whats broken and he said you are one lucky bloody man and how you have come out of a forklift accident without anythign broken is beyond us all here coz nothing at all is broken its all soft tissue damage and bruising.... All the nurses came in and said can we get your Photo coz you are a forklift accident pin up boy.. I have told DP he needs to get an office job coz i dont want another phone call like i had coz it scared the crap out of me..

oh speaking of the devil DP needs to have shower so i better go and help him.. I promise i will copme back in and do some sort of personals in the next few days

Hello and thank you for all the lovely welcome backs! Lucas is doing okay. He broke his collarbone bone from falling forward out of his little camp chair onto sand. He must have fallen with his arm outstretched. I honestly thought he got a fright more than hurt himself, and I still cannot believe how easily it happened. He climbs the stairs and stands on the furniture all the time, but to take a fall from less than a foot high onto sand...Anyway we have kept him as still as possible and he should be all better in a couple of weeks, as the younger you are the faster it heals.

OMG Sarah, you poor thing, that must have been terrifying. I'm glad he is o.k, I hope you went to buy a lotto ticket last night, as he sounds like he has luck on his side at the moment. I bet he is feeling sore today.... Fingers crossed he heals quick for you.

August, these little boys are buggers aren't they. It's amazing how something so minor cause break bones. My nephew when he was 18 months old broke his femur (thigh bone) completely in half, by falling over a plastic mower, well so his fathers parents said. The doctors were shocked as that bone is meant to be stronger than cement, but just proves, they are buggers, lol. Glad he is o.k. and will be back to normal is a couple of weeks.

BBL again, promise this time. Have to run.

Jan - that's so sad about Pat's mum. How is he feeling about it? Glad you found a solution in the tomato sauce. I would love it if Tom would do that! He hates anything tomato unfortunately. How is the hen's day drama going? I hate the thought of people embarassing others on their hen's day/night.

Sarah - how lucky is Chris! You must of got such a fright. Is he back at work now or taking some time off?

I'm a bit fuzzy headed today for some reason so I can't think of what other personals there is! It's rainy and cold here today so I am going to go get a roast ready for tea - oh roast meat, how I have missed you over the summer!
Things are ok here. T has been quite sick with gastro still so it's been yuk. I am now getting the whole house steamed cleaned, plus the rugs and the couch. He seems to have the ability to vomit everywhere rather than in one spot . He is still very much off his food - hasn't eaten any dinner for the past 3 nights - and has developed the habit of gagging on everything. I'll see how he goes once he's a bit better. I've kind of let things slide a bit while he's been sick. He was having no wet nappies so I panicked and let him have juice- he'll probably never drink water ever again :rolleyes:. There's also been lots of lying on the couch all day watching ABC kids. I turned it off this morning after Chuggington finished and he grabbed the remote and was desparately trying to turn it back on. I may of created a monster!
Ok - off to cook and move furniture for the steam cleaning guy tomorrow. Talk soon x
