Relle, Doula works sounds great. I never thought I'd be wanting to be one. How do manage the on call with the 3 kids???? I told DH that I would love to become a Doula in a few years and he said he didn't know how it could be possible with him doing shift work as well. Do you ever have any probs? I feel bad for saying this, but I feel the same way about Jack. I'm enjoying him so much more than I did with Charlee at his age. Maybe he hasn't had enough time to push me to the end like she sometimes does

Veronica, what a clever chicky Avaleigh is.

I know that they say tummy time is very important for babies, but my 2 hate it. I mean Charlize hated it as a baby and so does Jack. I know it's slack and I should be persistant, but most days I just don't even bother trying anymore. I'm not to worried about strenghening up their neck muscles and both of them have been able to hold their head from birth (must have been all that VJ bashing). But is their another reason why they say it's important? Charlee still learnt to roll over with my help when she was older, and she is o.k. now with everything. Should I be persistant with Jack even though Charlee was fine? The difference between the two of them ATM is that Jack isn't wrapped anymore, where as Charlee was up until 7 months of age and that stopped her from rolling over in her sleep while she was younger. Do you think this is a reason it's important for them to have tummy time early on, to encourage them to roll over earlier so if they do during their sleep, they can roll back to avoid SIDS. Sorry for the 1ooo and 1 questions, its just always bothered me and I have never asked a MCHN or anything.

Apparently in about 7 months I will be a qualified midwife - yikes!

Mel - I am hearing you, with 2 older brothers there is no way that Angus gets hardly any tummy time cause he is pushing it just to get enjoyable time on the floor.

I think it is mainly to help tone their neck and also arm muscles for when they get ready to crawl as well as roll over, but I haven't heard of any babies that have not been able to do that even without alot of tummy time unless there has been bigger developmental issues going on as well iykwim.

I think they also like babies doing it to prevent the flattening of the skull as the bones develop as well, but the other way to try and avoid that is to move the cots around in their room so they look from different different sides of the head.

With the Doula work, it can be challenging with the births as I don't have any one family wise to call on, but so far I have been lucky adn they have been at night or on weekends so DH has been home. The other thing I am in the middle of organising is a nanny, but I would like Angus to be 6 months + before a nanny is looking after him. My parents are back for XMAs so I will be telling them that they are on call for me in Jan when I have 2 booked, as they awe me from being away for the last 10 months ( yes including Angus' birth. My parents will not meet him till he is 5 months old and that is a sore point! )

I actually had my very first payment from a client today and that was just bizarre! At least I can now say I am earning an income from it though!

Just a quick hidey ho... It's been hectic returning & having ppl popping in....
I will try on Monday to write up a bit about our holiday & add more pic's....
Zy also struggles to get tummy time as Indah wants to roll him back over onto his back...
But he has also held his head up from birth...
When the MCHN asks about Tummy Time I nod...??? LOL
He is super chubby now, I cant wait to get him weighed... LOL

Isnt it weird that we want our babies to gain weight & yet I want myself to lose it!!!???

Ok I'm heading off to sleep!!!!

    Good morning everyone

I am meant to be cleaning the house as DH has taken Oliver and Jesse to the markets and I said I would stay home and catch up on some jobs but I just cant be bothered!!

Hi Relle - that is so cool that you are enjoying your time with Angus and relishing him being a baby!! YAY!!

On the tummy time - Charlotte doesnt get enough either LOL!! I just keep forgetting (2 much else going on) but she seems fairly strong in her neck but I know I should still do it more!!

Mel - I am definitely going to have a gaytime today!! How is Cahrlize going at the moment? Jesse is being a little blighter at the moment GRRRR! He is teething so I know I shoudl be more forgiving but he is just so whingey and clingy which makes it hard to get anything done or spend time with the others. I know this will pass as usually he is pretty low key but gee wizz!! I keep telling myself "dont get frustrated with him, have patience etc etc".

Tracey - looking forward to hearing about the holiday!! I had a look at the picture of your new tattoo - it looks great.

V - what a clever little girl you have!!

    Hi to everyone else.

Hope you a have a great Sunday!

Jem, Charlee is teething too. And her exzema still bothers her heaps, so she is really pushing my buttons ATM. It's hard isn't it, when you know it's not their fault they're so miserable, but you just get so fustrated with them. I feel so guilty sometimes when I rous on her when she is like this, I feel like a horrible mother. Like you I just keep telling myself, keep calm don't stress!!! Go the gaytime, I still have 1 left in the freezer as I bought a box of 4, well 2 but DH loves them too.

We are off to a BBQ today, I love the meals you don't have to cook yourself, makes them so much yummier

Tracey, can't wait to see some update pics of Zyon and the girls.

    Hi all,

Jemima, yes very cute when he fell asleep, not so cute the scream that cam out when he woke up. he was not a happy chappy.

AMM, ooo PG rumors. You will have to keep us posted. I love the april fools idea, very funny.

Sacha, There are some really good New Zealand made growbags out of marion wool, but very very expensive. Like $150.00, but they really are grow bags in that they last till 2 or 4 years old. You can find them by googling grow suits I think.

Mel, and jemima, you two are naughty talking about food all the time. I'm trying to loose weight here ladies and your tempting me to no end.

Veronica, what a clever little girl you have. Xavier only practices throwing himself backwards to get to boobies. If she's sitting up she will have to go in the cot if she likes it or not, you wouldn't want her sitting up in the bassinet at night.

Relle, I think it's harder to enjoy the first time round with a bubs as it's like you don't know what you've got till it's gone, and it's so overwhelming and such a big change to go from doing whatever you want to working around this little needy person.

Tracey, Wow, Zyon's getting so big. I hope you guys had a great trip.. You would be cold comming back to victoria.

    Hi everyone

Welcome back Tracey! Hope you had a good trip. Your pics looks great.

V - for Avaleigh. Diana has alomst sat up a few times, but is not quite there yet. She sometimes looks like she is doing stomach crunches. So cute.

Jas - yay for Noah rolling over!

We finally gave in and bought Diana a pram today. I was hoping to avoid getting one, as they seem so huge and awkward, but the one we got (a BabyLove Trekker) is really light and manouverable and folds up really small. We took it for a spin this afternoon and Diana seems to like it. Unfortunately, my camera broke a few days ago, so I haven't been able to take any pictures. Have to get it fixed soon.

    Hi to everyone else.

Diana seems to have fallen asleep, so I better do some study. For those who have asked, I am doing a Master of Educational Leadership. It is a two year course, so after I finish this assignment, I have another year to go.

    hey everyone!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. We were busy in the backyard and front yard all weekend - hands a feeling a little delicate now!

I'll try and attempt some personals....

Zofia - how have you gone for so long without a pram??!! Good on you for studying - I dont think I could ever go back to school..

Jas - YAY for Noah rolling over!! Avaleigh has no interest in that

Rebecca - Avaleigh has been in the cot for a while now! She loves it and I love it too cause of the 8 hrs of sleep.

Tracey - welcome back and what great photos

LOL @ everyones chocolate cravings!! I've been good and havent had chocolate for nearly 6 weeks now!!

LOL @ the pregnancy confusion!! I am excited at the thought of being pregnant again but I dont think that will happen until Avaleigh is nearly 2 yrs old I think. To those who are wanting more kids - when are you planning to start again???

Well what is happening in my world.... I have been soo busy with all the wedding plans. All the major stuff is organised - YAY and now I just got to find some wedding shoes, jewelry, lingerie. Got to decide on wedding music and the ceremony layout... so really just got the small things to do. Not sure what to do about wedding shoes, had a look at a few shoe shops and cant find anything! Maybe I will buy something online..... I've been really getting in to my weight loss - the last week I went to the gym 7 times in 5 days!!!!! I was sooooo proud of myself and I hope that I cant keep it up. I am looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow morning to see how much I have lost. I did treat myself tonight with dessert so I hope that hasnt ruin it for me!! LOL

Well I better go and see if Avaleigh is asleep yet. Jason took her from me cause I couldnt settle her and she was making me frustrated. She's quiet now so fingers crossed shes asleep.

Oh and I have put on a HEAP of new photos of Avaleigh on her website - she's grown sooo much!

Squishee ~ Glad to hear your getting there with your packing. How is Lach and how are you going?

Relle ~ Its nice to know we have a doula amongst us. I never heard of them until my good friend had her little girl when I was 10 weeks pregnant myself. I met a student doula here on BB who works in newcastle, but unfortunatley it was a bit late to start and in the end I had an emerg. c/s and no labour whatsoever so wouldnt have been much good for her studies anyway!

Ngala ~ Wow at Avaleigh sitting up! Sounds like everything is going well getting organised for your wedding! How exciting! You might be able to find some nice lingerie and jewellery on ebay.

Star ~ I dont know how you could be without a pram, I'm pretty reliant on mine because we live so close to town and the foreshore that I walk everywhere.

Jas ~ Thats great Noah started rolling over!! What a clever little boy he is!

Becca~ I'm trying to ignore all the chatting about ice-creams too! How is your beautiful little man going?

Tracey ~ Love your pics, you have a very beautiful family and it looks like everyone had a great time. Love the pirate outfit!

Jem and Mel ~ Somehow I know we are not going to have an easy time with teething so not looking forward to it! Love your guys honesty about the frustrating moments I just remember "cuddle me mum" from an article here on BB.

On the home front ~ Lucas is getting used to tummy time. I’ve tried to get at least 10 minutes a day in. I roll up a nappy (I use 2) and pop it under his chest, with his arms up over, it's alot more comfortable for him. He tries to hold his head up and kicks his legs. I tried it the other day when he was really sooky and he feel asleep like that for 3 hours, then again for 3 hours+ the following afternoon it was so cute.

We had a home visit from the mchs this week. Because the clinic is so full the nurse came around to get things started. She was really happy with Lucas and he did everything she wanted him to do like poking his tongue out. I still cant get into the clinic until November and mothers group starts on the 13th.

We took Lucas fishing on the weekend! We love fishing and weren’t too sure how he’d go but figured there was only one way to find out and he was an absolute angel!

And I even caught 3 flathead and a nice bream to boot! We are definitely looking forward to going again and it has given me the confidence that we’d be alright taking him camping this summer too.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

    August xx

Hi girls...hope you're all well Have been busy lately so have mostly just had time to read and not post. Things here are progressing nicely - Alessia rolled for the first time (tummy to back) on Saturday! It was so cute and she did it again, and again and again! *hehe* We also had a wedding last night and she behaved so beautifully - I'm so proud of her! Anyways, she's asleep in my arms and will soon be due for a feed - has anyone else's bub dropped to 5 feeds a day?

Fran Zyon is demand fed & some days he will have 5 & the next 2 he'll have 10!?

Zy is too chubby to roll, he lays on his back & giggles like crazy though, with deep belly laughs & has tears from laughing so hard!!!

Oh that is gorgeous Tracey - I'm still waiting for Alessia to laugh properly! Ifeed on demand too - although it does take 1 hr for me to satisfy her - maybe that's why she may not feed as frequently? When she goes through a growth spurt she'll pick up just 1-2 more feeds.
