Amanda - what she said! Bath's points are well worth heeding, why didn't I think of this? I was distracted by ruthless teasing at school, too, and I never brought home magnificent marks for anything but spelling...and teachers steered clear of the teasing thing for parent-teacher things, just kept telling my parents that I had potential but wouldn't concentrate...well, that's hard when you're 10 and you're getting teased for things you can't help (my underarm hairs grew early, BIG thing when you're 10, and I also had wiry hair, was skinny and brown...perfect recipe for sticking out like a sore thumb!). Anyway, teachers are much more aware of kids' social interactions at school these days, so put yourself out there, get in contact with the teachers and they'll appreciate your extra interest (so many parents send kids to school and expect the school to 'fix' their kids by themselves).
Well, DP got a pager message for more crews...but as they didn't even mention a destination, DP is wary of committing himself to something for which no detail is immediately available! Plus, he will work tomorrow and get some money. If his work was regular he'd probably go, but he's doing cash jobs as they arise and work comes first. Mel - DH's clothes must stink of smoke! At least he got some action up there! CC - are those mozzie plugs those pest repellants? Aldi had some for $25, work on small bugs to mice. I know you can get some with stronger pulses for bigger animals like rats and possums, but they don't recommend those if you have cats and small dogs! You can use the ones with ultrasonic waves and then there's another type that I can't think of offhand, so they are safe for people, they just scare away unwanted visitors of the insect variety I know that I have been tempted to get a couple of these (they recommend more than one and depends on layout and size of house), as we get mozzies of varying sizes - tiny ones that get through the flyscreens in the bedrooms, and huge ones that are obviously coming in through the customised door that Odin created out of our screen door...
I've won some terry nappies so have to find an excuse to drive to North Warrandyte to collect them...have friends in Croydon, work friends in Ringwood, DP's cousins in Wattle Glen...could organise a visit and a detour for the nappies! They are extra absorbent and I'll take them to NZ and leave them for my sister after we've used them there. Need some more though, will get some coloured ones to leave with her.
Ok, off to do some things while the boy sleeps....like have a shower!
