what should i bring Rory? As much as id love to make something naughty im on my heath kick so wanna TRY and be good tomorrow, u tell me what u think we need im going shopping after lunch so can get whatever is needed.

I was given the babylove book for my baby shower and i have found it pretty good so far. i admit i do forget to get it out sometimes if i need to find an answer but generally ive found it helpfull to me.
Nickel- Id like to have 1 & 2 reasonably close together ie: within or around the 2year mark. We're gonna try next month but if it doesnt happen will prob wait a few months as i wanna avoid a Dec/Jan/Feb baby. So then the next try would produce a march baby which would be 23months appart. I remember being so hot early in the pg last time i dont know that i'd cope being all but due in a day like today!

our april buddies Biggest looser weigh in was thismornning, i lost 1.1kg but actually lost 2kg from when dh and i started 1.5weeks ago. anyway all i am loosing atm is weight i put on over xmas so got about 5-6kg to go.
went to the gym thismorning & put Nixon in Chreche 9sp?) he was alseep when i picked him up managed to get him in then back out of the car and he is still asleep now whoo hoo been 1.5hrs.
DH has gone to sydney for 4 days to look at houses

Glad you could get something out of Babylove, Nickers! I think Nickel meant that going by my parenting inclinations thus far, that the book may not be very useful to me...and if I am right about that, then Nickel is also correct :) I'm finding even the developmental stages aren't even relating very well to where Oscar is at in the books.
I've got a slow cook on and I hope it doesn't heat up the house too much.
I'm meeting my Mothers Group girls in the village in an hour, but I don't feel like going anywhere! I should, though. I dont' want to walk up in this heat and I'm loathe to take the car, but I will because today is not the day for expending more energy than I have to.
I just reorganised my pantry top shelf, too, so that I can see what cans of food I have and what jars of preserves are there. Found a couple of marmalades, so I don't need to buy any for a while. Actually, I had a sentimental moment or two when I found the marmalades that FIL made - he loved preserving! This time last year...well, the year turned out better than it started.
OK, gonna eat my yummy salmon sandwich and get to this boy to keep him occupied!

I've gotta head out to the animal shelter on the weekend, we've decided to relinquish Matisse. She keeps scratching the kids as they walk past... Anyone want a cat?? Very beautiful and cuddley... but my kids think its funny to pull her tail, and she doesnt like that...

Nickel - dinner was fantastic. I love a good night out without kids. I feasted on mushroom and truffle oil risotto, followed by tempura whiting fillets with a ginger and soy dressing, then pannacotta with spiced pears. Plus a lovely glass of champers, red and a coffee! We were home by 11pm and MIL coped well with the girls. I have a 3.5 year gap b/w my girls and I love it. Chelsea is very independant, so she can do her own thing and also help me with things. Its really not that bad. Don't know if I could give up my chockie either LOL!!

IK - most things I have read (internet/books etc) say you can introduce fish, chicken, beef etc after 6 mths. If they are going well on other veg, fruit etc you can make a casserole and puree it. I gave Marley some lamb shank the other night and she loved it (pureed of course). You can just add little bit to their vegies. Baby love is meant to read as a reference, so if you have a question, you look up what you want. Not to be read page after page (if that makes sense). I, like Nic, found it very helpful with Chelsea and still refer to some things with Marley. As with all books, some stuff I have never read up on. Her recipes etc are pretty good too, as I tried lots of them with Chelsea. Homemade rusk recipe is good. There are so many different books out, that maybe this one just isn't you, but I am sure you will find one that is more "you". Men always make a house messy (well mine does LOL!!!). ADDED: IK I think Oscar is more advanced than most kids in his developmental age group which is why it probably doesn't appear in many books - he is getting too clever LOL!!!

Simone - I have put my name down for the 18th Feb meet. Should be fun, at least I will know some people (you, rory, nic). I was reading in the paper about the mining jobs in WA and couldn't believe the $ they were paying. A plumber from Melb has gone over and is earning $150K! I would clean up after people for $80K! I don't wear a bra to bed anymore, but did for a while when I was BF. I go around in the morning without a bra, but its not so comfortable, my poor boobs are a little saggy now!

Rory - will bring the allergy info tomorrow. I might try to make something healthy too as it would be nice to eat relatively good (I love brownies, so will definately have on of Baths brownies LOL!!!). I thought maybe club sandwiches or a salad??

Bath - I love my cordless phone too! We have had one for years as I hate sitting down in one spot on the phone LOL!! My GF from Brisbane rings me once a week and we can be chatting for 2-3 hours, so I need to move around. Its not handsfree which bugs me a bit, but that might be my next buy. No cool breeze here yet, I turned air con on at 7.30am as the house was starting to get hot - outside is a little cooler but not a cloud to be seen.

Nic - well done on the weight loss, you should be proud of yourself. Glad Nixon enjoyed creche. You might motivate me to start doing more - I have been riding my exercise bike a few times a week (its a start) and sit ups but should really watch my food intake as I tend to eat lots of naughty things. I am going to try to make something low fat for lunch, so we can all be healthy. Hope DH has a successful trip house hunting for you.

Whats the recipe for the homemade rusks?? Anneliese hates the heinz ones, but wants something to chew one... I Introduced the boys to solids at about 6m, but they were on solids from 3m....

Ok. Verity has gone... Wade can finally watch Thomas The Tank Engine in peace... Niall is grisley... how I would LOVE to just lie down with him on the bed... but sure enough if I try that Wade will get jealous and jump all over us :( What to do? Maybe Wade will allow me to lie down with Niall on the loungeroom floor...

I can bring a low fat alternative snack too if everyone wants to be good :) Let me think about it for a while...

BAth, which thomas DVD do you have?? We have "Calling All Engines" where the Diesels and steamies have a big fight and then learnt to work together after a big storm to fix the Island of Sodor back up for the visitors... they boys love it, but i've had enough of watching it so many times...

Damn i knew i forgot something!! The cheese while i was at the shops.... will have to go back later... or make something healthier.....

Simone - the recipe says to cut up bread into 4 long pieces and either microwave on high for 1 minute and then leave to harden (doesn't take long) or put in the oven for 1 hour. The micowave way just takes the moisture out of the bread and leaving it just dries it out a little more! Easy.

Bath - hopefully you can just lay on the lounge floor with Wade too, make it like camping out!!! I love brownies - I would love to have one naughty indulgence for the day LOL!!!

Marley awake - BBL

Sim, we've just got Series 3 (Thomas) but only the first 3 and the last 2 (out of 26) episodes work because Wade removed the disc from the player when i wasn't looking and scratched it to buggery. DH and i had a big fight about it. He wants to buy more dvds to replace it but i put my foot down and said no way! i'm not flushing $ down the drain like that!!!! I can't watch Wade every second... he'll just keep scratching them". S now we download them off the net instead.

now wade's hungry... i've been offering food all bloody day!

Should we have some good some naughty stuff?? Im meant to be eating "healthier" to get rid of my pot belly, but would love to indulge a little with a nice glass of white :D

I'll bring both kinds of plates... but girls girls girls... you shouldn't refer to treat foods as 'naughty' guilt doesn't help! Get thee all a copy of French Women Don't Get Fat! LOL They never diet and always allow themselves a good quality piece of chocolate every day. It all starts with not feeling guilty. Eat healthy at home and indulge with friends. Still I respect the wishes of those who have other approaches. I'll bring some smoked oysters, lite Philly and mini toasts.... our friends always woof them down when i make them here... they at least aren't empty calories.... Verity and Wade love them too so at the very least they'll polish them off if nobody else wants them! LOL

Ok Ok Bath, stop twisting my arm, i've decided i will just bring a cheese platter. Rory, if i bring them all packaged up, have you got a platter i could use :) that way its easy to transport...

Bath i have no idea what time the train are, im thinking of getting a train into the city with DH in the morning and just walking around the city, adn maybe meeting you on the platform instead of running around in the morning trying t get to the train station...

I just did the funnest thing with Oscar - he was my wheelbarrow...he was walking on his hands as I held his ankles, with no complaints! He also likes being dropped suddenly from one height to another - hasn't cried yet when playing a bit 'rough'!
Books - I have read some Pinky Mackay and really like what I've read so far, but for reference I've got my text books. I refer to Dr Sears' website, mainly to confirm my own practices. It was bad enough with those damn pregnancy books differing so wildly and then just opting for certain authors in the end! I reckon I'm not doing too badly without the books :)
Hmmm, wonder what the books would say about your child playing on the dog's mat, possibly sucking on dog hair...better get back to him and get us into the village!
ETA: I'm inclined to bring some Turkish bread and dips - what do you think?

I've decided to go food shopping later this arvo, as then i can go pick DH up at the same time, then pickthe kids up after... get everything done at once.

Just thinking, what cheeses should i get?? I'm thinking Camembert, Brie, Edam... maybe one more?? something that is great with crackers...

Coles has a decent range of cheeses these days Sim... don't spend too much $ but anything by King Island is good... just buy what's on special... Castello is also a yummy option.


Got my cordless clipped onto my waistband... Wade's in the sandpit... Niall's asleep in the front part of the house... gonna go peg some clothes and play with Wade out the back... woohoo! No walking backwards and forwards checking for crying! :)

i love the king island camembert, that was my original idea, plus make something, but then i just thought about brining a cheese platter, will be easier to cart round!!

Alright, i think im going to head into airport west and do the shopping now (or sometime soon) i had a boost juice earlier, and im DYING for another!! its been taking over my thoughts for the last 20mins or so... ill see if i can get rid of the craving...

Simone - Aldi has a great range of cheeses! Some of those waxed ones, too. I'll be getting dips from there cos I love them. I'll get them on the way tomorrow. I'll drive or I'll be on trains all day and I couldn't stand the thought of that. Plus I've been good this week and walked into the village and not gone anywhere off the mountain :)
I was naughty and bought something at the second hand furniture shop! It was only $22 (after pointing out some damage) and it's a small carved table. It is one of those that sits on a fold out leg base thing (with a hinge) and the top slots onto the three bits of the base. It has some brass leaves inlaid into the top. The reason it caught my eye was that I have a miniature version of it that I keep a big candle on. The other reason is that we got rid of our coffee table ages ago and it leaves nowhere to put platters for guests, because the auto tray is a bit high to leave in the middle of the rug between the couch and the other chairs! At the moment the top has been glued to the base, but I think I can get it apart with a hairdryer. I need it to fold away so that we only have to bring it out when entertaining. I dont' think DP will get TOO mad at me!

Mel - I will try that DIY rusk business...Give this boy something to chew on that isn't my shoe or Odin's mat...
Oh, I missed my mothers group - apparently there was only one of them who waited for a bit and then left...5 mins before I got there!
Oscar's trying to go to sleep, but it's pretty warm inside. He'll be fine once asleep.

IK - I have one of the olive dips from Aldi, so I can bring that, its really yummy. I will make a salad then to go with Nics quiche and Rorys slice. The DIY rusks are good, but watch that they don't break off big pieces like Marley did this afternoon. I will be driving in too, much easier for me. Bummer about your mums group meeting, pity the girl didn't phone you to see how far away you were.

Finally turned air con off and opened up the house - its a bit cooler, but not much!

im only catching the train so i can have a glass or two of wine and not have to worry about driving, and also because DH is going to pick the boys up from daycare and pick me up later. So i can have a stress free day with friends :)

Rory, i though if i maybe bring the cheeses and stuff over today, then i wont need to drag them around all morning tomorrow, and i wont eat them tonight... let me know :) i might just call you... May have to come around after DH is home with the kids if thats ok?? Talk to you soon...

Mel: I was thinking of you today as I meant to tell you about an article in the newspaper here that talked about how new research shows that the bacteria in yogurts (acidofolus?sp?, bifidus and another one) improves eczema in babies and infants! Perhaps you could try some yougurt for Marley? My nathropath told me the best brand in the one in the brown tub called "Bornoffen" (sp?) you have to buy the "natural" one. Good luck...

Me: when I just got back and checked my mail and someone has stolen ALL my mail for the past month including DVD's from Quickflicks (which apparently now I'm liable for), some sexy Donna Karen nickers from my friend in the UK (for Xmas) and God knows what else? One of the downfalls from living in the Inner city I guess... Not happy about it though!

CC - what a complete bugger about the mail! I just take it for granted here that I can leave my car unlocked, house unlocked at night (only if dog inside when DP not home, and when DP's home, though!), deliveries at the front door, because the street is a bit unknown, even to long-term locals around here. I think I'd have a culture shock living in an inner city environment. Still, that's so crap about your stuff going missing - is nothing sacred?
I had my dad over for dinner tonight -he loved my slow-cook, and then I tried to burst his seams by making a killer fruit smoothie! I put pineapple, sugar melon, passionfruit and banana in the food processor, then put in my milk and icecream. I had two helpings, cos he was full! He must think I'm a tripper. Everytime he sees me and Oscar we are having fun (he jokes that I should be his sister, not his mother) and he probably thinks it's always like that...and he'd be right. I wish everyone could have as much fun with their babies as I do with mine, but I do know that for various reasons, it's not always a Luna Park ride for mummies and babies.
Oh, yeah, I've got the TTC smilies, too - go figure.
Well, I can actually see the dining table now - all tidy. The only untidy area now is the back room...and it's quite horrendous, so I'll leave it for Saturday. Every area I have cleaned and tidied is still tidy - my theory about DP being at fault is holding true...
Might watch a DVD now, but might have to watch the rest tomorrow if Oscar wakes, cos if he does I will be putting us both in bed!

Went shopping then took my cheeses over to rory's - got king island camembert, brie, edam and a lovely cheddar. Coles was the only place that had anything other than the cheddar!!

house is still clea (bar the thomas train set all over my lovely clean floor :D) when the kids arent home it stays perfect... wait til the weekend. Ill spent the whole time cleaning to keep it up to this standard!!

Well i wont e on tomorrow, as im going to cath the train intot he city with DH at 8am, and wander for a while. Easier than having to walk, get on a bus, then a tram, then a train... all with a pram and a cast!! ill be on my mobi though if anyone wants me :)

Nic - I am making a beautiful low carb, low fat salad I found on the internet. It was actually quite fun reading through them. Its a roasted sweet potato salad with spinach, chickpeas, pepitas (pumpkin seeds) and a yoghurt and coriander dressing. Never made it before but I roasted the sweet pot in some sweet chilli sauce and it smells good! So looking forward to meeting you and Nixon tomorrow. I have checked the melways and have written down my route. Looks pretty straight forward (I hope LOL!!!)

CC - thanks so much for the tip about the yoghurt. I think I know which one it is, Bornhoffen (like the bread), I will be going to get some tomorrow and she better like it! What paper was it in, I might be able to google it? Hopefully it will work. Her legs have been pretty red today even with the cortisone. How horrible having mail stolen, esp the nice Donna Karan undies.

IK - must have been the day for smoothies! I bought some beautiful blackberries for only $2.99 a punnet so made a smoothie this morning with yoghurt, honey and blackberries. Chelsea had 2 glasses and thought it was pretty cool as it was bright purple!!! It so nice to hear you having so much fun with Oscar. I remember those days well when I had Chelsea. We did so much together - poor Marley gets a bit ripped off with quality mum time. It will be better once Chelsea goes back to kinder, more one on one time and she is getting so funny with her faces and what she does. Enjoy every minute of it. Enjoy your DVD if you get to watch it.

Bath - I love what you said about the "guilt" thing. I very rarely feel guilty eating my goodies, its after LOL!! So I thought of your saying while I had my little Lindt Hazelnut Praline chocolate with my coffee and enjoyed every bite of it!!!

Poor Anneiese never got any time alone with me, which is why the boys have an extra day in daycare, and me and allie spend the day together... :) She'll be coming with me tomorrow, but the boys will be going to daycare (unless declan still has this temp - its nothing contagious, he's just teething again, normal for him, but thats not acceptable for daycare, even though they had a kid with gastro be allowed to stay last week!! Well, not after i put a complaint in!!) So it may be declan adn allie with me tomorrow. Ills e how i go.

Yep got my directions out too, looked up whereis but also got the melway and doubled up. according to whereis it is about 20min trip so may be there b4 1, anyway you'll all be there by then.

Hi girls just wanted to let you know that I got into uni, Yaaaayyy!, For those who either don't know or don't remember I applied to do my Grad Dip Education (Early Years) Next year I can complete the Bachelor while inservice. If I get a job, lol. My day care bill is about to sky rocket. ($750 a week, we get 16% rebate, basic level.) Oh well it's this years sacrafice for a life changing career. I really didn't think I'd get in since it is so competative. I can't wait to finish, I know I haven't started yet, but I just kept thinking about the rewards Teaching will give me and my family. I loved Nursing but with five kids and a hubby who does shift work it just doesn't work. I will always have my nursing and I can go back to it later if I want to. Ohhhh my goodness what a busy year ahead.
Oh and btw have fun at Rory's girls,

IK - That is so sweet, I agree, I wish everyone had the luxuary of spending quality time with their child, we are super lucky that we have healthy babies and can stay and play wiht them....

Mel - that sounds so yummy - my sister does a similar one with roasted sweet potato baked with cumin, then just tosses it with fetta cheese, cherry tomatoes and torn basil - it is always such a hit!

ME: Just came back from Ally 6 month shots, she is fine, a little underweight - so I'm going to up her food intake - she still has BM every two hours (and twice at night) and dinner. so i am going to now include lunch too... at night she has 4 tablespoons of pumkin and wants more - I think she is hungry... poor little tyke. She also drinks half a cup of water a day... hope she has not been thirsty too? Oh well, she looks OK...
