Ali - glad to hear Tori had a fun birthday. Good luck with the move and hope you get your internet on quickly!

Bath - how nice having the ducted heating under the computer desk! Nice way to warm the feet.

Tali - I have taken Chelsea to a Bunnings activity before and she loved it. They made masks. There was only 3 kids and DH and I got to sit and have a coffee right next door to where they were doing it. The usually advertise in the catalogues as to what activities are on. I can't believe its free!

7th - well done on your girls getting such good reports. I would have been the "mean mummy" too if my kids where playing in a building site, its not really a place for kids to be playing and a bit dangerous too. Gotta love the spare coins! DH has a big jar that he puts all his gold coins in, we often get over $100 out of it which comes in very handy.

IK - sounds like a fun day at the park. The weather was weird today, sunny for most of the morning, then dark and horrid! You need one of those stretchy cords on the back of Oscars pants to pull him back LOL!

Marley took 2 steps by herself today She was so very proud of herself afterwards, she fell down then sat up and clapped and giggled. Hopefully she will start to get a bit more confident now. We had lamb cutlets for dinner tonight and I gave her one of the bones with some meat on it and she devoured it! She ended up having 3 of them and virtually sucked them dry! Luckily they were the frenched cutlets, with nearly all the fat removed from the bones. She has never been a big meat eater but these were a big hit!

    Hi Girls,
My back is heaps better today, yayyy!!! Only a bit of a twinge.
Well we have sunshine today so I'm catching up on the laundry (yay for me).
I'm going to a meet up with the Gold Coast girls tomorrow, since it school holidays here we will all be bringing our kids, lol. It is at one of the girls places who literally only lives around the corner and up the road. Should be great fun, Annie has said yay your big ones can keep the young ones in check, lol. We will be severely out numbered by children. I'm making yummy mini quiches, always a hit cold and hot. Thought I'd make a slice to take as well since I'm bringing my whole tribe.
Well okay just posting to get notification.
    Bye
    Dee

    Hi All,

Yay Marley! what a clever girl. That would have been so cute Mel! Nixon took his first steps one month ago now (u prob remember me very excited over it!) but he hasn't taken any more steps since then. He is so stable on his feet standing by himself and i try to encourage him walking to me he thinks about it, then drops to his knees and crawls over LOL!

Ali- good luck with the move i hope it goes smoothly. Dont over do (easier said then done i know) but no heavy lifting remember! Glad Tori's birthday went well.

Donna- back to the last thread u asked about what foods to prep or Lachlan. I have had similar thoughts to you of late. I do try and keep left overs from our dinner because he too eats earlier then what we do. So if we have spag bol, stiry fry, quiche, risotto, any of that sort of stuff, i freeze portions of it for his dinner. I have found with the meatier foods like spag bol he doesnt like the texture as much so i have still been making up batches of vegies (like potato, pumkin, pees, corn) in ice cube trays and i might grab 2 cubes to go with his meal.
ive ran out now but was still doing up mashed fruits for some lunches but begining to think he is past this now. He quiet often has a sandwhich for lunch (vegimite, peanut butter, cream cheese etc) or a youghurt and a banana. But if anyone else has other good lunch time meals cause sometimes u think it gets a bit repetitive.

Mel Yay for Marley, ohh how gorgeous. Not long now. sniff sniff.
Donna, I'm with Nic, My babies just have what we are having I add extra every couple of dinners to freeze for nathan for when we have Taco's, a hot satay. Plus Nathan often eats as I'm cooking dinner, I have the luxury of older children, lol. They will feed him something from the freezer while I cook. I try to keep mashed potato, pumpkin and sweet potato in the freezer although I use the little zip lock bags, my boy is a guts and would not be satisfied with a few cubes of veges. I will also put cooked beef and chicken in pieces and freeze them, Although he is now having chucky veges and strips of meat to gnaw and suck on. He loves my spag bog, I use penne and large spirals pasta. He loves nothing more than a slice of fruit to suck on and chew. He also has yogurt, home made custard, and sandwiches, avacado, vegemite, peanut butter, egg, cream chesse. At this age variety is important, it's all about experimenting with food and can get messy. Sad to say they are on their way to feeding themselves, food should be chunky now not always smooth so you could mash his taters and mix in but not mash the other veges, carots, broccoli, cauliflower, peas and corn. Bite size is the key.
I am yet to give Nathan a honey sandwich, think I'll do that tomorrow.

Thanks guys for the food ideas, i just dont want to get stuck doing the 'cooking two meals' thing every night, im thinking that i might try to stretch lachlans dinner a bit later and bring ours forward and try to meet up so we can have dinner together.

Nickers & 7th - did you have any probs giving the boys peanut butter? I really want to try Lachlan but im worried that he might have an allergy, we often go over to other peoples houses where their kids are eating peanut butter sandwiches and im worried that he will grab some. Also with the honey, i was told not to give any until 2 years because of the bacteria in it.

Mel - Yay for marley taking two steps by herself, thats great!!

Ali - Good luck with the move, i hope it goes well and you are all unpacked and settled really quickly

whoo hoo i like your new ticker Donna!
um with the peanut butter thing i suppose eveyone is different. wuold u beleive i actually "forgot" about the risks and just thought i would give it to him one day... luckily no reaction. a mum of more kids may have more advise about how to first try it. But i think if you particularly had a child with allergies for instance you would def hold back on these sorts of things.
Honey, i havent tried Nix on honey but also was unsure about the "sweetness" factor? is there too much sugar in it? i didnt know about the bacteria thing....

7th - great news that your back is better. Have fun at your meet up. Quiche and slice sound good!

Nic - they are such lazy buggers aren't they? Marley does the same thing, will stand up on her own for ages then just drop to the floor! I sure she knows its quicker LOL!

Dee - sorry, I forgot to respond to you about the dinner thing! We usually eat early most nights (b/w 5.30-6pm) and I usually give Marley her dinner about 5ish, then when we sit down, I pull her highchair over to the table and give her either a sandwich, some steamed fruit bits (apple or pear), cut up tinned fruit, banana, sultanas, ice cream wafers are a real treat. It just keeps her occupied while we eat and still means she is eating with us. I try to give her what we eat but with her allergies, I usually have to modify it a bit. I still give her extra vegies but I don't mash them anymore, just give them to her in chunks but soft enough that she can eat them IYKWIM? Cooking 2 sep meals gets to be too much work lol! We have always given Chelsea what we were having and she is a great eater, so hopefully we can continue with Marley.

Ali – Good luck with your move this weekend. Glad Tori ahd a great birthday and time at AQWA – I must take our two there soon. Looking forward to seeing you Friday.

7th – you must be so proud of your girls reports – they sound excellent. Glad your back is a bit better. Have a great time at your Gold Coast bash tomorrow.

Mel – yay on Marley taking her first steps – that’s great. Lol at images in my head of Marley eating lamb cutlets – a bit cave-bubba- like!

Dee – new ticker is great! I gave Will his first peanut butter sandwich today and he was fine. We don’t have any history of food allergies in either of our families so I just went for it – yay that’s one more variation for his lunch time sandwiches – glad you asked about the food thing as I’m getting new ideas too. Evening aren’t too bad for us as we all eat together so we all eat the same but lunchtime I seem to give them the same 4 or 5 versions of sarnies – they must be bored silly by now!

Hi to Rory, Nic, IK, Tali, Bath and everyone else.

I am soooo tired. I have been woken up every few hours for the last 3 nights running and as DH is away have had to get up between 6 and 6.30 when the kids do so I am just yawning constantly. Will watch the last House tonight then off to bed – hope Will has a better night tonight but it’s not all him – I’m such a light sleeper since ive had kids that a noisy truck just has to go down the road that ours leads onto and it seems to wake me up – not that many do in the night as it’s only an estate road. Kids have been good this week so far. On Tuesday had walking group then a work mate of DH had a 2nd birthday party for his boy which was nice, then today we met a lady from walking group and her 2 sprogs at Kings Park so they could all have a play, then went shopping this arvo for a little something for mum2bee as I’m hopefully going to see her Friday if she’s still in hossy. Tomorrow is story time at the library then in the arvo we have a dietician appointment for Will at the local hospital to get some advice about his dairy intolerance thing and what to give him instead – although he seems to like and have no reaction to the soy milk ive started giving him after his lunchtime sleep so I don’t know if it’s a waste of their time or not. Friday is playgroup, then Tori’s and Lucas’ morning tea then visit Mum2bee in the afternoon! Definitely having a quiet week next week!

MMMM – received a bill from the builders this morning for the slab (of the house we’re building) – last email I had off them said they would let us know in advance when it going down as they had told us they were doing the site works last week but the slab would be a further 2 to 3 weeks after – apparently it went down last Thursday and nobody bothered telling us. I wouldn’t really mind except that I have been slack about returning the signed loan agreement back to the bank as I keep forgetting to get DH to sign it when he’s here – now it’s going to be a rush before they can pay the builders. The builders then went on to say they are not sure if any of our 3 choices of brick will be available – I mean, WT? How many more choices did they want us to make????grrr

Anyway, ill be off now with my whinging and moaning (and yawning hehe) – hope you are all ok.

Donna, Honey can be safely given from 12 months. Peanut butter, we don't have any allergies in our family, I really haven't worried about an allergy when I gave the kids any of the foods except shell fish and peanuts. I just give a trace of peanut butter, like a lick and watch for any symptoms. Of course if your concerned hold off giving it to him.
Nickers Honey contains a bacteria called botulin which causes botulism. Very nasty bug.
Julie, lol I do the same thing when DH is home, give a reminder get a Oh okay, and then we get distracted and remember when he's gone again.

    Thumbs down

Well my dryer is broken!! I put a load in it last night of the clothes we are wearing today and it didn't dry, it just stopped, In my most excellent mechanical knowledge, it isn't the power as it makes a noise but it won't rotate so I think it's the fan belt. Hopefully not a problem, I put the clothes on the line, hopeful that they will dry in time to go. Grrrrrr why didn't I get up earlier.

Missed the new thread... and now Wade's hungry.... French Music was great this morning... now lunch... Niall has had peanut butter, honey, shellfish... pretty much everything we eat... i never make seperate meals and the kids basically snack all afternoon on healthy things like dried fruit, freesh fruit, cheese, julienne carrot sticks etc... and have a token "proper meal" whenever DH gets home which could be as late as 9pm some nights. Not ideal but it works for us. Wade often asks to go to bed earlier and because he has snacked all afternoon I can be guided by him instead of risking him hitting the brick wall and ending up a screaming mess. Speaking of which I've promised him a toasted sandwich... back in a tic...

Mel: replied to your email yesterday but a copy wasn't in my "sent" items so I re-sent it just a few minutes ago... let me know if you receive it in here, ta ... you know how tempremental my system is!

Julie - love the "cave-bubba" expression, might have to use that one! How did you go with Will at the dietician? I am going back to see Marley's paed in 2 weeks to retest her allergies. Not sure what he will do if she is still allergic to cows milk protein, maybe he'll start her on soy milk? How frustrating about your brick choices, you'd think out of 3, they would at least have 1 of them available. Hope you managed to get a better nights sleep last night.

7th - bugger about the dryer, hope you get it fixed. Living in Melb, I could not live without mine!

Bath - got both emails! I sent one back to you yesterday, not sure if you got it?

Well this is my last day of being home with just Marley. I go back to work on Tuesday. I am looking forward to going back but watching Marley in her highchair at lunchtime, snorting and making funny faces at me, I realised that today was the last day it would be just her and I (Chelsea at kinder today). I love my 2 days with just the two of us. I know she is going to have a great time with her nana, who is looking after her those 2 days. Enough of the melancholy - off to start making my vegie curry!

Bath my kids love toasted sandwiches.
Yummo Mel, mmmmmm I love curry! I went to make apricot chicken last night, so cooked the chicken pieces, put the rice on, browned the onions and then realised after I opened the sachet that I didn't have any apricot nectar. I just stood there looking at thechicken pieces racking my brain as to what we could have then decided to through a stew together. I ended up making the yummest chicken casarol I've had in ages. The kids loved it, nathan had two bowls and then slept all night:eek:. I put three serves away in the freezer for Nate. Brianna is cooking dinner tonight, she won't tell me what she is cooking but said "trust me mum it'll be the best dinner ever" After last night's effort I think not, lol, Nahhh she is a terrific cook.
So funny The kids have watch Kindergarten cop a few time over the holidays and yesterday Bree was fliping through the channels and Makayla asked her to go back, Oh coool she reckons, Mum mum Arnie has a new movie, I'm shocked "What really" here look, lol. He was making a Senators speech, I had to explain that he wasn't an actor anymore that he is now a Senator in the American Gov't. They were soooo disapointed. Poor babies.

Well I've been lurking for the last few days, been feeling a little low so thought it best to just read and keep up that way. Well after the arguement with DH on the phone last Sat, we both apologised once he got home so was all good by Sunday. I sort of had an epiphoney (sp), I think that I push DH away and try and make him leave, I don't know if this is because my parents are divorced and my father didn't really take to much interest in my brother or I. But in saying that I have a wonderful step dad, who I see as more of a dad and person to look up to then my own father. So I've been thinking that I may just have something deep in my brain that thinks that my father abondoned me so why wouldn't DH. Ok enough rambling.

Tali I spoke to my mum and these are places that she says are nice to live, Burrum Heads, Eli Waters, Scarness and Pialba. Riverheads were she lives is very bad for midges. She also suggested that you look on the internet at the real estates. So my advice would be when asked the real estate agents questions ask how bad the midges are in that particular area? Hope this helps.

Dee glad the meet up went well, did your clothes dry? How's the wind been lately, unreal isn't it.

Melbourne girls have a great meet up today can't wait for some more piccy's.

Ok got to go for now have to start the slow cooker up, having apricot chicken tonight.

    hugs xoxo
