hi everyone
sorry I've been MIA for a while but this week has been CRAZY
I went back to work on Wednesday - it was OK until Thursday rolled around and DS had his first day in child care (mum has him on wednesdays). We'd organised for DH to start work later on Thurs/Fri so he can drop Jackson at day care otherwise he's be there at 7:30am if I had to drop him off - well Jackson was a bit cranky Thurs morning cos I think he has his 2nd tooth coming through and decided to give DH the morning from hell - wouldn't eat his breakfast - took nearly 3/4 of an hour to give him his EBM and then he wouldn't sleep arrgghhh - so DH took him up to child care (5 min walk from our house) and they went to change DS nappy and he screamed his head off
anyway thankfully my mum went and spent an hour at the child care and he did eventually go to sleep and eat something so I felt a bit better by the end of the day - Friday was a lot calmer - DS had more of a morning sleep before going to child care - the weird thing is he is still screaming his head off every nappy change now which he never does at home but we do change him on the floor not a change table

its nice to read that everyone's babies are starting to move - Jackson is commando crawling and doing a caterpillar type crawl where he gets up on his hands and knees and then propels himself forward back onto his tummy - its very cute

sorry about the vent everyone - just needed to get it out of my system - it was so hard to leave him to go to work and then have my DH calling me very STRESSED out and not being able to be there to help

You poor thing, I totally understand how you must have felt. You just want to be there for them when they are upset like that. Fingers crossed he will be fine this week and get used to it. Before you know it he will love going there :)

Kenzie and I are going through a bit of a rough patch in the sleep department. She just won't sleep unless she is snuggled up against me! Everyone is telling me "I have made a rod for my own back", because we have co-slept since birth .. but now she wont have any sleep during the day unless I sleep too! So I am trying hard to make the transition to the cot, her nursery is set up beautifully and I have the soft music playing. However as soon as we go in the room and I bend over to put her in the cot she SCREAMS ... untill I pick her up again. I think its time for some tough love. I might read her stories in the cot and try to do some fun things in there to make it seem less stressful ?? I'm not sure what to do!

Other than the sleep issue Mackenzie is growing fast and changing on a daily basis. I'm feeling a bit guilty that I havent taken as many photos and video as I would have liked.

I am buying the heinz food jars for food ( I promised myself only fresh for my baby ) but when your moving states .. I just kinda did what was convienient so I am going to have to get my butt in gear and get a whizz stick to puree my own food.

This year I have made a promise to myself ... I am going to lose 40 kilos because I am getting married at the end of the year (finally) and there is no way I want to be a fat bride. SO! This year I am not working, not studying .. just focusing on diet .. exercise and looking after my family. I really feel like I'm, failing at being a SAHM, its all I have wanted to do for 10 years and my house is just a pig mess.. I just can't seem to get it together I think its time for ebay and I to get reaquainted and have a huge declutter.

Oh and I got AF back yesterday .. Ugh!!

Mel :: Hi Mel! I used to work in child care for 12 years so maybe I can help you a little bit! Have you spent anytime with Jackson at the day care? That can often help settle new little babies if you just stay and 'play'. The change table issue is quite stressful, perhaps give jackson a little toy from home he can hold while on the change mat? Something he is familiar with (try to make it something plastic that can be dininfected like a plastic book or something?) This can often distract children from the nappy procedure - expecially kids with bad nappy rash. Its often so stressful for mums to put their children into child care so young, as he gets older and has 'friends' at day care it get easier. *hugs*

Celsie :: I honestly woundlt worry about Caeleb not crawling yet, I worked in a nursery before having Kenzie and some of the kids didnt crawl untill 9-10 months. All kids are soo different. If hes not moving about by 15 months then be concerned :) Enjoy him being a baby because they are all growing up so quickly! Kenzie does kisses too! Too cute huh!

Charlyfrog :: I wish putting Kenzie back to sleep was as easy as a snuggle, she demand the breast and snuggles in our bed. I can't get her into her own cot.. I need some advice you seem to have the sleep thing down pat! What is your bedtime routine?

Starfish :: Isnt it funny, with the crawling Kenzie will have a million of her toys on the floor and she will only want the tv remote or the dvd case on the floor! Yay for the day sleep!!

Teepee2 :: I know how you feel when Mikayla fell over. Kenzie has crawled off the bed twice now and the first time I was on the phone to the health line and crying, I posted on BB and got some reassurance. Its just the most awefull feeling isnt it. *hugs* Are to TTC #2 ?

Hi ladies,
Its been a while since i have been on as i have been obsessed with planning our wedding :dance:...So far we have booked our reception/ceremony venue..actually it was booked November 2007!!! We have booked a wonderful photographer put a deposit down on our dream wedding car..we have booked a 2007 Chrysler 300c Super Stretch Limo its silver with black leather interior and it seats 12 including the driver!! I am having a rather large bridal party 4 groomsmen & bridesmaids and we also have 2 junior bridesmaids, 2 flowergirls & 2 page boys and us so officially it will be 16!!! :doh: And i have also just bought my bridesmaid bouquets at a bargain price..$100 for 4 silk bouquets because they were used as hire flowers!!! I am so excited..as you could probably tell :cryinglaugh:
Im glad to hear i am not the only person who needs to lose the kgs before their wedding...i found "the" dress online went and looked instore and OMG it is tiny..straight down very fitted!!! Gorgeous dress i want it so bad so looks like a diet and exercise are in my not so distant future lol

As for my baby girl she is finally on the move, commandoing around eating everything in sight!!
She is still not sleeping very well through the day i stopped rocking her to sleep but she is getting better at settling herself and its not a huge production as it was when we began :dance:

She is getting quite an attitude though :doh: little witch:D..she will arch her back and squeal and thrash around when she wants something and cant get it ie remote control, her big brothers hair :lol:
It isnt all the time thank goodness, maybe 10% of the day the other 90% she is such a sweetheart..
Are any of your bubs really into tv?? She is really into it these days..especially the shows Rylan watches like Thomas, Dora the explorer & Ollie off Nick JR she will be mesmerised by them she will not move just sit and stare till its finished lol and she will actually look and move around me if i sit down infront of her to feed her while she is watching her shows!!!:cryinglaugh:
Im sorry i havnt put any personal replies im lucky to get a chance to put anything in these days!! Especially now im working till 12am and not actually getting home till 1am...sleep is very precious right now lol

Hi all!! This is going to probably sound so pathetic and one might consider me a wus but omg!! This toilet training thing is full on! :redface: And DH whilst a shift worker is no help as he is flat chat with our own business when he is at home so its just me, toilet training DD and then booby/solids fed DD...........:asleep: ROFL!!

We are having huuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggeeeeeee success atm, although we only started quite spontaneously yesterday lunch time (the thought of one more nappy tipped it for me ;)) and so nappies are only being used for overnight now and DD is really surprising me as we even had poos in the potty with no prompting from me! :dance: Poor little DD#2 though has had to cry it out on her playmat whilst in the middle of a feed as DD#1 has decided to be brilliant and use the potty but of course, with no extra pair of hands, mummy has to deal..............on another bright note, DD#2 was worrying me with not seeming interested in her solids at all and now!! Woohoo!! Is eating like a trooper!! So I've managed to get one child to eat and the other to poo!! :cryinglaugh:

Jen - its really been a game of persistence on my part but DD#2 still tries it on during the day here and there, cheeky rabbit! I decided that I would determine when the nap started and when it ended and if she chooses to cry/complain her way through the whole nap time, well at least I know that there's a higher probability of her sleeping for the following nap session ;) If I know that all the checks have been done (ie nappy clean, DD temps comfy, no wind etc) I will leave her unless her cry/complaint changes to more than just complaining, which generally happens only if the little sausage gets her legs stuck in between the bars (oh and the gro bag doesn't stop that either :rolleyes:) Retraining is possible (and this is just what we did with our DD so its what you are happy to do and are comfy with) but be prepared for your little one to not be happy about it for the best part, even all of an hour and then some to begin with. You decide when and where you want her to nap and pop her down for the duration that you think she should be down for, then go in and get her up when that time is over. You could go in every 10/15mins to reassure her that you haven't gone anywhere but then don't be tempted to do more than all the checks, a quick snuggle and then straight back down............could take a couple of weeks but it'll be worth it if you are comfortable doing it this way. What I still do with DD is if I have to go in, I'm very quiet and don't have much of a conversation with her and do what is needed quietly and quickly. Then in direct contrast, when it is time to get up (even if she hasn't been to sleep which can still happen of late :p) I am all excited and chatty and noisy so she understands the difference between 'still sleep time' and 'time to get up - yay!' LOL!!

Hi everyone

Boy you ladies are chatty! :) I have had a bit of an up and down day. On the down side, I nearly decided to stop breastfeeding this morning! :cry: Diana has kind of been biting recently and this morning at about 5:30am, she bit me hard first on one nipple, then, when I took it away, on the other. I nearly lost it. I have been feeling pretty down the last few days (I think that pnd is returning - I am looking at getting counselling as I have been feeling really, really low), and felt that the only positive thing I had left, the only thing that I was still doing right, was breastfeeding, and now I was failing at this too. :cry: Fortunately I got through to the ABA helpline and the counsellor was fantastic and helped a lot. So I am still breastfeeding. Yay.

On the up side, Diana did her first 'big girl poo' (i.e. solid - TMI, I know :redface:) in the potty today. :dance: I am so proud of her.

Starfish :: You are not alone with the biting breast issue, today Kenzie bit me 3 times on the same side. I can't help but let out a huge AHHH when she does it and it scares her .. but it hurts so much :( I thought of expressing for a little while to give my poor nipple a break. You are a fantastic mummy to Diana and are doing such a great job.... well done to Diana for poos in the potty!!:hug: :grouphug:

Charleyfrog :: Thanks heaps for the sleeping advice .. I think we are getting there s l o w l y. Last night I put her in her cot and she SCREAMED like the neighbours must have thought I was hurting her :( I got some books and she stopped right away and smiled (she lurrrves books) So I read her about 6 books then started singing songs. After the second song I turned out the light while still singing. Then I patted her belly and she went off to sleep .. I thought YEAH! I did it... So I caught up with some house work and about 30 mins later she started crying. This was about 11pm. Then she cried and I went in and repatted her off to sleep .. then she woke up every 5 minutes untill 230am. I had had enough gave in and took her to my bed where her and I slpet solid till 8am ..:wall: Tonight ... I put her in her cot and she screamed 10 times louder than last night .. like tantee cry she was going all stiff and kicking profusly. This went on for about 30 mins while I was trying to pat her. I picked her up she stopped and smiled. I gave her the breast and she fed herself to sleep and I put her in the cot .. she stayed asleep. 5 minutes later she was screamming again. I picked her up and rocked her back off to sleep and put her in the cot.. 5 minutes later she woke up .. this time I patted her off to sleep and she is still asleep now 20 minutes later.... wish me luck tonigt!!!! Can you think of anything I'm doing wrong?? I feel responsible for her going through this because she is s unbelieveabler close to me wand wants to be with me 24/7. I might post what I have written here in the sleeping section adn see if anyone else has any ideas to make it easier.

Awwww! She just loooooooooooveeeees her mummy so much!!! Imo, and imo only ;) I think it is a retraining season for you and her. You're just ready sooner than her to make that transition to her self settling ;) Its a patience and perseverance game on your part :hug: But as long as you've checked everything else, ie nappy, wind, temp, teething etc, then its now down to you being strong for her and teaching her a new way of falling asleep. The classic moment was her smiling at you when you picked her up! Aren't our babies just so funny and smart!!!!! Hehe!! :p Just a thought, rather than attending to her straight away when she wakes and cries after 5mins, maybe pop your head in to make sure she isn't stuck etc and then go out (no patting - can you look in on her without her seeing you??) and leave her for 10mins or so. I have learnt that the cry can sound so horrible sometimes but it is only them letting off some steam! ;) Then go in and keep checking like that but only staying for max 1 min to check and reposition her if necessary and then leave...........importantly, only do what you are comfy doing. This has worked for us, not always ;), but thats just what we do.

My thoughts of feeding her to get her to sleep is kind of a catch 22.....she will nod off because it is so relaxing and comfy against mummy but then there is that risk of her getting trapped wind which in turn will keep her, and you, awake.

I hope you get some much needed help from posting in the sleeping section and like I said, these are just my thoughts :) and btw, don't look at it as though you're doing wrong love! Know that you are a fab mummy who loves her little girl so much and just wants her to be happy all the time! Like I said, just a new season for you both :hug: Thinking of you! xx

Not much to report this end, Lewis is doing well, not crawling yet, just rocking away! He was awake at 4.30am this morning the little imp:doh:. He must have know I had to be at work at 9am!

Hey I lost a kilo on my diet this week and only have 2 more to go now. It's a great diet, if anyone wants it, its called the hunger buster diet and you can google it.

Charly - I thought you'd understand the excitement a poo in the potty generates. We had another one today. Woo hoo. :dance: How is your DD going?

Jen - sorry to hear that you're still having sleeping issues. :hug: Unfortunately I have no advice, as I did exactly the same as you with Diana and after a few months she started settling herself. How far away is Kenzie's cot from your bed? Diana's cot is next to our bed and we have taken one side out so that she can roll onto the bed if she wants to.

Sorry, i have not been around. Aiden is really taking my time, which is good. He is getting really active, and i love spending time with him more now.
A quick update - He is about 10.5kg, and i think about 78cm. He is not crawlinng, can wiggle back wards & side to side thou. Doesnt really roll around much, just tum, to back. Walks with support. Prefers walking to most things really. Is not sitting on his own. He has loads of tummy time, but, doesnt seem to help much with the crawling. Still waking thru the night, at least once, sometimes twice a night for a feed. Day sleeps - AM, about 90min i guess. And, again in the arvo. Oh, and 2 bottom teeth. Came thru on the 04th & the 06th of Jan.
Me - we are actively ttc#2. Currently in TTW. I so wish you could get test 14days before af arrived. I hate the suspense.
And, in a nutshell, thats about us...
I keep forgetting to subscribe to new thread to keep up, so, will have a quickie read over the last few pages and post again soon.

Starfish - DD is really rocking on!! :dance: I had to go out for the morning so I had DD#2 and DH was at home with DD#1. While he was vacuuming he heard a couple of times, "Daddy!!" and when he came out he'd find DD on the potty and a wee in it!! :clap: Only one incident today though (thank goodness I was out :lol:) as it was a poo incident in the pants.........ewwwwwwww!!! DH is so amazing!! I would've dry reached my way through it but he just dealt and moved on! Ooh! Love him!! :p I just think its amazing that your on the tt journey with such a young one!! You're truly amazing!! Well done!! :clap:

Sorry girls, have been a bit busy so I can't do personals! But Debbie - great to hear from you and Aiden sounds like he's doing really well (how are you going?). Fingers crossed for you too.

Angus is zooming along, he has been able to commando crawl since Christmas and is now high speed at this. He can get onto hands and knees too, and rock around. He also gets on hands and feet with the bum in the air and steps with the feet - very funny! He loves to stand with support, and in the last week has been able to sit and play unsupported - what a legend! I think he is finally starting to chub up too, yay!! We've been trying to start solids but he really isn't that interested. The rice cereal makes him dry retch (yep, every time) regardless of whether I mix in banana or mango too. He's tasted a few things like banana, pineapple, apple, mango in his little mesh thingy, and at a little banana from the spoon yesterday too. But really not interested at all. Oh well.

We had a major nappy failure the other day, I'd only put on the nappy less than an hour before (in the morning) and popped in in the cot for a little play, but when I came back, poop everywhere!!! I was very annoyed! Anyway, I emailed the nappy company as I didn't think this should happen with a new nappy, and they have offered me a free replacement packet! Yay for them!!!! Isn't that great?

On another note, my husband came home from cricket training tonight having injured himself, looks like he has broken his foot, and he is on crutches. He's going to have a bad day tomorrow, all his patients are going to give him a serve about him being the injured one. And he has to endure that for 10 hrs!!! Not to mention the pain, and worrying about whether it is broken or not (he is getting an xray tomorrow).

Anyway, must go now, time for the dreamfeed and bed I think. Take care all!

How did you go with the sleeping Jen? Last night was one of the few nights when Diana slept through. Unfortunately, I had a case of insomnia and stayed up half the night reading. :wall: Oh well, I guess its the only time I get to do it...

We need some good news atm, today i am off to get one of my dogs put down. She has been battling cancer quite successfully for last 3months, but, just in the last 2 weeks, she has really started to go down hill. So, before she gets to much worse, i am off to the vets with her today. She will be 9 in April. I guess 3 months was better then the original 2 weeks we where initally given.

Fi - sorry to hear about your DH. I hope it turns out not to be broken! How funny - his patients giving him a serve! Angus sounds like he is doing well. I cant wait for Aiden to be able to sit on his own. He gets so bored now laying down.


Last night, i tried to get Aiden to sleep thru, and resettle without a bottle. He had his dinner at about 6, a bottle at 7.30, and another bottle at 9. He woke again at 11, and i decided NO - you have had enough, so, i just kept resettling him all night. I couldnt sleep anyway, so i figured why not. I ended up giving him a bottle at 3am, which he drank like 10ml, then went back to sleep till about 4.45, when he had another 100or so ml. Then, asleep again till about 6.30, where he grizzled abit for about 5min, and went back to sleep till 8, which is his get up time. I really want him to stop needing a bottle to resettle during the night. If i end up being preg, I am going to need my sleep! So, time for some tuff love.

Hi Girls,

Feathertop - Good old Angus, commando crawling! Lewis is at the rocking stage and like debbie i can't wait for him to crawl as he too gets bored and really frustrated. I wonder why Angus is not into solids yet, I suppose they are all different, he must love his milk instead! I have one of those mesh things but I find it just turns to juice and gets so messy, I think I will try apple tomorrow.

Debbie - Sorry to hear about your dog :cry:
It seems Aiden doesn't want milk then when he wakes if he is only having 100 ml or so. That's good a good sign though because if you are training him to go back to sleep again, hopefully it will only take a few nights and he will sleep through. I stopped dreamfeeding Lewis when he started solids and he didn't notice! Weird to think he stopped 200 ml and didn't care. He now sleeps 7pm-5am so that's great.

Lewis is 9kg now, I get comments all the time about what a big boy he is! My friend has a 21 month old who is only 10kg! They all come in different packages hey?!:)

Anyway hope everyone has a nice long weekend.

Well I gave in last night and we just went to bed in my bed .. I was too tired to try and persevere (naughty me I know). We have just put the cot in our room next to the bed so hopefully I can update with some good new this afternoon! Kenzie is really enjoying her bath time now she can sit up in the bath and play with all her bath toys ... so cute!! I have switched to Gaia Skin Naturals and its been great for her skin only a small bit of exzema (sp?) left on her cheek and it nearly all gone yay!


rylansmum :: How exciting planning your wedding!! You sound like you are on top of things and all organised. I have so much to do I just won;t know where to start. We are getting married on one of the whitsunday islands its just gorgous up there! Ashlyn sounds like she is into everything like all the June babies keeping us very busy! The only TV that Kenzie will actually sit up and watch is the "So you think you can dance ad" - the one with the song that goes "Every body move yur feet and feel united whoooahwoa" MMM! Strange little child she is! hehehe

Charlyfrog :: OMG about DH and the poo pants! My DH would not have coped with that PMSL .. he prolly would have got the hose and took her into the garden hehehe

Starfish :: The sleeping didnt go so well .. I havent had time to put the cot in her bed before this morning so she has been in my bed (much to her delight!) I have just put the cot next to our bed to get ready for the day sleeps so I'll update later today and let you know how it goes!

Debbie :: :bluedust: on TTC #2!! Aiden will just love having a sibling so close to his age. We are thinking of TTC aswell .. just not 100% sure yet when that will be. :cheer: on Aidens teeth - it really changes the way they look doesnt it? :hugs: I am so sorry one of your dogs is ill :( At least Aiden is too young to understand what happening it horrible when you have to explain these things to children

Feathertop :: Keep trying with the food! Kenzie used to dry reach at everything (except custard lil monkey) I put in her mouth, now she eat her veges as long as there is no lumps. Good luck!! Poor DH .. hope he gets well soon!

Sarah - thanks. Even with 3 solids a day, he was still having 1 to 2 feeds overnight.

But, i think he has been using it more to resettle, then he actually needed. Last night, he went to bed at 8, stirred a little about 9.30, and i just resettled him, then didnt hear a thing till 2. I tried to resettle, but, he was screaming, and holding his ear, so i gave him a bottle. I think this teethign thing is really being bad for him this time around. Still no bumps thou, i might take him back to drs to make sure he doesnt have an ear infection. Anyway, about 5.30this morning, thru to about 6.30, he was awake in his cot, and just grizzled abit, and i think played with the toys that are in there, and, i havent heard anything from him for nearly an hour now. So, i am guessing he has resettled himself.

Jen, goodluck with the sleeping thing. We decided to start ttc#2 as soon as AF returned, as it took as awhile to conceive Aiden. And we do want to keep them close together.

Thanks also Sarah & Jen on your thoughts for my poor little dog. My other dog is abit mopey, and keeps goign to the kennel looking for her. Its hard. But, it will get easier. We keep reminding ourselves that it was for the best.

Jen - yeah I did spend quite a bit of time at child care prior to starting work and its def getting easier now - and thanks for all your suggestions! and good luck with the sleeping, I know Jackson has some very tough nights - usually on a wed or thurs when I have to go to work the next day - and I usually cave in and bring him into bed with us as well its just so much easier - so I guess I'm making the same rod but he does seem to be able to settle himself more now and I think the myth about more solids and sleeping better is true for my DS

Debbie - so sorry to hear about your dog - :hug: I hope your other little dog isn't too sad as well and good luck with TTC - we'll all be keeping our fingers and toes crossed for you

Feathertop -oh no at your nappy disaster - we call them faecal emergencies and they seem to happen at the worst time possible don't they!! its good you got a replacement packet from the company well done and Jackson is commando crawling everywhere now too - just can't stop him anymore

I think Mackenzie and I might had some sort of virus .. or just days of not getting solid sleep are catching up. I put her to bed in her cot this afternoon (right next to my bed with the side off) and she didnt settle. I gave her some cuddles in my bed with the intention of putting her back, but we both fell asleep and slept till 7.30 pm! I felt so much better for the sleep ... but little Kenzie was snuggled up right beside me and of course when I went to get out her little eyes opened and she was in play mode!!

So at 10pm I decide that its time for bed and she had been fed / bathed / had diner etc.. and I put her in her cot and layed in my bed literally right next to her.. and she wasnt happy! So I fed her while she was laying in her cot and she went to sleep. I layed there next to her for about 20mins and it seems that she is getting startled by something every 10 mins or so and reaches out to touch me, if I am next to her she settles back to sleep straight away. If she can't reach me then she wakes up and screams! Its 1am now and she has been aleep in her cot for about an hour now with out wakeing so hopefully tonight might be the turning point for her getting used to sleeping in her cot and well take baby steps from there!!

Oh and my AF has returned with vengence!! So DH and I had better start thinking quickly if we want another baby now and postpone the wedding a bit or wait till next year. I am 30 so I dont want to leave it toooo much longer iykwim.

Debbie :: Do you find having toys in the cot helps Aiden resettle or just stimulates him at bed time? I am willing try try anything Kenzie wakes up every 2 hours at least and the only way to resettle id with the boobie ..driving me crazy!

Mel :: I am hoping once Keznie gets the solids routine happening she is very fussy when it comes to food. How much do you actually give Jackson at each meal? Is 1 jar of Apples enough for a 7 month old bubby?

Hi everyone

Well, so far we've had a good long weekend. On Saturday we went to an event in the park, then were going to go into town to watch the fireworks, but Diana fell asleep, so we stayed home and watched a DVD instead. (Actually, I'm glad that Diana went to sleep as I was too tired to go out anyway.)

Yesterday, Diana had a good day-sleep day. She slept til 10:30 in the morning (she work up before that - don't know what time it was, but I told her to go back to sleep, went to sleep myself and when I woke up at 9:50am, she was asleep). Woo hoo. She had 2 more naps of over an hour during the day too. She ate mince and beans for dinner last night and a few hours later did a poo in the potty - the nappy was clean! Yay! (Okay, probably TMI).

Today she managed to squirm off my lap and fall to the floor while I was trying to post on BB. I feel like a bad mummy now, but I think that she'll be fine. :pray:

Debbie - good luck with TTC. Hope you get a BFP soon. You are so brave wanting to do it all again! Although I am thinking of giving Diana a little brother or sister sometime I am still so not ready...

Jen - hope Kenzie takes to sleeping in her cot. It may take a few nights, but I' sure you'll get there. Good luck.

Debbie - oh lovey! Sorry to hear about your dog. :hug: I hope your other dog recovers fast too! But on a brighter note.............STICKY VIBES!!!!!!! Hehe! DD#2 has been grabbing behind her ears as well making me worry that she might have an ear issue but today found another little tooth trying to break through, so wondering if that is what is causing her to grab?? Hows the sleeping through going for Aiden and you?? Sounds like you've got it covered though so when you are pg you'll get that precious rest you're definitely going to need!

Mel_thekiwimum - So glad to hear that the child care is working for you now! That must be a real weight off your mind!

Celsie - How are you and Caeleb?? Also, how is your DH doing these days?? Thinking of you!

Feathertop - how is your DH?? It took DD#2 ages to catch onto solids which really shocked me as DD#1 would eat until the cows came home :p Then bizarrely enough something must've clicked with her as now she is in a nice eating mode! To the point that apparently I can't feed her fast enough, lol! She also wasn't a huge fan of the cereal at all so have been mixing it with apple and started off really thin in the beginning. Even then she would only take the tiniest amount which was really doing my head in. Made me worried if she was getting enough all round iykwim. Now that she has taken to eating she chows down much to my relief. Hope it all works out for you love! (I have noticed though that DD must be a bit of a diva as she will eat really well if the food is warm.........when it cools down its harder to get her to take it but as soon as I reheat it, down it goes! Good grief! Lol!)

MumofLewis - they certainly come in different packages....and then they can change again so much!! DD#1 was such a chubba bubba! :p And now, even though there is 2&1/2 years difference between the girls, there is only around a 4kg difference in weight!! Hahaha!! Sounds like your little one is thriving!!! Woohoo!

Rylansmum - how are the wedding plans coming along?? So exciting!!

Well, DD#1 is going great guns with her toilet training! I posted in the tt section a woohoo for DD as DH & I were out of the room the other day when we heard her call out to daddy. I thought we had issues (after that other experience a couple of days before) but when we got down to her, she was sitting on the potty and had done a poo!! Completely by herself, unprompted by us to use the potty!! I am so proud of her!! I have watched her playing and then stop all by herself to go do what she needs to on the potty! She hasn't worn nappies during the day a week tomorrow and the accidents are now few and far between!
Its just me who has the issues as I didn't hold the potty properly as she hopped up off it yesterday and so her wee went all over the floor!!! :doh: I was so frustrated at myself - thank goodness it was on tiles!

I think DD#2 is cutting a new tooth - today has been a tad draining as she is only happy if she is in my arms. This is unlike her which made me look and sure enough there is a little white dot on the bottom of her gum, 2 spaces over from her middle teeth. DD#1 got her 2 bottom the 2 top teeth so looks like DD#2 wants to be different.............as usual!! LOL!! She is also rocking on her hands and knees and then throws herself forward! Lol! So not long now I guess. I think she is also becoming a mummy's girl because if I go out of her sight lately, she is not happy! Even if DH is holding her :rolleyes: Hoping that the new tooth is the culprit! (fingers crossed!)

Oh very funny thing the other night! DD#2 does a fake cough!! :lol: It must've begun when she made the sound, either a real cough or not, and mummy and/or daddy gave her immediate attention..........so she picked up on that!! Anyways, I had just finished her last feed for the night and had her sitting on my lap and I did a real cough. Well, she thought that that was absolutely hilarious and had the biggest chuckle ever!! The more I did it (in the end I was doing fake coughs to get her to laugh..........hehehe!) the more she laughed and then she would copy!! I was laughing so much I was crying! It really was a crack up!!

Well, I best be off as DD#1 doesn't quite get the concept of "quiet time"! Lol!! Ah well, less nappies is a good pay off right now! Lol!! Take care all, will bbl!

Hi ladies sorry its been a while..with work and the kids its hard to do everything lol
My wedding plans are coming along very well i think..we are trying to find a videographer atm not an easy task unfortunately..i think i have high expectations lol as everything ive seen looks like i could have filmed it myself.

Ashlyn is going great, finally settling into day sleeps, not all the time though but we are getting there, she is also discovered the house consists of more than just the loungeroom lol
Oh and she is doing the cutest thing..she waves!!!! I thought it was just random arm movement but if you say night night ashlyn and wave she will have back..its a fullarm wobble but defiantely a wave...sooooo cute!!!
Charlyfrog Ashlyn also does that its the cutest thing isnt it..they look at you as if they are so clever!!

Rylan starts preschool on Thursday its just at the end of my street so its very handy and he is very excited and im starting to worry about oh what if the other kids scare him and as he hasnt been TT for too long he has issues pulling his pants up..he would rather take them off and run around starkers LOL..i hope he is ok!! OMG my baby is going to preschool!!!

Rylansmum - LOL about Rylan liking being starkers! I'm sure they will be used to it at preschool, my nephew does the same thing too :doh: I think you are right to take care with your videographer, ours did look like we could have done it ourselves! It was rubbish.

I am at work today and so tired. Last night when I put Lewis to bed, he cried for about half an hour on and off, something he never does. I just kept going in every few minutes and putting his dummy in. I knew he wasn't sick because he was fine during the day etc. Anyway he woke up at 5am as usual and then when it was time to go back down about 6.30am he cried again for ages. We reckon he is doing it because he doesn't want to go to sleep, he wants to play instead. That's all we can think of as he is all smiles once you take him out. So we will have to see how long this phase goes on for. Its weird for a little boy who has never cried in his cot before. He must be getting a bit cluey!
Also he keeps pulling his hair. Does anyone elses bub's do this? I think he may have a dry scalp as I see faint small patches of dry skin sometimes. I don't know what to use, I already use natural shampoo and olive oil. But he really yanks at it sometimes, I feel sorry for him.

We took him to the beach on Sunday and he had a little paddle in the sea, he loved it. He was kicking and splashing. We start swimming lessons on Thursday afternoon so he should enjoy them.

Oh and would you believe he still won't jump in his jolly jumper! He just doesn't get it! He either pulls his legs up so he is just swinging around in mid air, or just stands and looks around. I can't believe I have the only kid in the world who doesn't like it! I'll give him a few more months and then sell it on ebay!

Zofia - your not a bad mummy at all you just have an active little munchkin - Mikayla is just the same. No matter how vigilant you are it is bound to happen - its all part of their development. Eventually they'll learn from it... right???

Mel - great to hear that Jackson is enjoying child care. It must be a load off your mind.

Debbie - so sorry to hear about your dog :hug: Even though ours are a handful, and we always joke about getting rid of them, I know I would be devastated if one of them needed to be put down. Hope Aiden is doing well.

Well I dont know whats happening with Mikayla at the moment. Her sleeping patterns are just all over the place!! She only has 2 power naps during the day (usually 30-45mins) and is just terrible at night. She wakes up crying, shaking and scrambling to get out of her cot - like she's terrified of something. Most of the time she's still half asleep and her legs are really wobbly so she hits her head in the process making it even worse. Last night I put her down at 7pm and she was up every 1/2 hour. Then at 3am she woke up in such a state, she had her eyes open and was looking around like she was scared of something but I really think she was still asleep. I had trouble settling her and even after putting her into our bed she was still very restless and crying in her sleep. My neighbour suggested that she might be having night terrors which I didnt seriously consider until last night. My poor little girl really looked petrified. I dont know what I can do to help her. What could she possibly be dreaming about? Isnt she too young for bad dreams/nightmares?? Any ideas or suggestions??????

I'm at work so have to go but will try to check back in tonight.

Thanks all for you warm thoughts of me and my dog, and all the baby dust and sticky vibes you have been sending my way. I hope it all works. I am tempted to test already, but, I will wait till AF is due.

Mel – Glad to hear Jackson is settling well into childcare. I hope he gets over his cold quickly.

Jen – in Aiden’s cot, I really only have some teething toys. A set of ‘keys’, 2 small teddies, and another big teething ring. Sometimes, during the night, if he is abit awake, I can leave the hall light on, and his door ajar, and he will play for a bit, and then go back to sleep on his own. ATM, he is teething, and I can sometimes only get him to sleep by lying down with him on the bed. I cuddle him up on his side in the crook of my arm, and then, when he is asleep, I put a pillow there, so he can still feel something along his back, and, so far, it seems to work.

Aiden has 3 meals a day as well - 1 jar of Heinz breakfast stuff, porridge or muesli variety for breakfast, 1 baby yoghurt for lunch, and then homemade meat & vege for tea, about 120gms, plus a baby yoghurt. He will generally still have 3 to 4 bottles a day as well, depending. While teething, he doesn’t tend to want milk.

Zofia – Congrats of the great sleep! Wow, that’s wonderful. Sometimes I think I am mad at wanting another one so soon, but, then Aiden smiles, and I forget about the tears and how frustrating it can be.

Charly – Aiden is constantly rubbing his ears. Is well into his 2nd week of doing it, maybe even longer, but, no teeth yet. I am thinking about taking him to the gp to make sure he doesn’t have an ear infection. He does drool, fingers in mouth etc, but, still, not even a bump on his gums. I feel so sorry for him. I am not really stressing atm with his night sleeps, as last night, he slept better, but when he was waking, he was holding his ears. I have cut him back to 1 feed overnight which is better thou. Oh, he does the fake cough thing to, it sooo cute. Congrats to DD#1 for the TT as well. Way to go!

Rylansmum – ROFL at Rylan – how cute! We all have that to look forward to I am sure. Will be thinking of you both on Thursday. Hugs. And how cute of Ashlyn to wave! I can’t wait for Aiden to start responding like that.

Sarah – it’s frustratingly cute when you want them to sleep, they want to play. It’s hard to resist the cute smiles isn’t it? I hope Lewis settles down and sleeps better for you at nights. Aiden starts swimming lessons next week, I can’t wait. He loves the water. He doesn’t pull his hair, so, I can give you any help on that one. I know some of the mums at my playgroup use some sort of natural baby wash with either apricot or almond oil in it. Can’t remember, but, apparently its good, and they get it from an all natural type store. I’ll ask today what exactly it is, and let you know.

Tina – sounds like night terrors. Poor little thing. I can’t think what they would have to be scared off, but, it certainly is what it seems. Mikayla is not going thru some sort of separation anxiety is she? Maybe during the day, letting her go to sleep with you (or your DH) on your bed, even if it means she just might get a few good sleeps in, and will then help her better at night. Have you tried the Brauers Calm? Or, I know they don’t recommend it anymore, but, phernagan? I have it for Aiden now, as he was waking up screaming in his sleep. I told the chemist I had a older child, and they gave it to me. The dosage on it is 5-15ml for a 2 to 5yr old I think. I give Aiden about 1 - 1.3ml and it doesn’t knock him out completely, he will still wake overnight 1 or 2 times for a feed, but, it just is enough to settle him. Sometimes, during the day if he is really really unsettled, I will give him 0.5ml, just to help him abit. Esp with the teething thing, as if I have just given him panadol within the last 30min or so, he will throw up milk, so I cant use milk if I need to get him to sleep. Goodluck.

Oh, on Aiden’s 7month birthday, we measured and weighed him. 78cm, 10.6kg. I am thinking about size 1’s already!! This boy is going to be a tall kid.

Poor Mikayla, fancy having bad dreams already. I googled night terrors and it did say it can be caused by irregular sleep patterns and overtiredness. Maybe the short day sleeps are causing the bad dreams at night? Anyway you will have to read up on it but I can't think of much to help with day sleeping, Lewis only has 2 sleeps in the day of 30-60 mins each aswell. Apparently they can be trained to resettle themselves back to sleep but he never has been able to do it.

Debbie - Lewis has been pulling his ears for about a week too. I wondered if it's just that he knows they are there and likes pulling them! I don't think he has teeth coming at the moment. I did also wonder about an ear infection especially with the swimming lessons this week, but I figure he's not grumpy so I'm sure it's okay. Lewis is nearly in size 1 aswell, in fact his Cotton On stuff is size 1. I wonder if we had girls next time, would they be much smaller??

Quick post! Took DD#2 to the drs because of her consistently scratching behind her ears and nope, nothing wrong! :rolleyes: Just big smiles for the dr! Lol! The dr (who has 3 children of her own) just thinks that she has simply discovered that she has these weird things on both sides of her head! (aka ears!) I also think that she is fascinated with the sensation of the scratching! :lol:

Teepee2 - omg love! How horrible!! Oh does that mess with your heart?? I hope she gets through this stage fast and if it is sleep related that she'll settle soon in to a really good, restful pattern. I know it can sometimes be slightly inconvenient but I agree with Debbie maybe just for the sake of getting her to sleep letting her lay with you?? Its a tricky one because its like you don't want to start one habit that will need to be retrained later on but the poor little love!! I hope you find something that works! :hug:

Teepee - How's Mikayla's bad dreams?

Charly - So DD2 loves her ears then?! I think Lewis likes his too as I don't think he is teething but he often plays with them.

We went for Lewis's first swimming lesson yesterday, there was only 2 babies so it was good. He quite enjoyed it, he is so nosey though that he spent half the lesson looking at someone on the other side of the pool!

He is coming on with his crawling, he pushes his legs forward with his bum in the air but hasn't worked out what to do with his arms yet, so he just lands on his head :doh: He will be 7 months on Sunday, how time flies!

Anyway nearly bath time so must go.

HI girls

Again i am one guilty of MIA lol... as you can appreciate life is crazy with a toddler.

Ashley is almost crawling.. (so dont feel bad charlyfrog)... she will maybe do 1 or 2 knees then belly down lol... she can get from a to b though in her own way.

SHe has 2 teeth and been grumpy and needy so i wonder if more are on their way.

Weaned 4 weeks ago onto formula for work (now work doesnt think i will get any work which is a whole other vent raah!!!! ). She really only has about 600ml/day.

I spoke to my midwife at the ABA meetings and she said it is a little low but she looks healthy, still having 4-5 wet nappies and 2 x poos a day . so she doesnt sound dehydrated. She will also eat 3 meals a days (about 3 tablespoons each).

I jumped on the scales with her today and she was about 6.5 kg.... does that sound light???

I think i will have to book her in for a proper weight and measure next week at the baby clinic.

What are everyone elses weights?

As for ttc#2 - well i am STILL waiting for AF to return.. i mean how long can it be!!! so trying to catch the first egg! Does anyone else remember how long it took after weaning (if you have?)


Mum of Lewis - i am hoping to take ashy to her swimming lessons soon! she loves the water too!

Tina - Ashley has been doing that too the last couple of nights --- waking up screaming blue murder like she has fallen out of the cot - get in there and she is sitting up screaming - i put her dummy in her mouth, lay her down and she falls to sleep... i am putting it down to nightmares!!

Caeleb is 8.3 kilos (he's the smallest in our Mother's Group). Like Caeleb, she wasn't huge when she was born was she, but as long as she's still gaining weight, I wouldn't be worried. Some people are just naturally smaller. I had a little bubba in child care years ago, who was always so light. I saw her a few weeks back (she's now 5 years old) and she's normal size for her age. :)

hi everyone, gees I have been a slacker and not been on here for ages! so much has been happening with everyone! I havent read many, but i will get up to date soon on you all!

Dane has now got his 2 bottom teeth, his 2 front top teeth have just cut thru and the eye teeth are only days away! ahhhh I have had many sleepless nites lately, it really has been terrible! I was tempted to jump on here the other morning about 3am and have a breakdown! He is waking every hour, and he wants a boob everytime. When I go in to him when he wakes, if I can just give him a rub or something i do, but lately he is standing and waiting to picked up, so I try to cuddle him and he will force his way to my boob and it is like he has super strength when doing this! Then I will put him back in his cot, go back to my bed, lie down and he will cry again, very very loudly, so i have to go back and it goes on... is anyone else having something similar? is this just the teething??

I had a rough nite last nite with him and was so close to tears and it just seemed so hard, but then today wen thinking about it, it didnt seem so bad and I was thinking why did i get so upset. I no it was cos I was tired, but does anyone else ever feel like this? that it seems worse at the time???

Dane is very clingy at the moment too, if you try to put him down he will hang on like his life depends on it or when i leave the room he gets quite upset. The one good thing that has come outta of it is he likes cuddles now, he never has been very cuddly and only liked to be touched when he wanted to iykwim? but now i get lots of cuddles!

On a brighter note, dane is mastering walking holding only on to one of our hands! He is so active and mobile it is crazy! My mum bought him a "walk n ride" thing that he can walk behind and hang on to the handle or he can sit on it, it is very cool and he had a few go's today and was loving it.

Mumoflewis - how did u both enjoy the swimming lessons? I had dane in a class for few weeks and it was great, he loved it! but he too was more interested in everything else going on around him! But he can go under the water very well and hold his breath, he just forgets to close his eyes sometimes! I keep taking to the pool and practise as often as possible and luckily it is very hot up here in Sarina. What sorts of things did you do in your lessons? We played a "humpty dumpty" game where he sits on the side of the pool and you sing humpty dumpty and when you say had a great fall, you pull them in and under the water! it was scary to do to him at first but then he is cool with it so i got better! We played ring a rosie too, same kinda thing.

anyway, i have had my rant, thanks and sorry if i have asked things that you have already been over!

i am off back to bed, no doubt i will be up very soon :(

Oh dear - we have had some horrid nights. Two nights in a row, Aiden went to bed at 8pm like normal, but, was unsettled. Then, at about 10.15 (exactly both nights) he would wake screaming, and would carry on like this for a good 30min. When i could get to settle, and back to sleep in my arms, i would put him back into his cot. As soon as i lay him down, he would start screaming again. Eventually, after about 90min or so, he would be wide awake, and would stay awake till about 1.30/2am, when he would go back to sleep, and sleep till about 8.30, but, i would still resettle him about every hour.

Last night was better, no screaming or wide awake moments, but, he did need to resettled about 3times, as well as 2 bottles. Which is better then the screaming bits, which, hopefully, wont happen again. Although, sometimes he holds his left ear and crys. So, i think teething is an issue as well. I did take him to the gp yesterday to make sure he didnt have an ear infection.

Some bits i forgot to mention - Aiden had his first hair cut! On Australia day, his 7month birthday. He still had some long bits of baby hair on the top of his head, then, all his normal new hair. So, i had that cut off at the hair dressers whilst getting my hair cut.
He waves, although, never when he's meant to. Shakes his head no when he doesnt want something, or, just cause he can and thinks its funny.
Is eating really well. I used to give him his veges all mixed in together, but, now he gets them all seperate so he gets used to the individual flavours. I have been going really well on making his own food. For breakfast, he has been having banana and rockmelon. Lunch yesterday he had brocolli, cauli, pumpkin and pear. For dinner, potatoe, corn and carrot. Am so happy that he eats everything.
Is getting better comando crawling - although, it is still only backwards. But, he is starting to get around. And, like Lewis, does the whole lifts his bum up, and lands on his face. Loves to walk much more thou.

AF due any moment now. Will hold off till Monday to test. But, i think by the time Monday comes, if still no AF, i will probably wait abit longer, as scared of 'jinxing' myself. I am feeling positive thou.

Sarah - I come from a tall family, i am 178cm, and the 2nd shortest in my family, and my DH is about 186cm, so, theres not much chance we will have short kids. Although, DH's family isnt that tall, so, i guess theres abit of a chance. But, not with Aiden. I have brought him size 2 tops for next summer, and i am now thinking that they might be to small for him!

Aiden starts his swimming lessons on Wednesday. He loves the water, so, i am hoping he goes well. Funny you mentioned Lewis being a sticky beak, i think Aiden will do the same thing. He just loves to watch people and be part of what everyone is doing. Cute, but painful at times.

Missbanana - sounds like what we are going thru with the night thing. How long did it take for Danes teeth to come thru? This unsettled thing, and ear holding has been goign on for nearlly 3weeks now.
Hugs to you with the bad nights. Its tough. And i know at the time, it feels like it lasts forever, but, when you look back, its only 20min or something, its just cause you are tired and want to be asleep. Hang in there, you will make it thru ok.

PM - some of the babies in my mothers group are still in the 6kg range as well. Aiden is 10.6, so the biggest bub. But, also the longest. According to the charts, he is underweight for his height, but, it doesnt bother me. He is happy (mostly) & healthy.

Anyway - must scoot. Stayed up this mornign after DH went to work, with the intention of doing the ironing while Aiden is asleep.. an hour later... :doh: still here.. Oh well.

Debbie and Miss Banana - I really feel for you both with the unsettled nights. Why don't you give Tresillian a ring on their 24 hour hotline, that is what they are there for and they are sleep experts! My friend took her little boy for 3 nights and he was a reformed bub afterwards! They have a website.

Miss Banana - Yes we played those games too at swimming, amd also used a mini floaty, and one of those tube things to play horseys! His favourite was being lifted up high and back down again, same as outside the water!

Debbie - That is so cute that Aiden shakes his head for no! I am trying to teach Lewis to wave bye bye, but nothing yet. He constantly says da da da da but not many other sounds that make sense.
Lewis eats load too, melon or pear for breakfast with rice cereal, and then different vegies for lunch and dinner plus a yoghurt. He also likes rye cruskits as a snack as they just melt. When can we try them on bread? Apparently it should be wholemeal as it's softer, but I'm not sure when wheat is safe for them. I tried him with that baby dairylea cheese but it stuck to the top of his mouth.

Oh well, off to look on ebay for a little stroller, I'm fed up of carting the big stroller around the shopping centre etc.

Sarah - how do you give him the cruskits? Just hand him one? I am hopeless with foods, as i am terrified of him choking, so, am abit boring in trying new things.
