KB - yeah the graph is silly and especially when the MCHN gets all anxious. We have our 6 month check next week and I hope there is no stupid stuff
I just spoke to my MIL and she said Miss T took a bottle of EBM last night!!!!!! That is a first and means I can go out occasionally at night now.
The gig last night was really interesting with some creative young talent. I initially flet concerned about the loudness but then remembered that I am not carrying a baby and she wasnt with us. Felt good actually. Tired today though
-
Kell they like babies to follow a curve. Like kodi is below average for weight but because her curve has below average since 12wks they're not worried, but when Kodi has that big dip at 12wks we had to go in for weekly weighs till they were satisfied she was just a small gainer.
I wouldn't worry about it, any weight gain is good & with Ella being 8kgs i think your doing a fantastic job.
Linda welcome back, i'm so looking forward to meeting you next month!
JB i'm so sorry for your loss
Still no solids here & Kodi had her 6 month check-up.
She weighs 6.7kg & is 65.5 cms long.
I'll bbl :)

vent alert...
Hi,
can i rejoin??? I was here ages ago but have been having a hard time with my girl!! she is currently being investigated for rare metabolic disorders due to lesions found on her liver!! she also has a nasogastric tube in her nose as she refuses to feed and we are currently going through feeding therapy at Princess Margaret hospital due to her oral sensitivities! none of this has been what i imagined, my little girl is only 52cm long and weighs a tiny 4.5kg. Every day is a struggle for us but i'm just praying we get some answers soon so our little girl can be a normal happy and healthy bub!!! sorry for the vent but just wanted to let you know about me. look forward to getting to know you all. hope everyone's stories are a lot more positive!
-

-
Just popping in to push us back t o page 1 again
Kodi is 6 months today & i'm so happy we made t to 6 months b/fing :)
Does anyone else have a super clingy baby? I can't even leave the room without K cracking up!
-
thanks Tiggerlinda...didnt notice your post before!
-
How exciting, Linda! Sending you the best of vibes. Also hope you have a fantastic trip, will miss you and miss c!
Dotty, hope things improve for you and your little one.
Mo, we are having a super clingy bub but to be honest, she has always been much like that. She won't go to anyone and freaks if I go out of sight... Happy 6 Months to your little lady.
I have had the worst day. I must have broken a mirror or walked under a ladder. I am sitting here, just days after my proud 6 month breastfeeding mark, wondering if we are approaching the end. I don't know if it is the heat, the fact I have AF, if she is cutting her top teeth or she has nipple confusion but I cannot get Imogen to attach... she doesn't even try to suck, not once, just clamps down with her top gum and bottom teeth... my nipples are sore, she hasn't eaten for hours and I don't know what to do... I'm so scared that she will never come back to the boob. I don't mind expressing or formula feeding but I don't know the first thing about it and feel so overwhelmed.
:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
-
Awww JB sweety, i'm so sorry
I bet it's all of those factors & she will come back to boob.
Can't really help with the b/fing issue but i can listen & if you decide on ff i can help you with that.
I hope you & Immy are back on track today :)
-
you'll be right JB! these things happen. if you just perservere she will go back for it. i have found that they do go through stages like that for one reason or another. take her into a dark room and feed her in the way that you feel most comfortable.. for us its the side laying position. dont do it every 15mins but more like every hour until she has a good feed. dont forget that bubs can drain a boob in 6 mins at this age.! :-)
chelsea has woken up with a snotty nose and a bit chesty too. a slight cough as well! she feels warm but no temp. but its that warm feeling that you know will lead to a temperature before the day is out! YAY!! *sarcasm*
-
JB - How did you and Immy go last night? I hope that you can get back on track with her and that it's just a phase. We're all here to support you
Hollo - Fingers crossed that Chelsea gets better soon and that noone else gets sick!
Mo - Alexandra isn't really that clingy, she has started to cry when I leave the room sometimes but I try to make sure that she's got a toy or something to play with and let her know that I'm coming back.
Dotty - Welcome back! Sounds like you are doing everything that you possibly can for your little girl, I can only imagine how difficult it must be. I also hope that you get some answers quickly.
TL - Hope you guys have a nice drive down south and that Miss C goes ok in the car. Enjoy your holiday!
SP - Yay on the EBM and the night out! Sounds like you had fun and maybe you should do it more often ;)
-
Okay, I'm feeling a bit better this morning. She had a feed in her sleep sometime over night but won't attach again this morning so have left her for a bit and will offer it later. I was so stressed last night, it was so long between feeds so I am hoping that she isn't that persistent today... not sure how much I can take and she doesn't sleep enough to get feeds into her that way haha. One of my nipples got bitten so hard she drew blood and the other side, although not as bad is still pretty sore. I really hope it is just a phase and there is a lot going on that could cause it...
Hope Chelsea is feeling better soon xo
-
JB- you should start a thread in the breastfeeding section. you usually get a whole heap of awesome advice with stuff like that in there. is she taking water from a bottle or cup at all?
-
JB - How did you and Immy go today?
-
We are doing okay, I am wondering if this is her way of telling me she wants to drop feeds? Or some development? Honestly, I am so confused about what is going on!
She has had a feed every 4-5hrs today... is that enough? She messes around, biting etc before attaching but once she is on, she feeds as per usual. I'm used to her being attached every 2hrs and for comfort and for sleep... and just constantly... so it is a bit of a shock to the system.
I don't know, I've just been trying all the standard advice (have a shower, we don't have a bath; lay in bed in the dark and calm; if she bites, put her down and offer again later) and remembering that this is probably a phase that I have to ride out. If things are still bad in a few days, then I might contact a lactation consultant.
Have been talking to some Mummy friends who have been really good. I think just venting helps because I am so stressed about it. My mind is racing.
On a more positive and happy note: we got our new rental approved and signed the papers today! Paid our two weeks rent and bond so everything is set for moving in on the 10th of Oct. Can't wait to have more space. One bedroom is getting really old, fast haha.
-
every 4-5 hours sounds normal, although obviously a big change from what she was doing. We have about 6-7 feeds a day including 1-2 overnight feeds. I found that Alexandra's feeding changed a bit when we started solids and also because we weren't doing solids every day it was a bit out of whack. I've been trying to get into a bit more of a routine with it. Has Immy been really irritable or upset? Or does she just not want to feed? Sounds like you are doing all of the right things, try not to stress too much, you don't it to affect your supply on top of everything else.
I remember when Alexandra was born she lost a fair bit of weight and didn't put any on for 2 weeks. I was freaking out big time after the 3rd time we weighed her and I was trying to get her to feed 3 hrly and expressing so that I could see how much milk she was getting whilst trying to suppress the thoughts that I was starving her.
Not sure what my point was with that story  but i guess if we follow their lead then we can't really go wrong.
BTW congrats on getting a new place and good luck moving. I am procrastinating big time instead of packing up our stuff.
-
Yeah, she doesn't seem upset, unsettled or anything like that. Just doesn't want to feed. Part of me thinks it might be that she doesn't like the time out of feeding because she has been making up for it by feeding more overnight/in her sleep - two birds, one stone type of girl haha. Hopefully, it is a temporary thing! I think she is having about 6-8 feeds a day so she is probably perfectly fine... just the stress of it changing so dramatically!
Ahh, we definitely worry more than they do about this sort of thing...
-
yeah thats fine JB, 4-5hrs imean. you are probably feeling a bit sad because YOU have grown attached to feeding so often. i know that i start to miss it when i havent BF for longer than usual and i usually try sticking her on just cause i want to. probably a bad thing interms of routine. HAH routine.. whats that! :-/
-
Jb how is Immy doing today?
My big baby turns 2 tomorrow & i still can't get over how much she has changed.
She has turned into a real little girl iykwim.
-
Wow, two tomorrow! That is uneblievably exciting... no longer can you claim to have two under two haha ;)
Update on me... today has been okay. Last night was a nightmare... the biting has stopped though which is relieving. I've never felt so overwhelmed and confused... worried, scared... like I don't have any idea what I am doing. Sorry for being basically selfish in my posting lately... I hope all the other bubbas are doing alright xo
-
Maddi's party went well, she got so many presents she didn't know what to do with them all lol.
Kodi is doing well, been so grizzly ever since her needles tho.
JB hope you & Immy have got the feeding all sorted out.
-
Mo - I'm glad Maddi's party went well - Happy Birthday to her
JB - feeling for you with the feeding issues. I hope things are starting to settle down.
Went to Health centre last Monday - weight and HC remain on 50th percentile but length is going down - ha! Not surprising as DH and I are pretty short really.
I am very scepticle re medical stuff as I have worked in health for over 20 years so sorry if I dont sound like a conformist at times - hard to trust when you know so much - most nurses have this ailment
Dotty - feel for you deeply. What a terrific little fighter you have.
praying that you will get the answers and support you need. x
-
Oh Jess sweetie  sorry I have not been there for you this week. Sweetie call me if you need it hun. C stopped feeding for a bit a few weeks ago too and this week has dropped another bottle.
Is Immy on soilds she may reduce the feeds on solids
Mo: I am so glad the party went well
AFM: Naming Day went well although I am aware I am too old to do things at home anymore and being a Mum has clearly shown what I can and cannot cope with by way of interefance in my child's day.
-
Good to hear the naming ceremony went well. Selfishly can't wait for you to get back! So excited about your upcoming cycle!!
Honestly, have just had the worst weekend. Don't want to go on too much because I feel like I have been so negative lately. Basically, Imogen was sick, DF was working 10pm to 6am and my parents are overseas. I really suck as a Mum. I honestly really just can't do it.
How are you going Dotty? Hope things are alright xo
-
Jess you know you can talk to us all you want, Who cares if the post is all about you,
I'm here to listen pm me if you need. You don't suck as a Mum i can tell you stories of when Maddi was a baby & i can guarantee they are far worse ;)
Linda glad your naming day went well.
SP nice hear T is doing well :)
-
Hey JB, you are evidently an excellent mum! I mean it. You are showing enormous concern for your baby and you have a strong desire to do your best to care for her well. That is what makes a "good" parent. Of course everything about raising kids is grey but we wish it were black and white. I have had tantrums 'back in the day' when I lacked support and felt frustrated with the situation but it didnt make me a 'bad' mum. I have apologised to my kids numerous times over the years for making mistakes.
Definition: A 'bad parent' is one that does not care about the impact they have on their offspring, has kids to benefit themselves, and wouldnt say they are a 'bad parent'.
Hang in their babe! And get a professional opinion on what is happening with bubs. A good paediatrician or health centre nurse may do the trick, or call your local mother baby unit staff. If they tell you not to worry but you are still worried ask again until you feel you know what is going on.
TL - best of luck and :bluedust: for your big days ahead!
-
Oh hey is that what baby dust is for? I have always wanted to use it but havent had an occasion!
-
JB the end of our last week was ****ty for me too! DH comes home like after 6 pretty much every night and it is really hard feeding, bathing and getting dinner ready with 2 kids. Hannah is super whingy and chelsea is super clingy! sometimes it is unbearable and i too feel like i need to have more patience with them. i think we all get like that sometimes!
Chelsea has a chest infection and hannah has an ear infection! so that is probably why they have both been so hard to handle lately!
TL- cant wait to hear all about your TTC journey!
-
Thanks SP for the Baby Dust!
JB - sweetie post away after reading it all I say she maybe looking at dropping a feed C chews her teats. You are an amazing Mum I have seen you and you do a fab job sweetie.
Love you all so much fellow Mummies and I think we should remember this job is not meant to be smiles all the time like any job
-
Yeah, probably true. It is all a bit of a mess since she has a virus at the moment so I'm worried about her dehydrating and trying to get a lot of feeds into her. Then dealing with the hourly GREEN foul smelly dirty nappies and the nappy rash it has caused. She also has a temp :(
She won't let me put her down, even when she is asleep it is hard because her tummy is sore and her bum is sore so she doesn't want to lay on either! Oh and trying to get a urine sample from a 6 month old is FUN! Holy moly the things you learn as a Mum, hey?
I think she is on the mend, seemed more herself today and her temp has been normal. She is finally sleeping out of my arms tonight... fingers crossed.
-
what has she got JB? like a tummy bug or something? poor chicken! it really does suck when they are sick! especially when you feel like you have to go it alone! so post away!
-
JB i hope Immy is feeling better.
All is going well here, K still wont have solids but i'm not to worried she's still b/fing often enough to keep her happy. She's trying to commando crawl & even getting onto all her 4 now. Can't believe she'll be crawling after her sister soon.
Times goes way too fast!
-
Immy is completely better. Was just a virus, 48hr bug thing. We went through a whole LARGE packet of wipes, you know those huggies ones in the snap lock packet... anyway! Fun, fun... still feeling a bit un-together haha
-
thats great JB!
i know what you mean mo. chelsea gets up on all 4s and rocks back n forth. she is moving forward more like a caterpillar at the moment than proper crawling.
we r going to my 10 yr reunion this weekend then to my parents for the week. cant wait to get some help with the day to day running of ther kids! :-)
-
JB - great to hear things are improving. Understand the feeling 'un together' in the aftermath! Need lots of rest to recover from those sort of episodes.
Mo and Hollo - Wow those bubs are nearly on the full-on move! Miss T rolls around but not up on all fours yet. Maybe having a little sibling is encouraging your girls to get up faster. With big brothers and extended family carrying Miss T around so much she neednt bother moving herself I suppose.
-
Hey everybody!
I have been reading but not posting much lately. Am flat out organising visas and packing up our entire house to put into storage whilst going to specialists and dentist appointments and trying to entertain and feed a baby. My parents are here for a week from tomorrow and I'm so looking forward to having a break and some help packing and cleaning (I know exactly where you're coming from Hollo :D)
-
SP I'm hoping Kodi doesn't crawl for awhile yet, It's hard enough chasing one kid lol
-
Hi everyone :hello:
Ive been MIA for what feels like forever....I really have no idea what Ive been doing, but Ive been busy doing it lol
I will read back thru and see how everyone is going.....but for the time being, I hope everyone and their bubbas are doing well :)
As for us....we have started seeing a physio cos the family nurse that visits noticed Josh has Left Torticulus (nothing serious, just needs excercises to strengthen the left side muscles) I started going back tot he nurse because the Dr's were really annoying me with the rush me in rush out attitude..plus the nurse will visit us at home which is great cos DH had a change around at work and now Im pretty much carless most days. At his last check Josh was up to 8.6kg and we have started on solids...well mainly just farex and some pureed fruits but he seems to be really enjoying it...not enjoying the nappies tho lol.
I did notice in some earlier posts some bubbas are working on their crawling!!! How exciting!!! So far Josh is just rolling heaps but has someone found reverse and will park himself inbetween lounges lol
Anyway I best go get dinner started...just wanted to pop in and say hi and hopefully I wont disappear as much now that we have more a routine sorted here :)
Hugs to you all :)
-
It has all gone a bit quiet in this forum. Is there anybody out there?
My best girlfriend had a baby boy on Tuesday. He is 9lb 2 1/2 oz but looks tiny to me. Dont they grow incredibly fast!
FF - sounds very hectic for you at the moment. Hope you get enough rest.
Hollo - how did your 10 year reunion go? I bet everyone was worried about looking heavier and I bet they all were! Were there any really surprising changes in people you saw. Did many of them have families now?
Phoenix - I hope she doesnt crawl until our music studio is finished and I can get all the audio equiptment out of my living areas!
