Just wanted to be the first to post in the new thread!!
Flynnsy has been a bit of a horror today. I can assume he is getting some more teeth but I can't really see any evidence of them aside from him being not himself.
    Take care everyone

    Hi gals,

I jumped on here yesterday morning to type the rest of my post, went to hit 'submit' and lost it all cos the website apparently went kaput. Meh.

Laura - Bah humbug about your crappy weekend ... sounds like you should have stayed under the doona. Seriously, when it rains it pours, huh. Hope your week has gone much better. Yay about your two births - how exciting for you!! Really glad to hear you're doing well too ... despite crappy weekends .

Macca - how exciting about trying for #2. We'd like to think we'll have another on the way about this time next year - probably won't even worry about trying till mid next year though. Glad to hear you're doing well with the weight loss ... good for you.

Hayley - how's Ari? Is he sleeping ok again now?

Luey - glad to hear E's appt went well. Wow, eight teeth! Geez, Cam's not showing any sign of teething yet. Just goes to show how different they all are, doesn't it.

Mel - How are you going?
CM - How are you doing? Feeling ok?

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Cam's learned how to clap his hands, that seems to be the 'big' achievement of the week. Oh, and he's been able to sit properly on his own for about the past week. I think he really enjoys viewing the world from a different perspective.

Other than that, it's all quiet on the western front! Catch you all later,
    Andie xx

    Hello

Hi. Just wanted to say hello. I have just found this website and love it. Posted in the babies section and a few mums suggested I join this forum....

My name is Julia and my bub is William. He was born on March 19 - induced labour - 1 week late.

I have had all year off work - well since February! Gotta go back next year though - Argh! But only part time - 5 days a fortnight.

Will is my beautiful boy! He is nearly 9kg, sitting, pulling to stand, walking holding onto my hands but no crawling. He waves and talks (babbles) constantly!

Would love to join your discussions....Talk soon

Welcome to the thread Julia! You'll love it in here Another boy!!! I think there are only 2 girls in here aren't there??? (Sorry if there's more I have baby AND preggo brain!!!)
I'm feeling ok Andie, thanks for asking. I'm getting pretty tired I have these awful waves of nausea, but no chucking thankfully. I nearly lost it this morning changing an up the back pooey nappy...eww. Double eww in fact.
I'm so addicted to FB too I often have 2 tabs open at once: one with BB and one with FB, sometimes a 3rd with hotmail, but that is a bit rare. DH always tells me off for having so much stuff open (I think he's just jealous that he can't concentrate on as much stuff a I can!!!)
My brain is turning to to mush...We had rice for dinner last night and I put everything in the rice cooker and didn't turn it on. I didn't realise until I went to check and see how ready it was and discovered that it was nowhere near ready...sigh...I did the same thing with the kettle...oh dear!
    better go
    take care

    Hi all,

CM - rice drama at your house too huh? DH and I had a mini-barney tonight cos he went and stirred the rice ... which I was trying to cook via the absorption method Boy, did he cop a serve (... and I don't mean a serve of rice). It was just "one of those nights" . Glad to hear you're doing ok, despite icky nappies.

Julia - welcome to our thread. CM's right ... of those of us who post in here there's probably 10-12 baby boys and 2 baby girls. We're all trying to arrange a marriage for our sons to one of the two lucky ladies as it appears there'll be a girl drought in about 20-odd years! Think you'll find we're all a friendly and supportive bunch.

Nina - huge congrats on your wedding! Must admit, I had a sneak peek at your FB pix and you looked beautiful. Looks like you, your hubby and Cohen had a wonderful day. Congrats again. Little Cohen is doing well - 11kg! He'll be sitting up by himself soon, Cam was on the cusp of doing it for about 2 weeks, then one day last week he sat by himself for ages ... and he hasn't looked back.

Anyway, for the benefit of the new thread here's Cam's vital statistics:
Weight: 8.6kg; Height: 72.5cm; Teeth: Nil. Solids: b'fast, lunch and dinner. Breastfeeding approx 4/5 x per day. Capable of: Sitting on his own, but still not crawling etc. Sleep: Approx 8pm-6am right through, although sometimes semi-wakes once or twice to whinge a bit (generally fixed by replacing dummy and turning on his lullaby lamp thing-a-me). He's generally a happy, placid little fella who gets the giggles easily. Oh, and he's mega-ticklish!

I return to work part time at the end of March, so Cammie is off to day care 3 days a week. To be honest, I hate (really HATE ) the thought of going down this path - I would much, much rather be home with him. Unfortunately we really need the extra income, particularly as we're hoping to have bub #2 in the next 18 months. Part-time was the "best of both worlds" compromise. Think I'm gonna find it very hard when the time comes. Anyhoo - enough of the "Andie feeling sorry for herself" whine. I've still got four months to go.

Hope everyone is doing well. Catch you all later.

Just wanted advice from Mum's on what your routine looks like these days. At the minute bubs still has 5 BF per day - 6am, 10am, 1.30pm, 4.30 and 7pm. But am returning to work in January and need to reduce BF (as he won't take bottle).

    Current routine:
    6.30am Wake and BF
    7.30am Bkfast
    8.30-9am Sleep
    10am Wake and BF
    11-11.30 Lunch
    12.30-1 Sleep
    2 Wake and BF
    4 Nap
    4.30 BF
    5.30 Dinner
    6 Bath
    6.30 BF
    7 - 7.30 Sleep

But want to change this routine to less BF - he still needs the three sleeps per day as well. Have read BabyLove, been on Babybliss and Tresillian websites and was thinking of a routine that looks like this - but not sure about BFs.

    6.30am Wake and BF
    7.30am Bkfast
    8.30-9 Sleep
    10am Wake and Snack
11-11.30 Lunch (should I BF here?)
    12.30-1 Sleep
2 Wake and (BF or snack??)
    Nap and up by 4.30pm
5pm Dinner (bring dinner forward as no BF??)
    Bath
    BF
    Bed

What do you do?? Any suggestions or thoughts??

    Really appreciate your advice

Nina - congrats on your wedding DH and I celebrated 5 years of marriage yesterday and I still remember the reception as the best party I have ever been to.

Julia - Welcome. I am Hayley, mum of 4 (aged, 6, 4, 2.5 and 8mths). My March08 baby is Ari James. He is crawling, pulling to stand and starting to try to walk around the furniture. He is breastfed on demand and eats some family foods. He is 9.2kg (bare) and 72cms tall. He doesn't really sleep all that well but we are down to 1 feed a night now (about midnight) and then he stays in bed with me and feeds at 5-6am , then back to sleep till the kdis drag us out of bed.

I don't do routines so no help on that front. I do know though that breast milk is a very important part of babies diet and should make up at least 50% of their food intake 6-12mths and then about 30% from 1-2years. So just be careful that bub is still getting what he needs from you . WHO | Breastfeeding

OK - CM pmsl , would of been some crunchy rice. I made muffins and instead of adding 400mls I added 4 cups of water. I think its called mummy brain.

Julia - Welcome to the thread, my son is also called Will (William). He is one of 3 Wills who all live within 200m of each other and are all close in age. Will must be one of the popular names for 08 I think .

Andie - It is only natural to feel apprehensive about going back to work. It is a big transition to make. I hope everything works out ok for both you and Cam.

Catherine - Sorry to hear your getting the nausea, hope it settles down for you soon. Are you noticing many differences between this pregnancy and your last?

Rusty - Reading about Cohen is like reading about Will. He is on a similar feeding pattern and is in 0's and 1's. He is now about 10 kg and 76 cm long. I am starting to wonder just how big he is going to get.

Well Will is chugging on ok. He had a virus a week ago, got over it and now has a rotten cold. Poor thing has been really off but is still able to smile and giggle. My heart just melts when he looks at me with a cheeky grin, red eyes, a runny nose and pick cheeks. I just want to est him up. He is also starting to move more. He has decided crawling is too much hassle so he commando crawls instead (on his stomach, using his arms and legs to move forward). I have spent this weekend baby proofing the house. this afternoon we are shopping for a gate to keep him out of the kitchen.

So now it is all about getting ready for the relly run to Perth for Christmas.

    Hidee hi campers!

    Hey there!
We belong in here- just. Ollie (DS#2) was born March 17th, induced 8 days early because of no am fluid. He weights 9kg and is 72cm tall. He has half a tooth and not really into food yet, doesnt really like a bottle to drink from but will take as much BM as he can get. Hes been crawling since he was 5mths, sitting since he was 6mths and now walks round his play pen holding on to the side and throwing all the toys out for his older brother (2.5yrs) to throw back. Ollie loves music and will "dance" any time there is music.
Nice to meet y'all and look forward to reading about your bundles of joy

Been super slack of late & haven't been here for awhile & there is a bit to catch up on but wanted to say a few things...

Congragulations CM on the baby news I have thought about going for number 2 but as my sister is getting married I don't want to be pregnant or have a newborn at the time of her wedding

Congrats Nina on your wedding, you looked beautiful, loved all the piccies.

Just wanted to mum2willie & doubletrouble to the thread.
mum2willie, we don't have a routine in time terms but have a certain pattern to the day IYKWIM? I have read that bubs won't always take bottles from mum cause they know the 'real' stuff is there, is it possible that someone else could try bottlefeeding him some EBM for some of the feeds? are you wanting to change his routine or cut out some of the day b/f while you are at work? are you working fulltime/partime cause I know some b/f babies hold out until mum gets there for a drink by not drinking much (which is managable if you are working either partime or a few hours a day but not ideal if you are returning fulltime) & making up for it at night, are you wanting to avoid that too? have you tried a sippy cup? we have tried the fancy 'no-drip' ones but he is a bit confused with those, we finally found an old fashioned cup like I had back in the day that was so much cheaper in the camping section in coles & he drinks water from that, sorry so many questions but hoping to nut something out that would be suitable for you.

Well really need to get to bed, will be back later

Welcome doubletrouble. Ollie sounds like a lot of fun!

Nic, nice avatar, what a babe! Haha, my brother is getting married at the end of November so that gives me a bit of time to get myself looking semi respectable!

    Your pics are amazing Nina!

Lol Hayley how did you resurrect the muffins?

Macca this pg I am very nauseous all the time. With Flynn it was only when I was hungry. That's really the main difference.

Julia I don't run by the clock by any means, but our day looks a bit like this if we are home.

Wake up usually around 7.30 -8 (if he is up before 6 - 6.30 I usually resettle him), bottle (approx 150ml) followed by weet bix shortly after.
    Play time
A nap (at least 1.5 hrs) about 2hrs after wake up.
A snack (fruit or some rice rusks) and some water
OR lunch depending on the time (lunch is usually a sandwich followed by a
    bottle (again ~150ml))
    Play time
Another 1.5 hrs nap approx 2hrs after being awake
    play time
Afternoon snack (fruit and yogurt) and water
    playtime
(maybe a nap if he 'out of it')
    Dinner
    Bath
    (sometimes a small play)
    Bottle
    Bed

I usually make 200ml bottles for him but he generally only drinks 150ml. He does take water easiest out of a bottle, he has a no spill cup but when he works it he gets a big gush and then ends up spilling most of it out his mouth! He does drink from just an ordinary cup too but he has the same problem as the no spill cup. He might have another bottle at around 10 if he has had a bad day (that is hardly any milk or water, he takes more when he is 'asleep'). I think if I were you I'd try and drop the 10 and 4.30 feeds (tho probably just one to start with) and give a snack and water instead. (Flynn prefers water that is room temp or lukewarm)
Don't know how much that helps. Good luck.

    I think that's everyone!

    Take care

Welcome Double Trouble and mum2 willie.

How long are you in china for double trouble and are you from Australia originally.

Julia - we have just started a new 'routine' but it is now starting about 640 then first sleep about 9ish. Next one around 2. In bed around 730. MEals and plays interspersed. Bf is usually just after he wakes. I try to top him up before a sleep but most often he doesn't want anything.

My son 'E', I don't use his full name on the forum plus I am lazy. He is about 9kg over 72cm tall. He also has 8 teeth.

    Hi to everyone else

E is now combat crawling. Started yesterday at 8 months. He is into everything. He loves power cords and drawers. I so need to child proof.

    HAve great night

    hi girls

I have been slack again. I always have the best intentions and never get there. See my new avvy too?? It was done super quick, I only sent a request for it this morning! Nic I luuuurve yours!

to Julia and doubletrouble. Nice to have you with us. We used to be a fast moving thread but we all seem to be busy these days....I have no idea why..... As you can probably see in my sig, I am Mum of 3. Jake is my March 08 baby. Not too sure on current stats but I estimate he's around 7.5kg and maybe 68cm. He's the only one of my children to be BF and in cloth nappies. If you want to get a bit more info on me my blog is here, although I've also been slack updating that. Most of us are on Facebook too so if you are interested let us know and we'd all love to add you I'm sure

Well Jake never slept through again didn't expect it though. He's been so great lately, such a busy little man he is always off exploring and seeing what else he can reach and get into. The last couple of days he's added standing alone to his bag of tricks, but only lasts a couple of seconds. He's also stated clapping the last week or so....so cute when he gives himself a clap cos he's done something he's proud of Like his poo escapade the other day......ewww!!! Anybody see that on my blog?? Be warned it may be TMI, especially for your delicate tummy catherine!

Catherine how are you coping with the m/s and Flynn? the nappies are the nastiest part for sure. I also remember finding it hard to feed Ben his mushed veggies (he was around 5/6 months when I was in the throes of m/s) cos they made me wanna gag! Having m/s all day isn't easy either, it's downright depressing really. Have you found anything you can manage to get down?? There's usually at least one thing you can take to.

Macca i'm glad Will is feeling better. How are you doing with your mush?

Julia, was reading over your routine and wanting to reduce BF and was wondering are you still going to BF when you are back at work or are you wanting to wean him? If he won't take a bottle will he take a sippy cup or something?

Andie, I can understand your feelings on going back to work. Especially when you feel the decision is out of your hands. It's ok if it's what you want but when you can't decide for yourself it can be hard to come to terms with. TBH Cam isn't going to suffer from going to daycare, and at that age he will probably really enjoy the interactions with others. you are still providing for him just in a more material way yk? It is my belief (I know others don't feel the same) that kids really benefit from time away from parents early on, it teaches them so much independence and best of all they learn you will always come back to them. And that look they get when you walk into the room and the cuddles you get will be some of the best in your life.

Nina, I haven't had a chance to go through all your professional pics yet but they look amazing! you've had such an exciting time this year!!

Luey, how are those teeth going? lol Yay E on the crawling, and yes, child proofing!!!

Hi Mel!! How's James doing? Growing so much! And how's your ankle, i forget to ask!

Hayley, I still have something here to post, just too lazy to go to the PO! Will do it soon for you though. How's the sewing going?

I KNOW I've missed someone...darn it! I give up Reenie, no reply to all my shoutouts :P

All is going really well here, DH and I are great at the moment, and the effects are flowing into other areas of our relationship too . Having a second look at the first house we looked at in this new area on the weekend. Expect we will make an offer on it. We need to get moving cos Ben starts Kinder next year so by the time we sign any contract and wait out settlement and move we will be cutting it fine to be settled before then.

    Cool Roller coaster

I was born in NZ but have spent my life between NZ and AU, My sister and dad live in Brissy. Met my DH in NZ while he was there studing IT, after he graduated he wanted to go home to China for 5 years (or so) So here we are in China- I had Ollie here but we are getting him NZ citizenship as we speak. Chinese passport in useless and china doesnt allow dual citizenship. As is tradition, we are living with DH's parents- we share no language, so that has made for an intersting 18mths and everyday MIL and I have disagreements and mis-communications , but its getting better.
Ollie has been BFd I have a bad case of PID and the medication I am on at the moment means I cant feed him. NOT a happy boy. Think hes on a hunger strike.Wont take more then 100mls at a time and thats a mission to get him to do. Nights are the hardest, he wakes up and wants to suckle, cant so just crys and crys and crys, poor wee love. 3 more days of this drug, then 24 hours of water flushing and I can breast feed and then- if I have milk left I can feed him again

My sis says its getting hot and sticky. We are getting cold here. We live 2 hours north west of Shanghai so its not as cold as the north current temps about 3C-15C, mum lives in Beijing, her expected high tomorrow is -16! lucky they have central heating! We dont get a white christmas, but we do get a white chinese new year- its the same as christmas for us really, but with heaps of amazing fireworks everywhere.

Im taking my time to read this thread, so not up with the play yet, will get more involved soon I hope.
