    Hi all,

Mel - Happy belated birthday for James - I'm so sorry I'm late in my well wishes . Things have been pretty mad here the past few days, but no excuses. Hope James had a good birthday, and will have a terrific party on Sunday. How's he going with his latest teething efforts? And how has Emily been lately?

Jo - How is Riley feeling ... did he end up getting a shiner? Poor little fella. Hope all's well with Isabella.

Bec - That's no good about your house. about that and also your DH's work situation - a real sign of the times, unfortunately, isn't it. Not that that's any consolation. Here's hoping you can stay where you are and your DH can get his apprenticeship signed off. We bought Cam a tonka truck walker/ride-on thingame. Hopefully he'll get use out of it (and enjoy playing with it) for a few months or longer ...

Nic - Soooo true re: us 12 months ago. This time last year (as in Friday 14th, 08) I'd done a mega day's housework and was totally pooped by 7.30pm. If only I'd known my waters would break just 24 hours later ...

We've got Cam's birthday party tomorrow. DH and I decided on a sausage sizzle, but naturally I ended up making zucchini slice and sausage rolls, plus an assortment of finger-food sweet-type things. I say "naturally" cos DH reckons I always go "above and beyond" what I originally say I'm going to do. Irritates him no end, at times . I'm making a fish for his birthday cake - it'll be chocolate butter cake with blue icing (which could prove an interesting flavour combo .... maybe). Will email round some pix by week's end.

It was a good idea pulling up our baby list Bec, but it makes me wonder where all our buddies have gone. I'm sure I put deodorant on this morning! If any absent buddies are reading this, come back and say hello, let us know how you and your bubbas are going! Even if it's a three-line post ... we'd love to hear from you .

Happy birthday to all our little piscean and aries rats! Like me, you fellow mums probably find it hard to believe how fast our beautiful, tiny newborns have turned into beautiful and mobile little boys and girls. Sigh ....

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON AND ARI
I hope that you had a great birthday.
Riley ended up with a nice shiner and the cut is looking much better. There will be little or no scarring which is good.
Will pop in later with a update on Isabella. We are off the ENT Specialist now for Riley ears
    Take care

    Hi guys,

Thanks for Cam's birthday wishes - my precious boy is currently sleeping, although I expect he'll wake shortly. So I'll try and be quick.

Hayley - to Ari! Hope your party went well at the weekend and the boys enjoyed themselves with the jumping castle.

Mel - Glad to hear James' party was good, and I so hear you about being exhausted! I think we might do a party every second year (or so ...)

Bec - Nope ... I cannot believe that exactly 12 months ago I was looking at my precious newborn and thinking 'gee I'd like to hold him ...' and then realising that he was actually mine and I could cuddle him/pick him up and time of the day I wanted. Whoopee! Dunno if that makes sense, but I just remember that for a few hours after Cam was born I had this bizarre feeling that I should have been asking permission to pick him up and hold him. Weird. Thankfully that "feeling" wore off quickly. And now, I get cuddles constantly - my little man is huge cuddler, and I love it!!

Jo - good luck with Riley's appt - glad to hear his cut is getting better, and I imagine his shiner will fade pretty quickly.

Well, Cam's b'day party went well - we had a dozen adults and about 6 kids. I organised a freddo frog treasure hunt for those kids old enough, and it was a hit, but otherwise they amused themselves on the swing set etc. We had a sausage sizzle, plus some other finger foods.

My fish b'day cake didn't go to plan. About two hours before the party was due to start, and I was in the midst of decorating the cake, I discovered I'd bought a bag of yellow-only M&Ms. Why didn't some one tell me they are now sold in single colours (although DH was happy to point out that its been advertised on telly in the last few weeks ) Thank God I hadn't cut the cake into a fish shape before I'd made my discovery! It may sound silly, but I'd done a trial run a couple of weeks ago and the different coloured M&Ms are necessary to give the fish its colour and its scales ... I thought a yellow-only fish would look crapola. Needless to say, I chucked a brief hissy fit, got over myself and decorated the rectangular cake in blue butter icing, with a big 1 in yellow M&Ms, plus a few lollies round it. I'll post pix shortly (... and I'll put a pic up of my trial fish cake to show you what I was supposed to do!) Oh, and I'm not anal enough to do a trial cake for the heck of it, some of our family was here a couple of weeks ago, so we had a mini b'day party for Cam then.

Otherwise, today is pretty much business as normal. Or will be till daddy gets home. Then Cam can open his gifts etc. I'm cooking roast pork for dinner.

Cam starts daycare tomorrow, but I've got a birthday treat for him first. Rags (as in the talking/singing life-size dog characters on TV) are coming to our local shopping centre and Cam likes to watch them sing on TV. So I'm taking him to meet Rags in the morning, then get him weighed/measured for the last time. Then off to childcare in time for lunch. Wish me luck - I took him twice for an hour last week and he seemed happy enough. He took off (crawling) outdoors the minute I put him on the ground, and his carers reckon it was a good sign that he didn't cling to me etc ... I can't believe my year at home with my boy is almost over. I have absolutely loved every minute of it. I'm hoping to have another baby in the next 12-18 months, and I can only hope no.2 is as easy as Cam has been. Having said that, my darling boy could turn into a horror head over the next 12 months as he learns to walk/talk and gain his independence. Here's keeping my fingers crossed he stays placid, happy and adaptable

I'd better go tidy up while Cam's still asleep.

    Catch you all again later,
    Andie xx

    Happy birthday CAM AND ARI
    (sorry it's a bit late)

Good luck tomorrow Andie with daycare, hope it goes well and I'm sure he will love Rags. D is such a TV head if it's on especially if there is some singing and dancing, it's quite funny actually if you get in his road he either tries to push you out of the way or looks around you.

Well that's all for me, need to head to bed, have work tomorrow.
