Babies Born March 2006 #8

Hi everyone,

I'm beginning to think i have too much time on my hands..lol well either that or i'm addicted to bb. I feel as though every spare second i get i am sat here in front of the computor.
Well WOOHOO i finished up work today and boy does it feel good. Everyone was really lovely, they put on a morning tea and i got some lovely baby things and flowers etc for myself. Its nice to feel like i am going to be missed.
Dont know whats been wrong with me lately but i feel as though all i'm doing is nesting...WTF i'm only 30wks. I had a big urge to pack my hosy bag yesterday so now that is done. I've also cleaned out both bathrms and the laundry linen cupboard. Mia's new room is all finished and she has settled in. Last night i half heartedly said to her as i was geting ready to put her to bed "does mia want to go nan-nighs in her new big girls room" to this she went into the nursery and got her doggy (stuffed toy), her blankie and pulled the cot quilt out and walked back into her new room stood next to the bed and said "up, tar". My heart melted i was so proud of my little girl acting so grown up. She was asleep within 15minutes and didn't stir until 7.15 this morning. DH had trouble putting her down for her day sleep in it today and ended up putting her in her cot but i wonder if he REALLY tried ;) tonight i had no problems again she went down 1st time. I am amazed at how well she is doing (i hope she will keep it up) i was expecting to have lots of problems with the transition. Tomo i am going with my dad to get some material so he can make some curtains for the room as i also suspect this could be part of the prob with the day sleeps..the nursery was alot darker. I am looking forward to been home more with her as i feel that even working the 20hrs i was missing out on so much. DH would get up and see to her most mornings as i did 4 x 6am starts and then he'd feel guilty and let me sleep in 1 or 2 days a wk so i very rarely go to see her 1st thing in the morning. By the time i either cme home or drag myself out of bed she is normally fed, dressed and off playing. I hope it doesnt go to the other extreme though where i am the one doing everything i think its really important that DH still has his time alone with her. Do all of your partners help out much? i have friends who think that DH does a little too much but i think its fair as she is both of our responsibility and up until now i have worked since she was 5months old.
Well we have a funeral to attend tomorrow and i must say i am not overly looking forward to it. I barely know the man but he is my DH's best mates Grandfather. DH was very close to him in his teens and really wants my support tomo as he has been quite upset by his passing. :(
Sorry no personals today but i hope all of you are well and kas i hope your colds getting better it is never ending at the moment with them ( well in our house.)

Happy news from me today, DS1 HAS FINALLY DECIDED TO TOILET TRAIN!
It is so fantastic, I have been praying for it to happen and all of a sudden he has decided that he can go to the toilet by himself anf do everything in there. he is 4 so he should have been well and truly TT by now but I think he was just being a bit lazy. He just needs to learn to use a little less paper, he overflowed the toilet last night, water was everywhere, through 4 rooms and the hallway, lucky it is all lino. Tony was out at the time so I called him up to help me clean it all up, It wasn't so much the water on the floor; it was DS3 playing in it, he layed down in it and then he ran into the toilet and played in the water in there. I was very busy with the dettol last night. It has been a week since DS1 had an accident, we haven't even had a wet accident. He has been sleeping through without wetting the bed for a long time now but he would always wet/dirty his pants during the day. I am so happy not to have to wash dirty pants out! Hopefully he doesn't decide to revert to old habits, but I would say if it has been a week that he is well and truly TT, what do you all think? Just in time for me to start TT DS2, he will be 3 in Feb so I think it a good time.
Sorry for no personals but I hope all is well with all mums and bubs and little bellybabies. Will do some personals next time.

Well i have great news as well. I have lost a heap of weight and i am looking like a HOT mumma i have lost 17.5cm in total and a dress size in 4 weeks. I am now going to the gym at 6.00am for my workout and sauna aftrewards and it is the best thing i have done in a long time It gives me ME time Yippee!!! I am so happy about it. I am also getting a travel pass for when we go to Perth for Hols so i can use the gym over there Bonus!!! Ok enough of weight loss next subject. lOL

My life has been so hectic we have made so many new friends up here since moving from Perth and our house seems to be the watering hole and entertainment house most weeks and weekends so i have been flat out cooking, entertaining and god no's what else but i love it to bits. Tomorrow i am going with a girlfriend to feed the ducks down the road with my two girls it is actually Tyaneesha's boyfriend that we are meeting up with Hee hee. I hope to get some awesome pics so i can post on facebook it is so cute.

My other bubba Shayla 3mths nearly is just so cute and adorable i can not believe how lucky we still are in the she is on the same routine as Tayneesha and sleeps all night is too good to be true and she constantly smiles and chuckles and goos and gahhs it is so wonderful.

Been very quiet in here this last week....Is everyone ok? I hope you are all just busy with running around after 18 month olds. I have sat down on more than one occasion to post this week only to have Mia wake up or DH need me or whatever......as soon as i sit at the computor i'm needed elsewhere.

Are you girls having or had your bubs 18 month chicken pox jabs done?? Mia is booked in for hers on Fri so i'm just curious to see how they coped. Mia went really well with all of her others but i have heard chicken pox can make them feel more off, I dont know if that is true so pls correct me if i'm wrong.

Well we have had a shocking long weekend as yet again Mia has been unwell. Not the usual cold though this time. She was 100% when i put her to bed on thur's night but when she got up Fri she sounded like she had a wheeze. By the time she got up from her lunch nap she was fighting to breathe and her lips where turning blue.....very scary. I rushed her to my local where she was seen to on arrival and put on a nebuliser and then given a dose of steroids. She perked up and was ok within an hour though still had the wheeze. They werent sure wether to keep her in for obs or to let her come home. Eventually we came home with steroids, antibiotics, ventalin etc and a nice $80 chemist bill (she is worth every cent but still hefty) and of course with me feeling very anxious of how she'd go through the night. She didnt go overly well we were up for 90% of it and living of the ventalin. By Sat arvo though it was as if there had been nothing wrong with her. I have her booked in with my GP this week to have her checked out again. I really hope she isnt asthmatic and allergy prone as i am and its not nice. We already know she has an egg allergy. The hosp thought this was an allergic reaction but i have no idea what would have triggered it.

jimsteph- congrats on your DS1 and the TT at least i will have someone to ask advice from when the time comes. It amazes me how many ppl think Mia should be starting just cos i have no 2 on the way

mum2cheekygirl- you sound ike your doing really well with the weight loss if we do meet up for a cuppa when u come to perth i will definately feel like a whale..lol. I wish i had some of your enthusiasm for the gym etc. I am hoping that after bub arrives i will be motivated with it been summer and been too hot to cover up! Shayla sounds like and angel bub i hope i am as blessed this time around i cetainly was with Mia, ppl use to tell me i didnt know i had a baby she slept through from a ridiculously young age too.

Hope you are all doing well, sorry I have been so slack with posting.

Nat - doesn't sound like you're getting much of a rest even though you don't have to worry about work now! Not long to go now, are you getting excited about the new bub yet? Mia's illness sounds very scary, I certainly hope for her sake (and for yours) it isn't something that's going to recur. I hope she's better now and you're getting over the scare.

Jen - congrats on the weight loss, what a great effort! Shayla looks like such a cutie. How is Tayneesha getting along now she knows her baby sister is definitely here to stay?

Steph - Woohoo on DS1 toilet training!! I have heard that when they're a bit older it doesn't take very long for them to get the hang of it. I don't think we'll be doing it soon, although when I went in to Lucy after her nap the other day she did say to me "poo" when I opened the door, and sure enough, she needed to be changed. But that's the only time she's shown that she has any idea of what might be going on.

As for us, I broke my foot slipping on steps in our backyard a week ago and I'm now hobbling around in this huge, hot and uncomfortable walking boot for a month. But it's much better than the crutches, which I ditched after a day. There is no way you can be on crutches and have a toddler. Lucy had a wonderful time down at the hospital while I got attended to.

Had plenty of work on, so I've been busy. Lucy is saying heaps of words now and will repeat a lot of things I say to her. She's started asking for things she wants and I'm getting a lot less whingeing as a result. I can't believe how fast she's growing up. She's started giving kisses to her friends (too cute). She's also playing and using her imagination, crawling along the floor and saying 'woof' pretending to be a dog, tucking her dolly into her pram and saying 'shhh', things like that.

Hi Girls,

Well what a week i have had another full on week thats for sure. We have been helping some friends move house etc and minding the kids and all of that. I cooked them dinner a few times at night as well so that they didn't have to worry about it. This weekend DH and i are having a few hours to ourselves our friends are minding the kids. We are actually going to look at house designs and get ideas for the new house we are building. DH being a carpenter you can just imagine all the ideas he has, this house is not going to be cheap thats for sure! Oh well it is better to have the house that you want and spend the extra bucks to make it that extra special :rolleyes:.

Nat - Mia you poor little darling and Nat my god are you ok? What a fright you must of had thankgod the baby didn't come early! Lol. I hope Mia is A ok now and for a long time to come yet.
oh no don't ever feel like a whale. I will PM you personally to book a time and day to meet for coffee etc i Will be staying in Karrinyup Mum and Dads house when we are back in Perth. Yes shayla is a dream baby we are so very very fortunate and i can not say i don't get eniugh sleep thats for sure. I am still in shock mode in that she does not cry she just goohs and garrs and smiles constantly as well as chuckling and giggling all the time. It is so cute and for the sleep well she sleeps all night it is now 8.30 till 7.00/8.00am in the morning loves her sleep thats for sure. I'm sending you some luck vibes Nat so that your little one will be just like Shayla it has made our life bliss to be honest :dance: Miss T had her Pox jab not too long ago and she was fine no problem at all hardly screamed and was back at daycare the next day she had no reaction at all so fingers crossed all others don't have any nasty time with it!

jen - Oh my god are you ok! You poor thing that must be so hard for you hobbling around like that. If i lived near you i would be helping you and cooking you dinners and those little things mates do to help. I hope you do have someone near by to help etc! Oh Yes Miss T wants Shayla to be crawling and playing already she gives huge kisses all the time to her and hugs it is so cute to watch and when she does it Shayla does this huge grin from ear to ear and chuckles. I am so in love with motherhood at the moment that maybe another will be coming soon? Still deciding......
How cute of Lucy and her words and pretend play they are so funny aren't they I got a picture from Daycare of Miss T and her boyfriend and they are cuddling each other on there bed together ready to go to sleep so cute!! I will try to scan and post on facebook for you jen and anyone else. Lucy and Miss T sound like they are similar in milestones thats for sure.

Well not much else to really tell you our business is going crazy and work is flowing in which is just great! Builders want DH and roof plumbers you name it they want him so he can charge whatever hourly rate he wants which is not cheap i can assure you but they still want him! He even over quotes mega bucks as he does not want the job as too busy but they still want him for god sakes so people are waiting in line till next year now. Yippee for me i can spend up big on Holidays Hee hee he. :dance:

JENNIFER13-oh you poor thing how you coping hobbling around?? believe me i know how you are feeling i tore ligaments in my ankle when Mia was 7 months old and was crawling. That was hard enough but an 18-19 month old. At least you have a walking boot and could ditch the crutches. i was meant to be on them for 4 weeks and lasted for 7-10 days and my ankle still isnt right but it was jsut too hard.

mum2cheekygirl-so glad to hear that business is going well. My DH works for himself so i know what it can be like. We are doing really well at the moment too which is great but i miss having him around so much. When i was working he'd take time off to look after Mia so it felt like we saw each other alot more.

Well i dont know why but this last week it's like someone has taken my Angel Mia and replaced her with a monkey with an attitude problem. She is just so independent and wont let me do anything for her. Even getting dressed is a battle. Anyone else going through the same thing. I dont know if its cos in the last week she has started feeding herself etc and she is in a big bed and i keep telling her she's such a big girl. She just has grown up so much in the last month and her speech is really developing so it like she has all of a sudden decided that its her way or no way!!

Thanks for the well wishes, I'm doing much better on the foot now. I can walk around okay at home and only need to use the boot out for another week. Lucy knows I have a sore foot and bends down and touches it very gently saying 'sore'. Too cute! Jen, I wish you lived near me!! I think I'd need to be a lot more injured to get that kind of treatment around here normally! Tayneesha sounds so cute with her little sister.

Nat, hope you're doing okay, not long to go now. Are you managing to relax and take it easy sometimes? Like Mia Lucy is talking a lot more now. She will repeat just about every word I say to her and asks for things by name, like 'drink', 'na-na', says 'please' if you ask her 'what do you say?' when she wants something (yay!!! I have been trying so hard for good manners, now we just have to get 'thank you' going). She plays with so much imagination now, it's very cute to watch. Oh and she knows what it means to pee now, she did it before I could dress her after her bath the other night (on the floor, but never mind) and we kept saying to her 'Lucy you did a pee' and she was very interested! So now I ask her if she wants to pee and put her on the potty. Nothing's actually happened on the potty yet, but at least she finally knows what I mean. I just have to fluke it for her to be excited about peeing on the potty! She tells me when she has done a 'poo' in her nappy (always when she's napping, so I've got no idea how we'll TT for this!) or shakes her head, no, if I ask her and she hasn't done one.

Must get back to work. Like your DHs and you Jen I work for myself and am really busy at the moment. So looking forward to Xmas and a break!

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone else's toddler has had Slapped Cheek? I have been putting Mia's extrememly red cheeks down to teething but they do look like she has been slapped. Today she has been grumpy and has had a slight temp of 38.3. As usual cant get into the Dr's to be certain so will check how she is tomo and if no change i will take her in. I visited my sister today who is a nurse and she mentioned the slappped cheek virus which is why i am now thinking this may be the case. I have also read it can be dangerous in pg?? I have looked it up quickly but nothing seems to relate to the 3rd trimester. I'm basically just after some advice.

On a diff subject i had an antenatal appt this week and i will be having a CS again so there goes my VBAC. Its not really what i wanted but going on medical advice etc the decision was mine at the end of the day, i have a blood clotting disorder they are worried about along with all the probs i had having Mia. Anyway long story short i am having this bub on the 13/11 so a little over 3 weeks.

Jen13 it is so cute this age isnt it. Mia cracks me up all the time. i would love to know what goes through her head etc as i'm sure their imaginations are overactive, lol. Mia says Ta all the time and i have been working on please and thankyou she will occasionally parrot them but wont jsut say them. No is her all time favourite word at the moment which is beggining to get on my nerves as she says it even when she means yes!! Her favourite thing to play is her Goodbye game where she gets keys, a hand bag play phone and sunnies and says goodbye, cya, luv u and then tries to unlock the doors to leave.

I have a spare 5 minutes.....finally as Liam is asleep and my cleaning for the day has ended.

We have all been well. Liam is slowing getting more teeth. He now has top 4 and bottom front 3 and a molar top and bottom on his left side. He is saying more words. Still only has a handful or so he says without guidance. The problem is he sometimes chooses the wrong time to say them. For example: i was leaving my neigbours today and he had not long finished saying all off his appropriate words for her and i told him to say "bye bye" instead he pointed to his nappy and said "doodle" . So cute and so funny!!! Eventually he said "bye bye" whilst waving but i had to acknowledge and praise his "doodle" first :rolleyes:. His booba feeds will be over soon i think. I am getting a bit over it and he would probably be fine without it as sometimes when i go out he will fall asleep and i wake him to feed when i return. I just want to enjoy and remember the last time as it won't ever happen again :(, and it will also mean i will have face the fact my baby is no longer as he really is now more of a little boy.

Bradley has settled back into school. I can't believe he is in his last term of kindergarten already! We had the school fete today which he enjoyed. And it was nice for the kids and mums to catch up outside of the norm as well.

The house is coming along. DH and my bro started building our front reatining wall last week, so we are getting closer the having a fence and grass and our dog back. He would really like to have it all done by the end of his holidays in a months time which he starts next week so :crossfingers: it will all be done for bradley's birthday or at the latest in time for christmas as we are hosting for both families this year.

Nat: both my boys has slap cheek a few months ago. Apparently it is only dangerous to pg women in the first trimester. I made sure because at the time Brad's teacher was pg but thankfully in her 2nd tri. I think from memory i posted the signs and symptons in my post if you want to go back and look for it.

Jen13: OMG about your foot. By the sounds of it you have managed very well. I take my hat off to you. I trust you are well on the way to a full recovery.

Jen: I am so happy for you with your weight loss. It must feel great. And on top of all that making a whole new network of friends. Yo go girl!

Steph - i hope the toilet training is still heading in the right direction. You must be thrilled. Liam today decided to stand in front of the toilet and lift is shirt like Brad does when he goes. i may have to keep an eye on his interest for future TT.

OK, thats all from me. Just realised the time amd i need to get ready to drop the kids at my oarents as we are going out for dinner for one of our friends sisters 18th. It will be lovely just to enjoy a meal without interuptions or having to share it!!!

hi there everyone, im just curious as to how much your little ones talk/how many words they can say?my son was born 23 march and does have quite a few words but whats considered 'normal' for this age group?

Welcome to our group! I'm not sure what is considered normal for our toddlers in regards to words, but Lucy can say a lot of words, basically repeats the last word I say a lot, knows her name, can name a lot of objects, some people. But at her MCHN check up last week the milestone from memory was 10 words. I think they classify that outside of Mum and Dad as well. Didn't pay enough attention, since I just skimmed through all the milestones. I don't think they're necessarily the best guide of whether your child is developing normally, since there's such a braod range. But it sounds like your son would fit into the 'normal' category.

Good to have a new person in our group, looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi kas - missed your post!! PMSL at Liam and his 'doodle'. Lucy had another bath with her little boyfriend Hunter the other day and it was the first time she's 'noticed' he had something different. She was very interested and he helped show her what it was there for by peeing in the bath!

Sounds like the house is going well. It must be sad to be seeing the end of your bfing days. Lucy is still having three a day, but they are getting somewhat shorter (except for the morning one). I don't think she'll be stopping any time soon, but I'm guessing the middle of the day one will probably be ditched before she goes to kindy next year. Or once she goes. She does fine if I'm gone for the day and she's with her godmother, just has an extra feed when I get back.

Well, Lucy has well and truly powered ahead with her teeth. I think she only has one or two gaps left in her mouth, and even those I can see the tooth about to pop through. They mostly came through all at once over about a month. Didn't seem to cause her any trouble, although she did walk around munching on her fingers for a while there. Not much else to report. Back at swimming lessons and Lucy can now do the length of the swimming pool there on her own (bubble on back). Trouble is now it's getting harder to get her to cooperate with what I'm trying to do 'cause she just wants to swim off and do her own thing. Waaaay too confident! We've been in our pool a couple of times but Lucy strenuously objected to the lack of heating. I have managed to get her to go to the step and climb out though and she will even pull herself out on the side in ours (more pebble-crete at swimming lessons and she HATES climbing out!).

Better go, so much work to do...

Just a quick one from me to let you know we are all well though havent really got much to say. We have had a fairly boring week with nothing too exciting happening. Mia is been good and i think really understands that she will have "new baby" soon. I cant wait to see how she reacts when she meets her new sister. She loves babies at the moment and want to pick them all up etc. I think i will really have to watch her though as i'm sure she will want to do lots of helping bless her.

Dolly- Mia has quite alot of words IMO. We go to a playgroup where all the tots are born March and April and she has always been one of the more vocal ones. Our CHN told us that at 18 months they should have 10- 20 words but not to stress if this is not the case.
Mia's list is
mummy, daddy, baby, doggy, tar, booby, yes, no, nose, juice, shoes, cheese, thankyou, up, mine, all gone, good girl, more, bath, car etc. She does say alot more but these are the definates. Alot of what she says is parroting. She also says alot that i can understand but doubt other ppl could iykwim. Welcome to the thread :)

Dolly: Hi and welcome. Liam list is about 10 words you can definately understand the rest is Liam words- words/phrases that he has been saying for a while but we are still yet to establish a meaning to us, yet he uses them at the same time for the same thing. Both Liam and my eldsest didn't/ haven't really said alot until about the 19 months mark. Trust me now sometimes i wish my almost 6 year old new when to keep quiet!!!

Nat- i just realised you are booked in for you c/s on my brothers b'day...not long to go. I hope you are taking care of yourself.

Been MIA lately sorry.

Not much to say really loving life, my kids and all happy and great at our end. Tayneesha has all of her teeth now thankgod!!! Shayla's turn now she has some coming through already. Shayla is also rolling from her back to tummy and trying to crawl and getting frustrated with herself! When i say crawl in the crawling position she lies on tummy with arms up etc and trys to push with her feet so she isn't moving or crawling yet but trying to it brings back so many memories of Miss T.

Well i am still feeling hot and sexy and on top of the world. Had my hair done again this week for the weddings i have to go to soon. I can't wait to get all dressed up and look like one sexy hot Mummy. Lol :p

Nat - when is bubba due again i have forgotten or has he/she arrived already?
Jen - hows the hobbling going? I hope all is ok now and you are back to normal!
Dolly - Welcome to our group. Talk wise Miss T talks a bit but not heaps she understands everything you tell or say to her and she will do it but she is not saying two or three words together yet, she will say, Mum, Dad, Ta, Fish, Dog,Nanna etc , Don't stress at all my friends little girl was 2 when she started to talk so every child is different.

Hey Jen - you must be off to Perth soon? Hope you have a great time, it'll be fun for the little ones I'd imagine. Especially as they'll get spoilt! And I'm guessing it's starting to get hot where you are, so maybe Perth will be a welcome change. I am back to normal now, thanks for asking. Went and saw the physio and have a few exercises, but all has healed well and I don't need to go back to her. I think it helped me walking around on it as much as possible at home, without wearing the support boot, because it meant the muscles didn't lose condition. Sounds like your girls are doing well and congrats again on getting back into shape (always good to feel happy before swimsuit season!).

Hi kas - hope things are going well at the house and the retaining wall is looking spiffy! Hasn't the weather been great? Is Brad looking forward to Xmas?

We are doing well, I have one more essay and then a bit of a break from study, until I start a quick summer school subject for the first two weeks of December. It's a hassle while it's on, but it means I only have two weeks of hassles, rather than a whole semester! Plus, I only have one subject to go and I'm all done. And I won't be going back to get any further qualifications at least until I'm retired! Feels like I've been studying forever. Apart from that, I've been working heaps as well.

Our other news is that we chose a preschool for Lucy to start next year, as soon as she turns two. There are a few around here that start from two (although most start at three) and I was keen to get her into one that I'd had a few good reports about. Pleased to say we got the last place they had, although we have to pay for her spot for 6 weeks from when they start before she can go along, but never mind. It's a lovely preschool, great program and they even teach Japanese. I'm very relieved to have found her a place where I wanted, particularly since her godmother (and one of my closest friends) who has been looking after her for over a year is leaving in January to go to Townsville. Apart from the fact we'll miss her and the kids I was a bit worried about how Lucy would go not visiting her one day a week. At least I feel like the latter is sorted.

Lucy's talking is going ahead in leaps and bounds. She now asks for whatever she wants (although sometimes I'm a bit slow to pick it up!). Yesterday she was pointing to the cheese grater and saying 'chee', 'chee' and I thought she was saying 'tea', which she also likes. Wasn't until I realised she was pointing to the grater that I figured out what she wanted! She asks for 'drink', 'boob', 'weetbix', 'na-na', 'car' (when she wants to go out), 'Charlie' (calling the dog), and so on. Like Mia, she copies a lot, and when you ask her if she can say something she will often repeat it. I had a friend over on Friday who asked her if she could say 'Auntie Claire' and she said 'Auntie' very clearly (Claire was a bit harder!). She said 'fruit', copying me yesterday, which I think is a tricky one.

I think she takes after her dad, he's a chatterbox!

Must go, she's down for a nap and I'm going to try and finish an assignment while I have the chance. Hope everyone is well!

Busy busy busy here! Retaining wall pretty much done except for steps but we won't do those till we do the driveway. DH and a couple of friends have been doing the pavers yesterday and today and the grass comes on tuesday. So at least from then i can have a yard that looks like a yard and the kids will be thrilled. We will also be able to bring our dig home who has been at my MIL's. I took him to vet the other day only to find out he has damaged his cruciate ligament and will more than likely need surgery and then 6 weeks of rest and recovery, which for him will be hard as he is a very active border collie. It will be so nice to have home even if i will have to see him on a lead for the first week so he doesn't do further damage.

Liam got a new bottom molar about a week or two back and i think there are more as he has been off his food the last couple of days and not himself.

Brad is on the serious countdown to his birthday since handing out his invitations at school this week. Then two weeks later we have xmas so december for us is always busy. I have almost finished my xmas shopping for my boys and only a handful to go for the rest of the family/friends. I could think of nothing worse than shopping and working in retail in those last few weeks!
