Hi everyone,
Just a quick one to let you know i am still around! Mia has had another Asthma attack over the weekend so we ended up back at the hospital so everything has been very full on. She is still not well and ultra clingy which is making it very hard for me with 2 little demanding ones. Molly is an angel at night already going 6-7 hrs at a time but during the day feeds 3hrly and has very lengthy unsettled periods. We are coping reasonably well but i have a cold so am feeling a little worse than i probably should. At least its now and not next week. Well i hope you and your little ones are all doing well and all have a fantastic Christmas if i dont post B4.

We had a lovely day and Lucy has soooooo many toys we could probably open a shop. We're going to have to hire a skip to get rid of all the packaging!!! She's also a very lucky girl 'cause her godmother has passed over a whole heap of play equipment and other toys from her twin girls that they don't want to take with them when they move in a few weeks. She got an electric car, toddler slide/swing set, trampoline, ktichen, baby care station on top of all of her pressies! We got her a blackboard (or should I say Santa got her a blackboard) and obviously aunts, grandparents and friends spoilt her with everything from musical instruments to Little People, tractors, books, dolls, I couldn't even begin to list them all. Some have gone up in the cupboard for later.
I even managed to surprise DP this year (almost IMPOSSIBLE to buy him something he hasn't asked for, but I knew he wanted a particular game and bought it weeks ago. He tried finding it for me, but left it too late and they were all sold out!).
Nat, I hope Mia is better now and happy that Santa has been.
Oh, and I have to share, Lucy likes Santa in a book (not in real life, but never mind) and now when she sees him she goes 'Ho, ho'. I tried to get her to say 'Merry Xmas' but that was a bit much of a challenge! She's talking heaps now (just about everything she wants) and mimics really well.

We had lovely day and our house too resembles a toy shop! I cant even begin to say what Mia got it really was a ridiculous amount from a swing set and cubby house to kitchens and a rocking horse plus all the smaller presents from every man and his dog we know! We are all exhausted as it was a very long day starting with b/fast here, lunch at MIL's, dinner at my sisters and finally brunch at Mia's god parents this morning. We still have BBQ to go to this arvo- i'm tired jsut thinking about it all :) I stayed up way too late last night (1.30am) as i wanted to try and sort through the boxes of presents so i could pack some stuff away for later in the year etc- what a huge job. Jen i mentioned to DH about 1/2 hr ago that i think we should get a skip so good minds must think alike.
Mia is alot better now though we are all still full of snot. She is talking sooooooo much and i can tell you at times i jsut want to tell her to be quiet but its very cute. Her favourite words are NO, WHAT and WHY. I can cope with the why ut i detest the no and what. I have started calling her my mini tornado as she is into everything imaginable. I dont know if she has gotten a little more curious or if i just cant watch her as much as i used to whilst looking after dd2. On Xmas eve whilst i was feeding DD2 she got into the bathroom cupboard and painted her own nails so that was messy.
Well i hope you all enjoy the rest of this festive season and have a great New Years. Ours will be more than likely quiet as its limiting to what we can do with 2 kids now as even if Mia is baby sat i still have DD2 to feed.

Hope you all saw the New Year in in style (not in bed, like we did!).
Seems like already the holidays are well and truly gone.
I've been busy working since Xmas. Had issues with a hard drive that went kaput (thanks to my DP's treatment of it!) and I'm trying to work around that, hoping that the computer dr can get most of it back...
On the good news front we found a new nanny who starts next week. We found her through findababysitter.com.au, which has nannies and babysitters profile ads and a place for you to put up an ad. It was recommended to me by a colleague. Saves having to pay a placement agency a huge fee and isn't that expensive by comparison. Had a response to my ad within hours, interviewed someone the same day (and another the next) and hired the first one! So easy, she's very experienced, done both private nannying and worked in a daycare and is Centrelink registered which means we at least get something back from the cost. Great references. She works Mon and Tues with another family and will be with us Wed-Fri to start with. She only happened to be available because that same day someone else had changed the days they'd originally hired her and she couldn't switch. Lucy liked her and wanted her to read her bedtime story, so that's a good sign. At least I'll be home with them for the majority of the time, so I can get a feel for how it's going.
Now getting ready for preschool in March, have a whole heap of labels that we got for Xmas to put on Lucy's clothes, lunch box, etc.
Lucy is doing very well, talking all of the time and very patient in getting her point across when I don't understand right away (doesn't get that from DP or me!). She can name just about everything (even things I didn't realise she knew) and has little sentences now (3 words or so). She seems to be growing up so quickly. She's a little bossy with the dogs, 'come here, Charlie', 'off, charlie', that kind of thing. But she has also started being really affectionate with them (and everything, kisses are always ready to go!) which is sweet. She insists on having our dog Charlie go to have a nap with her and he faithfully obliges.
Well, must go, work to do.
Hi Ladies, good to hear you are all doing well and survived the silly season. Ours was fairly mellow. DH worked xmas but have NYE off. Both the boys are well. Brad is getting a little bored with the hols i think and is starting to wear me down. Liam has decided that our house is a gymnasium and climbs the back of the lounge and either junps or rolls down and is also hanging off any benches and vanitiy bowls he can reach. His talking is coming along slowly but steadily. Still only single words but they are increasing by a handful a week. I'm getting a little over hearing "mum" then he does something, "mum" does it again...etc...!
I had a really scary thought today.....My baby will be 2 yrs old in 4 1/2 weeks :dance: :doh: i can't believe it has crept up so quickly :(. I had always planned putting him in a big bed for his birthday but he is still so all over the place when he sleeps. We have a bed rail but that won't stop him falling out the end. plus if i am going to order one i should probably do it soon so it will be here in time.
I think i have decided to start a new business venture. i looked into it when Liam was a few months old but it would have been far too difficult. I am going to start doing a Homewares party plan that sells, wrought iron, timber, jewellery, beading, oils, linen, craft kits, scrapbooking. ceramics......can't think of anything else....?!?!? It will be something i can fit in around DH's shifts my other job 2 half days a week and most importanyly the kids, give us a little more $ to save, no probably spend (haha) and just to give me a better sense or independance. The company is local (1 hours drive) so I plan to go and visit them next week to have good chat and get a proper run down.

Jen - wow at Lucy starting preschool! Ours won't take them under 3. I have to enrol him when he turns 2 in order to get him in, but he won't start until 3. Think they have to be toilet trained too.
Speaking of which - anyone started training yet? We've bought the seat for the loo for him to climb up on. He hides to do his poos now, and then tells me so I think we're ready. I've been holding back tho.. coz we had a weekend away in bathurst, and we're going away for a week beginning of feb... so i'm holding off until after that.

Well its been a long time between posts. Mia has had another bad asthma attack and i have had gastro so along with been unwell and a newborn i've been very busy.
Liz- Mia has started TT though i'm not trying very hard at the moment. The potty is out and she will often ask me to use it and i let her. We've only had a few wee's on it and lots of accidents but as i said we are starting slowly she is readier than i am. Hopefully when we are all feeling 100% i will give it my all
YEah, I think DS is readier than me too. He actually told me this morning BEFORE doing a poo that he was going to do it, but I'm too darn lazy to take his nappy off and put him on the loo. LOL. Oh well, I've ordered some training pants/nappies today, so it'll be easier to take them off and sit on the loo. I reckon he'll train pretty quickly once we start. Altho, he's not telling me before he wees yet. But it'd be nice not to have to change pooey nappies at least!
Sounds like Mia is well and truly up with what's supposed to happen! Lucy is a bit like Tallon, Liz, she'll tell me when she's going to do it (and in fact the other day told me when she was going to do a pee too - and then did it in the bath!). But if I ask her if she wants to sit on the potty I get a very clear 'No' with a shake of the head. She was sitting on the potty and making noises, but thinks that's a game. Getting dolly to do it is so much more fun than doing it herself.
I'm thinking of cracking out the stickers and she'll get a big reward for sitting on the potty. But I'm not sure she's really ready, since she's not too consistent with telling me.
Our big thing for the week is that she hasn't had a dummy for her afternoon naps. First afternoon played for about an hour in her room before finally dropping off, yesterday about 10 mins, today not at all. No tears though, so that's a start. I've told her dummy is for night time now. If that works by the weekend we might even try not having dummy at night time. She has the dog in with her in the afternoon (she insists) so I tell her she has Charlie instead, but not sure how nights will work (when he isn't on the end of her bed). Anyone else weaning off dummies?
jen13- i took Mia's dummies off her cold turkey when she was 15 months as she used to chew them and i was going through several a week. She bit the teet off one and choked and that was the end of them. We never had any probs. Sounds like lucy is doing well though so nights may not be a prob either.
Mia will ask to sit on the big toilet every time i go it gets very tiring, I will definately be giving it my all when i am feeling 100% i get sick of changing nappies with having them both in them
Hi Liz it's good to hear from you. Sounds like Tallon is well and truly ready for TT. I am sure Kayla has settled in now and Tallon loves being a big brother.
Liam likes to think he is TT. He will hold his doodle and play with his balls when getting nappy changed or before/after bath and gets the stance happening and says wee but nothing comes. He also now likes to watch DH and Brad go gto the toilet. He too will hide when doing a poo and if you ask if he has done one he will smile and nod checkily.
Sounds as though Mia has the TT thing down as well. I hope she has recovered from the asthma attack and you are all doing much better.
Well done to Lucy for no dummy for naptime! Liam still has his days where he has it most of the day and other times when he couldn't care less. And as for dolly getting TT that is just so cute.
Yep, Tallon loves his little sister. He's been so affectionate with her from the beginning it's really sweet.
He's becoming a bit of a monster for us tho! LOL. Where's my placid little man gone? Terrible twos are kicking in early I think heheh. Altho, I read somewhere that they get a testosterone boost around this age (hence the terrible 2's) so I guess I should be grateful he's 'normal' heh. Makes sense too, coz it's aggressive behaviour too - hitting & kicking. Sometimes he just gets too excited and takes things too far, but other times he has that look in his eyes. *sigh*. Just another phase I hope!
He's watched both of us use the toilet since forever, so he knows (and comments LOL) when & why we use the toilet. Now that you mention it, he wees when he's in the shower with DH and knows what he's doing. How do I get out of MY lazy mindset tho? I sooo can't be bothered training him, and then having the hassle of having a toddler that needs to find a toilet all the time? lol. I really don't want 2 in cloth over the next winter tho, so I must at least attempt it before then.
Jen - Yay for no dummy! Tallon never took a dummy, but I'm using one with Kayla (it all started in hospital lol). I think I'm more addicted to it than she is! Hee hee at dolly using the potty.. Tallon put his toy dog up to my boob for him to have some mimi this morning! LOL.
Woohoo, just wanted to share with you lovely ladies that i recieved my kit for my new venture today for Kabuki Homewares. I am really looking forward to getting started.
Liam is still trying to get these eye teeth through!!!!! Had no real probs for the last week except for more poo than usual so i am sure there is another unsettled patch just waiting to show its ugly face.
Only 4 days till Bradley back at school. Now that i say it, its a bit sad but he is just so bored and, the only thing i am not looking forward to is getting up and organised to be out of the house by 8:30. I have really been enjoying staying in my pj's till late if i so chose to.
Anyway, have a great Australia day weekend

Hi to others I have missed.
Not much to report here, well nothing huge anyway. DS1 and 2 have started early intervention for their speech and language. DS2 goes Tues, Wed and Thurs mornings from 9am to 11:30am and then DS1 goes Tues, Wed and Thurs from 12:30pm to 3pm. I am in and out of the house 4 times on those days. Plus coming up they both have a block of speech therapy so I will be even busier! But all this running around has helped me to lose 7 kilos in about 3 weeks. It will be great if I can shed a few more kilos between now and end of Feb cos this year I get a real actual birthday!!!! I am so excited....I will be 6 LOL. 24 really. So we are going to have a nice family dinner on the 29th and then the 1st March we are having a party with all our family and friends. It is sposed to be a surprise but Tony couldn't keep it to himself plus he wanted my help to organise things lol. Men hey!
DS2 had a birthday on the 11th Feb, he is 3 now and it is a bit sad, they grow up so fast! Plus it feels like yesterday that I bought each of them home from the hospital....in all that c/section pain hehehe. Wouldn't change it tho!

Great to hear from you Steph, good work on the weight loss. With all that running around with the kids there no wonder! I have been checking in but no one had posted since my last one. I was starting to think you had all gone and left me.
Well Liam has now got his 2nd eye tooth. The bootom right i think it is. He got it last week and the nappies that went along with it were a shocka!
His vocabulary is much bigger, i didn't reslise just how big until he started naming his body parts. We have just mastered chin and neck, however he still gets a little confused with "belbow" (elbow) and "showba"(shoulder). We are in the countdown week until my baby boy is 2. So close that i am in final staging for planning party food and cake. We are just having family and friends over on sunday afternoon for afternoon tea.
Which reminds me I really need to write his birthday letter. I started with Bradley, however i did all the notes for both of them for last year and am still yet to actually put fingers to keyboard to write them. I really should do it otherwise i will start getting all confused with what year they did what!
I have however been in search for s new ticker. It's a hard choice especially as i like to keep the same one for the full duration. So keep your eyes peeled formy final decision- hehe!
Liam currently has a sore ankle/foot. Not really sure which or if both as he just keeps saying "sore". He was playing with Brad and the little girl from next door yesterday afternoon and they were all spinning around. Well, Liam fell over and at the same time Brad feel on his foot. He is normally a ruff 'n tumble kid who recovers well but after an hour he still wouldn't stand on it so i took him to the hospital GP access and after xrays he is 95% sure there is no fracture but as he is not used to looking at kids xrays without the radiography report he couldn't be 100%. He just told me that if he still wasn't bareing any weight by tonight or tomorrow to go to GP and get full results from xray report. He is still not taking any weight and the few times he has tried today he has fallen to the floor and cried. Other than that it doesn't bother him. It just looks funny to see him crawling everywhere again. I am sure it is just a strain or slight muscle tear and will just need time to heal though!
Brad seems to have settled into yr 1 nicely. We have the parent info night next week so then we will know what we are in for. I have heard that this teacher doesn't like homework except for reading as home is for family time so that will be good, as last year Brad became overwealmed.
OK gotta go aand think about dinner....Hmmmmm and i have no inspiration....better check out the recipies thread!
