Hamish slept from 9pm to 7am last night.....

I couldn't believe it when i glanced at the time this morning, after the night before i was thinking it would happen again as he was a nightmare to get to sleep. So maybe it was the needles and not teeth, gee i hope so. lol
I also gave him the brauers teething relief so that may have helped also, i suppose i will have to wait and see tonight. Well this weekend is the only weekend we dont have anything on until christmas so i am going to do a big clean out, well that is the plan anyway. I often have big ideas and then something will come up and they are pushed back to another time. I also promised dd i would take her surfing but i am not keen on getting in bathers..ewwww lol. Maddi got a surfboard for christmas last year and it hasn't been used since feb so time to get it out again i guess. Now Hamish is a bit bigger i feel i should be able to do more with dd, she has had alot of changes in last year and has handled everything very well and also been a great help to me.
    Enough of me blabbing on..
NaNa - i have found a few online shops for the kinderkot, dp wants to get one for next weekend so not sure if i ordered it online it will be here by wednesday, so i am looking for somewhere i can purchase it in Melbourne or even Geelong on the way. I have a sister in Camberwell so she is going to do a search for me beforehand. Looking forward to the few days away just hoping Hamish sleeps better than last time we went away. Good luck at paed today. I hope you have your list of questions for him, i know i took Hamish a few weeks ago and totally forgot to ask anything i was just concerned about his lungs at the time though.
Hi to everyone else i will be back later Hamish is fighting sleep again so i better go and try calm him...

    Hey just a quick update...
Paediatrician yesterday went pretty well, and I probably didn't need to go but it was good to get a better, more qualified opinion than the idiot GP I saw a few months ago...
Aadi is now 8.9kg, and that's freakin heavy! Especially since I hauled him all the way to the other side of the city on public transport, in the sling. I forget how long they said he was, I was too busy trying to keep him from squirming off the bench and screaming the place down. Don't know why he chose that moment to squeal like a stuck pig... I'll check again next week, at the MCHN.
Apparently the flapping-arms thing is just DS's way of expressing himself... which I suppose is better than screaming and crying. The Dr was concerned that I'd been looking up symptoms online and thought Aadi might be autistic because that can be one of the signs, but there's no risk of it. And no, I hadn't bothered stressing myself with online medicine! He's normal, healthy and happy. We just need to get him used to a better routine of sleeping now while he's still adaptable, and get him to understand that it's not ok to play at 3am! I think he knew something was up because he only woke for a feed at 1.30, and then slept thru till 6.
As for the quantities of solids, the Dr said there are so many opinions of what's enough and how much is right, but the main thing to remember is that milk is to be the main food still, and to just get bubs used to different tastes and textures. Get them to learn what's a breakfast taste, what's a dinner taste etc...

Mis - welcome back! So glad you got something sorted! And yeah, XP is an idiot if he thinks $50 is enough for anything much...

Abb - YAY! Great sleep! Hope you get your clean-up done. It feels so good to actually do something you planned, and even better if you finish it! I found the back of my garage last week... I'd forgotten it was even there.

Jess - I'm cranky coz AF came back, and I was thinking/hoping it was just going to be a one-off. That and the spiders in my nappy stash...

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Well we had a busy day... Had the carpets cleaned and had this community rally thing to go to... Its been so damn windy... feels like the roof will lift off...

DD slept ok last night 3 wake ups and up for good at 7 but just glad it isnt 5.... She takes the dummy the 1st time then second wake up she wants a feed then the 3rd she'll 5/10 times she'll just take the dummy too... I find the flip and dummy works well... I wish she'd learn to roll back over in the cot... she can do it but would rather cry... This morning she actually laid in there and was singing and talking in there for bout 1/2 hour... it was so good to hear a happy girl... She hasnt done that in ages... I think it was from her 3 hour sleep on friday... (its amazing how good she can be when DS isnt home)

She had an hour sleep today and was so tired come 4 i held her out til 4.30 fed her solid... she had a whole jar. then 1 side then i bathed her gave her a nice rubb down and gave her the pther sie and she was asleep by 5.30... i'm hoping i dont pay for it tonight... Hopefully she'll wake up at about 7 play for an hour or 2 and then resettle down ok... (heres hopeing)

NaNa-Glad the Pead went well and that you got everything sorted out... I tend to over react once i google things too... (note to self: no more googling symptoms... ) Isnt it weird that we get cranky when AF shows up but when were not TTc we freak out when AF doesnt come... LOL... YAY on the weight also... WOW DD sounds small.... only 6.9kgs

Mis- Glad the mediation went well.. (i posted in your other thread)

Abb- yay hamish... woo hoo... can he come over and teach Tiahna again... lol

Well best be off.. time for a nice relaxing shower and a nice cuppa and relax in front of the telly with DP... Hope everyone else is well...

Hi everyone well so much for the clean up, my sis turned up today from melbourne with her hubby and 2 kids so i have done absolutely zilch. Oh well i thought it will still be there tomorrow but Dp tells me we have plans. Anyway if the weather is still windy and raining i wont be going anywhere. Hamish has been such a pain to get to sleep lately, i have a feeling it is the age, where they start to know if they cry enough you will pick them up, i am trying so hard not to give in but i hate it so much when he cries. I can remember Maddi going through the same thing and i think it only took around a week or so of tough love to get her into a routine again Fingers crossed it is the same again. I dont let him cry to much as i cant stand it and if he gets too upset i just pick him up give him a quick cuddle and put him back down again, most of the time it only takes around 10 mins to get him to sleep. But i use to be able to just put him in give the dummy walk out and he would cry a bit, Dp would go in repeat what i just did and he would be asleep. Oh well i will see how he goes.
NaNa i dont google any symptoms and i have kept all my nursing books well hidden in the garage as i know i could quite easily miss diagnose everything. It was bad enough when i was studying, i think i had every disease imaginable or thought i did. lol
Jess i hope you get a good night sleep tonight, well maybe one wake up only...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Mis T we posted at same time, Hamish is extra clingy too, i walkes out of lounge today and he sooked so i came back to see what was wrong and he started laughin and flapping his arms about, cheeky little monkey is just getting to know how the world works... Just the beginning of all our challenges........

morning everyone! Our weekend was cold and windy and raining and hailing and sunny and repeat... every 5 minutes. Melbourne weather sucks!
ATM DS is in his cot whimpering and fussing to himself because he's fighting sleep again. He fell asleep in my arms, but the second his head touches the bed he's awake and squirming. He's been doing it all weekend for every single nap except when we were out. I just can't keep picking him up and cuddling him back to sleep every 5 minutes, my back will break! He'll fall asleep on his own eventually, and as long as he's not actually crying, I just need to leave him be. Saturday night he woke up at 3 and screamed for 2 hours on and off, until I relented and fed him. He didn't need it, but he just wouldn't go back to sleep otherwise. DP was good enough to try and get him back to sleep for an hour or so, but the same thing kept happening. He'd drop off to sleep but as soon as his head touched the sheets he'd scream. Naughty baby! He SO doesn't need night-time feeds. He's such a greedy-guts!

Mis - lol at watching the Incredibles together! I think our tickers must be stuck in an American time zone, mine's out a day too. Good luck today with the visit.

Abb - oh well, shame about the clean-up, but hey, it's not going anywhere right? Hope you did something more enjoyable!

BBL, DS is crying for real now... blah.

    Morning
NaNa Hamish is the same with sleeping lately, i really do think it is the age, they know if they cry we are going to pick them up. I have persisted all weekend and this morning when i put ds in bed i only had to go in once so hopefully he is realising that i mean business..lol
Mis Tree - i had a horrible weekend in the end and without going into details dp and i are not really talking atm, i could go on and on about it but lets just say men can be such ignoramases (unsure of spelling) i know how to spell what i really want to call him but i wont do that on here. lol Anyway i spent yesterday with family and didnt come home until dinner time last night so my big clean up and our apparent plans for the day never happened.

Hamish has been back sleeping well again, no wake ups for a couple of nights, well since the dreaded immunisation night. He is a real chatterbox now, makes alot of different sounds and always sounds like he is saying yeah. Still no sign of the teeth yet but is definetley teething. Loves his solids, still on 2 solid feeds a day, not sure when you go to 3? He has been drinking water after each feed out of a sippy cup thing, although he loves to chew on it more than drink. Ok i best be off to do some house work i suppose....

No thats fine, just cant have them earlier than 8 weeks after last one. Best not to get the done when he isnt well anyway.

morning ladies (by the time i finish this it prob wont be mornign anymore)
i thoughgt i woudl write a few key points seens somethings r happenign with everyone so i dont repeat myself

sleeping: jayda fights her sleeps sometimes but others she is fine. overall she is still great with her sleeps. she used to fall asleep at 730 after her last bottle but now she stays awake and we have to fight to get her to sleep but once she is asleep she doesnt wake till about 6am.

teething: still no sign for jayda. she found a dummy under the lounge the other day and was chewing on it like crazy. it looked so funny she was tryint o suck and chew at the same time and sounded so funny. she has never wanted a dummy b4, she would gag if we tried to give her one.

some one mentioned water a while ago it was prob the old thread i think but anyways. it was said thta ff babies should be given water. is this right cause i have never given jayda anythign other then formula. i started her on the weekend.

i tried giving jayda some baby apple juice yesterday arvo just for somethign dif with her solids and she got a rash all over her tummy but it doesnt happen when she has the apple ceral in the jars. woudl this mean it could be a perservitive in the juice not the acutal apple. i also let her suck on my apple when i have one and she hasnt got a rash from that b4.

mis: u havnt had any trouble with the weetbix have u. eveyrthign i have read has said not to start them on it till after 12months but i knwo so many people that have started it earlyw ith no trouble.

it is funny how b4 banana used to be a food that u shouldnt give to late now it doesnt matter. i wonder how they determine the age for certain foods? prob the amount of babies that have a reaction to it maybe.

how is everyone going with chrissy plans? i have some of my decorations up but i am not aloud to put the tree up till this sunday.

oh, Abb, that sucks! poohpooh to DPs for being complete idiots sometimes... hope he makes it up to you!

Sassy - you're lucky Jayda's not teething yet! It's not much fun. SOme kids don't get teeth till 9 months or so. And you're also lucky you only sometimes have to struggle to get her to sleep, and then she sleeps thru. oh, how I long for that to happen... these kids are all so different, but all lovable bundles of trouble! Aadi goes to sleep without a fuss normally, but most of the time it's in my arms still, unless he's in the pram or the car. We still feed-to-sleep sometimes, but I dont mind, since it's quiet, happy time we spend together and I know he can go to sleep without a feed too.
I reckon food for babies is a victim of trends and fashion as much as medical research. Everyone will tell you something different. Doesn't make it easy to know what to do!

Mis - I'd definitely wait till Seth's completely ok before he has vaccinations. There's no real good time to do it, but if he's just a little bit run-down or unwell it will only make things worse. Yeah, what Abb said...

Forgot to mention before, DS is practically crawling! He's gone from only rolling over onto his tummy one day, to rolling right over onto his back and over again, then commando-scooting backwards and spinning 360 degrees on the spot to full-on following me around the room trying to eat my socks!! All in a weekend practically! Still isn't sitting up for long unassisted tho... cant keep still long enough!

Get yourselves comfy and a nice cool drink - here comes Bec's novel post I just can't help myself, once I start typing I find it hard to stop.

We had a nice weekend - all starting on Friday when DH came home much earlier from work. He was laid off , but thankfully he went to the company up the road from him and got another job within 15mins (phew! I went into a panic when I saw his car pull up, as I had a feeling that's why he was home early, especially now that my maternity leave pay has finished as of last week). I'd planned to visit my parents at a caravan park bout 30mins south from here, so we all went down and surprise visited them. I even took Cameron into the pool there, it was nice and warm with sails over the shallow end. It was the first swim I'd done with Cameron, and he was so exhausted he had a good sleep after his swim.

Saturday he went to swimming lessons, hadn't been for 2 weeks. Didn't know how he'd go though as he had woken up much earlier that morning, so thought he be grumpy but he was still happy to be swimming with his daddy I think. He then slept for 2hrs when we got home. But wouldn't have an afternoon nap, and as we were going out for dinner with inlaws that night I got a little scared. When we got to dinner, I ended up having to go for a little walk, as he was overtired, but just wouldn't give. Eventually he fell asleep after a 15min walk, but slept the rest of the night out .

Sunday I changed the routine a little, as I decided I need to lose weight because as I am a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding in March next year and she is starting to arrange our dresses. So after his 1st feed of the day DH, the dog, Cam and I went for a 30min walk. Cam was awake the whole time, which is fine as he'd usually have play time after that 1st feed for about 30mins. I thought he would go to sleep when we got home for the usual 2 hrs, but he only slept 40mins. Grrr...he was not a happy boy, would not sleep any longer. So as we'd needed to go to the shops we gave up on trying to get Cam to sleep and went. Cam fought sleep at the shops for about 1 hour, eventually gave in and then slept for almost 2 hrs. Unfortunately that meant we had to keep shopping and spending, whoops, but at least he slept well (which ended up being the only good sleep of the day til night time).

On the sleeping thing, you can count me in on the challenging sleeping issues everyone is having. Cameron use to be easy to slip into bed during the day once I saw his tired signs, but lately he just seems to cry when put into his cot. Even at night with that last feed, he use to seem excited to go to bed and we could just pop him in and walk out and we wouldn't hear a peep from him til morning, but now it takes a bit of crying, some cuddles and a few turning ons of his musical seahorse to work (I seem to have to allow 30mins to get him to sleep and tiptoeing all around). He also has been waking up with a screaming cry during the night, usually around 2 or 3am (last night was 11pm), but thankfully we just pick up, cuddle and place back down with his seahorse and that usually works, sometimes after a few times. I agree it must be an age thing, probably testing me. Hope it doesn't last too much longer.

Well after a 30min fight to get Cameron to sleep earlier, he has done alright, it's been 2hrs now (see I told him he needed the sleep- there was no need to fight me - i was obviously right). Oh I think I can hear him stirring. Might try to get back later for personals.

    Bye for now

Everyone always post when i don't have access. My net isn't working so i'm using my phone. You all know how addicted i am. Hopefully all will be fixed by tomorrow. Wont do personals just yet as this is harder then i thought. Just thought i'd update and say injections went well for both kids. Not as bad as i thought. DD is now getting up on all 4's but not for long. She's loving the commando crawl and is getting round rather well. We had a bad night but we now have another tooth on the way. Hasn't cut through but i can see white and its very lumpy. Hopefully tonight will be less screaming and more sleeping. Will be back later for more. Cant wait to read up on all the posts. Bye

mis_tree I hope you get some more child support, I cant see how $50 a month covers anything, nappies alone would cost more than that OMG how silly are these people. Good on you for doing it on your own though, what a superwomen.

Well Liam had 6 month check up. He is going great guns. He is on 75th percentile for weight which is awesome. She said he is developing really well with his rolling etc. He is such a party animal though, he rarely sleeps but is always happy so cant complaint I guess. He is partying on at the moment when he is meant to be asleep. HMMM gonna go put his dummy in AGAIN

Sassy that rash is weird, maybe try the juice again in a month and see what happens.

Jess I hope that tooth comes thru so you can get a better night sleep

Gotta tend to Liam, be back later

Just got back from the MCH nurse, was supposed to go yesterday but it just wasn't happening... DS was being a cranky-bum, as it seems that around 3pm is when the teething grizzlies begin for him. Anyway, he's 8874g, 69cm long and head measurement is 45cm. Meaning he's a heavy lad! That's an increase of over 1.5kg since September! Considering he's not really having much in the way of solids (not enough to constitute a meal, anyway) that's a wee bit impressive...
Right now he's crawling around the playmat trying to eat everything in sight. He isn't using his hands to push up much, so he's pretty much pushing himself around on his face, and he looks like a right little Hoover! Crazy kid. Speaking of Hoover...must get a new, better vaccuum cleaner this weekend, I think. I've already put latches on all the cupboard doors and corner-covers on the coffee table. Have to do the power points next and relocate everything remotely appealing to bubs to a securely locked cupboard somewhere!! He's into everything already.
Oh no! Spoke too soon! Gotta go get this kid before he finds the car keys and takes Papa's car for a joyride! BBL for personals...

    I'M BACK!!!!

lol.... WOW now i know what its like for some of you ladies that arent daily users... Bloody telstra... OMG i wont get into it but let me just say how frustrating they can be... passedd around to every department... GRRRRR!!!!

Well so much to catch up on... Ok... Me 1st... We had a good night last night... bed at 8, woke up at 11 dummy worked, woke up at 12.45 she was doing that cry like a spoilt little brat squeel type one and when she'd hear a noise (think ing it was me) she'd stop and start again so i left her go but after 1/2 hour i couldnt take anymore so i fed her and "leap" she slept til 5.30 played in the cot til 6. WOOO HOOO>.. she's been really spewy lately.... back on the meds. doing 2 solids a day and stil 1.2 jar. For the crawling were progressing to her arching her back to get ol all 4s.. like squaring her back,.... hard to explain... she's getting around so quickly and the commando crawl is becomming a nusence(spl) she gets under the lounge now... GRRRR....

We had speech therapy with DS roday and she was a but unsettled but i gave her a feed and she slept for the rest of the session. We now have 2 bottom teeth cut through although the second one is just cut not raised yet like the other one.

NaNa- YAY on teh weight gain... WOW most bubs are quite a bit heavier then DD... DD also does the face crawl... looks hilarious...

Deancey- sounds like liam is also going great... I'm also hoping we get more sleep... its killing me i had a nanna nap today... lol

Miss- Me addicted... pfffttt.... i had a bit of a reality check and yeah i'm a wee bit obcessed. I dont have a lot of friends with kids so i like hearing and sharing kid stuff... As for the weetbix take a look at this thread https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...er-12mths.html

Bec- LOVE your posts... Makes mine look little... Good luck on the weight loss... Also Cam sound like he enjoys the water so much... and it seems to wear him out... (thats got to be a good thing... I forgot how much it wore DS out...

Abb- DP and i wernt talking over the weekend either... Men... GRRRRR hope all is well now...

Nikki & Girll22-Hope things are well,

    Hey Jess, welcome back!
Scuse me while I have a little rant...
I dont think I'm really having "sleep issues". I think it's all just normal! That's just me trying to be upbeat and positive about it maybe, but I'm allowed to be delusional coz I have never had a full night's sleep since April!! It doesn't make it any easier for you guys who are struggling now after having bubs sleep thru, but I feel a whole lot more relieved when I just stop stressing about things being abnormal or wrong and just go with the flow.
I spent a lot of today beating myself up about starting DS on solids the standard, prescribed way, and worrying because he's just not that interested, and the MCH nurse really bugged me about it (even tho it's OBVIOUS DS is exceptionally healthy), but nonetheless I spazzed about it. Eventually I gave up and remembered the best bit of advice I have heard ever is to just trust my instincts. Then I saw the Nestle logo on the leaflet the nurse gave me and promptly threw it in the bin in disgust.

Bec - wow, good on your DH for getting another job so quick! That's amazing. And maybe I should try the swimming for Aadi. Anything to burn up some excess energy! LOL at having to keep shopping. I deliberately avoid the shops and keep walking around the block in order to keep DS settled in the pram. Keeps me active!
Abb - looking forward to your trip to Melbourne? Hope you and DP are talking to each other by then!
Mis - good luck with your appeal. what planet do these men live on?? seriously... don't freak about the weetbix, but I reckon mix it up a bit with porridge or semolina or whatever.
Sass - look out! Jayda's on the move! Brace yourself! Hope you got the rash sorted.
Deancey - how are you going with the partying? It's so nice to have a happy baby, but it can be exhausting, hey?
    OK, time for bed...
