You're doing a good job. Christine I would have told you exactly the same thing had you rung my station. I would have done exactly what you did. You also get extra good mother points for effort, initiative and conscience. She probably is going to rebel one day, but not to the extent you're worried about. I wish I could take her out with me for a few nights for you. She'd know how great you are then.
