Thanks girls... never had croup here so I have no idea.. Will take her to the Dr as soon as I can get in this morning. Are the symptoms runny nose, watery eyes etc too - like a cold??? Also how do they get a toddler to cough on cue!!? ALthough chances are she will cry at some stage and then you can hear her bark :( Poor poppet.
Just describe her cough like you did - like a bark, mine sound almost like a seal when they have croup!!! If she is anything like Angus, one look at the Dr and she will scream and cough!! He hates them!!!
Thanks girls - just got back, hesaid it doesn't sound like croup right now but her husky bark from last night has gone so i don't know coukd just be a bad cold... Off work tomorrow too, I feelsobadseeing as I only have a few days left.:( Off to sook for a bit coz I'm tired - back later!
Oh Tan don't feel bad - you can't help it if Izzy is sick and she is way more important than work! Sounds like you could do with the rest too hun, take care :hug:
I am off work with sick kids way more than I work. Thats how it goes for us Mum's unfortunately. DH would never take a day off to watch sick kids. Tan, run yourself a bath and have some downtime. few months and there won't be much time to rest! Hope Izzy is feeling better and has a better nights sleep. Mwah!
Oh tan u poor darling..what a night for u..I hope izzy gets better soon..I swear by my kids having the vaporiser on when we get the colds and barking here..I also find and it may b an old wives tale but a little vicks on there feet and put on socks..it works wonders..god bless nan for that one lol...and if my kiddies are really bad with the barking,I go and run a hot shower and take em in the bathroom and close the door.make sure u put a towel at bottom of door to help keep the steam in though..gets hot but helps so much to move any congestion..not good for saving water but honestly when it comes to our kids health,who cares..good luck babe and sweet dreams to u when u do get some sleep xo
Thanks ladies....Had a much better night last night, hubba_bubba thanks for the reminder about the vaporiser! Worked a treatlast night, she stirred a few times but slept through again so that was an absolute treat. I needed it. Mum is coming over for a few hours today to let me go shopping on my own :hooray: so that will be nice! I need to get stuff for baby - 50 days to go! Im sooo disorganised! I was just looking at nursery pics I took when we were pg with Izzy and I had it all set up at around 24 weeks! Im now 33 and haven't done hardly anything except sort out clothes that have been given to me!

I'm so over dealing with banks about our home loan, hopefully it will all be sorted today. Ggggrrrr I don't know who is worse - real estate agents or bank employees! Sorry if anybody works as one of those, just finding the whole process frustrating!!!!

We had a quiet one which was sooooo nice! Ellie has had fun all weekend playing with her new mini basketball (just like Dad's lol!). She is obsessed with it! DH is getting her started early so she can play basketball in the olympics! Had to break it to him that genetics is not on her side and she is most likely going to be a shorty and therefore probably won't make the olympic team lol!

Well Izzy is slowly recovering from her cold, poor thing, still very snotty. I am so sick of this cold weather, bring on summer I say. She is learning so much and so quickly it is just amazing! Climbing is our new thing, and we have had to re-baby proof the lounge room because she gets up on the couch and then runs on it :rolleyes: How on earth will I keep this little tyke from breaking every bone in her body?? ANy suggestions appreciated! Someone said the other day that she needs to fall off to learn but far out - Im not going to sit there and watch her fall off a couch just to let her learn that!
I have a midwife appointment today, yay - I love hearing our little mans heartbeat, and Im meeting up with Kelly later this week to go through our birth plan - not long to go now - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was reading Toddler Tactics and it has a section about having a new baby and it made me cry. DH thinks that because she is still so young it won't be too bad but Im just so worried about splitting my time and getting enough sleep(its all about sleep isn't it :p) On the other hand I just cannot wait to meet this little guy and completing our family!
It is DH's birthday today so I am going to cook a nice dinner, mum is coming over to sew sheets for our little guys cradle and nope the nursery is STILL not set up!! Busy weekend!

Annabelle has conjuncuvitus (omg really bad spelling!) and I just got off the phone to the 'nurse on call' she said by the sounds of it I have to go straight to the doctors and get her drops. The worst part is I have $0 money till tomorrow :( What a terrible mum I am, I cannont leave her till tomorrow, it's terrible :crying::sick: I feel like ***** and like she deserves a better mummy with $$$ :(:help:
So I thought of just going to the hossy and getting them to help as they'll give her, her 1st dose.
Please dont think, "Typical young mother" as this never happenes! If we're tight one week (most weeks) I always make sure there is at very least $20 in the bank in case Annabelle needs something. THis is the one week I didn't do it! :(
I'll post this in another bit of forum also, just incase non of the ladies here reply for a while. As I really have no idea what to do
Oh no Kass, poor Annabelle. Um I'm not sure what to suggest. Is there anybody that you could borrow some money from (I know its not ideal?). Do you have a regular GP? Maybe you could ask them if they can see Annabelle and you will pay them as soon as you can? If you explain that she has conjunctivitis then I'm sure they will let you pay in a few days time? Good luck hun. Oh and we would never think 'typical young mum' ok, we all know you are a great mummy to your little girl!

It's not conjunctivitus :dance: It's just caused by her cold and blocks her tear ducks! Doctor said her doesn't want to give her mediction and that I can fix it with salone solution. Thank god! Im never doing that again!
I didn't explain WHY I have know money till pay day. Clint hit the car door into the fence! And that cost us $550 to fix! So thats why Im a little short this week! Like $550 short! :doh:

Well I had my appointment, the midwife is pretty sure bub is breech.:crying: So I'm feeling pretty *****ty right now. I know there is time for him to turn but FFS it just sucks.... I am sooo determined to give this VBAC my best shot and I want to birth my babies not just have surgery to remove them :( Anyway might be back later in a better frame of mind ladies. :hug:

Yep - have been on lots because was trying to avoid a posterior labour again...... looks like I will have to set up the ironing board on the couch and lounge around upside down... question for you lovelies! How does that work - gravity normally works with your body and the babies head being the heaviest part of his body, to pull him head down. Now if he is head up and Im lying on an angle head down - wouldn't that mean you are working against gravity!??? i don't get it but am gonna try it! :)
OMG, I am so sorry, I have been MIA!! I have been soooo busy, I am wondering when I can stop and relax!! I have work to day, andf have been furiously tryint to get myhouse in order for guests in 2 weeks. I am redecorating the girls room. Well actually clearing out the toy room and making that their room cause it is bigger. So have searched everywhere for some nice furniture cause there are no built ins but dont have time to put some in!! yikes! So am getting a desk and hutch, dresser and tall boy and bookcase, and am hoping all their clothes and stuff will fit in that!! My Dh isn't happy cause it is almost 3K for it all, not including the paint and new carpet. But lucky my tax cheque was OK!! So a busy busy busy!!!
Just for you thought Tan, I think my little man was breech till about 32wks, then turned. I was stressing cause my ob was def not going to let me have a vag birth if he was breech. Was c/section whether I liked it or not. So...fingers crossed for you babe, hope he turns!!!!!

Good morning ladies.I hope u all keeping warm and getting heaps of beauty sleep.im sorry I been mia again.I have another bout of bleeding.im so over it.and exhausted to no end...nearly a mth of bleeding..and the dr says it cause of my PCOS..nevr had prob b4 so doesn't make sense..it was such a struggle to feel enthusiastic for my 28th bday yesterday..but as soon as my sweetie caitlyn sang 2 me,I knew I had 2 make the effort.god love 4.5 yr olds....I tell u girls with smaller kids only,,,enjoy it because they grow up way too fast..as we see from reading each others posts with all our news...its amazing how 2nd time round for me,parenting still is a learning curve.each child is so different and such a joy 2 watch grow and explore life.brody has us in fits so much with what he does...I have 2 say that its great news that u and dale have sorted things DANNI..well done for not giving in babe,its hard yards but well worht the effort in the long run sweetie!!! Looking for a new home at the moment as our house we're in now is sold. But thats all good as we were moving at the end of the lease anyway. We want a new house! Where ever we move next Im never moving again till we buy! We may even buy that one if all goes to plan. So we'll stay in it abaout 4-5yrs. I dont want to move to much I think the bubbas need a stable home ;) Yep bubbas!
HI everyone. Sorry I've not been around. Life is completely sh*t at the moment to be perfectly honest. Elena turns out to have the same food intolerances as Izzy, so within 15 minutes of a feed she is in horrible pain, completely rigid and screaming her little lungs out. She still won't take a bottle so there's nothing I can do to fix her. I've tried everything I can think of and wanted to throw myself off a cliff when my CHN said "oh yes. Some babies just won't take bottles"!!! FFS I don't want her on a bottle for my convenience. The poor little thing is suffering. I am so close to just waking up one morning and simply not feeding her until she is so damn hungry she takes the bottle. It has sounded so cruel to me in the past when people have suggested but I'm now thinking that's far less cruel than continuing on this way. My PND is completely out of control. Couldn't find any happy pills I could take that didn't make Elena even worse and the clinical psychologist I was referred to has an appointment for me, wait for it, on 22 September!!! Am waiting to hear back from a help line for the child expert place in Perth and also from the counselling service attached to the hospital where the girls were both born. Hopefully someone will have some answers. It was my birthday yesterday and DH and I had planned on having our first night out together (or any time at all for that matter) since Elena was born. Ended up not going because she just wouldn't stop screaming and I couldn't leave her with Mum when she was like that.
So, after that whinge aren't you all glad you haven't heard from me before now?!?!
Tan - sorry to hear your little man is breach. I'm sure he will turn for you though. He's going to be a good boy. Otherwise, I'll come over there and have serious words with him!
Otherwise, great to read that everyone seems to be doing very well. Will hopefully be back soon with some positive news.
Lulu- Im so sorry to hear what a hard time you're still having! It makes me so mad to think, you are obviously begging for help then people wonder why some mothers are pushed to the edge. Maybe if we listened to them in the 1st place some horrible things wouldn't happen. Not saying you'll hurt your bubbas but just upset that people are brushing it off when your a good enough mummy to ask for help in the 1st place :wall:
All I can say is when you feel like you're at breaking point, just keep thinking, "It's not going to last, this situation will pass."
I find it hard to believe there is nothing that can be done for your situation, Im sure other mummies have gone through the same thing, I just dont know where to tell you to turn Im so sorry :hug::(
Have you emailed, maybe Kelly from BB she may have some numbers and support groups that can help?
Oh Lulu you are having such a ***** time at the moment. I just wish I could reach through this computer and give you the biggest hug to reassure you that you are an amazing mum who is just having a rough time at the moment who needs some help to get through. Have you given Kass's suggestion of contacting Kelly and asking for some support numbers any thought? It was so hard for us to get Olivia to take a bottle and what we had to do was try different brands until we found on she would try and then I went out and Dave gave her a bottle when her feed was due and she had to either drink that or go without as the boobies weren't around. She drank it and we didn't look back. It was so hard as she cried for a while before she drank it. What type of bottles are you using?
Tan - YAY for maternity leave!!! Not long to go now before your little man is here. Can't wait to hear the announcement. Has anyone offered to post the details in here for you? I'm more than happy to do it for you. How's your gorgeous girl going? I am so jealous of all her hair. I wish I could put Livvy's hair in pigtails but her hair is far from it.

Oh Lulu, I have no idea what to say, cause I can only imagine how hard it must be for you. My lot are hard work and I had prtty big age gaps, I look at Angus and he is such a bubba still to me, I couldn't imagine having a newborn also. You are one selfless, fantastic Mum. You can only do what ou can do, and I think if you need to wean Elena for her own sake and yours, get your Mum over and let her offer the bottles. The only ones I could get Angus to take were the tommee tippy closer to nurture. The fat bottles, with a really soft teat. Buy some formula sachets and give it a whirl. Can your Mum stay and help you a bit? What about putting Izzy into daycare one day a week? I wish I was closer to not only give you a hug, but have a chat and a cuppa and just to let you know, you ARE doing a great job. Being a Mum is hard work. And you have been given an extra complication to deal with, but you did it with Izzy so you can do it again. But, you need to look after yourself also. I think our health system sux, we can't even help those in need when they need it most. All I can say is, take help when it is offered, and hassle that psychologist. Can you get a refferal for another one? Oh Lulu, seriously babe, come in here and vent away.

Oh no Lulu :hug: I was worried when I hadn't heard from you for a while and sounds like I had every right to be :( I can't believe you have to wait until 22 Sep, that just makes me soooo angry. Keep hassling hun and fingers crossed you get to see somebody sooner. Like the others said you ARE doing an amazing job and this will pass, fingers crossed it is sooner rather than later :pray: Come in here anytime and vent ok!

Lulu, you are doing such an amazing job. Have you tried your local baby health centre, they can often refer you to a government counsellor or perhaps a support group of women feeling the same as you are. The one I went to had a in house creche by some lovely women so that we could actually go to the support group. You could also try finding another pyschologist as mine saw me fairly quickly. Have you heard of Panda? Their helpline is 1300 726 306, they may be able to give you some strategies to get you through.
Your local doctor may be able to refer you to someone as well. There are lots of avenues for help, but unfortunately they aren't advertised. Get the help and don't feel bad leaving your two little ones if you need to help you feel better. PND is a long and ugly road (I'm still on it with Julian) so i can only imagine how you are feeling. Take care of yourself xox
Ohhh Lulu hun, I am so sorry things aren't going well. Lots of great practical advice above but just want to add that you should NOT stay away from here until things are better - we have all been worried and we care hun. I think of everyone on here as my friends, not the same as my IRL friends sure but friends nonetheless that will stick by each other. That means when things get hairy we aren't going to turn away or get annoyed etc but worry and help you through it... so please pop in and vent away, PM if you need to and just let it all out. :hug: I will never forget posting a pretty downer post early on when Iz was a few months old and a certain member (whose name starts with M ends in O and has abell in the middle ;) ) called me 5 mins later to see if I was ok, and was here visiting a few days later to see how we were.... I won't ever forget that, and it was just what I needed to not feel so alone and isolated. Just quickly on the bottle, Iz was a bit older yes, but she wouldn't take a bottle til 8 mths hun and she finally did when I was at work, their little sniffer dog noses know when mummy isn't there and she finally took it. I know El is a bit younger but a few hours will give you a break and it might mean she finally takes it. :hug: Good luck sweet and let us know how you are going.
I'm sorting out clothes today and yep might think about packing a few bags to take to hospital (is it really that time?). Thank goodness DH was home because I was up for all hours of the night on the loo for some odd reason (TMI sorry ladies) and he let me sleep in, because Iz decided 630 was a great time to get up - after staying in bed til 8 yesterday, cheeky poppet. :hello: to you all, will be back later. :)

I've not fed Elena today since a feed at 6.30 am. Mum and DH have had her all day and have been trying to get a bottle into her without any luck. We're going to persevere, but I really need to know how long we can hang out before we need to start worrying about dehydration or anything else becoming dangerous. She's had about 80mls of EBM throughout the day (most of it inconsequential drips from the bottle, but a few syringes too) but that's it. I've been told its ok to do this "you will take a bottle or nothing" thing, but I stupidly didn't ask just how long we can persist for. So, any thoughts? Thanks ladies. At the moment I figure its just like she's slept through the night so I'm not worried but . . .
I'm so sorry Lulu but I am of no help at all. I have absolutely no idea how long she can go. The only thing I can suggest is have you thought about a cup and see if she will take it from a cup? If you want to know how to do it just let me know. I'll check back in a while. You're doing a great job and your girls are so lucky to have you as their mum.
Lulu- I remember Annabelle being fussy at one point at about 4months old. I was worried she wasn't getting enough milk. I asked my MCHN how long she could go for and she said not to let it go for any longer then 24hrs. So not sure if thats any help but thats what I was told. I would give 132229 a call professional mid wives and have truely stopped me jumping off a cliff many a times. Ever time they gave me advice it worked! So please give them a call ;) You may have to wait a little while but it is so worth it
Lulu - could you call your MCHN? Are they of any use?? (I know some are worth their weight in gold and others are useless like mine ;) ) Or the number Kass mentioned could help.:hug: Hang in there hun, you are doing a wonderful job babe.
