Hi girls. I'm not even going to attempt personals today. This is my second consecutive day of not being able to put Isabelle down AT ALL! From 4am yesterday morning until 9pm last night either my hubby or I had to hold her. Thank God she then slept well last night but then its been the same again today, except that she is now crying all the time, whether we're holding her or not. Its so distressing seeing her like this and I've tried everything. My aunt-in-law was here visiting today and she brought her brother, who's a doctor. For the "colic girls", his suggestion is that I give up dairy completely for 7 days and see if that helps her tummy - apparently dairy stuff is a big culprit with lots of bubbies having colic. If it works, then I stay off it for a bit (with calcium supplements) then start gradually reintroducing it and see how she goes. Anything's worth a shot so I'm going to give it a go. Will let you all know how I go (gonna be hard not having any chocolate at all - its the only thing that gets me through days like today!)
Sorry for the selfish post - really not coping today and personals are a bit beyond me but needed to have a whinge to people who would understand! Hope you're all having a much better day than I am.
Lulu - sorry to hear that Isabelle wouldnt sleep for you - you must be exhausted you poor thing. Our Izzy has been a bit unsettled the last few days and its like she just wants cuddles to get to sleep - hard to resist. Dont worry about personals hun - thats what we are all here for and i think we are all struggling to keep up with absolutely everyone.
Sez - glad to hear your shopping trip went well! DH is palying soccer today and a gf is taking me out to the shops for a coffee and stroll - fingers crossed I have a successful trip too - Im so nervous about it!!
Well after our dream night two nights ago -we decided that we couldnt quite figure out how to get attached to mums nipples last night and proceeded to screw up our face, cry, rub our mouth around it while milk poured out all over the place....mmmmm. Up every 2 hours and trying to feed for an hour and a half wasnt really fun although I have to say I have been spoiled because feeding usually takes just over an hour max. Glad Queer eye was on at 430 this morning - instead of the usual infomercials. We need foxtel.
Im babbling now ladies sorry - gotta go work on my photo album while i have 5 minutes and then shopping (arrrrr soooo nervous!)
Hope you all have a great Saturday with your bubs!!
Oh yeah Tan, Foxtel is the best! I don't know how I would survive without it! Hope you manage to get some rest today, it's so hard when you have a bad night like that. Have a lovely time out, it really is fun showing off your newborn baby! Who does your DH play soccer for?
Lulu, I hope today is a better day for you . I've heard that about dairy with BF bubs. I'm trying not to have too much myself as I'm not sure if it bothers Nicholas a bit. Hopefully it works for you, it's worth a shot! Missing out on chocolate is hard though, hey?!
My boy is a star! I've had three lots of two hours sleep last night YAY! Of course, this morning he screams if I put him down, but you can't have everything . I really think he's going through a growth spurt or something.
Better dash, someone needs booby juice! Love Sez xoxo
We went out for dinner last night and Noah was a perfect angel and then fell asleep before the meal arrived and slept until we left, I timed the last feed perfectly! Bedtime for us was another story, my poor guy grunted and cried and pushed all night, Juz got up and did the bicycle on him 3 times to try and help him pass whatever he needed to pass. I bought some Brauers colic relief to see if it is wind giving him the problem but that hasn't fixed anything so I need to eliminate reflux, lactose intolerance which seems unlikely and another interesting one I found today Lactose Overload which is an oversupply of milk.
Lulu - The chocolate I can live without it is my large glasses of milk, lattes and yogurt that would kill me. I hope it works for you hun, also keep in mind that things that give you gas will also give the baby gas.
Tan - Enjoy your day with your gf today, it is hard to get used to taking a baby out and manouvering the pram about but getting the chance to show off your little one to the world makes it so much fun.
Sez - Congrats on getting sleep!!
Bugger, I have to dash, little man is about to howl, talk to you all later!!
This is only my second post in here!! Im sorry I havent been in more though I have been reading!!!
Im sorry there wont be any personals just at the moment..... Im finding it hard to keep up with everyone!! Hopefully we will all get used too it soon
I honestly dont have much to update...... lol. Jade is going really really well. We are finaly getting her wind issues undercontrol. But Im not sure if thats cause she is getting bigger now and learning to deal with it better or what, though we havent had to use infants friend for about a week and a half and she has been setteling well and sleeping. So thats really good!!
After her last feed at night she sleeps for at least 5 hours and if we get a good run up to 8 hours..... though that hasnt happened again for awhile! hahaha but hopefully soon enough!
She is starting to smile heaps and it just melts me heart!!! I love it!! She loves having showers as well I take her in for a shower of an evening and she falls asleep. hehe!
Well I must run, feed time isnt too far away and we have been finally getting into painting our house now that we have finally managed to get settled in here! SO need to clean up a bit first!
Gee we like quickies in here hey!!
Got back from shopping !! It was so good to get out - although for a while I didnt think we would make it. Izzy was unsettled again from 11 until about 130 feeding on and off not attaching properly etc. and finally I said to my gf lets just go and see what happens. She fell asleep in the car and thenI put her on my chest in her carrier and she slept for over an hour while we shopped! Just finished coffee and changed her and we left just as she cried for a feed! Whoo hoo! So after being so nervous Im now more confident about going out!
David Jones parents room helped too although I dont think the nappy bin had been emptied for a few days!!Gross.
Anyway - hope you have all had a great day!
BTW - how do you know if bub has colic???? I dont think Izzy does but want to be aware of what to look for?
Sarah- dinner sounds great hun - thats my next mission!!
T4AA - great to hear from you - and you lucky thing - 5 hours!!!! That would be amazing although I have to say the 3-4 I get most nights gets me through the day!
All other mums and bubs - a big hello - and sorry again for lack of major personals - I think we are all in the same boat and will go with the flow hey!!!
Catch you all soon!
Yep you guessed it, another quickie he he!
Ange can you tell my little girl to sleep for 5 hrs too please lol! The most I get is 2-3hrs, I'm hoping she will start to sleep longer soon. Fingers crossed!
I've also been nervous about going out, scared of forgetting to take something or that she will scream lol! I went shopping today with DH though and Elena was a little angel and slept the whole time. I'm not quite sure about going out by myself yet though but I'll have to on Tuesday if I want to make it to mother group.
I'm excited that all the May babies have arrived now, the last two made it just in time lol! Better go, enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies!
Tan - Glad that you got to get out and that Izzy slept the whole time you were out Its nice to get out of the house!! hehe
Lis- I know what you mean about being nervous and going out...... I dont go out much at all during the week and wait for Justin to be home on the weekend and do everything then. Although I had to take Jade to the Dr's the other week and I forgot the formula :s oops, lucky we got everything done before she was due for the next feed!! Though I felt terrible!! I find that if I have to be going out with her, I need to get everything orgainised the night before!!
Hello mummies!
Im glad we are mostly doing short posts too, cause while im reading everything i too dont really have time to do personals
Hendy and mike are in the bath together and ivy is asleep so ill just do a little post all about us! LOL
Ivy is such a placid baby, ive never really heard her cry so i cant complain there. She is so placid though that our feeding is a bit of a mission!!! She takes a few goes to actually latch onto the boob and then feeds for a bit, then falls asleep, then just stops sucking and looks at me, so our feed times are a bit lengthy. I got mastitis two days ago as she just isnt draining the breast efficiently. Im aware of this now though and making sure i put her back on the same boob. Im just used to Hendrix who was so efficent that he would drain the breast in a few minutes. Im on antibiotics though and that is helping.
We had her weighed today and she is 3.845kg! A weight gain of 700g since birth!
Our feed change settle during the night takes anywhere from 30 mins to an hour and she is waking every 3-4 hours.
Alright I will join the quickies. Last night was alright Noah had one 4 hour stretch of sleep and then was up for 3 hours then two 2 hour blocks of sleep. One day we will have real sleep again!
I asked last week if anyone knew anything about Baby Einstein DVD's because I was going to buy the set on Ebay. Well I bought the set and now the person is no longer a registered user. I really hope he sent it and didn't just take my money and run. He had 3 other positive feedbacks with other people purchasing the same set. I have to wonder if he got his Ebay membership cancelled for selling stolen items? The same set in the US retails for $375 and I bought it for $65 including postage, fell off a boat? Seems suss enough to me..
Still don't know what is going on with this appt in Melbourne for Noah's foot. Noahs Dr said he faxed the referral twice on Friday and the clinic says they did not get it again. Maybe I will just ask for the appt and see if I can bring the referral with me, I hate all this screwing around and I really don't want to wait 2-3 months to get an appt.
Hope all the May Mummies are enjoying their weekends!!!
Hey girls hope you are all having a good weekend and that all the bubs are behaving themselves!
Sarah I hope you get the baby einstein DVDs, does sound a bit suss to me too though. Sorry I've probably missed this but why do you need to take Noah to the doctor about his foot?
Heather great to hear from you hun. Wow Ivy does sound like a placid little thing! Total opposite to Elena lol. Elena can scream the whole house down, definitely a good set of lungs there lol! Ouch at your mastitis, I hope it clears up for you soon. How is Hendy going? I'm sure he will be a great big brother!
Ange glad I'm not the only one finding it hard to get out and about. I'm trying to always keep my nappy bag stocked so that I can just grab it when I'm leaving. I also worry about taking Elena out as the weather is cold here now and I don't want her to catch a cold. Ha ha I'm probably being way too overprotective already!
Well better go. I'm off to my parents for dinner tonight and need to start getting organised now! I'm so tired today too, Elena barely slept at all last night. She was wide awake most of the night!
Just a quick question though, is anyone doing any exercise? I feel so crappy about my post baby body and although I'd find it hard to fit in I think I should attempt at doing something. Not sure if I'm allowed to though or should I wait until my 6 week post natal appointment??? What is everyone else doing?
Hi everyone. Hope you're all having a good weekend. We've got a long weekend here and its beautiful weather - been outside at a friend's housewarming breakfast this morning. Her friend is the head chef at one of the 5 star hotels in Perth so brekkie was pretty damn yummy! Izzy has had a much better day today after three days that got continuously worse. Fortunately her nights are still good - she had 6 hours between feeds and then another 4 hour gap so today I'm feeling pretty good. Today has been good so far so let's hope that little stage is done for the moment.
Tan - good on you for going out. I found once you brave it the first time its not so bad. As for telling whether or not your Izzy is colicky, look for blue around her mouth - particularly her upper lip - as well as knees being drawn up to her chest and real discomfort when placed on her back. My Izzy much prefers being held upright, along my forearm, or over my shoulder - pressure on her tummy helps with the gas.
Taking advantage of Izzy's good mood and off to clean the balcony and alfresco now - they're disgusting but now that the garden's in I don't have an excuse to avoid it!
Lis, I cetainly hope the DVD's arrive. The seller did give me an express post code in an email and I am sure that someone wouldn't make stuff up like that. I am the eternal optimist. Noah has to see a specialist because he was born with clubfoot, something easily fixed anyway. As for exercise, I am only doing pelvic tilts on my fit ball and short walks until I get the ok at the 6 week check up. I had a c/s though so I want to be sure it is safe before I start with yoga and pilates. I think with vaginal you should be ok to start exercise as soon as you feel up to it as long as you start slow.
Lulu - Great to hear all was well with Izzy today. I am totally jealous of your gourmet brekkie
Does anyone else still get food cravings? I think mine have gotten worse in the last week

: bad grammar :(
Hey ladies!! - Sorry about the long post ladies!!!!!!
Sarah - I would see if you can just take the referral with you hun - good luck with the ebay thing - always a bit dicey isnt it - but hopefully if he gave you a tracking number you might be ok. Let us know how you go and what the dvds are like too!
Ive completely lost my appetite! I put on a total of 16kgs during the pg and have lost 13kg already! Go breastfeeding! Oh my lord although I had NO stretch marks and now have webs of them around my belly button! Grrr! AM frantically rubbing bio -oil and cocoa butter that i used during the pg - not sure it will help though.
Lulu - Hope Isabelle is good for you today so you get a rest - breakfast sounds fantastic!! Thanks for colic tips- Izzy likes being upright too and i hope you rest a bit after your cleaning!!
Lis - hope dinner at your parents went well -we went for lunch to mine yesterday- such a mission timing feeds etc! Although mum has my nieces old cot set up - and was so excited to use it!! Id love to do exercise but this damn c/s means I have to wait! Id love to get Iz out for a walk in the pram - all rugged up of course -how cold is it?!! Oh well only 3 weeks and 5 days to go!
Heather - yay on the weight gain and ihope the mastiitus clears up quickly for you...are you in alot of pain??
T4AA - I guess we will all get used to going out soon enough hey!! DH keeps rearranging the nappy bag - I had it all set up when I went shopping with my gf the other day - cleared out all the stuff he'd put in like sample shampoos and bath gel sachets from the bounty bag!!!! I dont think we need them in there!! Plus about 4 packs of bum wipes!!!! Hee hee - very cute though.
All other gorgeous mummies and bubbies- hope you are all going well!!!
Well we have had 2 nights of Isabelle sleeping for a 7 hour stretch - OMG - I freaked out the first night and DH had to get up to check her after 5hours to see if she was ok - last night it was from 630-about 1 - not the best timing and then she was unsettled for the rest of the night. During the day she is fussing about when feeding and not sleeping for more than 2 hour stretches - so much for the 4 hour pattern we seemed to be in. Is it true it can take until about 6 - 8 weeks to get into some sort of pattern? or is it longer??
My nipples are still so sore - I had the MCHN out the other day and not sure if I mentioned but she didnt hink it was thrush because Isabelle has no symptoms at all on her mouth and teh pain I have doesnt add up so not sure what the hell is going on. My right is still so sore although I have been able to feed without the sheild for a while - might be more so becasue I feel like it confuses her.
She also fusses about my nipple - shakes her head, wont latch on properly - starts to suck and cries etc during the day (and last night) I have soo much milk she is practically drowning in it and my nipples are out there - so not sure what the problem is. Hopefully it will just settle over time beacause I have to say Im pretty over it right now - not a great way to be when feeding my precious girl.
Well better go - its my first day home without DH here - have managed a shower and breakfast while shes been down so thats a great start!
Hope you all have a grand day!! Big hugs to bubs!

: Had to apologise for the long post!!!
Lulu - Yum I always love a good brekkie! I'm totally jealous of your Izzy going 6hrs between feeds, what a little champion. I hope Elena follows in her footsteps soon!
Sarah - No I don't have any food cravings anymore but I am still eating a lot! The midwives at the hospital told me that bf mums often eat more than pg women. Don't think I'm eating as much as before but still seems like a lot lol! Good luck with Noah's doctors appointments!
Tan - OMG I hear you on the nipple soreness and Elena also fusses and won't latch on properly. Like you I have heaps of milk so I'm not sure what the problem is?? I was going to ask my maternal/child nurse tomorrow. Funny that Elena feeds fine on my left boob but gets really cranky on my right side. I have to express from that side, so frustrating! Yay on your weight loss! I also put on 16kg during pg and have lost about half of that. I hate my belly though, it looks floppy lol! Going to try and head out for a walk today.
Tan, glad to hear it's not just me.....I've lost my appetite as well. I normally love my food, and being at home with all these wonderful food parcels would usually keep me very happy but nothing really interests me. I am making sure I eat (as does Andy and my mum ), but it's a bit of an effort TBH.
I was going to do a nice long post here, but Nicholas just decided that he didn't want to be lying down anymore....so he's in my arms. He should be asleep! Never mind, I love the cuddles Wish us luck girls, we're off to the MCHN this afternoon, and I really hope that he has put on a good amount of weight. Hopefully I'll be able to jump on and do personals after that!
Forgot to mention earlier too - great news!! My GF who i was meant to be bridesmaid for (Isabelle came on the day of the wedding!!) is pregnant and due on the 3rd January! Sooo excited for her!! Just wanted to share!
Ive totally not lost my appetite, im eating like a pig! I dont have any cravings just eat whatever!! LOL I am back in most of my pre preg clothes though so its ok i suppose.
sez - good luck with the weigh in today, i hope he has gained heaps and heaps!
tan - the mastitis really hurt, but its been better for a couple of days now (thanks for asking) ive still got the rest of the course of antibiotics to take though. It sounds like you are doing really well having had a shower and brekkie, i hope the rest of the day pans out just as well for you. On the BF matter, i just think that BF can take a while to sought itself out. If i remember with Hendy things settled down around 6 weeks or so. Im going to see a lactation consultant next week as although things are going pretty well, i feel like she may not be latching on very well sometimes (hence the mastitis). Once BF soughts itself out though it is so easy. Hang in there.
