Hi gorgeous mums and bubs.
Danni and Sarah- its bad when you freak out like that hey - the other night i was sitting on the couch watching TV and Izzy was in bed...I heard this noise - it sounded like she was wheezing in a really high pitch and choking..I sprinted from the couch to the nursery (havent moved that fast in 10months!!;)) and skidded into her doorway - and my angel was fast asleep and fine. Turns out bats - yes bats were fighting out in a tree in the driveway and making a racket that sounded like her choking. Gave me hell of a fright!
I want to come to Horsham too!!!!!
Sarah- sorry to hear about your day - must have been so tiring and draining for you. Funerals are so hard arent they - especially when its someone young and so unexpected. :hug:The appointment you had sounds weird? I would definately go back and see the specialist - hopefully he will confirm what this guy said for you. Big hugs to Noah!
Lulu - hope the bottle feeding gets easier hun... I still havent quite worked out when and how to express and when to get DH to feed etc... just bfing is hard enough at the moment! It is getting easier though thank goodness and my nipple pain is SLOWLY getting better. Hope the advice you get from your other thread helps too.
Kelly - hope the anti-biotics are kicking in for you and giving you some relief too. Hope you DH is ok too with the work situation, sounds really cra**y hun.
Lis - not sure if you posted already but how did you go at the BF clinic??? Did you get some help??
Kristen - did you call that LC and sleep expert? Just wondering how you went - I asked my friend but she didnt know aout cost etc... I think Im going to just get some help at the clinic this week with feeding.
All other May mummies let see if I can name you all -first attempt - HUGE apololgies if I forget anyone! Ash, Rae, T4AA, Tara,Beck, Heather, Sez, Lee, Mel, Mel, Dan and Jan hope you are all going well- sorry about the slack personals - cant read back any further!
Well my missy moo is stirring so have to be quick - we have been really unsettled again last night and today- her tummy is kind of bloated all the time - is this normal??? Also I think maybe Im not burping her enough although i can keep her upright for 20 minutes or more and rub/pat and only get the tiniest burp or fart..any suggestions??? I think this is why she wont feed properly at times (like today) and why she vomits a bit??
Anyway ladies - better go attempt to feed again... have a great Saturday- How good is this weather Melbournites- Im hoping to get to DHs' soccer game today and get some fresh air!!

Hello!!
Wow what a crazy couple of days. I can't believe I went from feeling great to feeling absolutely terrible. Mastitis is just the worst and it's made me quite sick and very down. I couldn't stop crying yesterday and there were more tears this morning. It's not pleasant. On top of that, the pain in my boob has been excruciating!! Thankfully we got onto it pretty quickly so the antibiotics should kick in by tomorrow. I've been taking lots of panadol to ease the pain too. Not really what we need right now but hopefully we'll get through it. I keep telling Luke that at this rate, he'll be an only child - LOL.
Danni - I'm closer to Leeming than Cannington but can definitely make the trip out there to meet up!!! I got most of my baby things in Cannington - its not that far. I'm closer to the coast and Fremantle!! It will be great to meet you guys!!
Lulu - I'm so sorry to hear the first bottle was a bit of a disaster, sometimes it takes a while, so stick with it. We were really lucky with Luke - he'll take ANYTHING!!! I'm using the Tommie Tippie bottle and teat and it's really great. I used an Avent one at my SIL the other day and Luke didn't like it anywhere near as much. The tommie tippie one is much more like the nipple and I found the milk came out easier too. The one I use has little dimples around the bottom of the teat, if that makes sense - it's really great and I highly recommend it. It came with the breast pump but I'm sure you can buy them separately too. Maybe give that a go. We'll have to try and catch up in the next couple of weeks too!!
Sarah - How confusing about Noahs foot - I hope you get it all sorted out soon!! It would be so great if he doesn't need treatment though!!
Lis - Getting mastitis was one of my worst fears too and of course it had to happen!!! I still can't believe it and don't know how we'll ever get through it!! God help me when we decide to have another bub!!
Tan - How are you honey?? I hope all is going well and you're getting on top of everything. Its certainly not an easy task being a Mum - I've been finding it all a bit much lately!!!
Hmm, thats about all I can manage atm. I do hope all the other lovely mummies are all well and that the 'little ones' are behaving themselves.
Well, I think it's time for another antibiotic, so I'd better keep on top of that!! Luke has had a bit of a cold lately too - he's been really blocked up, it's just so heartbreaking when they're not well but we've been using some saline drops which seem to be helping a little.
Take care.

YAY!!! Izzy is taking a bottle from her daddy as I type. I got one of the Tommy Tippee closer to nature ones and she's glugged her way through 120mls now without any sign of slowing up - my little girl is a guts!! Obviously going to have to express lots and lots and lots . . .
-
lulu: yay!!! good girl :D
Kelly: glad you can make it! Will remind you closer to the day!
Tan: Why dont you come up for a weekend in horsham? I was gunna get a motel room for the night and you guys could do the same? How much fun would that be. Drop the blokes at the pub, and us mums and bubs could go shopping!!! :confetti:
-
Hello mummies,
Lulu- I'm glad to hear she took the bottle. I know the feeling of not being able to be away from bubs for more than a couple of hours, it feels very restrictive. I haven't got my act together with expressing, I find it hard to find the time to do it.
Kelly - sorry to hear that you have mastitis. I have it too at the moment and I know it isn't pleasant. Have you tried gently massaging your breast towards the nipple (especially the hard lumps). This will help unclog the blocked ducts. It is essential to keep feeding through the mastitis to clear it. My early childhood centre told me to feed off the affected breast and express the other. Baby is more efficient at sucking. I know it hurts like crazy but give it a go. Hot packs can help too. The antibiotics will work a treat within a day or so. I had to have a repeat prescription as the first one didn't clear it up entirely. I felt really sick so don't feel bad if you cry alot, I did. I ended up going to my mum's place a few times for help as I couldn't cope feeling so sick on my own. I hope you feel better soon :) the one thing i learned with this is to make sure i completely drained one breast before offering Julian the other. I'll keep trying the same breast until he gets upset then I know it's time to offer the other.
Sarah - that sounds confusing, it is such a long way to drive I can understand why you would want to make sure you had to. It would be great if Noah didn't have to have the treatment. Keep us posted. I freak out at lots of things too. I constantly check if he is breathing, especially at night. I am terrified of SIDS and think about it often. I guess it's normal for us new mums.
Lis - I'm getting about the same amount of milk as you with expressing. Apparently the milk supply is greater in the mornings as we've supposedly 'rested' so I have yet to test this theory out. Julian's relfux has improved over the last two weeks. He's now nearly seven weeks old and it is so much better than at 4 weeks. Hopefully you will find the same thing.
A BIG hi to everyone else. I know Julian is going to wake up any minute and I'd love a cup of tea before then!
We are attempting to go to my brother's 25th birthday dinner next weekend so I have to express a few feeds. I'm definitely scared of being away from him so we'll see how it goes. I'm finding it depressing not fitting into any of my pre-pregnancy pants :( I fit into the tops but not the pants. I have 7 kilos to lose and it seems like a mountain to overcome. Does anyone else feel the same? I'm going to go out and buy a few pairs so I feel better about it. Hopefully this helps.
Julian has been great the last few days. Though i am sure it won't last for long. We had both his and my appointment this last week. All went well. I found going into the city terribly disheartening. Going aroud with prams is so restrictive! So many places have stairs or no lift etc. I found it hard not being at home where it is so easy to breastfeed as soon as he started to cry for it - I had to find a parent room and he screamed the whole way there. How do we travel with expressed breastmilk that is ready to be fed? Or does it need to be refridgerated and then warmed up when out? I have an avent therma bag, has anyone used one of these? Going to the bathroom when out also never occured to me would be difficult but I ended up holding until DH met up with me. The toilet in the parent room was tiny! How has everyone else gone with their outings?

Hi girls :)
Thank you all so much for the lovely welcome back. Sorry i haven't been around much but i don't get too much online time these days with 2 gorgeous girls to look after and frequent Drs appointments.
Heather - life with a newborn is certainly a hell of a lot easier the second time around. Paul and i are just so relaxed about everything cause we just don't fret over every little sound, reaction, routine...like we did with Ella. Ella is loving being a big sister and is very cooperative. I'm sure Hendy is loving little Ivy the same way. I'm absolutely loving having a newborn in the house again!!!
Lis - i hope things go well with the LC. I take my hat off to you for persevering...you're doing a great job. You're prob already doing this but i have found that drinking a HEAP of water frequently throughout the day helps keep my supply up and regular.
Danni - sorry to hear that Mason has reflux. Ella had it quite severe when she was a few months old. Nothing seemed to work - not even her meds - so our early childhood nurse referred us to an osteopath and after several very gentle sessions (Ella slept through them - he pretty much just massaged her head, neck and back in certain places) she was totally cured and a completely different baby. I highly recommend looking into it.
Ash - you weak - ppffttt!!!!! Don't you dare be so hard on yourself sweetie - you're doing an awesome job with Blakey despite all the obstacles you've faced. By the way i lve his new ticker pic! I can see a lot of you in him.
Sarah - i hope that the Dr was correct with saying that Noah's foot will correct itself - how great will that be! Sorry to hear you had to travel so far for the appointment though.
Mel - how's Isobella going? We'll have to try and catch up soon.
Lulu - i also use Avent brand for my bottles for my EBM but have also used Chuchu teats with bith girls cause that's what was recommended by the NICU's the girls were in. It's a great teat cause it's the most similar to the action used by a baby when sucking a nipple. You can get them from most Chemists.
Jan - you're so right - places are certainly not pram friendly! It's sooooo frustrating. As for b/f in public i got fed up with trying to make my way to a parents room with a hungry child so i always carry a light muslin wrap which i drape over my shoulder then sit wherever i'm comfortable and feed. I'm fortunate that both my girls don't mind where they are fed...just as long as their food is provided!
Kelly - sorry to hear about the mastitis - you poor thing. I hope it clears up soon
Alex - how's Toby going? Is he all recovered now? I'd be interested in hearing your birth story since we were both hoping for VBACs and ended up with c/s. My birth story is in my preg journal if you're interested.
Hi Ange, Tan, Beck and Tara - has anyone heard from Lindy? I hope she and her little boy (i'm presuming she's had him by now) are happy and healthy.
And hello to everyone else - sorry i'm still struggling to remember everyone's names...will eventually catch up - lol.
-
I am so determined to do a decent post in here! He is stirring, so I might end up typing one handed LOL!
I have been soooooo busy, I just don't know where the time goes! I feel very happy and relaxed about things (mostly ;)), but I just don't seem to have the time I had when we brought him home. I guess it's because he's 'woken up' now, and is like a real baby LOL. I do pop in here every day to see how everyone is going, but I must confess that the last couple of days I haven't kept up as well, so I'll skip personals today. I promise to get back on them in the next couple of days!
Nicholas is doing so well! His sleeping is very much hit and miss, some nights are great, some are $hit, but we're surviving. I took him into bed with us for the first time yesterday to get an extra hour which was great. Tried it again this morning with absolutely no success! Bugger! Feeding is going really well now, I love it so much. I just hope he continues to gain good amounts so we can ditch the bottles. He's only having two top ups a day now anyway, both only about 30mls, so it's not too bad.
I guess my only issue is that I feel very much like I'm doing a great job (I hope!) of being Nicky's mum, but I'm failing a bit in the other parts of my life. Please don't tell me I'm alone there! I think being cooped up with this bloody foot doesn't help.......well, it's more knowing that I've got at least another five weeks like this!!!!!
I'm also a bit worried that I've developed an infection where my sutures were.....yuck! Of course, it's the long weekend, and my Ob is OS ATM anyway OF COURSE. I think I'll wait and see how it is until Tuesday morning. Andy is out ATM anyway, so there's nothing I can do today. Oh the joys!
Rae, lovely to see you back with your beautiful girls, safe and sound!
Kelly, so sorry to hear about your crappy week, hope you're feeling better soon.
Big hi to everyone else, hope you're all well.
Love Sez xoxo
-
Just wanted to quickly pop in and tell you that Blake weighs 11lb 3oz now!!!!! Go my lil chubby bubby!!!!!!
-
About to go shopping for a new camera but Danni and Tan it would be awesome for you to come up to Horsham, just be sure to rug up ;) We must make a plan!
Will be back for personals hopefully soon!
-
Hi Sez - great to hear that the feeding is going well!
Ash - OMG - WTG Blakey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah - enjoy your day out shopping - hope you find the perfect camera.
-
Just a quick one here too - hope all you mummies and bubs are having a great weekend!!
Anyway - we had a good night - after being unsettled yesterday - Izzy has a bad rash all over her tum, around her neckline and even on her head - its not bothering her too much but I went to the dr anyway who thinks its a reaction to heat/cold/soaps etc...and to go back in 2 days time- she said it was milia but when I looked that up in my baby bibles it said that milia is whiteheads on the head and face and this is a red rash? Cant help but worry even though she is not that fussed about it.
We had visitors for lunch today who have a 15 month old - Al was so funny asking lots of questions like when did he walk, when did he get teeth, when can they eat food etc - you could see he was just trying to imagine what its going to be like when Isabelle gets a bit bigger!!!
Ash- way to go on the weight gain not so little Blake!!
Sez- you are definately not alone - just when Im feeling good about one thing something else gets to me..yesterday I went out with two girlfriends and they were talking about work and it felt really weird that I dont have a job (paid:rolleyes:!!) and Im still finding the full time mum thing hard to deal with. You must feel so housebound though you poor thing, I shouldnt whinge about a couple more weeks (if that - I might drive sooner)
Maybe once I start driving I could pop in to see you and Nicholas - you are in Croydon arent you?? I often go to mums in Kilsyth - so close!!
Sarah - how did your shopping go? and I think a coutnry meet up would be great - BTW where does Dan live?? Shes rural too isnt she??
Hi everyone else - and enjoy your long weekend if you get one!!:D
Well Im off to see if I can snooze while miss is asleep - going out for lunch tomorrow with friends who are due in 4 weeks - will probably have to feed while out - first time!!! Wish me luck!
Talk soon!!
-
Tan - The shopping went great! Harvey Norman had a Fuji FinePix A800 for $199 and I am stoked with it so far, much better than my old one. I think Dan is in the North East part of Vic if I am not mistaken.
I am going mad!!! Noah has Lactose Overload and I don't know what to do! The only thing that makes him feel better is to feed which makes the problem worse. He won't take the dummy either which I am relieved about really. I find it hard because he cries for the boob and I don't want him to cry even for a minute but I just let him cry for 5 then and it breaks my heart.
Does anyone else find themselves arguing with their partner more now that baby is here? I hate it!!!
-
ARgh, I've hardly had a chance to drop in lately. Three kids is a hell of a lot busier than just two...and the washing!
We're in the middle of this wild weather as well, so we have had numerous blackouts and flooding in the bottom floor of our house (only the laundry luckily). Gotten caught in a horrific storm on Friday when we were in the car with bubba, were pelted with hail for 45 minutes unable to go anywhere, parked up the other end of that beach where the container ship ended up getting stuck (if you've been watching the news).
Power is on and off so I'm just jumping on quickly while it's on to say hi and sorry to not have caught up. I'm looking forward to a quiet week this week, we havne't had one yet.
Leo is going great, very unsettled at the moment though. Wants to eat constantly, especially at night. Wants to sleep in our bed too, though can't blame him with the power outages and there being no heating. The crying has begun after a quiet first 2 weeks. He's a darling though and I'm loving it, just very tired. If DP wasn't doing all the housework and meals, I'd be going crazy. Three kids just takes so much time!
Take care girls!

tan: dan is in the other direction :( I odnt know how far it is to horsham from her place though. Hopefully she pops in soon!
WTG Ash! Mason has just hit 5 kilos hehe i cant believe it.
tara: hope the weather eases up for you guys
sez: you sound like youre doing a great job! cant wait to meet up soon.
Tan: i couldnt get an earlier appointment so I am still coming to the area next friday. So let me know if its still ok if I pop in for a bit :)
sarah: yes we certainly do argue a lot atm. It is hard work being parents and especially for dads who have no idea. i have to remind myself to take more deep breathes and walk away

Hello!!
I hope everyone is wonderfully well. Luke is sound asleep and I was so set on doing some personals but after sitting here for about 20 minutes catching up on everything, I'm exhausted, so please forgive me once again for being so slack.
Wow, we had a such a crazy day yesterday - poor Luke's blocked nose is getting worse and he wasn't a happy boy yesterday - than god Ryann was home to see what I have to deal with most days. He was such a sweety and let me sleep in too, which was the only thing that got me through the day!! Last night was terrible too, I was so sure Luke was going to stop breathing. He was gasping for air and quite histerical but finally worked out that he could breathe through his mouth too - cleaver little pumpkin!!! He ended up sleeping pretty well considering the blocked nose and all but feeding was a different story, he struggled quite a lot. It just breaks my heart - god knows how I'll cope if he actually gets sick - LOL. It's just a blocked nose!!!!
Sez - I'm with you honey - I feel like I'm doing a really great job of being Luke's Mum (well I hope I am) but everything else is suffering. I feel like such a bad wife and have been so grumpy to Ryann. Its horrible and I'm desperately trying to change it but its all just so hard. I'm just so lucky that he's such a wonderful husband!!
Tara - The storms over there sounds just horrible, I hope you're all keeping safe and I'm praying you don't get any more flooding.
Jan - I'm so sorry to hear you have mastitis aswell, its just the worst. Although the anitbiotics have kicked in for me already and I'm starting to feel much better. My problem once again though is the nipple. It seemed to clear up but is back again, so I'm obviously doing something wrong on that side - I guess Luke isn't attaching correctly, so I'll have to get that sorted out. If it wasn't for the damn sore nipple, all would be starting to get so much easier - its just the worst. I dread feeding on that side again and it really gets me down! I'm in agony for the whole feed. There's no cracks or bleeding on it either - it just seems to be a swollen (compared to the other nipple) and almost looks like theres a white blister on the end?? Anyone know what that could be???
Big hello's to everyone else - I really am sorry for the lack of personals!!
Well, I've got an appoitment with the health clinic nurse today, so I'll get her to have a look at Luke and his blocked nose and hopefully get some help with my NEVER ENDING right boob problems. If only the right one could be like the lefty, everything is just perfect with good old lefty and I LOVE feeding on that side!!! Its really getting me down.
I'm also feeling really sore around my c/section incision today. I have no idea what I've done but it's really uncomfortable. Luckily a friend is picking me up to take me to my appointment as I think I'm still a long way from being able to drive. All the joys hay!!! Lucky my boy is so adorable, he makes it all worth it!!!
Take care.

Well I've been trying to get back online since friday lol! I finally made it....
Elena has been really unsettled this weekend with her colic, poor little thing. We've been using the brauers colic relief but it doesn't always help. Thankfully last night she was a bit better and slept from 11pm to 3am and then from 5am to 8am, that's the best night we've had since coming from hospital!
I got some help with bf and it seems that Elena is so unsettled during feeding because of her upset tummy. Also for some reason she doesn't like to attach properly on my left boob. Anyway I'm still perservering and hoping that she'll get better as she gets older and I've been expressing from my left side if it gets too sore. Aaarrghh its so time consuming though!
Rae great to hear from you and hope you are recovering well from your c/s. Does Tia have to go to the doctors often still?
Ash yay for Blakey, what a champ! He is such a cutie and I agree that he looks like his mummy!
Kelly I hope little Luke's blocked nose clears soon, poor bub. I can sympathise with the sore boob except my left nipple is sore. Between us we have a perfect set lol!
Tara those storms sound nasty, hope the weather settles down soon. We finally got some rain here today yay. OMG don't know how you cope with a newborn and two other kids, I'm finding one hard enough!
Danni yay for Mason hitting 5kg, go the super booby juice hey!
Hey to everyone else, sorry can't finish personals as little miss is screaming. He he she has a great set of lungs!
-
Hi everyone. Will try to catch up on personals but my little princess is due to wake up any minute wo will see how I go. Actually she was due to wake up 2 hours ago but Im not about to complain about her having a 4 hour sleep!!! I've got so much done this morning its been great, although not sleeping for me unfortunately!
Danni - yay on Mason hitting the 5kg mark. What a whopper! So lovely he's getting so big after starting off such a tiny little man. And yep, Carousel is fine for me. Just let me know where and when and I'll be there.
Kelly - glad to hear your mastitis is clearing up a bit and hopefully the nurse can help today with the right boob problem. Is the white stuff a little blister maybe from Luke attaching incorrectly? I got one like that the other night - Izzy was so hungry and was rushing attaching and I was so tired that I just gave in and let her keep feeding, even though it hurt. My own stupid fault, but the blister wasn't nice. I hope your incision heals quickly too - will make such a difference for you when you can get out and about.
Jan - yay for Julian being a good little man lately. And yep, I hear you on the pram thing. You quickly realise how much you took for granted shopping in the past when you could just "duck in here". I haven't had the toilet issue yet, but I'm feeding Izzy in cafes etc with a muslin wrap over my shoulder. Funnily enough, I'm more comfortable feeding her in public in front of strangers than I am in front of friends and DH's family.
Tara - I hope you're keeping safe in those storms. They look terrible on the news. You deserve a medal for coping with three kiddies!
Lis - sorry to hear you've had a tough weekend with Elena. Poor little princess. It breaks your heart when they're so distressed and there's nothing you can do. I can't offer any more advice unfortunately - Izzy has relatively good days or shocking days where she screams in my arms for hours and nothing helps. Hopefully they'll both grow out of it sooner rather than later.
Tan - hope you have a lovely lunch. Don't stress about feeding in public - you'll be absolutely fine.
Sarah - sounds like you had a lovely shopping day - and lots of new pictures on your new camera for us all!!
Ok, Izzy's awake. Better go.
-
Hi everyone!!!
Just wanted to come in quickly to say I havent gone missing!! Im just really busy at the moment and this Wednesday we are finally laying my nephew Phoenix to rest. (the girls who were in my belly belly group would know the story) This Wednesday would have been his due date :( Im having mixed emotions about it all, but think it will be easier once his plaque and ashes have been put in place!
Im thinking about buying Jade a little charm bracelet and trying to buy a Phoenix bird to put onto it. Just for something for her, something so she know she had a cousin and that he will always be with her. . . . . . .
Other then that Jade is going really well I have nothing more to report feeding and sleeping well!!
Oh I went and saw Pink on Friday night with my mum, first night out since Jade was born!! Had an EXCELLENT time and Jade didnt even know I was missing!! LOL!!
Hope you are all going ok and Ill be back to catch up on everything once things settle down again :)
