Hi mums and bubs :)
Lis - Tia is fussier on my left breast too and that nipple often gets sore. I've found the footy hold works well with getting her to attach better on that side. Hope you can find something that works for you both soon.Tia will still require fortnightly appointments for a while but will hopefully end up only needing monthly cardiologist appointments shortly til her heart surgery.
Tara - hope that crazy weather eases soon - must be making life very hectic for you guys.

Hi Guys,
Just had to pop back in to say that all went well at our Clinic appointment this morning. Luke now weights 4.62kg (and he's not even 4 weeks old yet)!!! The big boofer has been putting on over 200gm per week, so the Clinic Health Nurse was absolutely wrapped with that!!! Nothing new to report on the right boob saga - I had to feed from that side while we were there, which was perfect, but she seemed to think Luke was attaching correctly and all looked perfect. She couldn't work out why I'm in so much pain, so I'm following up a LC. Have discovered a friend of a friend, so I will know more tonight - hopefully she can come see me SOON as it's so painful. Still, it's good to know that I'm doing everything right.
Also asked her about Luke's blocked nose and we're doing everything we can there too - so hopefully it clears soon.
Lis - PMSL at our boob issues and having the perfect pair between us - it's sooo annoying. Sorry to hear about Elena's colic too, that certainly makes life even more difficult. I hope it starts getting a little better REAL soon.
Lulu - I'll have to wait and see what the LC says as all looked good from the Health Clinic Nurses point of view - its so frustrating!!! So pleased to hear that Izzy is being such a good girl. Luke has been sleeping really well today too - must be this nice weather we're having!!
Ange - So sorry to hear about your nephew, it sounds just awful and I hope all goes well on Wednesday for you. I'll be thinking of you! The charm bracelet for Jade sounds just beautiful too - what a lovely idea.
Well, as I mentioned Luke has been an absolute angel today - he's spent most of the day sleeping. I hope it doesn't mean he'll want some 'awake' time tonight!!! I'd love a good nights sleep and really should be taking advantage of all this sleep right now - I'm just terrible when it comes to daytime sleeps!! Last night, he fed at 7.30pm but we didn't get him settled and asleep until 9.30pm (because of the blocked nose) but he slept through until 1.30am - that's 6 hours between feeds - if only I'd been able to get that amount of sleep!!! I did manage nearly 4 hours though, which is really great for us!!
Anyway, hopefully I'll get hold of the LC very soon and once this nipple problem is sorted (if it ever does), I'll be feeling wonderful again!!
Hope everyone is well.

Well it is the end of the weekend so I better tackle the personals, I thought it was Sunday today, how fast did the long weekend go?
Kelly - Great news that Luke is gaining steadily! I hope his blocked nose clears up soon, the poor thing. :( Is your pain on the incision or would you say it is muscular? I have some muscular pain above my incision and it isn't pleasant, I guess I must have twisted my body without thinking, maybe you have done the same? Make sure to rest up.
T4AA - Sorry to hear about your little nephew. the charm bracelet sounds like a sweet idea. Glad you had fun at the Pink concert!
Lulu - Hooray for getting things done, I had a moment to do that at midnight last night and I jumped for it. I will have to upload some more photos at some stage.
Lis - Sorry to hear that Elena is suffering from colic, make sure to invest in a good pair of earplugs.
Danni - I will have to remember to take big breaths  I talked to Juz about being more open with what we are feeling and we were able to get a bit off of our chests I think and basically agreed that things will get snappy sometimes but not to take it to heart. I hope it works but it feels better to have talked.
Tara - I read in the paper about the storms, poor thing! I hope it settles down and you don't have anymore power outages. I don't know how you manage with 3!
Tan - I hope Izzy's rash has cleared. From what I have read, millia is whiteheads too. Maybe the doc had a long day.
Ashlee - Way to go on Blakes weight gain!!!
Sez - You are not alone, with a little one taking all of our time it is impossible not to let other things in our life slip. Don't stress too much, everyone assures me it passes eventually.
Jan - I agree it is so hard to go anywhere with a pram and people don't help you anymore these days if they see you struggling either and it gets so frustrating, not that I expect a stranger to help but it would be nice wouldn't it?
Hello to the rest of the lovely mummies! Dinner is being served, Juz has been so good with cooking dinner the last 4 weeks, I feel really lucky to have him. Hope everyone is having a great night!!
-
Hi all - no personals right now - too exhausted sorry!
We went out with friends for lunch today and I fed in public - whoo hoo! Have to say it ws quite tricky - as we were in a restaurant and although I was discreet with a shawl - i got a few stares - boo hoo to them, honestly! I was quite proud - and have bought a sling on ebay tonight- we have a ryco carrier which is good but a sling would be easier i think.
We used our pram for the first time too and went to ikea too so that was great.
At one stage I got her out of the pram though and carried her and shes sooo heavy, and even though we had our carrier i couldnt be bothered with all the buckles and clips etc, whcih is why i think a sling is going to be easier. Danni saw your post about slings too - I got the chickadee one - it looks quite simple -just a peice of fabric really...will let you know how i go!! And looking forward to meeting you and Mason on Friday - will email you my address!!
Isabelles rash is still hanging around a bit - going back to see what the dr thinks again tomorrow - Al thinks its just heat/soap/ "getting her complexion"... but i still want to get it checked.
Shes also sooo unsettled from about 5-7 every night - I feed, change, talk, etc and she jsut wont go down...so feed, change bath...... nope so feed change etc - Is this cluster feeding???? Finally she will fall asleep on the bb.... happens every night and Im not sure how to change this - we cant do anything from about 5 until anywhere from 7-9 some nights - Al takes turns nursing and rocking and walking to try and settle her.. Anyway - hopefully we will find a solution..
Im babbling now sorry - hope you have all had a great weekend, talk soon!
-
Ange - wishing your family the best for Wednesday and will be thinking of your precious angel nephew. I think the bracelet for Jade is a beautiful, special idea. Big hugs to you all
-
Hi everyone! I can't believe it, Nicholas has been asleep for two hours! That is a massive achievement for us today. He has been so unsettled the last few days, and has hardly slept at all today, until now. It's amazing how much you can get done when you've got two hands free, isn't it LOL! Thank goodness Andy was home today, he paced the hall with him this morning while I had a shower etc.
Kelly, I hope you have luck seeing that LC soon, I'm sure she'll be able to help you out. If it is nipple vasospasm you'll need someone to give you a hand, but on a positive note, I have a friend who had it, and she is still BFing very succesfully now her little man is 7 months! She had a LC come out, and it made a huge difference for her, I hope it doesn the same for you :) Luke is just looking so gorgeous, I'm so glad you're enjoying him so much!
Tan, have you got the book 'Baby Love'? It has a fantastic little section on the 'unsettled period'. Just reading it made me feel so much better, and more relaxed about what Nicky is doing in the evenings. It definitely sounds like Isabelle is cluster feeding, which is very normal at that time  Sometimes Nicholas does it for five or six hours! Very exhausting, but well worth it when he then sleeps for five hours.........IF he sleeps that long hehe. And I have to say, I love BFing so much it's not too much of a chore for me. I just don't get anything else done! WTG on BFing in public, it's a good feeling!
Gotta dash, he's awake, BBL! Love Sez xoxo

Hey Guys..
Sorry I've been MIA lately but have been so busy with my 2 little men and Nick has been home this long weekend too but he has been hogging the computer!!!
Toby is going great guns and getting bigger everyday! He is now on formula because I have had alot of trouble breastfeeding. I got thrush, then blocked ducts, then mastitis twice and in the end I was just sick of being in pain and I couldn't look after Toby or Jack properly and I felt like an awful mummy... But I had a week's worth of expressed milk in my freezer so Toby had all that and he's having no probs on the formula and gulps it down!!
Anyway Rae, so glad you and Tia are home and going so well too!!! My birth story is pretty much the same as yours except I didn't have an epidural and I had to have a c/s because on my last internal (after 12 hours of labour), Toby had popped out of my pelvis and had started to turn sideways!!! And we have no idea why??? So they gave me another 1/2 an hour to see if he would pop back in, but he just kept turning. So I had to have a c/s cause in the end he prob would have turned breech!! But hey , we gave it a go and that's all you can do!! And both our bubba's are happy and healthy and that's all that matters!!
Tan and Sez, I hear you on the cluster feeding!! Toby seems to do it every night too.. I'm sure they are just stocking up for the big night ahead!!
Ash, WTG on Blake's huge weight gain!!What a chubba bubba!!!
Ange, thinking of you and your family on Wednesday babe and I think the bracelet is a beautiful idea and lovely for Jade to have something to remind her too...
Danni and Sarah, yeah I get snappy with DH too but we always talk it out.. He gets grumpy if he's tired too and can be snappy to me, but all in all, he's a great husband and dadda, and helps me out heaps too... Sounds like all our hubby's are pretty good to us and our bubbas!!! Well I keep saying that if Nick wasn't such a good dadda, I wouldn't have had another one!!hehehehe I really don't know how single mothers do it.. My hat goes off to them..
Well, I'd better get some sleep before Toby wakes up. He is pretty good on the sleeping front. Last night he fed at 7.30-8, again 12.30-1, again 4.30, then at 7.30 cause he was soaked thru!! And he feeds and goes straight back to sleep at night... Such a good boy!!
-
yay tan cant wait!! :D
Great to hear from you alex. Must pop in to see you soon too. Sorry about all the breastfeeding trouble you had but you gave it a good shot! let me know if you are selling those milk storage bags. I have so much to go in the freezer and running out of ways to store them!

Good Morning everyone,
I’ll try a few personals, see how I go.
Tara, I know how it feels with more than one. I have two, and a 12 year old stepdaughter who stayed for the long weekend, phew, I’m still getting over it. Three full time must be a challenge. I hope you are all okay after the floods.
Kelly and Jan, I hope you are nearly over your antibiotics by now and the mastitis has been fully kicked, never to return.
T4AA, sorry to hear about your nephew. I hope everyone gets some closure now.
Sez, I agree that the rest of your life gets a little (a lot) left behind. I think it takes a while to get back to ‘normal’, whatever that is. I’m a post grad student, and stupidly, last week tried to get back into my thesis, after getting some scary feedback from my supervisor. I think it contributed to the general panic and overwhelm of the week. For me, it’s best to focus on bub for now. The work thing doesn’t go away; I deal with complex feelings towards it all the time.
Lis, the earplugs advice is good. I’ve been using them, because Theo’s snuffles and grunts (he doesn’t have colic) keep me awake or wake me up. I’ve had some better sleeps the last two nights.
I haven’t been online for three days and there’s so much to catch up on and remember! I’ve had a strange problem of an infected finger, so I’m on antibiotics with my right ring finger blown up and green. Lovely. I think my immunity’s down from bf and interrupted sleep, so a torn cuticle didn’t heal properly.
I’ve had a terrible weekend, to be honest. A lot of crying, starting Friday night, to the point where I get very confused and can’t make a decision. I had a full house all weekend, and found myself trying to keep everyone happy and that just exhausts me. Spent most of Saturday in bed, not sleeping, but just calming down and getting some rest.
I agree with I think it was Tan, who asked if people fought more with their partner. I went through that pretty full on with my first child, now, I’m internalizing to avoid taking everything out on dh, but you can feel like there’s not much left over for you. I get really angry, that’s my symptom, at everyone around me. I try not to express it, or cause fights, but it’s my trigger for knowing that I’m not in a good mood, when I get mad at someone for a really trivial issue. I find I’m really envying my sisters who don’t have kids (or partners) and friends too, many of whom have one child, not three. Hubby did give me a lovely massage last night, and he did all the grocery shopping too, he’s been pretty amazing, even though he’s tired from work etc.
To top things off, my dd, Sylvie, almost 3, is home today (from daycare) with a slight cold. I couldn’t work out if she was sick or not. She was crying and sooking, and I felt guilty for not spending as much time with her as normal, so now she’s home with me. Thankfully she’s playing with some beads and making a running commentary. She’s going to a pediatrician on Friday, as she sometimes has a problem with stuttering. It’s got worse since birth of Theo. She’s a very articulate child, so it breaks my heart to see her struggling to express herself, or giving up, when she really is a little chatterbox at heart.
Anyhow, I better stop, that’s been a real vent. I’ve wanted to post all weekend but haven’t found the time. Just gotta remember everything looks better when you get to sleep through the night.
Theo, my baby, is the most good natured baby I’ve encountered. He’s four weeks today and doesn’t cry much at all. He sometimes puts himself to sleep (?! Is this normal, my first needed hours of rocking!!), he sleeps a lot and he goes back to sleep at night pretty easily. So, for all my whingeing, at the end of the day, I couldn’t have a better baby!!
I hope you all have a great day, thanks for listening,
Mel

Hi Guys sorry I have been MIA but I will get back on later to fill you in. The main problem has been that my back went and I have been out of action and haven't been able to do anything. I have had my mum here to bring Isobella to me and to change her bum and bath her etc. Feeling much better today though still quite sore.
But the main reason I wanted to get on was to say from me and my mum.
:confetti:HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAE!:confetti:
-
Happy Birthday Rae - hope you have a great one with your two gorgeous girls and Paul!
Mel - good to hear from you but sorry about your back hun - poor thing thats must have been awful. Isobellas pic is gorgeous by the way!! Hope you are feeling better soon!
Mel - Huge hugs babe - no wonder you have been crying and overwhelmed with studying, looking after your bubs and step-daughter etc - dont be too hard on yourslef and make sure you rest up. Ear plugs are the best! Isabelle isnt even in our room and i use them to get a good sleep becaseu DH snores and I can still hear her cry - amazing!
I hope Sylvie is feeling better soon too - make sure you load up on vitamins etc yourself so you dont get sick too. I get angry when Im upset too - very short tempered at my mum and DH who have both been a godsend - I feel like such a b**** to when i do it but cant help it...too many emotions i guess.
Alex - sorry to hear about your mastitis etc - sounds like Toby is absolutely thriving though - his night routine sounds like Isabelles - I just wish it would carry over into the day! It all turns to pot from 8am to 8pm!!!
Sez - thanks for the tip- shes finally asleep too so will get my Baby love book aout and read! Ive got Save our Sleep too - but its a strict routine and I dont think it will work with demand feeding... i need to do soemthing though as she just wont sleep for more than an hour each day. I read somehwere that babys sleep pattersn are 40 minutes so she obvously wont settle past that each time... anyway hope you are not feeling too housebound and your foot is getting better.
Sarah - yay for the hubbys hey!! Al is great with cooking, pacing, nappy changing etc...Dont stress about the snappienss - we are the same and just put it down to broken sleep stress and as i keep telling him - Im recovering from major surgery and still have pregnancy hormones raging through my body!! Hope your long weekend went well too!
Kelly - good luck with the LC - my right side is still painful too but so much better - i have put it down to tenderness that WILL eventually get better. Considering i had pain in the left too that has slowly disappeared im holding out hope!
Yay on the sleeping too!
Ange - sorry to hear about your nephew and I think the charm bracelet is a beautiful idea too hun.
Lucky you going to Pink - my sister went and said it was awesome!
Lulu - way to go Izzy!! And you were right feeding in public was fine!!
To everyone Ive missed - big hellos and hugs to you all!!!
Well have to go - have been trying to put this miss down since 930- no luck... mmmm
Have a great day!

Hello :hello: This is my first post in the May babies thred - phew only just made it! A special hello to all the May 15th - 31st belly buddies - you guys really helped me get through those 'overdue' days when I thought she was never going to get here!
Woo Hoo Rae we have twins!!!
My Princess Alexis Lily was born on Thursday May 31st at 8.19pm, weighing 3.4kg and 51cm Long. She was due on May 23rd, so I was 8 days over.
A little about the birth... (will post full birth story in other thred)
I was induced with Cervadil (a tampon like thing that slowly releases labour hormones) on Wednesday night, had pains throughout the night, and thought I was in labour (boy was I wrong, they were just pre labour pains!). Was monitored off and on all night so didn't get much sleep.
Thursday morning, had my cervix checked it was only 2.5cm, and very high and behind bubs head, OB decided to break my waters and not give me anymore Cervadil
Waters were broken on Thursday at 12.00pm, about half an hour later - BANG contractions started coming on very strong - but i was still able to talk through them.
At 3.00pm the midwife checked my dialation and I was only 3cm :( OB decided to give me the labour drip (not sure what its called) to speed things up, by the time the anethisist had come around, I was very distressed and in pain, mainly in my bum, I couldn't sit down - I think at this point I told the OB that the baby was coming out my 'F***' butt! Decided on an epidural at the same time the drip was put in.
By 6.00pm drip and epi were in, we were told that it would be *on average* another 17 hrs - I was so upset and tried to sleep through the awful shaking effect the epi had on me.
Was checked again at 6.30pm as I was sure she was in my butt - Midwife told me that I was 9cm and went to get the OB - OMG I am awake now!!!!!
OB arrived, epi was turned off and I started pushing at 6.40pm.
Alexis Lily was born at 8.19pm, I cant explain the feelings, there are no words to truly describe, I am totally and utterly in love. Daddy cut the cord, and she had a big feed. No stitches or tears, just a graze - I love my OB too!!!
-
Welcome back Beck - great story hun and welcome Alexis Lily-gorgeous name!!
Just quickly Izzy has been up and down since 830 this morning - hasnt slept longer than 40 minutes at any stage (mostly shorter time than that around 25 minutes average) feeding every 1-2 hours and crying in between...finally has fallen asleep here onmy arm.... Growth spurt?? Its beyond me right now..will talk soon.
-
Hey chikas, just letting you all know I'm gunna catchup as of NOW :D
And WELCOME BECK, missed you lots, so glad to have us all over here finally.
Tan - Sounds like a growth spurt to me, but no longer than 40 mins during the day, I'd KILL for a 40 mins stretch lol Blake is wide awake most of the day, SOMETIMES having 30mins rest. But he is going for longer stretches at night now so I shouldn't complain.
-
Hello!!
Ashlee - Good luck keeping up - I keep saying I'm going to and just can't find the time!!! There are sooo many of us in here!!
Tan - How exhausting, I hope Izzy gives you a bit more of a break this time. It sounds like a growth spurt to me - Luke had one of those days on Sunday thankfully as Ryann was here to help out!!! Gave him a good taste of what we have to deal with most of the time too. I'm still having BIG nipple problems. It's soooo painful again and still getting worse (especially at the start of a feed). I'm going back to using the nipple shield and have a LC coming out tomorrow morning (FINALLY)!!!
Beck - Welcome!! Wow, what a birth story - sounds like you had a rough time (a bit like I did) and after being overdue (again like me). It's all worth it in the end though, isn't it!!
Happy Birthday Rae - Hope you have a wonderful day!!!
Mel (Mmm) - Hello!! Its great to hear from you again and I hope the back improves quickly - how terrible for you!
Mel - Sounds like you've had a bit of a rough time lately, please make sure you rest up and take it easy (as much as you can). I hope all improves for you soon and don't be too hard on yourself!!
Sez - Thanks for the encouragement, it's great to hear some positive bf stories!! I hope I can be another one of them!! How did your gorgeous boy go last night - I hope he slept well for you!!!
Sarah - Hope all is well - you're so lucky having dinner cooked for you each night!! I'm having to do a bit more of that lately as DH has an exam this Saturday, so after work he's busy studying!! I can't wait till thats over.
Oh bugger, Luke's been stiring for a while and it's turning into a good cry, better go see what the problem is!!! I'll try and pop back on soon.....
Kelly xxx
-
OK, we'll see how this goes, I have Luke on my lap but he's not a happy camper!!! Surely he's not hungry again!! We're having a bit of an unsettled day today, I think he's had some wind problems.
Anyway I've finally got a LC coming out to see me tomorrow morning, so hopefully she can help me with all my bf problems. Damn right nipple is getting worse again and I'm dreading feeding from that side!! At least the mastitis is clearing up!!
Luke has really started looking around more and responding to us, its just wonderful and I'm loving him more and more every day!! Would be great to get a good sleep tonight though, so I'm praying after an unsettled day, he might sleep really well.
I'd better go, I have a very unhappy little man sitting here with me!!
Take care.
Kelly & Luke xxxx
-
Kel-Good luck with the LC, I really hope she can sort those issues out for you!!!
I'm a bit down in the dumps today - I can see all these younger babies developing more quickly than Blake ie. by smiling, having head control etc. I know my lil boy was prem but surely I should be getting smiles by now?
-
Happy birthday Rae. I hope you had a lovely day with your little girls.
Kelly - good luck with the LC tomorrow. I hope she can give you some help so you can get past the pain. And hopefully Luke will be good for his mummy and have a nice long sleep tonight.
Tan - definitely sounds like a growth spurt. They're the pits aren't they - soooo exhausting when you have to have your little princess attached to you all day long. Hopefully she'll get past it quickly and settle down again.
Ashlee - try not to get down. Your little man has a bit of catching up to do after his very early arrival, but he'll get there and I'm sure in no time he will be doing everything and more that all the other bubbies are doing.
Mel - I hope your back is well and truly on the mend. That must be very hard to deal with while you're looking after your beautiful girl.
I've had an ok day with Izzy but had an awful night. She's spent the last couple of nights finally sleeping in her cot upstairs in her room. We've got those movement pads under her mattress and last night the alarm went off. I've never moved so fast in all my life! Fortunately it was just that DH had put her down in her cot a little too high, but it scared the life out of me and I was so worried for the rest of the night. Hopefully tonight will be a little less eventful.
Off to give Isabelle yet another feed. Sez (I think it was you) - how long does that book say we should expect cluster feeding to go on? Its such a hard time of day to have her her being so demanding. I really admire you mummies that have other kiddies to deal with - I struggle just dealing with Izzy while I'm trying to organise dinner!
