AFM and Flynn
Well some progress and so no progress
I put him on yesterday and he was mucking around but when he fed he sucked well so I know he got a bit and he over flowed when they "topped him up".
I just spoke with someone this morning (I ring at night and most mornings) and he had a couple of desaturations over night so I am a bit worried again. I know he did well yesterday and I only fed him once off me as I wasn't there long enough to do 2 so they can say he was worn out. I hope he stops doing the desats as he cant move while he's having them. The doctors were happy with his progress.
Ah well fingers crossed and I am going in to him soon so I will be having words with my mr Flynn again and telling him to behave so he can come home
Ella-hope you had a better night last night. Alice was feeding about five times over three hour periods in the first week, then would sleep for an hour or so with naps on me in between feeds. Once my milk supply was established she really settled down, hope Leo settles soon for you. Lack of sleep with a toddler too is hard to deal with
Wow being a mum sure doesn't leave us as much time to gossip as when we were pregnant huh

I am coping but having good and bad moments of my depression but to the doctors this week and I will catch up with my social worker at the hospital tomorrow (I think I missed an appt with her today).
well Flynn's doing well so thats good. He was more awake today (he usually sleeps ALOT) so that was nice and good timing cos I brought a little toy frog pram hanging thingy to hang on the side of his cot for him to look at and he seemed to like it
I dont think he will be moved any time soon but I am ok with that I just want to get him feeding and home. 1 of the nurses today said he would have been at 34 weeks today if he was not born yet and I cracked it and said no thats not right he would be at 35 weeks and she tried to argue with me over it but I won the battle. I told her I had been tracking my pregnancy from the very beginning and I know were I would have been if I hadn't had him early and that shut her up.
I dont think he will be home before xmas like I was told but I can hope for the best I guess and if he's not home them we'll spend xmas in the hospital with him.
I keep going to write an update and my timing is always off and Isabelle wakes up and starts crying.
We had a two outings in the last few days - one on Friday and one on Sunday. It was very exhausting and took forever to get ready and actually leave the house LOL. This weekend we are going camping for one night so hopefully it will go OK. It is our 4wd club xmas party and my partner is Santa so we are just going to stay the Saturday night.
I have the community nurse coming on Thursday to check on Isabelle's attachment as I dont think she is doing it properly and seems to want the breast less and less and is sucking worse than before. The next few days I need to ramp up my expressing to try and build up more levels to make it easier for her as well.
Blessedmum thanks for the advice. May head to the chemist if things don't get better to get what you or hubba suggested, as the crying hasn't improved at all. I'm like you & am trying to find the time to write my Birth Story while it's still fresh!
Congrats QueenMab on the birth of your baby. Are you still having problems with getting your little boy to sleep? Anything been working so far?!?!
Sleep issues.... YES!!!! My little boy was really good when we 1st brought him home... never slept for less than 2 hours at a time (usually more). But now he is waking up every 20 mins most of the time. He cries & cries which is really hard to settle most of the time. I feel like he's sleeping less & less no matter how hard I try to get him to sleep! I try not to keep him up for longer than 1 - 1.5 hours so he doesn't get over tired, but sometimes it takes hours for us to settle him to sleep anyway... & then by the time he gets to sleep he's up again in like 10 mins or so without fail!!!!!!! LOL my god I love him to bits but I really want him to get more sleep! It can't be good for him the poor little thing.
And yes with feeding my boy was such a little milk monster (& still is). He was on the breast like all the time at the hospital, which was quite sore until my milk came in which happened on the 3rd day! So Ella I know exactly how you feel, it's never ending! They still could use a break lol. Apparently, at 2 weeks my little man was 300g higher than his birth weight!!!! (And you're only supposed to be at birth weight). Hmmm so I was told to cut right back on feeding... Yeah RIGHT!!! Someone's not a Mum lol. They said to space it out to 4 hours apart, like that was going to happen! My little one cries his little heart out when he's hungry, & I can't leave him like that forever! I believe in demand feeding, but I try not to feed too often so he doesn't get too much wind, & every time he's hungry I don't feed him right away if it's been to short between feeds, so we've cut back a little bit. I really can't stand the pediatrician I went to when i was worried about his constant crying... they just blamed it on overeating, which I have proven is not the problem, so we're sorta back at square one. I guess it must be a baby thing, but I certainly won't be going back to see that doctor (I don't believe in strict scheduling with newborns & I'm not going to have my milk supply dwindle because I'm not feeding bub when he's hungry.)
Anyone finding when their baby is crying they seem to look like they have this strong urge for sucking????? It drives my little one CRAZY sometimes (& no it's not hunger, as I try feeding). Anyone using dummies & breastfeeding????? How's that going? I'm really going to try my best not to, as I'm breastfeeding it's what I prefer, & I just really don't like the idea of my baby with a dummy in his mouth - bad habit, as apparently they can't live without it once they get it? Hmm but sometimes I think my god that would save my sanity!! Lol but we're battling through & not giving in
I know how you feel Heidi. It takes FOREVER to go anywhere lol, certainly don't have the freedom we used to! Whenever I have taken Damian out... it's not an easy experience AT ALL!! He won't sleep anywhere but in his hammock... so our only hope is taking him out when he is in a deep sleep, but when he wakes up... Oh Boy!! Impossible to settle. For some reason he gets very cranky if we're out of the house & also if we have visitors... so we're trying to stay put for a while. I have a Early Days of Parenting Class with ABA tomorrow... I don't even know if I'll be able to go there because he won't stop crying if he's not out of it by the time we have to leave. The only way we get him in the car at all is if he is asleep!!! LOL my boy certainly knows how to cry, & does it often!!!!
Ahh, It's hard work but I just LOVE being a Mummy!!
Danni, sorry to hear your having a hard time with Damian crying. I use dummies and only breastfeed. I have had no trouble with either girls feeding. Macey only seems to want her dummy when she has wind. It relaxes her which helps the wind pass. Amelia still has her dummy but only for sleeping at night and normally within 10 minutes of falling alseep she spits it out. I am not saying you should use a dummy, I thought I would just share how it works for me. I also demand feed, I find that routines don't really work when they are growing so quickly and just as you start a pattern things change. Sometimes macey feeds every couple of hours and sometimes it can be nearly 5 hours between feeds. She is happy so that is what matters. Oh and your picture in your ticker is so cute. Damian has very dark hair like Macey, but hers is all at the back of her head.
Heidi, I read an article on sunday in the magazine that comes with the paper about breastfeeding and it said that breastfeeding usually takes about 6 weeks to learn 1st time around so if your having a few troubles now it is good that your getting help. Have fun camping.
Kat, There is still 4 weeks till Christmas and alot can happen in that time. I will send some christmas wishes your Flynn's way that he will be home for Santa.
AFM, I did my first outing with just me and the girls on Saturday and it went well. Yesterday was DH last day of paternity leave so we went shopping to get as many christmas presents as possible. Thankfully I only have a few to go and will get them done when Amelia is at daycare. I have been checking out all the Santa's to see where to have their photo taken but I want to wait till macey is a bit bigger. I found a santa with a real beard so hopefully he is still there on the day I choose.
Macey is still a dream baby. Always content, does not cry, feeds well. I finally posted my birth story. I typed it up in word so I could do bits at a time. If you want to read it the link is next to macey's birthdate in my sig.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Just a quick one from me.
We're just about to leave to go away in our new little caravan for a few days! Leo is feeding and sleeping really well, but me and both the kids have the flu so its all a bit gross here lol.
