Wow Kim, Jovie didn't sleep & was asleep by 5.30pm. We just couldn't keep her up, she just wouldn't stop screaming. She wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink.... I finally put some slippery elm into her bottle to fill up her belly so she would sleep.
Jols, thats a fantastic idea, I've been flushing their eyes with saline & then putting the drops in. I'll try & squeeze out some liquid gold.
-
I didnt know you were still bf'ing Christy
Evie was weird today, she had a mega-diarrhoea nappy and thats when i noticed she was on fire. had a temp of 38.1 which took 45mins to come down after panadol. and was just creeping up again when i put her to bed. she seemed happy otherwise so i dont know where the fever came from.
-
Wow look at your ticker pic Tara...so cute!!
Well Chelsea wouldnt eat tea...but still on the go..even Jasmine who has slept 2 hours all day is still in a hypo mode and not appearing tired!
-
lol Tara I'm not still bf'ing, but I still have a bit of milk in there, if I squeeze hard enough ROFL.... and in the shower its better.
Kim neither of my girls will eat if they are tired. Jovie screamed through dinner over here.
-
I can still squeeze milk out and ive not fed in 7 months!!!
Chelsea never got upset through dinner...just wouldnt sit still....LOL
-
that sounds nice Kim, having some US time for you and Craig today.
bilby went down at 8.30 last night, awake at 10.30, then 12.30, then 3am and didn't go back to sleep after that.
so you'd think, today, Miz "i don't do day sleeps" WOULD have a day sleep due to exhaustion, but no, she looked like she had bricks on her eyelids most of the day, but wouldn't sleep, even when i gave her a mid afternoon BF in a darkened bedroom in a warm quilt. WILL NOT SLEEP!
Got her down tonight around 8.30 again, i try feeding her to sleep, as soon as i de-latch her, she's rousing and fighting being put to bed in the cot. I lie down on the floor next to cot and sing to her, after 30 mins of that, i creep out the room - that's what i have worked out what to do to get her to sleep. Not great, just better than it has been.
but her sleeping 7pm - 6am with one feed - that we had going for a few weeks, that is rapidly disappearing.
ANyone got ideas for hiding vegies and fruit in food?
bilbs likes quiche and muffins
i buy $2 miniquiches from woolworths deli department, cut them up in cubes
buy savoury muffin mix in the box and make those up, i'm sure they are not the healthiest option, so many ingredients on the nutrition panel
besides cheese, yogurt, apple slices really thin, weetbix for brekky, not much else passes her lips.
so with fresh fruit and veg and meat getting nothing but tears n tantrums, i am searching for other ways to get food into her.
wanna buy a stab mixer or blender that will puree fruit and veg (WITHOUT needing lots of liquid to be added to it, and the food getting all caught up in the cross shaped metal thing at the bottom). so i can use the Deceptively Delicious cookbook idea and hide vegies. Sounds to me, if you dont have a good method of puree-ing, no point in using the DD cookbook.
i went into Harvey Norman, there are ZILLIONS of blenders and stab mixers for sale. i asked salesperson about this, he said "I dont know" and that was that. (!!!!)
i can't afford to buy five of them, to go home and THEN find out, which one actually does what i want it to do (a good puree wihtout having to add heaps of liquid).
any ideas would be grateful.
i'm so tired, just getting thru the day is wearing me out. It's a big step for me to even be thinking about making bilby food from scratch. I feel so guilty about giving her all this processed stuff (but she rejects the steamed, raw, parcooked veg) and wont' look at most fruit anymore (raw, tinned, forked up etc).
Christy - hope the conjunctivitis clears, that's nasty stuff. Hope you didn't have to wait home the whole day for the electrician. I hate when they don't even tell you "morning or afternoon" - as if you didn't have a life to lead.
Taralee - wow so close hon! I went two weeks over, so my dh's leave was gobbled up by me being late! *His stupid work made him book the leave in advance, NOT when i went into labour!!!
Blanche - how is Jack doing?
Kim - i'm so slack, i've been meaning to email you to thank you for the speedy delivery of the two cups - so excellent to have NON SPILL cups again! the supermarket ones give me the utters!!! yours rock! (love the colours you picked too - thanks!).
-
Gigi - okay you are speaking to the Deceptively Delicious queen :D I use a Kmart $20 budget Barmix, and its been fine. I also used a Breville budget side of things one & its been fine. I've had the Breville Budget one since Jovie started solids & its still going, I use it everyday.
Food ideas for hiding veges:
pikelets (I grate zucchini in or carrots or both)
muffins (I'll send you a recipe? can I email you my recipe book I've been working on?)
spagetti bolognase (will she eat this?I do half vege's half meat)
frittata - I finely grate all the veges into this & both girls eat it up.
chick pea patties with pureed veges
I don't have problems with Jovie, but Matilda will not eat any vegetable other than white. The only time she will willingly is for orange soup ;) She won't eat pumpkin soup, but she will eat orange.... we are working our way towards split pea or "green soup"
I also have some "greens" from my acupuncturist and I mix a spoonful into Matilda's chocolate rice milk daily. Our chocolate rice milk has in it Vit D, greens, probiotics all mixed in with activite. So yes it has sugar, but it also has all the supplements I couldn't get into her any other way.
-
hi peoples,
tara - 38 weeks!!! wow! i hope your bambino arrives soon for you.
Christy - how are the girls today? there are so many horror bugs going around at the moment. aston is coughing again! but that is all - so I am thinking its asthma... sigh.
Blanche_ how is jack doing? and of course the delightful emelia? I am sure that she is happy to have your both home.
Kim - lucky you on having a day with your hubby... I would love a day with mine, one that didn't involve sitting around in a hospital all day!
Ann - how goes your preganancy hun? are you sick? when is your dating scan?
gigi - will bilby drink smoothies? that is a good way to get fruit into her. veges - i make the quiche where I throw in whatever I have, grated up. How are things going with DH?
Nelly - hang in there darlin.
I'm so incredibly tired, emotionally and physically. AF has been visiting the last week, and it has been a bad one - they are all bad - but this one was a shocker. the bleeding has subsided, but the pain is in full force still. add to that a deblitated DH, makes for an interesting mix. I noticed this morning that I was gritting my teeth - so I know I am stressing to the hilt. I have so much to do this week, and the last two days of the week I am working looking after my gf's little girl. $100 that won't go astray while we are on holidays next week. between now and next Wednesday, which is when we leave, I have to get the car serviced, football training, football game, get the kids hair cut, go to the dentist, take DH back to the specialist for his post op visit, pack, clean the house, for the house guests looking after the house while we are away, and all the other day to day crap that fills my life. And DH is incapciatated - in a lot of pain. He had some of his shoulder bone shaved, so completely understandable. between getting up to aston last night, and him moaning and groaning every time he turned, then me getting up to get him pain killers finally at 3am, i have had the best nights sleep! yeah right!
I swear my mother had better do some heavy duty granma duties while we are away! so I can just sit and do NOTHING for a little while.
sorry for the moan girls - feeling slightly overwhelmed at the moment.
-
your heading down south arent you vicky!!! rug up!!!
hope Richards pain eases soon for you BOTH!!
pour yourself a glass of wine tonight!!
gigi how about frittata with tuna in it? pikelets with tuna?
kim what time did chelsea goi down?
christy any milk left?
-
Jols _ i'm so sorry - i forgot you! doh!!!! how you feeling? Yes I'm heading south, and while I'm looking forward to seeing lots of people, I'm dreading the cold! especially because the last few days here have actually been humid, and the lowest has been 17.... i'm going to turn into an iscile me thinks.
-
no worries!!!
id be taking scarf, hat!! etc... hopefully it wont be too bad, when do you head off?
-
Gigi im glad you like the cups!! As for foods, Chelsea is a fussy thing and only likes boring foods, hates vegies unless they are in stirfries!
V i hope things improve and you have a good time away
jols both Jas and Chels went to bed at 830 and never head a peep out of them!
-
Whew thats good Kim!
Jols  Hi
Vicky  I've been thinking of you this week. I hope that everything gets done smoothly for you. Its such a bummer with the rain and with a sick DH and bubba.....
US... just got back from the GP & Jovie also now has a throat and ear infection.
-
Both slept til 9am too!!
Oh poor Jovie...i hope she gets better asap!
-
Christy- poor Jovie hopes shes feeling better soon
Gigi- how about a vegatable mash, use either normal potato or sweet potato and then grate whatever other vegies u want and the mix in with the mashed potato.
Jack just woke gotta go will try get bak on to finish personals
-
whoa i miss a day and cant catch up!
evie's temp has been consistently over 38 since yesterday afternoon but seems to have now broken. thank goodness, cos i am exhausted!!! especially with dh working - up at 3am not home til 5 and then exhausted anyways.
no other symptoms other than fever and shivering which has been nice and tricky.
sorry, will try to catch up with personals soon. hoping i dont go into labour before madam is feeling better! yikes!
-
I'm leaving next Wednesday. are going to take a couple of scarfs, and got some gloves. i'm so worried about the kids being cold too....
-
tara hope DD is better today!!
vicky, you'll get used to the cold!!
KIM i just ordered from you!! didnt realise that my job title would come up in the address  could you remove it!!!
-
Sure thing Yummy Mummy Jols!! LOL I seen the order come in and went Jols ordered a cup :)
OMG my little beef cake AKA Jasmine had her 8 month check up today. 9.5kg 74cm long and 44cm head!
BUT at 12 months Chelsea was only 9.7kg, 74cm long and 45cm head......so there ya go....2 very different kids!!!! :p
Wow..im shocked at my girls sizes...cant wait til mid Nov when they have their 2 years and 12 month check ups to see the difference
-
thanks kim, how embarrassing!!!
you do have very different girls!!! sophies yet to 11kg's!!
-
kim is it worth ordering the extra tops?
-
I know..i hate to think what they will be in a few months time. Chelsea is only around 10-11kg now....she is a tiny little thing!
With the spouts i go through at least 2-3 a day....i use them on the Kala cups as well as my own water bottles, juice bottles...anything with the same size opening. I find it handy to have spare spouts.
LOL...wont let me take your Yummy Mummy status away...but dont worry.. no one but you and me see it ;) its surprising what occupations some people have....no idea why that field is even there...LOL
What are Sohpies fav colours so i can get you a nice cup. I have:
Purple cup/green lid/purple spout
Green cup/purple lid/green spout
Aqua cup/purple lid/aqua spout
pink cup/aqua lid/pink spout
Pink/purple/pink
green/pink/green
-
Purple cup/green lid/purple spout
this one please!! i love green and purple!!
are the absolutly spill proof? im soooooo sick of buying spill proof cups that leak after a week!!
-
I can shake the $hit out of mine or throw it and not a drop comes out.....Ask Bilby...she hates her cups cos nothing comes out :P
Only time anything comes out is if you put fizzy drink in it or dont put the lid on properly.
-
i'm sick :( stomach something non-baby related :( not now!!!!!!!!
-
oh no Tara :( hope your feeling better soon and its just a 24hr thing.
wow didnt think i would get my new av that quick but i asked for Emelia to have blonde hair :/ i would feel stupid asking them to change it just for a hair colour ?!!!
-
oh no tara not the best timing hun!! like blanche said hopefully its a quick thing! hun!
blanche av looks great!!
-
Aw love your av Blanche...whats the thing in the back ground though? I do love 'Emelia' in it too
When ever i ask for things in mine i get the complete opposite...so next time im gunna say 'Do whatever in the back ground'...LOL I do appreciate the time and effort gone into them though....just never seem to get anything remotely what i want!
Hope your feeling better soon Tara
-

-
i think it's a gazebo Blanche lol do you like those? i hope so!! lol
stomach seems to have eased a bit..given way for "period" pains. Saw people i knew at the shop today and they were like 'ohh you're so tiny' and i was like 'shut up!! it's huge! it's ready to come out' lol
how's Jovie going Christy?
better go make some dinner, see if that helps
ciao bellas

i organised for mum and dad to look after sophie this morning as DH had givne me $300 to go spend on myself!! went to but some undies from kmart, got tothe checkout, totally forgotten pin number :wall::o stupid stupid me!!!

OHHH bugger Jols....id have been spewing..yay for DH though!
Yep had appointment today....all good...BP fine....scan booked for 9am Tuesday 19th August....32 days to goooooooooooo!! Fingers crossed the lil bugger co-operates and i find out the gender :)
-
Jols - I don't mean to laugh, but that is something I would do, forget the pin, stuff it up, then ring DH in tears, and my dh would do what yours did. Glad you got to play in the end, did you get some good stuff?
I look after a friends little girl on a Thursday, and are also looking after her today. as I'm backing out of the garage this morning, DH frantically signals me to stop - Have a flat tyre. I have never changed a flat in my life. and of course DH is NOT ringing the RACQ to do it, so there I am, winding the jack up, grunting and groaning as I do, its bloody hard, while DH tries to stop laughing at me. between the two of us, me with two able arms, and him with his one, we got the tyre changed! and I was only 15mins later.... I can laugh about it now, but this morning, I was like what the????
glad everything ok Kim, not long now and we will find out if its a prince or a princess on board....
Blanche how's jack doign? all better?
Tara - how you feeling hun? fingers crossed for you darlin that your bambino is here soon.

Kim - yay for the appt going well, are you sharing this time with everyone what the sex is?
Tara- hope your feeling much better today
-
thanks blanche he is sweet!!!
glad jack is better!!!
how are you?
V yay on the wheel change!!
-
Glad you got the tyre changed V....id be hopeless doing that!!!
Blanche i will share the gender this time...last time was hard on me not being able to deal with it openly...so hopefully if its a girl i can get extra support from everyone whilst i come to terms. KWIM..?
...heaven forbids if its a boy....you will all tell me to shut up :p
-
im okay thanks for asking, Emelia being abit difficult atm think me being away again for a few nights really got to her, she probably thought i was going to bring another baby home lol plus i think the age she is at now she is doing naughty stuff just to get a reaction,(well she has been for a while, but never got a reaction) can be so frustrating when im feeding Jack and i have to get up and stop her, then Jack is screaming cos he doesnt like his bottle taken away and then Emelia is crying cos she got told off argghhh!!!! im trying not to show im angry when she does it now, things are slowly getting back to normal..i hope
i was feeling quiet down last week and things were getting on top of me i just felt like crawling in a hole and staying there!! but feeling much better the last few days
Kim we will be here, im praying for you that you will get your little boy..you sure do make beautiful princesses though!
-
Aw thanks Blanche *mwah* :D
-
Hey all!!
Kim IKWYM... when we found out with Jovie I went home & cried for a day. It took me ages to deal with it.
V... argh. I'm glad you got it changed okay and it wasn't too traumatic.
Jols... thats something I've done far too many times to admit, but I hear ya babe.
Blanche... argh this naughty phase is killing me!!! My two are always up to no good at bed time atm. It takes us ages to get them to sleep.
Speaking of sleep, WHO STOLE JOVIE'S SLEEP?????
She's not had a day nap 3 days this week, I'm a mess, I really need that break during the day. I worked for hours at it on Tuesday, Wednesday and today. Monday & Thursday she's at FDC and went straight to sleep  *groan* I'm over it!!!
