I made a huge batch of those biscuits but I have 2 boys eating them as I make them lol.
Shortbread I am making as decoration or gift tag thingy... never heard of brandy butter what do you use it for?
Made a nelly invention choc slice this arvo was supposed to be balls but my helper added too much coconut so we made slices instead. Melted choc with biscuit crumbs, coconut, chopped fruit and nuts and a bit of copha to help it set. Looks good ... they are gifts so it doesn't matter if it doesn't taste too great lol!

I did mini xmas cakes las yr but they were easy bcos white wings brought out a xmas packet mix _ I know that's cheating. Making "proper" xmas cakes freaks me out a bit it all seem too hard! Christy did V give you her butter cookie recipe? Makes hundreds of biscuits and costs $5 for the ingredients - only 4 I think.

Thanks for the ideas girls am also making dutch spice biscuits - they were a hit last year too.

We have had another sleep right through night last night - and those magnets are dwindling. When / how do you phase out the reward system?

nelly, I learned how to make rocky road from a tupperware party!!!

melt in the microwave (in a tupperware container of course!) 1 big huge block of homebrand dark compounding cooking chocolate (this has to be done on low, 30 seconds at a time & stirring gently to help mix the chocolate and not burn it). Than mix in 1 cup dessicated coconut. Mix in 1 packet small marshmallows and some jelly lolly be it rasberries or frogs etc, add 100gm nuts chopped if necessary. Pour into a container (tupperware... can remember, mine has a green lid and is thin and nearly lasagne sized if that helps) and pop in the fridge. She did this at the beginning of the party and it was ready in 40 minutes!!! Yum! I do this every Christmas and add a bit of melted white chocolate on top. I've stopped the white chocolate now... but the rest still goes!! You can get compounding dark cooking chocolate without dairy....

gingerbread in xmas shapes or lovehearts?

does anyone know of, or where to find, a recipe for rumballs that is either a bit of a healthier option or uses weetbix instead of biscuits crushed up?

taralee - lovely to hear from you, feels (to me) like it's been ages since you've been on this thread (prolly just my imagination). no South African relations on either side of family, bilby must be that person's unknown twin. Sometimes i get asked if i am South African - i have a few country's accents in my speech pattern - i had to learn to speak again after being in a coma, so i have weird accents now. (one per speech therapist!!).

Wow Kim, can't believe it's so close to Flight of the Bumblebee!

    AJP - hope you're ok

Vicky - of all the Lurkers i've ever not met, i bet you're the Loveliest Lurker in the whole of cyberspace, i know you'll come back when you can, lovely.

another night all the way through yay!!!!!! now that Jake is mastering his big bed - both going to sleep in it and staying in it we are preparing to tackle the next hurdle .... TOILET TRAINING! He actually asked to sit on the toilet last night so that must be a good sign that he is nearly ready.

gigi just emailed you the link to the weetbix website where they have an EASY recipe for choc balls but will paste here for all ...

I also do another one which is an american recipe that uses melted choc insead of cocoa

    8 Sanitarium Weet-Bix, crushed
    1 cup sultanas
    1/2 cup coconut
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    395g can sweetened condensed milk
    1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles

    1. Place all ingredients, except chocolate sprinkles in a large bowl. Mix well.
    2. Form mixture into 30 balls and toss in chocolate sprinkles.
