OM - yep i get the same ones. Mia has already had the 2 u mentioned. i just feel better making her my own stuff and im trying to get rid of needing jars at all.
didi - Nah i dont buy Mia much in the way of toys. Every now and then she will get something that i see but it wont be planned. Like last week, coles, they had these Dora dolls going out for $3 or something so i grabbed her one. She does have quite a few toys but got them for christmas and from family. Tho i do quite like the Lamaze toys, and so does she.
For u girls that are on face book.. more pics of Mia on there..
-
Hey all just a quick one - i make all of B's food also - i do it every week - steam up a whole heap of vegies, chicken, mince etc and than freeze it - i do 5nights worth, as for lunch she usually has a sandwich, however today i brought her some spaghetti O's - has anyone tried their bub on them yet?
Also Hollye i brought B some weetbix today! so will try them on her once her museli is gone!
B also has fruit, cheese and or yogurt during the day to munch on! oh and the occasionally arrowmilk biscuit which she loves - i try and stay clear of the jar foods as she is not a fan of them, also i love making her, her own dinner!
Still no teeth her either!!!!
B has her christening on sunday! im getting excited - after the ceremony we are having everyone come back here, so today we brought the decorations, the alcohol, and ordered the food - gee its all adding up - thank god its not something u do every day!!!
-
we got the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!
-
WOOHOOOOO!!!
and Happy 7mths Mia xoxoxo
-
Congrats Hollye - When can you move in? Can you get a long lease?
I've just come from seeing my parents who have had to evacuate their house for the third time in 3 months. I feel so sorry for them. I feel so helpless as I can't really help with Olive to look after. This time isn't as bad as last time but it still sucks. I can't believe Olive's been through 3 floods already.
I also found out today that the operation to have my kidney stone removed has been scheduled for next thursday as they had a cancellation. I got a letter a month ago to say it would be a year so am kinda in shock but it will be good to get it over and done with.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Oh hj - what do you put on B's sandwiches?
-
Hello lovely ladies, it's been a while :D, How is everyone doing (I'll read through posts later)
Well I've no excuse except I just got OVER the whole computer thing and went in to self imposed exile for a little while.
We are still doing well Angus is growing madly and we can just feel the beginnings of his first tooth (has juuuuust cracked through the gum).
We are trying to start the solid thing but so far have met mainly resistance,
baby rice- "Pah no way mum"
baby porrige- "what is this supposed to be???? are you serious mum?"
Pureed pear- "yep I think I'll let you continue with this...but only on my terms OK"
Have been trying to give a night bottle as I don't think BF is filling him up for long enough and I am over the 3 hourly wake up thing!
has been having a bottle for the last four nights for bed with varying results one full nights sleep (just to mess with my head) then hit and miss for the rest.
He's grown sooooo big and is bumping around the room on his back and rolling to reach things, he even bumped the entire length of the lounge room floor and then whacked his sleeping sister in the head ( a sign of things to come)
has anybody else got AF back??? I got it 2mths ago....soooo depressed tried to convince DH to go back for N#3 but I really don't think he's buying it!
had some issues with Angus he had a chesty cough since 1mth of age (like he had a continual chest infection) and have only just managed to get in to see a pediatrician and he had an xray and a sweat test done and I am still waiting for the results...in the mean time the cough seems to have finally fixed its self.
will pop in soon and read through the other posts to catch up on you all just wanted to re-subscribe so I can keep up,
love to all Allie, Paige and Angus xxxxxx
-
Hi Girls,
Blizz - Great to hear from you. Hope everything goes well with Angus's test results. Lara isnt too fussed on her solids either.
OM - Your poor parents having to evacuate again. What a pain in the bum!!! Good luck for your kidney stone operation next week. Least it will be over and done with.
Hollye - Congratulations on getting the house. How long is the lease for?
HJ - How exciting B getting christened on Sunday. Hope everything goes well on the day. I want to get Lara christened but we havent gotten around to doing it yet. I'd like to do it while she is still a baby. DD1 still hasnt been done so I'd like to get them done at the same time.
Didi - I only buy Lara some toys every now and then. I'd love to buy her heaps of stuff but we live in a 2bedroom unit and just dont have the room, plus she is my last baby so I dont want to buy too much stuff.
Gotta go, hi to everyone else. Have a great weekend!!!
-
Allie - really great to hear from u! it has been awhile! its also good to hear that Angus is doing well too! sounds like he is going to be a fussy boy when it comes to solids! hehehe - he must just love that booby milk too much tho! and good on him! is his night time bottle express milk or formula? if its formula does he like it?
Thats a bit funny about him hitting his sister on her head! hehehe typical brotherly thing to do but oh so cute!
Hollye - when do u move? if i could i would help u pack but since i cant i guess i will just think of u packing than! hehehe
OM - B usually just has promite on her sandwiches, however have tried her on jam but that was a once off i dont really want her getting a taste for sweet stuff yet, so nothing too flash yet for her, she just mainly sucks them to death - will be easier when she gets some toothy pegs! i tried her on spaghetti O's today and she really did like them!
Oh she has had banana sandwiches also! Last night for dinner she had mince, potato, carrot and pumpkin all steamed and purred and she loved it.
Leigh - getting both ur girls christened together is a good idea! anyideas on when u will do it? its not something we were definatly going to do but mum brought out the christening gown that myself and my brothers wore when we were christened and i thought hmmmm it would be nice to get B christened in the same gown, at the same church so yep tomorrow is the big day! i hope all goes well!
Well tomorrow is B's Christening - i think we are all ready for it - it has been raining all day so will be too wet to have ppl outside at our place afterwards so inside it will be!
We have brought all the drinks - we are supplying beer, wine, and softdrink, will pick up a few platters that i have ordered on way home after ceremony! also picked up the decorations today - something we wanted to be kept small has all of a sudden become big and has cost quite a fair bit of money! but oh well she is worth it! can just imagine how big her 1st bday is going to be! hehehe
-
Good luck with B's Christening tomorrow HJ. Is it at a catholic church?
Liam's meals generally go: Breaky - rice cereal and apple, Lunch - vegies (a selection generally from pumpkin, carrot, potato, zucchini, peas, avocado) and I've recently tried minced beef which he likes, Dinner - natural yoghurt with either banana avocado pumpkin or apple, or banana and avocado mixed together. Pretty straight forward...could use a little more variety now I think. (I love the idea of pureeing rice! I'd never thought of that!!) I cook and mix it all up myself and only use jars very occasionally. I have my fridge filled with takeaway containers each filled with a different food in ice-cube form so i can just chuck a selection together. I'm always on the lookout at markets etc for really cheap fruit & veggies - I'm obsessed! :)
OM - I suspect Liam will be an early walker too. For the past couple of weeks he's been pulling himself up on anything he can (including walls and doors!) and is just starting to figure out moving around while standing. I was dreading it, but we've been training him on the concept of 'No' and he's pretty good at leaving most things alone now when told. He looks quite funny coz he's still fairly small compared to the other bubs in MG but there's only 1 other crawling and standing and shes a month older.
Just had my 1st party tonight -what a lot of fun! Good to be doing something aside from 'just mothering' too.
Starry - I keep meaning to ask, what type of fluffy mail do you have coming?
Hollye - congrats on getting the house! Sounds like there were quite a few applicants too, well done. Is Mia doing any better?
Didi - I don't buy many toys. Having the car engine fixed stopped a bit of that. Also we have a fairly small house so there's not much room. I'm usually looking for items around the house he can play with - nappy bag, tupperware, shoe box, spoons. They keep him fairly well occupied most of the time. ATM he just wants to figure stuff out - opening, closing, making noises when he does certain actions etc. I keep meaning to go to the toy library to pick a few things up too. Saves both the $$ and storage issues.
How's Jorda going now?
-
I really dont buy much for toys at all.
I use the soft drink bottle filled with popcorn or something. Glue the lid so it wont open and she thinks its great.
I guess cause hey grow out of toys so dast then what to do with them afterwards!
-
Just a really quick one!
B's christening went great - she got soooo many nice presents also which we did not expect.
And.............
She is 7mths old today!!!
-
Woo-hoo for Bianca...7mths!!! yay, we are almost there actually tomorrow
We have finally had some success in the solid food department and Angus is finally opening his mouth excitedly to mashed banana, pureed pear, and sweet potato (not all mixed together of course )
now to try and slip some baby cereal in to his fruit, just been waiting till he gets more confident in eating whats offered...gosh it's taken a while..oh well guess its not like me to have a child with out a stubborn streak LOL!!
our first tooth has poked a fair way through now(he bit me on the finger with it today when I was trying to check)
Still not showing any signs of sitting up on his own, but he can nearly hold it if we place him right, is bumping himself all over the lounge room on his back and rolling all over the place to get to what he wants.
love to all, Allie xxxx
-
just thought i would pop in quickly....
3rd tooth is through...up all night thinking he was sick....and stayed home today..only to find out NOTHING is wrong with him except for his teeth!!!!! 4th is on its way aswell....
up on hands and knees now rocking...still commando crawling....
eating me out of house & home!!!!
-
Happy 7months Bianca, Lara turned 7 months on Tuesday. Geez, where have the last 7 months gone? They've just flown by.
HJ - Glad B's christening went well. I still haven't done anything about organising Lara's yet. I must get onto it.
-
Oh my jorda is 8 months.. well real age since being premie.. -6.5 weeks... and yup pulling herself up in the bath......
I am so not ready for such a mover!! She is super fast crawler as it is.. but now... pulling herself up on things standing there holding on.. gets so excited and falls over on the floor boards.. GREAT!
-
HJ - glad the Christening went well. Nice to get gifts too! :)
Happy 7 months Bianca & Lara! Happy 8 months Jorda!
Liam is pulling himself up onto EVERYTHING now, and is starting to move around a little while standing. He's experimenting with holding on with just 1 hand, holding the other way out to the side and twists around to see if I'm looking. Very cute. And he loves holding onto 1 thing then being able to reach out and hold onto another item. I'm seeing an early walker in my future. In my head, I'll prefer that coz crawling and cruising involves more getting into stuff where walkers entertain themselves by walking... Right? Right?! He's gonna look so funny though - little bald thing that he is toddling around everywhere.
I've had a rather painful couple of days. have had an ear infection since last Friday which got worse on Monday and has been excruciating at times. Went to the doc (yet another one!! My new one wasn't available for a week!!!!! Did get squeezed in somewhere where they don't usually take new clients and got another good doc - who's just a few streets away!) and got antibiotics and ear drops. Then last night managed to burst my eardrum. Oh the pain!! Anyway, managing ok now on ibuprofen - I know you're supposed to avoid it when you're breastfeeding, but the MW's suggested it after my cs and panadol just ISN'T working. So far Liam doesn't seem to be showing any signs of any probs from it. The other good news is the ear infection's not actually contagious and Liam is fine. Well, apart form the small cold he and I both have, but that's not much.
Hope you're all having fun out there in baby land. :hello:
-
Happy 7mths Angus and Lara
Happy 8mths Jorda
Yep where has the time gone? anyone started thinking about 1st bday parties yet and what they might do?
1stbub27 - hahaha thats so funny as of yesterday Bianca started doing that also - pretty scary when they decide to let go - soon they will be letting go and taking their first steps! oh that brings tears to my eyes!!!
thats terrible about the ear ache - i havent had one of them for ages and dont want one! not very nice - i hope u start to feel better real soon!
didi - does she cry when she falls over - i know with B if we dont make a big deal of it she wont cry unless she has really hurt herself - but if we make a big deal than she puts onthe water works, and milks us for heaps of cuddles!!
Leigh - chop chop on to organising the christenings - the sooner u get it done the sooner u can move on to organising 1st bday! hehehe or u could do it all combined! big day that wil be tho!
fluff - noooooo not a 4th tooth on the way - we dont even have 1!!!!
Blizz - yah for the success on the solids! try him on mashed potato - he will love it!!! hehehe
BIG hellos to everyone else!
-
Any of you gorgeous ladies going to the Melbourne get together next weekend??
-
Oooh I wish I could go! Most of my family's in Melb and I've just been looking at some really cheap airfares. You're all trying to lure me there! but no can do. :(
1st birthday.. I admit i've been keeping my eye on party paraphernalia. :D But no real thoughts about it yet. Have you thought about any themes or anything HJ?
-
fluff -no i cant make the meet up either!
1stbub - yeah i have kinda been thinking of it and i think im going to go for a "Disney Princess" theme! hehehe but maybe she is still a bit young for that?
Hey which reminds me - i have been hunting down "tinkerbell" removable wall stickers - i have found a few sites that sell them but they are either sold out or dont post to Aus - has anyone seen them around anywhere???
-
hey girls!
update - Mia and I went to the QEC Sleep Clinic on tuesday as she was still sleeping in our bed and having to be rocked to sleep. Well im very happy to say, shes in her cot and has been for every sleep and the past 3 nights she has slept in there ALL night. It has lifted alot of stress off me.
She has cheese and vegemite (seperate) sandwiches yesterday and chucked up a fair bit after it. I think it was the cheese, so i wont be giving her that for a little while. Shes growing like mad. Crawling around like mad, i spend most of the day chasing her around and saying "no Mia, dont touch"lol . she pulls (pushes) herself up to sit now. She likes sitting.
Harmony - have u looked on ebay???
hey to everyone else xoxoxo
-
Just a quick one, Julian now has 5 teeth and is nearly crawling his up on his knees all the time now. I've got bad tonsilitis and we're moving house this weekend so will have no net until next Friday hope fully. Cody is going to be 3 on Tuesday. Ok better be off and do some cleaning.
-
Jorda when she falls over, she cries as its floor boards. Ben is helpful at getting her up!
But she is standing in the bathtub and hanging on to the sides.
-
HI everyone,
Just a quick one. I had my kidney operation on Thursday and am drugged up and in alot of pain still but glad to be home.
Olive has coped really well. My mum and DH have looked after her while I was in hospital and she has been a good bubba. She has 5 teeth now with a sixth very close and she can clap hands now! It's sooo cute!!! and she kisses as of a couple of days ago so a few big things have happened. Olive is also saying Nan now as well as mum and bub but still won't say daddy. She is pulling herself up heaps. We are teaching her how to wave now. Anyway will post properly when i'm feeling better
-
Hi Girls,
OM - Hope your recovery is quick from your operation  & you're feeling better in no time. Wow Olive is a clever little bub clapping. I really must start trying to teach Lara.
Amanda - Good luck with the moving. Hope the rest of your family doesnt get tonsilitis. Sounds like Julian will be crawling in no time.
Hollye - Great news the sleep school went well for you. Bet you are so glad that Mia is now sleeping in her cot  I bet it is a big weight lifted off your shoulders.
HJ - I haven't really started thinking of Lara's 1st bday party yet. Yeah i probably should start organising the christening soon otherwise it might end up on the same day as her party.
Nothing much is happening around here, after a slow start Lara is starting to enjoy her solids. She is still on 4 bottles a day as well but she has started mucking around drinking some of them so isn't finishing all of them. Still only has her 2 front bottom teeth but I am pretty sure more are on their way.
Gotta go, :hello: to everyone I have missed & hope you all are having a great weekend!
-
wow look at all these bubba's teeth! Mia still has none..... not even a bump.... mayb she wont get teeth?? lol. tho i was over 12 months b4 i got my first tooth and now i have too many lol
-
Hey girls!!
Hope everyone is well!! And babies are not too sick from this flu/cold going around this winter.
Mine are sick still but they will get better soon I hope.
28 days till Canada and counting! i cant wait and my sis is having her first baby in 2 months so i cant wait!!!
QUESTION-Do you serve your babies milk warm, or cold? do you heat it up or give it at room temp?
When serving mushy solids do you heat it up as well or serve as is?
-
Mia has her bottles warm. If its not warm enough she wont drink it.
as for solids... if i cook her dinner from scratch its already warm. If its out of a jar, i warm it up but with fruit, yogurt etc, its cold. is that what u mean?
-
In regards to milk and food I am the same as Hollye, I warm the milk (the only exception is when we are out and about, I add the formula to room temp water in the bottles). Food she eats warm except fruit from the jar, its room temp.
-
bottles are warm (fairly warm too!!! otherwise he won't drink it!)
when out we take warmish/hot water with us...and make up bottle as above.
food....yes his food is warmed (usually eats ours anyways) and yoghurt he will eat cold (straight from fridge)
-
wow ive missed alot -
Must be quick tho sorry if i miss out on replying to something
Hollye - i have looked on ebay but to be honest ebay confuses me!
and woohoo on Mia moving to her cot - that is fantastic!
Amanda - 5 TEETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy moly!!!!!!!!!!
Hope u get better soon! and wow Cody is 3 on tuesday!!! what have u got planned?
OM - hurry up and get better xo
didi - i give B her milk warm - she wont take it anyother way - glad she isnt the only one tho- and since i make her solids they too are also heated up! except of course if its fruit or sandwiches and yohurt etc
AFU - we lowered Bianca's bed today - was soooo sad!!!!
-
Thanks ladies.
I am going to try and get Jorda to learn to have her food cold/room temp. As when we are travelling etc its hard to get milk or water warm or hot all the time.
I will see how I go.
-
didi - have u thought about getting a car bottle warmer? when it comes to solids, i think she will eat it no matter the temp when shes hungry.
Not the greatest night lastnight... Mia woke up 5 times. Its so much harder getting up to her than it was when she was right next to me. But i didnt give in and put her in the bed....
Mayb teeth? she doesnt seem to have anything else wrong with her. Her cheeks are quite red tho. I really dont know *shrugs*. How long do these sleepless night go on for before a tooth usually comes through?
-
Hollye hun....it can go on for ages!!!!! Jack has been waking for near the last week EVERY night at 10 pm!!!! and only since his top tooth came through and now we are waiting on his other top tooth!!!! still plenty more horrid teething nights/experiences to go...bubas are only little still...and lots more teeth to come
-
i cant feel anything tho kat... nothing... not even a bump. shes not into her food today either and has been abit more chucky, so mayb she has a slight tummy bug?
-
quite possible hun....BUT when a tooth is coming you will be able to see/feel it...
-
Hollye - she could maybe be going thru another sleep regression? i think they can have another at around 8mths! (oh my gosh our girls are almost 8mths!!!)
How was ur night last night?
We had a horrible night with B last night - up a few times - but for some reason i didnt mind too much ( i hate being woken hehehe) i really enjoyed my middle of the night cuddles!
she has had all the "signs" of teething - im starting to wonder if the "signs" really mean anything as she has had them for quite awhile and still nothing!!!!!!!!!
However..........
Kat - im pretty sure last night i felt some sharpness in her gums as i ran my finger along!!! i think i felt maybe 2 teeth!!!! but cant see them???
-
Thanks Hollye.. Yup we have a bottle warmer.. But we cant use that in airports etc, so today is first day of cold food for her!!
I am SHOCKED to say that Jorda is standing on her own, only for about 5 seconds max.. BUt my gosh.. way to early for me to like.. I was holding her up and let her hands go and she stood there...
27 days till CANADA!!
-
lastnight was better. She woke once at 5am and cried for about 10 seconds and self settled herself. So i didnt have to get up to her.
didi - goodluck with the cold food. I hope she takes to it well. woohooo for her standing! wont be long now and u will be chasing her around.
-
Didi - yah for Jorda!!!!
oh and i have a big fav to ask you!!!!
