Hi all, long time no see....
Have been having trouble with the internet, so after a while just gave up on it. Anyway, it seems ok now.
Have been reading some of your posts, but keep getting interrupted. Anyway for those of you trying to get bubs on a bottle, just wondered if you have tried a new bottle thats out called Adiri.... It is soooo cool. My sister was working at the baby expo and bought me one for V, yet V isnt that fussed on it atm. It is in the shape of a BB, and is a all in one bottle. The teat doesnt get replaced and gets filled up from the bottom. Since it is similar to the BB, it might be easier to get them to take. Since V has been on the bottle for a while now, she is used to the normal teats, so when she tries the new one she hasnt got much to latch onto as it is like a nipple.
Well since February 14, we have had Valentines day, the a birthday in March, then easter then 2birthdays in April and a Wedding anniversary, then another birthday and Mothers day in May, so have been sooo busy. Along with doing bookwork, and having sick kids on and off. Then the internet being difficult.
Anyway, while I have a chance I will let you all know how V is doing. V is doing really well, apart from when she had her immunisations, whoich she didnt handle too well. She is always smiling, has her giggles all the time, her little leg when she is happy or excited just swings constantly, hehehe. Although she doesnt always say it, I have heard Mum a couple of times and over the past couple of days Dada has come up on a few occassions. All in amongst her baby babble and squeals. She looks at herself in the mirror and giggles at herself, soo cute. Still little, but I can see she is growing. So fingers crossed for tomorrow as we have her pead appt at 11.30am. Hoping she is at least 5.5kg. I guess I will find out when her operation will be done to remove her cyst then too.
She is such a fussy eater, but is slowly starting to eat more variety, yet downside is even tho she only picks at the solids, she is starting not to have much bottle either and whinges and turns her head and pushes the bottle away almost every feed, thankfully tho she eventually takes it. She is such a small eater, and is lucky to have her full feed all at once. The most she has ever had in a sitting is 160ml. Anyway will let you know what her weight is tomorrow. hugs all.

didi - havent looked into what ill be doing yet. I need to get more of my hairdressing done but im gonna wait till Mia is over 12 months. I dont fancy leaving her with anyone yet.
csab - good to see u popped in. Yeh Mia doesnt do well with her needles either. Shes off for days. Good luck at the appointment, let me know how she goes xoxox
Mia had a check up yesterday. She now weighs 8.34 kg (7.9 6 weeks ago) and shes up to 70cm long now. But thats to be expected with both me n DP who are 180 cm.
Hi everyone, glad to hear all the bubs are growing well. I have booked in to have Olive weighed tomorrow as I haven't been to clinic for nearly 2mths so it will be interesting to see what she weighs.
I'm still off work, a little sore from my op and very tired so don't want to overdo it and who wants to look after 15 2-3yr olds in that kinda state? Not me!!!
Olive is at daycare today for a couple of hours as I need to keep her routine and i'm about to have a snooze. Olive slept really badly yesterday and last night and i'm starting to question if I am doing the right thing when it comes to her sleep. She used to be such a good sleeper but those nights are rare now. She never puts herself off to sleep unless she is at daycare and definatly associates sleep with milk or cuddles with me. I'm to soft to try controlled crying and don't believe in it and love cuddling her in my bed but last night I felt really cranky about it all and went to sleep in the spare bed. I was also in a lot of pain so that didn't help either. I'm generally feeling abit depressed that my body is taking so long to heal, i'm getting fat and the sun never seems to come out anymore. Arrggg I can't wait to feel well again! I went to mothers group yesterday as I needed to get out and it was so nice, we have a great group of ladies.
Anyway someone asked if they heated up their babies food and bottles. Olive loves her milk really hot but if it goes cold by the time she feels like drinking it and is tired enough then she will drink it if she has to:) One mum from MG has never heated her babies bottles as she thinks it is easier not to but her bub seems ok with them cold. Too bad if shes not I guess. I always warm Olive's vegies and she has warm porridge for brekkie but by the time she finishes eating her meals are usually cold anyway and she doesn't seem to care. I was watching that baby whisperer Shane someone on Sunrise yesterday and she was talking about an appetite for sleep so I think i'm going to try making sure Olive has a bigger lunch and more snacks and see if that helps her get into more of a sleep routine. Yesterday Olive would have had about 6-7 bottles as we are still demand FF but I think I need to cut down on bottles and feed her more food. Are your bubs on 3 solid meals yet?

Nah Mia still isnt on 3 meals a day. She on about 1.5 meals and 4 bottles.
csab - good to hear from you and V again! how did she go getting weighed etc? sounds like she is doing very nicely and is a happy bubby which is great! when do u find out when she is having her op?
OM - oh dear u do sound a bit down in the dumps!!!! **BIG HUGS** things will look up soon and u will be feeling heaps better!
B is on pretty much 3 meals a day - she definatly has breaky and dinner and lunch is just usually finger foods like fruit or a sandwich - and she is on 4 bottles a day!
as of Olive's sleeping - if ur happy with giving her lots of cuddles and attention than u do what u think is best for her!
6-7 bottles seems like alot - does she drink all of it? how much is in each bottle?

Hollye - NOOOOOOOOOO dont send ANY baby dust my way! hahaha that would put a big stop to my plans and i have been waiting for this for a loooong time!
Bianca has been doing finger painting today - she did 4 paintings - 1 for mummy and daddy, 1 for Bth sets of Grandparents and 1 for a friend that spoils her rotten - they are soo cute - they are on FB if anyone wanted a sticky - for some reason i cant add anymore pics on here!

Hollye - Thanks hun, Mia seems to be doing really well. What a great weight she is. V takes days too, to get over her needles, I feel so sorry for her when she has to get hers, as I know how she reacts with it. Definately not looking forward to the next lot. hugs
HJ - What a clever little one Bianca is doing her finger paintings, how cute. I am so happy that you have little Bianca in your arms, it took such a long time for you. I hear the joy in your heart now. hugs

Well today went well, V still hasnt hit the 5.5kg mark just yet but she will soon. We havent booked her Op yet as the pead said she is still to little to have it done. He said normally the bubs are ok to go under GA but V isnt the size of a 6mth old so we must wait. He said even if we did book it they would send us home due to her size. I have a referral to have her hips ultrasound so will do that soon.
Anyway heres V's measurements. Weight: 5.230kg Length: 61.5cm HC 41.5cm

Hollye - It seems to be just V. She seems to be putting on weight at a steady rate for her build. She is following the bottom line of the graph even tho she hasnt hit the graph yet. I am really proud of her, she has had to really start off with no fat at all on her tiny little body, and now even tho most 000's are still fitting her, it is only the bonds suits that are getting a bit tight for her now. As soon as I get a chance I will put some more pics up of V. I will take one of her in her bumbo....

Jack is on 3 meals a day plus having 4 bottles a day.

I can't believe it (well I can) but I got a call from the doctor after I posted last to say that I have a kidney infection! It's no wonder I am healing so slowly. I did tell the specialist that I thought I had one but he said that it was just that the symptoms of a UTI and the surgery are very similiar. Bloody doctors. So anyway back on AB's. Sorry to sound so down, it could be alot worse and i'm sure after a good nights sleep I will feel alot better. I might get take away tonight and go to bed really early. i should have gone to bed early last night but stayed up until 9:30 watching Chaser and Olive didn't go to sleep until 9ish anyway. We just tried to have a sleep but the dog woke us after 10 mins so that was that. Olive is so gorgeous she always makes me feel better especially when she says mum-ma in her cute little voice.
hj - Sometimes like today Olive will only have small amounts of milk but yesterday she drank 150-200mls in all her bottles. Today she has had 1 200ml bottle, 100ml bottle and 140ml bottle so it's been totally different. I'd say she will probably drink another 200-250 before bed and usually has a bottle sometime through the night.

I went to the docs today and am off to the immunoligist so hopefully I will find out why I keep getting these infections in the first place.

just thought I would share a couple of recipes which Olive absolutely loved today. I'm not sure if we are allowed to in this thread but I thought if we could share some recipes and food suggestions it would be a great help to eachother.
For lunch she had Orgran home made custard on soy milk. It's really easy and free from all the crap thats in the jar ones.I used a couple of drops of pure maple syrup instead of sugar and also put stewed apricots (dried apricots cooked down slowly with a little water)with it and this was a huge hit. She ate every last scrap!
For dinner she had Tuna mornay. I made white sauce on 1/2 cup soy with a tiny grate of cheese and about 2tsp of cornflour to thicken. Heat milk to boiling point in the microwave then add cheese and cornflour and stir quickly to thicken it. Meanwhile I steamed some fresh corn(about half a cob) and about half a bulb of bok choy (could use a few spinach leaves) and pureed these together. I also cooked a couple of handfuls of Bellamy's organic baby pasta. I mixed everything together with a small tin of tuna in springwater and she loved it!
Both these recipes are things which make quite a few meals.
Right i'm off to bed as I finally got Olive down about 10mins ago.

I puked my guts up last night!!! Sushi was bad obviously that i bought from the shop. Jorda had some as she has eaten it before, and when she got up at 9am this morning she was covered in spew.. So obviously didnt agree with her either.. poor darling.
No more sushi for me I guess..

I just came across this thread and thought I'd join as my daughter, Amelia, was born on 23rd October 2008.
There are 17 pages to read so I haven't quite got there yet, but just thought I'd post a message to say hi! :o)
A little bit about me... I'm a single mum. We live in Melbourne with our cat and dog.
Amelia is on solids and I'm introducing new ones weekly. She thoroughly enjoys her food now!
She is trying SO hard to crawl and is bouncing up and down on all fours, but hasn't quite got it yet. (SO cute seeing her try though!!)
She is still sitting rearward facing in the car. She used to sleep in the car quite easily, but now being more aware of her surroundings she keeps herself awake, wanting to know what's happening in the world going by! Usually this isn't a problem, unless she is due for a sleep as then she becomes over-stimulated and over-tired, which makes for one grumpy child! Lol.. thankfully this doesn't happen often.
I am very lucky, being single, that she is a very content, happy baby & self-settles (most of the time). She certainly makes it easier for me. However I do feel I miss cuddles with her as she self-settles (although I know I shouldn't complain!!). We usually have a few hours sleep-in following her 730am feed, so I have recently taken to bringing her into bed with me, so I can get that close time with her.
She is bottle fed (formula) because she never latched deep enough and although she was getting some milk, it obviously wasn't enough as on day 6 she had to be admitted for phototherapy to treat her jaundice. She made a full recovery and is thriving now. I exclusively expressed for the first four months, so I figure even though she's not breastfed, I gave her the best start to life I could & all my antibodies etc & goodness from my breastmilk. Feeling utterly exhausted after four months of expressing every four hours (which took about 30-40mins) though, I just couldn't do it any longer, which is why she is now on formula. Thankfully, she transitioned without a fuss (phew!).

Hi Kate & bubba Amelia, welcome to our thread. Sounds like you are doing a fantastic job with Amelia. Good on you for expressing for 4 months, I can understand it was exhausting. I look forward to getting to know the both of you.
I dont have that much to report here. We took the kids to the circus last night, it was great. Lara was mesmerised at everything and she was so good. She is getting better with her solids after a slow start. For some reason she has started waking up around 5am, driving me nuts. Most days I am able to put her dummy in and put a blanket over her and she'll go back to sleep but sometimes its only for an hour and I havent been able to get back to sleep. I hate being a light sleeper. She still only has her 2 bottom teeth but she is chewing/sucking/dribbling on everything. Sitting up on her own (before her sister sometimes knocked her back down). Not crawling but getting up onto all fours. She is saying dad & nanna but not mum yet :rolleyes: meanwhile I am the one who does everything for her, oh well I am sure she'll say it soon enough.

Welcome Kate and Amelia! BB is a great support network. I can relate to the expressing. I virtually expressed full time for 4mths after having cracked nipples for 2 and have never felt so exhausted although Olive is going through a bad patch ATM. She has been teething for 3 mths pretty constantly and now has 6 teeth with 2 more on the way and sleepness nights seem the norm now. You sre so lucky Amelia self settles.
Olive has been sick and not eating for the past 2 days. Last night she woke every 30-45mins so we are wreckes here. I'm not sure what is wrong, maybe a sore throat or ear infection. If she is no better tomorrow I will take her to the drs. It really sucks when they are sick, I feel so helpless and tired!!!
On a happier note we went car shopping yesterday and today went and test drived a Suberu Forester which we are buying. It will be so nice to have a decent car, very exciting.

Well Miss B is sooooo close to taking that first step - she stands and walks holding onto the couch - and sometimes turns around and stands not holding on (i find that a bit scarry) than she realises and falls - dont think it will be long till she takes that first step :( sob sob and than i will have to say bye bye little baby and hello little girl!
was going to take her for a haircut today but never got round to it

HJ - Wow, B sure is growing up way too quick hey. It is sad and exciting at the same time. I was looking at photos of my DD1 when she was a baby the other day and got really sad. Lara has hardly any hair so she wont be needing a haircut for quite some time. Hope B enjoys getting it done.

I was really lucky actually, I had the most amazing pregnancy & labour too! Had a natural birth with no pain relief. I was in labour for 6 hours, but my first contraction that I had to stop what I was doing and concentrate for, was 3hours in. It was utterly amazing! The most intense experience of my life so far, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
Ever since I found out I was pregnant, Amelia has shown me she is meant to be here, and I truly believe my smooth pregnancy and quick, smooth labour were signs too. Plus the fact that she has continued to be amazing outside the womb! Being such a happy, content child. She wasn't planned and yet despite taking the morning-after pill, she was still conceived.. That's some feat! She just wanted to be here, and so here she is!
Awww Kate thats just beautiful - yep definatly sounds like she was meant to be!!! glad to hear all went well for you also!
Fluff - poor lil Jack - how is he taking to the antibiotics? are they just for the cold he has? i wasnt aware they could have anything yet for colds - or does it have to be really really bad for them to have something? Miss B has had a few colds - but none that have lasted more than a cpl of days and i dont think she has been really bad - but i always wondered if there was anything else that could help them thru it besides panadol - which i find sometimes just dosent cut it- we take things for a cold so i always wondered if there was anything we could give our bubs to help them more! i hate seeing miss B suffer!
I really hope Jack gets way better soon!!!
Leigh -it is exciting and sad! we didnt end up getting her haircut - the things we had to do before hand took longer than expected! i might try her with some hair clips but im worried about her chocking on them!
