    Wink POEM - 3am

Guys here is a poem I came across on the forums some time ago - I kept it because it moved me so much . It may help some of you get through when you are feeling like your eyes are about to pop out of your head Its written for a baby boy but the words will still apply to any mumma and bubba. Hope you like it....

    Poem - 3am

    It's 3 am they're all asleep,
And no one's here to see
as we rock slowly back and forth
    My Baby Boy and me

His little head is feather light
    tucked up against my chin
I hold his tiny hand in mine
    and stroke his baby skin

The house about us creaks and groans
    the clock hands creep around
He snuggles closer to me still
    and makes his baby sounds

I love these quiet hours so much
    and cherish every one
store memories up inside my heart
    for lonely nights to come

All too soon he'll be grown up
    his need for Mummy gone
but until then I still have time
    for kisses and for song

Time for quiet hours like this
with him cuddled in my arms
where I wish he'd always stay
    protected, safe and warm

And yet I know the day will come
    when this tiny little hand
will be much bigger than my own
he'll grow to be a man

But until then he's mine to love
with no one here to see
as we rock slowly back and forth
    my Baby Boy and me.

    Hi all

JellyBean - I'm alright now, handling it so much better! DS smiled at me for the first time today (well, it was a first smile EVER!) and I absoultely melted Cant wait for DH to see it!
CHN appt went very well, he's now 55cm long, HC 39cm and he's.. wait for it.. 4.27kgs!!! I'm so proud of the lil man
She also said to me in regards to breastfeeding that if because I've had to stop BFing for so long, that its uncomfortable, to just express and try to BF once every 2 days, then keep him going on formula, that everything should be ok. I'm using s26 and she said if its not causing him problems and hes happy with it, not to change.

BBL, got a DS that I'm feeding on my lap (who keeps farting on me too ) and need both hands for

Glad you guys like the poem! It really is a tear jerker....

Glad to hear you are doing better LJ - and well done on the weight gain.

DH and I are off to see the New Moon movie tonight.... so excited!! (Yes I'm another sucker for Twilight)
I tentatively decided to take DS in his sleepy wrap but I'm a little apprehensive about it. He never cries when in the wrap - only sleeps and feeds, but still.....
I'm guessing most die hard fans would've been to see it already? I really dislike expressing (struggle to get enough) so I'd rather him be with me - especially as its s long movie...... hopefully I don't **** anyone off . I'll bring cotton wool for his ears just in case.....

Ok I'll stop rambling and do some housework now.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and manages to get some sunshine.

Jellybean: the poem is gorgeous, brought tears to my eyes.
i took Alissa with me to see new moon, i went to the first session of the day so it was pretty quiet. she fed, and slept, or just chilled out snuggling up to me on mine or DHs chest.

So i have some awesome news!!!!!
I can now bf WITHOUT a nipple sheild and it doesnt hurt
I went to see a lactation consultant, she showed me how to attach her properly, and first go, did it like a champ. The lady was surprised Alissa went on first go considering she's been using the nipple sheild for almost 6 weeks, she also couldnt believe how long id been doing it with sore cracked nipples, and pink sore boobies, she told me that ive done really well to go this far, i just wish id gone and done it sooner. but oh well its all done now
it still takes a little bit of fluffing around to get her on properly and most times i have to atttempt it 2 or 3 times but the point is i can get her on without it hurting and my nipples might actually FINALLY heal
it just totally made my day

Anyway off to shower and sleep, have had a couple of rough nights with Alissa, she's not been in a bad mood, she just wakes every 2 hours for a feed then it takes me a good half hour at least for her to get tired and to go to sleep.
    Night ladies xxx

Stevie - woohoo thats awsome news hun!! May i ask, how did you find the lactation person and how much was she??

Jellybean - hehe Evangeline has been 2 see New moon twice now, and the Christmas carol. All 3 times she feed and slept Its alot easier when they are newborn i think. Hope you enjoyed the movie

Dedicated Mummy - Thanks hun. Although my family has been extremly hurt and crushed, i always think that someone else out their has it worse.

AFM: Well Evangeline had decided she didn't want to sleep at all yesterday. She had one day sleep for an hr, then wide awake till 10pm I think she thought she was going to miss out on to much lol. I also think her big sister has been coming to visit. She lays there now and "chats" to the walls, and then the big checky grin appers. Its so god damm cute, it melts my heart. Ethan actually has been getting Lilli's pictures out and showing Evie then. He is to sweet some days, he tells her "this is our sister Lilli, she's in heaven. We can't see her but she can see us" He makes me cry, such a emtional and sensitive little boy.
Well we are off to on party today, then 2 tomorrow. Christmas season has started girls.

rach: when i was at the hospital i was given a brochure on a drop in centre a town away, its free and you can go whenever you want as many times as you want up until bub is 8 weeks, they weigh your baby, all the women there are trained midwives and lactation consoltants. Its called the Life bridge centre. i knew about it the whole time but never went coz i didnt think theyd be able to help me, but gave in and went there and now im kicking myself that i didnt go sooner.

Well done to all of you ladies who are taking your bubbas to see movies, I never would of thought of taking Leila but seems like it wold actually be fine to take a newborn.

Stevie, awesome news about the lactation consultant and saying goodbye to nipple shields! It's a shame you didn't get more help in hospital. I found the bf assistance I got in hospital was fantastic, every midwife on shift would come over and spend a good amount of time with me making sure I had Leila attached properly it was such a wonderful help.

Jellybean I haven't read that poem yet as everyone has said it brings tears to their eyes and I'm feeling a little delicate so might wait until I think I can handle it!!

LJ well done on Williams weight gain I haven't been on since you posted. As I said in one of my earlier posts re weight gain it sounds like all of our little ones are doing fantastic and it's so wonderful to read about the great progress they are all making.

Bub4me Welcome!! It's great to have another mummy join our group Sounds like little Ava is a real little treasure.

Rach75 - great to hear that your milk is back! Hope the swelling goes down soon.

Rach221 - hope Evangeline sleeps better today

AFM well these past few days have bought about a real transformation in my little Leila. Her personality is getting more defined every day. She smiles all the time now and it is so beautiful!! She's so much more alert and takes everything in, she's becomming interested in toys that rattle etc and loves kicking around on her play mat with no nappy on - so cute! AND best of all...... she's sleeping!!!!!! :she sleeps well during the day and night now. the last few nights she's slept from around 9:30pm - 2am then has a feed and is back down until around 5ish, up for another feed then back down until around 8:30am. OMG I cannot express how wonderful this is after weeks of restlessness and totally unpredictable sleep cycles.

Oh, and yesterday we took Leila to get photo's with Santa! They are so adorable, she was so well behaved. She didn't smile unfortunately, which I didn't expect she would as at 4 weeks they certainly don't smile on cue, but she was very happy and content being cuddled by Santa, I'm so proud of her!

Hi to everyone else I've missed.

I know it's not the best picture of her as you can't see much being so small but I figure it's very appropriate for this time of year

Fi - Great news on the long sleeping stints at night. Jasper is a great sleeper at night but still wakes consistently for feeds..... hopefully it will be my turn soon!

Stevie - Glad to hear the progress your boobies have made - will make bfding so much easier for you!

Rach75 - Great to hear your fluid is going down - hope it settles completely for you soon.

Rach22281 - Very sweet about your little Ethan. I think its so great how you are so open about everything.

AFM - well, the movie venture was a success! He did start fussing for the boob during one silent part, but I managed to get him attached quickly enough to avoid any drama. He was sooo good. However, I am going to see it again (lol) at the Mum & Bubs session this week so I will probably feel more comfortable there! They turn the volume down a touch and keep the lights on dimly lit to make it easier for breastfeeding etc.
Like some of you, my little man is also giving us smiles now and it is so gorgeous..... although its something I've encountered before, its just as magical the second time around. DH and I are so curious to see how his little personality is going to differ from DS1 - already they are like chalk and cheese!!
