Yeah I know they are on the verge of changing when to start food to 4-6 months. But I read articles by the ABA and WHO and they both strongly recommend people don't start solids before 6 months. Also on the subject of allergies I was told that there might be less allergies if food is started earlier rather than later but then other people say allergies are more likely to occur if you start too early. I guess there's just no answer really!
kuraiza - That's great that Jude went back to sleep at 1am. For me resettling takes longer than feeding so I often just feed when maybe I could resettle. Yesterday Maya slept from 10pm till 4am again, so I'm pretty happy with that.
katones - Maya also can't roll from back to tummy yet. And Maya is also squealing now. She does it when she's happy and it should be cute but it's very ear piercing!

Anyways, got my new sports bra today (Enell) and it is AWESOME! It made me look like I've lost 5kg (YAY ) and feels great! Bit tricky to do up, but once it's on, the girls ain't goin' anywhere (and no, it's not underwire).
Wondering about volumes that others give their bubs by bottle. I was double checking how much X is "supposed" to have... and I worked out it would be about 320mls for 4 feeds a day. That seems like a crazy insane amount to me. He usually takes anywhere between 200-250ml. Plus i just re-weighed him at home, and he's 8.5kg, the little boofer - which puts him on 90th percentile! So who actually follows those formulas (if anyone) and how big are their babies?? maybe it's different with FF compared to EBM? doesn't make much sense to me!
Oh and I don't think X is ready for solids at all yet. We love our highchair tho
belfie - oh them "reccomendations" on how much they should be having. ATM i think Mia is meant to be having 180 or so 6 times a day.. she does mayb... 120-160. Shes still not a big eater and if i listened to the tin its says 240!! i dont think she will EVER drink 240 mls, which would be about 270 made up.. 270?? thats mad!!
re solids - i really dont care, when or why u girls start ur bubs on solids. Im not here to judge, i dont care if it was 2 weeks or 6 months.... caring is 0%. BUT i do love hearing the stories like Katones of what they are munching on.. oh them biccies are devine, im likley to eat them all before Mia gets one. lol bad mummy!
Mia's high chair is on layby.. so it wount be long for us and the solids thing. Right now im so buggered im glad im not, bottles are so much easier.
kuraiza- i was doing bachelor of commerce majoring in accounting/finance. im so glad all my studies are done now as studying with this little one can be impossible at times cos he wants so much attention always wants to play. but i cant really complain as i failed 3 units last year otherwise i wouldnt have this problem. luckily i did all my assessments while still pg but just had to defer my nov exams until now, just hope i pass everything this time round (will find out next week) so i can grad in april
re kids: we want another by april next yr so that they're only 1yr apart in school. would any1 know whats the cut-off date for school entry in victoria? ive been trying to find out more abt ovulation & bf cos i really dont want to wean him for the sake of conceiving...i think we're still planning on having 4 boys
tanya- seems like maya dont mind the long car trip now where does ur mum live? we have to drive 45 mins to my mums too, we try to avoid peak hour cos he hates it when the cars not moving. did u end up giving cloth nappies a try?
re sleeping: at night he sleeps in his cot next to our bed until the morning feed, when he comes into our bed. during the day he sleeps on the floor next to me in his "playroom". if he's upstairs & we're down i just turn on the monitor JIC
re fittings: never had 1 done, still feel embarrassed getting bras. i dread shopping for them, get overwhelmed by them even though i only get black ones. i went through a stage where i hated the bonds singlet but now i love them so much, need to get a few more while the bigW sale still on.
sami- never really looked into introducing food & allergies/skin problems, i jst thought not too early and not too late? both DP & i have eczema, and ive got hayfever & slight allergy to shellfish...but i think im gonna take a plunge this week & see how things go. Dragon likes the taste of icypoles & tomatoes too, hope he doesnt develop a sweet tooth like us!!
belfie- what linen would u recommend to get? ive got NONE lol. would like material which is natural as his eczema comes & goes. i know its not recommended but he's been sleeping on a pillow since 1st week.
katones- i live ur avi, got stumped when i saw it & was thinking whos this new person LOL. dragon loves to talk which feeding, can be rather annoying esp when it decides to spray all over him & me!!

anyhoo...
our trip away turned out better then expected even though we got off to a really bad start. FIRSTLY when we got to the airport carpark the car window got stuck & wouldnt wind back up. luckily DPs a panelbeater & we had tools in the car so he could quickly fix it. NEXT we nearly missed our flight (it was too early in the morning to comprehend what the staff were telling us at check-in). luckily i heard my name on the PA system & we rushed our butts off. they nearly didnt let us on the plane!! THEN dragon wouldnt stop crying. i was thinking everyone's gonna kill me if he doesnt stop. he stopped jst before take-off & slept all the way thru
the weekend was a blur but its good to see my ILs even thou i cant communicate with them (they dont speak english!)
flight back was a completely different story, he slept all the way thru but there was another crying baby on board. cant complain abt them now as ive been in the same position & it can b pretty stressful! we figured that it not so much the plane trip that had stirred him up but the fact that we were rushing & he feels my heart rate go up so he gets stressed. also the countless unfamiliar faces added to his discomfort. at least now we know to give ourselves plenty of time. it was good that we had this domestic flight is preparation for the overseas flight coming weekend!
the next few days i gotta unpack, wash & repack; change the fishtank water and do some housecleaning. hopefully i'll have time to rearrange the playroom too.
I like to share info and experiences with you ladies and offer advice if and when I can - I don't think I am judgemental either. Zander is are 1 - 4 weeks older than other bubs in here - hence the talk of solids by me - as it pertains to me.
Teruteru: Congrats on your studies and best of luck for your exam results. What language do your ILs speak? Are you going to encourage your kids to be bilingual? I desperately wish I spoke another language. I lived in Japan for 2 years and failed miserably to learn Japanese, although I did learn to read 2 of the character sets and some of the third. I think my language centre in my brain is not connected quite right. Now I've been learning Esperanto, because it's easy to learn (although not actually spoken anywhere in the world, therefore not overly useful).
I'm thinking of seeing if Jude's interested in Solids. I have a feeling he is (he's so interested in watching us eat and lately he chews when I am chewing), but if I offer food and he's plainly not interested I won't push the issue. He's great with his vowels but not really moving on to consonants, so I'm wondering if eating will help develop his speech (I've heard it does). NOT that I'm worried at all about his speech, I just want to hear him say Ma Ma, although he has said "mon m?re" a few times, because apparently he thinks he's French
I'll let you all in on a little secret. I didn't speak until the day before my 3rd birthday and now I don't shut up. My great-uncle didn't speak until he was 4, and he turned out to be a genius, and Einstein didn't speak until he was 5 (so i've heard, but I probably should research that claim).
Yep Sami solids for us was DS1 2001 (4mths), DS2 2003 (4mths), DS3 2005 (4-6mths), DS4 (6mths), it always seems to be changing.
Well Julian had his physio appointment yesterday, he's head can turn to the left, but he's got a tilt to the left now which we've got exercises for and hopefully in a few months it will be better. He got his needles this morning too, so will have to see how he goes.

I have been having a bit of trouble getting into BB, is anyone else experiencing it too? I end up getting frustrated and go off doing something else.
Anyway last week my mum had a heart attack and was transferred to RPA, anyway they did tests there and told her that if she was at RPA when she had it then they would have been able to be on top of it quicker, so ended up sending her home the next day. Anyway she has been told to be resting for 2weeks and then rehab. She seems ok atm.
V has been abit unsettled of a night, well more like wanting to play. Anyway will catch up when I get back, if I can get on anyway.

Ohh and as for feeding with all of mine they would look up eyes wide open licking lips to eat, hehehe. Which was at 4mths. V isnt showing any signs of being interested just yet, but I am expecting her too soon. hugs
