First up Bethany sends thank yous for the sympathy. She has perked up so I think she is over the worse of the infection poor little mite. She'll still need to be checked out to make sure there isn't anything inside thats wrong and her vaginal opening will need to be enlargened. Hopefully just through cream and not surgery.

The great meeting of the minds came up with.....well swat really!! The final word is a combination of behaviour that she has learnt from being uncomfortable with reflux maybe. Basically the theory goes that because she lies and plays on her tummy (She never did master front to back rolling) that makes her feel crappy after a feed at about the 20min mark. Instead of crying or something sensilbe to attract mine or her daddy's attention and say "hey this isn't working for me" she lets loose with the amazing sound barrier braking screams. And keeps going and going and going and going....You get the picture. I am addressing the refulx with slower feeding and keeping her upright after bottles (not ready to try meds yet, I would rather have that as a last resort.) we also have started heating her formula and using soy which made the world of difference. But alas the screams are still with us this is where the learned behaviour comes in. Next week sometime hopefully a baby behaviour expert person and a psychologist is coming to watch and assess what is going down and then give us stratagies to deal with it. Ohhhh bring on the dealing with it stratagies!!
Atleast we have gotten the sleep back under control that is a good start.

On a different note have any other bubbas had nightmares? Bethany had one last night. I had put her down and was in the lounge, she had been down for a good hour or more when suddenly she started screaming and it was a real terror hurry mummy scream. When I got in there she was asleep but still screaming. I carefully picked her up and just whispered to her and a few seconds later she woke with a jolt and started crying. Poor thing. It tooks lots of cuddles and a song or too to re settle after that (which I can more than understand!) She did settle though really well and was fine.

Well I have the real estate coming in an hour for an inspection and nothing is done cause Bethany has decided that it is carry me all day mummy day. So since the place is neat and tidy and realaivly clean I figure stuff it. Too tired to deal with it. I had in fact forgotten till this morning when I looked at the calander!

I think I can hear a cup oh Chai tea calling my name whislt Bethany naps....

Befie and Tanya~ Thats alwful bout the head droping, Hope X and Maya are doing ok now.

    Hi Fluff!!
    Hi Sami!!

mmmm Hi to whoever I missed!!

TANYA How'd the high chair shopping go? DId you get another one? BJ is VERY well established on solids. He's such a good eater with the BLS, but I still worry that he doesn't have enough milk so I always give him a dream feed before I go to bed. Sometimes he doesn't have much at all so I guess he probably doesn't need it. I've decided I will drop that feed once he is 9 months corrected age. So, in about 6 weeks time

AMANDA Boohoo on the tonsilitis. How awful. Specially when you have to move. I hope it all goes smoothly for you

AMY I remember reading some threads on night terrors. Frightening stuff. From what I read (here on BB somewhere), they tend to start around B's age. I hope it was just a once off for her

SAMI I'm so with you on the BF thing. How's Z been with the bottle this weekend? 8 months is excellent to have BF for. My original goal was 3months

    A big HELLO to everyone.

We're doin dandy. I have decided to no longer stress about BJ's sleeping & (BF) feeding. I'm just going with the flow now. The routine is out the window.

BJ is doing his best to try to crawl. He still moves backwards though.

And the squeeling is become less now that he's finally started babbling instead.

One of my mothers group have organised a get together today, with partners.... I'm gonna look like a single mum cause DH is working. I'm taking some expressed milk so I can have a couple of wines..

    afternoon ladies & bubbas

not much going on here ...besides the fact i have a little boy who is waking up 2/3 times a night now!!!!! driving me batty. First wake is usually 45/60mins after being put down...picked up and resettled...back to bed...second wake time is usually around 10pmish....i leave him then and he grizzles/has a cry on/off for around 20/30mins...then back off to sleep...it really is doing my head in. It has only really started since his topt teeth have come down and 1 has come through.
He is a little grizzle bum of late.....fussing with his bottle crying non-stop....VERY clingy...i just hope it ends soon

still no proper crawling although he does try when he is up on his hands and knees..and also does alot of rocking back/forth on his hands/knees.

    Hey girly twirls

Georgi - Z's day sleeps are all over the place but at least I can rely on his night sleep - it is so good and consistent - of course an occasional wakeful one but honestly over all (and after having other kids and knowign how good and bad it can be) he is brilliant. I dont mind feeding him at 4amish cos he goes straight back to sleep and refuses his dummy too for some reason lol

Bottle a failure, i think the bottle combined with a try of formula was just too much. And I think mebbe he is too told to try and learn to suck again if that makes sense - it does to me - so we have decided instead to try and pursue a cup thingy. I have Avent bottles so have just bought a couple of new attachments to make it a sippy cup - see how he goes with that. I have 2 months to get him to take it - so even if he just has formula at child care on the 2 days and I still b/f for now, it is something. If I know he will take it then I still have freedom to go out if I want to and not worry - and it shouldnt muck around with my supply too much cos lots of people do it. Anyway, baby steps - literally. I never meant to just boobie feed him without a bottle for this long - it has just kind of happened and with DH travelling why express and bottle when it was just so much work when I was by myself with the other kids (sorry belfie hun, you know what I mean).

ANyway, we will try that later when he wakes up - hopefully not as many tears.

Been to a party this morning so having a quiet afternoon in just hanging out with everyone - rare these days.

    hugs
    x

Sami - Just wondering how do you know what the base of each formula is? And also how is a formula beef based. Isn't it all milk based? I found those Advent sippy teat things didn't work for Maya. You really have to suck hard for anything to come out of them. So I ended up buying her a Mag Mag and she's able to drink from that.

amy - I hope you get some answers this week.

Amanda - Sounds like Julian is doing very well with his teeth and near crawling. I hope you are over your tonsillitis quickly.

Georgi - I went to try out high chairs at a baby shop and found one I liked. Then found one on ebay but missed out on it. And there's no more coming up on ebay. BUT on the weekend I was at the baby shop with my DH and he wanted to try it out and then got Maya's fingers jammed in the tray and oh did she scream. Then I saw on Choice that it's not recommended cos children can get their hands jammed easily. But it's the only one that fits her. So now I don't know what to do. *sigh*

fluff - Could he be getting sick? Or more teeth? Maya woke a lot before she got sick recently.

Well.. things haven't been great here. I had the UTI which ended up being very bad cos I didn't recognise what it was and left going to the doctor very late. But I am finally feeling better now. On Friday I went to a shopping centre and Maya started absolutely bawling a couple of times which is so unlike her! Then she woke a few times that night. On Saturday we went to a baby shop to look at car seats (I've still been using the capsule cos she's fit in it but now think it would be nice to have a more comfy seat - any recommendations?) Anyway, at the shop Maya bawled a couple of times (once cos DH jammed her fingers in a high chair . And then she started making a horrible barking noise. It kept getting worse and worse and sounded horrible and mucusy. Then on Saturday night she vomited and was so upset. Sunday we took her to the doctor and her ear looks like it might turn into an ear infection and she has bronchiolitis. There's nothing we can do at the moment cept keep her warm, fed and as happy as we can. Poor girl. It's heartbreaking hearing her cough and moan and cry.

Tanya - info I obtained from the nutritionist I saw with Zander a few weeks ago, and confirmed by the pharmacy I go to

I have having a major meltdown at the moment. Child care have offered us a place from mid July 2 days a week and we need to take it otherwise unlikely to get another spot until January - but Zander still wont take a bottle - cant let him go if he wont eat and wont drink something - abuse the poor bubba LOL. We are on day 5 of trying a bottle - and still no luck Waaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh - but hubby has been great and said we will take the spot if he is not quite ready, just pay for a few weeks and keep on trying - no wonder I love him

Tanya - hope Maya is not too sick - how is she in herself during the day - hopefully not teary and clingy cos that is such hard work ....

Fluff - they like to keep us guessing hey - but if he self settled that is great for you guys, especially being able to go back to sleep too.

Georgi - I still plan to b/f for a while - but need some space from it so am planning to do 2 x bottles during the day and still b/f morning and night - but mebbe Zander has other plans for me LOL

Belfie - where are you sneaky thing ......

Amanda - hope your packing is not too draining and you are starting to feel better too

Amy - reading all yoru posts hun - hang in there these things challenge us but show us how strong we can be

Z has changed sleep again hehehe - he is now (3 days in a row ) been having about 1.5 hours in the morning now - what the?? But then 50 mins and 30 mins later on for the day ..... So if things arent done by lunchtime, it all falls to crap in the late afternoons

*Tanya* - oooh that's no good re bronchiolitis and your UTI! What a right PITA! Hope you all get better soon.

fluff-a-holic - has demon child been replaced with model child yet?

Georgi - hope the wine was good! He is looking soooo cute!

SamiH - I want to know the same thing as Tanya, how do you know? (re the formula base). Well I've got a bit of renewed determination after seeing the dietician who basically said the studies have shown if I introduce the foods while he's on BM that's the most protective thing I can do (re avoiding our intolerances & malabsorptions)... so think I'm gonna keep going for a bit lol. Just saw ur post! snap!

X is doing lots of rocking on all fours, shuffling backwards and rolling rolling rolling. Plus we're getting bwub bwub bwub bwaaaah bwub - both to get to sleep and when we wake up. All we hear is bwub bwub! It's too cute.

Sami - Yeah Maya has been much more clingy and teary during the day. I wish there was something I could do to make her better.

Re: Taking a bottle - Have you tried a Mag Mag? It's soooo much easier to get fluids out of. I actually bought the pack where you get three different teats - a bottle teat, sippy cup head and a straw attachment. It took a few goes with the sippy head but now Maya drinks from it by herself (well sometimes with a bit of help from me to lift it high enough P.S. I know it's easier cos I tired both the Avent sippy attachment and the MagMag sippy head myself.

Hmm I really can't understand what part of the formula is beef based or vegetable based. I thought it was all just milk mixed with vitamins and minerals. I believe you when you say it though. I've been using the S26 and haven't really thought about it cos just assumed that all the formulas were the same thing pretty much. TBH it doesn't bother me what it's based on though. Or is there something I'm missing?

belfie - Yay on the fifth tooth and sounds like you'll have a crawler soon.

I'm going to take Maya back to the doctors this afternoon for a check up. I just want to make sure she isn't developing an ear infection. She does seem to be a bit better in some ways (her chest isn't sounding as bad now). But now she has head cold symptoms - very runny, snotty nose. So that's been great with trying to feed her - NOT! Cos she can't breathe well. Poor girl.

I myself am feeling a lot better now. Yay for anti-biotics.

Hmm.. Maya doesn't get up on her knees at all. I sometimes try and put her on her knees but she automatically swings her legs out so that she's lying flat on the ground. She does roll a lot now and she turns herself around using her hands. She has also discovered that she can push herself backwards with her hands. So she can move herself about the room a lot now. But I don't think she'll be crawling any time soon.

BELFIE - Wow, a 5th tooth! Bottom or top? Yes, the wine was good thanks. I had 2, but Bj wouldn't take his sippy cup of EBM. I kept offering it all afternoon. I even offered the boob, thinking a little wine won't hurt, but he didn't want that either. Oh well. It's not like he desperately needs it or anything

SAMI - You'll probably find that Z is completely different by July. They change so much in just a month. You never know, he may be eating like a king & scoffing down his bottles.

TANYA - Have you considered getting a chair like the one BJ has, the one I put on the floor? They are portable & only $40. M would fit into it perfectly cause they're quite compact. oh, and poor maya getting her little fingers stuck

FLUFF - How's the demon child today?

I feel terrible today! AF is back, for the second time, and boy do I know it. I have a terrible headache & bad cramps. And of course, I am so tired cause BJ decided to wake at 2am. I fed him, as he didn't take his dream feed at 10.30pm so I assumed he's be hungry. I should've known better. Every time I feed him during the night eg 2 or 3am, it always makes him continue to wake for the rest of the morning. I didn't leave him to re settle cause I thought he wouldn't. Now I wish I did cause he may have gone back to sleep. Instead, he woke again at 4am. I left him for 15mins but he ended up getting really cranky. I didn't want to spend an hour trying to re settle him, so I fed him again. He finally went back to sleep but woke at 6am. It wouldn't be so bad if I could get back to sleep each time. But no.... Once I'm awake, that's pretty much it for me. Plus, DH's alarm went off at 5am, so even if I did get back to sleep, I would've been woken again anyway.

Boohoo... That's my big Moo for the day.

BJ is whinging like mad...... What's wrong with him?????

    Hugs to Georgi....
Umm I am sure I have more to say but the speech pathologist will be here in about 20min.

Tanya~~ hope Maya feels better soon, I know how rough it is with Broncolitis!! And owie on the hands getting stuck!

Belfie~~ 5 tooths wow!! Give X a highfive from us!

Sami~~ Like everything at the moment Bethany had sippy cup issues, we are still working on it but something that worked was I just stuck it on the floor for her to expore and play with and when a saw she had it in her mouth I gently tipped it so she got some liquid. Now she is nearly flying solo. Ok I did end up with a living room flood when she figured out how to take the lid off one but I just put that cup away!!

Fluff~~ Wanna go halves in an exorsist?? hahahaha

Ok well now I only have 10mins!! BBL no doubt.

Zander already has a sippy cup that we use for water so that is all good - I wanted a different one for milk though,, and actually thought making him suck for it would be good because that's what he has to do when b/f to stimulate a let down etc. I plan on doing both bottle and boob for a while.

Re : formulas - I dont wanna come across preachy so please dont interpret it that way - I respect others choices and decision - but I have chosen vege based for lots of reasons - one being our bodies are not really made to digest a lot of meat (which I am sure you already know lol) - so giving my baby a beef based product when going from breastmilk could make it really hard for him to digest - hence going the vege formula way. It could give him a sore tummy, constipation and all those things that make us feel yucky if and when we eat too much meat too (which I often do at a BBQ when it all tastes so nice LOL). I dont wanna complicate it any more than I have to with trying the bottle. For some people it isn't an issue - prob like Maya cos she has been having some formula for a while and her system is used to it now.

Well, he took 10mls this arvo LOL. I just let him play with it - it was cold this time, not fridge cold but room cold whereas my other kids liked it warm so thats what i did the other days - try something different.

I am going back to work on 10/08 2 days a week in the office to start - childcare starts on 03/08 - and surprisingly I feel ok about it, which means I am ready to go back to work too. The room leader is the same one when Riley started at 10 months and has also looked after Giselle when she started too so I am very comfortable with that. Just this damn bottle business

I nearly backed off trying today cos I looked at his gums and he has finally the tooth cutting - but he has been pretty cruisey still - lets hope tonight is still a good one :0
