We are starting with mummy, daddy and dummy. We'll add bottle in a few weeks and then just use those 4 till she is a bit older and we will gradually add others. I found an easy chart with 13 main signs so we will just use that and then add AUSLAN signs as needed. I can't wait for her first sign back! I vote for mummy, DH for daddy and in reality it will probably be dummy!!!

teru...dummies..it is up to you..there is no right or wrong...really it is personal choice. Your photos look great!!!

Jack....well we are still drinking small amounts but atleast he is drinking!!! he is sick..he has bronchiolitis and possibly a urinary infection (waiting on test results) so at times he is NOT a happy camper!! he is sleeping soo much more, only because he is sick though... I will weigh him tomorrow to see if he has lost any weight with not drinking properly.

Hi girls... Here's a link to the Auslan website. You can enter the word you want to know how to sign and it will demonstrate it.

    Auslan - Signbank

I sign alot to Byron. Songs and just general chit chat. Amy is right, start straight away. My niece was signing way before she could talk. It was so easy cause we knew what she wanted. We would ask her if she wanted milk (with sign) & if she signed milk back we knew she wanted some, if she didn't sign back then we knew she didn't want any. I took her to a baby shower once & she was the life of the party. She was about 15 months old & was signing so so many words. Everyone was shocked at how smart she was te he he.. The best way to teach them is to sign whilst saying the word, then get their hand/s & make them do it. I think they'll start showing the signs around 9 months.

Byron slept from 8.30pm to 7am, and even then I woke him up. He hadn't fed since 7pm so I figured he would be hungry for sure but he just fussed over the bb.

My mum arrived from Sydney on Sunday to meet her 1st grandson (my sister has 3 girls). She adores him, of course! She leaves boxing day then Dh's family arrive, then my sister & her girls are coming up. What a way to spend the festive season. It's great.

Georgi - i will check the site out

Ashley gives us signs she made up herself lol...

Waves hand at her nose- means she did a poo/wee
Circles her finger in the palm of her other hand - means she wants to watch the night garden
Taps her head - means she wants bert and ernie

    lol

i guess it makes it easier for them to communicate. At the moment she chatters away and only has about 10 words so i seem frustrating for her

    So might start with Ethan!

My parents arrive today too. my mum is in love with Ethan lol - same thing. first grandson.. (has 2 granddaughters - ashley is the eldest)... she just dotes over him non stop lol

Heading into southbank i think for the xmas parade and fireworks tongight
    - finally some christmas spirit.. it seems to come and go so quickly now we ar all grown up

that is such a great idea re using signs, I'd never thought of that. Thanks for the link Georgi!

Katones - aaw poor little Jack, hope he's feeling better (and drinking more!) soon.

PP - that's so cute re your mum. My MIL is currently besotted with X (first grandchild) whereas my mum loves him but he's 5th grandchild & 3rd grandson, so not QUITE so special (but she's my mum so it's all good still!).

    Teruteru - gorgeous pics!

We're must be having our 12 week growth spurt. He feed SIX times yesterday (usual is 4) and even took 300ml at one feed, what the.....!?!?! He was just SOOOOOOO hungry! I had two back-up EBM bags in the freezer (150ml ea) and i've had to break into one... fingers crossed I can keep up with him!!!! We're going to DH's work Xmas do today... as Xander Claus of course... should be fun. I'm about to put on clothes that aren't tracky pants hahah what a concept hey! Plus we finally finished the Xmas/thank-you cards last night... YAY!!!

We're having Xmas at MIL's... we've hosted for the last few years (cos IL's were in Canberra) so it'll be great to not have to host. I'm gonna sit around like Lady Muck

PP - Thanks for the suggestion of using a spouted cup! I might buy one today and see if that will work.

belfie - Have fun at the Xmas do. Xander is so cute in his outfit.

teruteru - Maya won't take a dummy, but she loves her hand! So you might find even if you decide to give Dragon a dummy that he won't take it. Oh and cute pics! I wanted to get a photo shoot done of Maya but didn't want to pay lots of $$ for it. So got a cheap one done and the photos are crap! Your pics look great!

katones - I hope Jack is feeling better soon!

Georgi - Thanks for the Auslan link. I love the idea of teaching Maya signing!

I spent the last couple of days trying to get Maya to drink from a bottle! I've tried different teats but she just will not suck on them! If she's relaxed she will accept the teat in her mouth but that's it. And after a short time she gets upset with the teat sitting in her mouth. I am SO frustrated by the whole thing at the moment. And feeling down about it because I was SO hoping I could have time out for myself sometimes! Our plan was to leave Maya with my MIL on Xmas Eve while we went out for dinner, but now we'll have to bring her with us.

Apart from going crazy trying to get Maya to drink from a bottle I was also madly trying to finish off my Xmas cards and then posted them yesterday!

Oh and Maya has suddenly been feeding more the last two days. She woke at 3am last night for the first time in a while! I don't know if it's growth spurt or maybe cos it was so hot!
