LADIES WE FELL off the first page - gosh I hope everyone is ok today, or just busy in preparation for Christmas.
Having said that, I have nothing to say anyway - first day of school holidays I thoroughly wore the kids out with a play at a play centre, lunch at a park, and then swimming for a couple of hours in the backyard blow-up.
Tomorrow, grocery shopping for perishables for christmas
Busy with Christmas madness here, why is it everytime I think I have finished wrapping gifts there is another one waiting in the corner?? More to the point why can't DH wrap gifts?
Also starting to do signing to Bethany, she is interactive and watching us as we talk so good time to introduce it. We are just starting with 3 signs. I know that it will be a while till she signs back but hey gotta start at some point!!
Belfie... lol its our right as mothers to dress them up in cute clothes
Amy - what signs are you doing?
Sammi -we have 15 here thursday for lunch!! and i have no vacuum cleaner as DH's bro borrowed it an hasnt returned it arhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We are starting with mummy, daddy and dummy. We'll add bottle in a few weeks and then just use those 4 till she is a bit older and we will gradually add others. I found an easy chart with 13 main signs so we will just use that and then add AUSLAN signs as needed. I can't wait for her first sign back! I vote for mummy, DH for daddy and in reality it will probably be dummy!!!
amy- good on u for teaching her sign language, hopefully she can communicate with her grandparents in the future
re dummies: dragon is addicted to sucking n tends to suck his hand esp when tryin to fall asleep so should i use a dummy or not?! i dont really want to but DP doesnt see y not...

teru...dummies..it is up to you..there is no right or wrong...really it is personal choice. Your photos look great!!!
Jack....well we are still drinking small amounts but atleast he is drinking!!! he is sick..he has bronchiolitis and possibly a urinary infection (waiting on test results) so at times he is NOT a happy camper!! he is sleeping soo much more, only because he is sick though... I will weigh him tomorrow to see if he has lost any weight with not drinking properly.
Teru - up to you.
i was against it with DD - but gave in and glad i did lol! she only has it in bed now.. we stopped day time use at 8 months
DS we try but he really doesnt like the dummy. prefers his hand lol
I sign alot to Byron. Songs and just general chit chat. Amy is right, start straight away. My niece was signing way before she could talk. It was so easy cause we knew what she wanted. We would ask her if she wanted milk (with sign) & if she signed milk back we knew she wanted some, if she didn't sign back then we knew she didn't want any. I took her to a baby shower once & she was the life of the party. She was about 15 months old & was signing so so many words. Everyone was shocked at how smart she was te he he.. The best way to teach them is to sign whilst saying the word, then get their hand/s & make them do it. I think they'll start showing the signs around 9 months.
Byron slept from 8.30pm to 7am, and even then I woke him up. He hadn't fed since 7pm so I figured he would be hungry for sure but he just fussed over the bb.
My mum arrived from Sydney on Sunday to meet her 1st grandson (my sister has 3 girls). She adores him, of course! She leaves boxing day then Dh's family arrive, then my sister & her girls are coming up. What a way to spend the festive season. It's great.
Waves hand at her nose- means she did a poo/wee
Circles her finger in the palm of her other hand - means she wants to watch the night garden
Taps her head - means she wants bert and ernie
lol
i guess it makes it easier for them to communicate. At the moment she chatters away and only has about 10 words so i seem frustrating for her
So might start with Ethan!
My parents arrive today too. my mum is in love with Ethan lol - same thing. first grandson.. (has 2 granddaughters - ashley is the eldest)... she just dotes over him non stop lol
Heading into southbank i think for the xmas parade and fireworks tongight
- finally some christmas spirit.. it seems to come and go so quickly now we ar all grown up
PP - that's so cute re your mum. My MIL is currently besotted with X (first grandchild) whereas my mum loves him but he's 5th grandchild & 3rd grandson, so not QUITE so special (but she's my mum so it's all good still!).
Teruteru - gorgeous pics!
We're must be having our 12 week growth spurt. He feed SIX times yesterday (usual is 4) and even took 300ml at one feed, what the.....!?!?! He was just SOOOOOOO hungry! I had two back-up EBM bags in the freezer (150ml ea) and i've had to break into one... fingers crossed I can keep up with him!!!! We're going to DH's work Xmas do today... as Xander Claus of course... should be fun. I'm about to put on clothes that aren't tracky pants hahah what a concept hey! Plus we finally finished the Xmas/thank-you cards last night... YAY!!!
We're having Xmas at MIL's... we've hosted for the last few years (cos IL's were in Canberra) so it'll be great to not have to host. I'm gonna sit around like Lady Muck

PP - Thanks for the suggestion of using a spouted cup! I might buy one today and see if that will work.
belfie - Have fun at the Xmas do. Xander is so cute in his outfit.
teruteru - Maya won't take a dummy, but she loves her hand! So you might find even if you decide to give Dragon a dummy that he won't take it. Oh and cute pics! I wanted to get a photo shoot done of Maya but didn't want to pay lots of $$ for it. So got a cheap one done and the photos are crap! Your pics look great!
katones - I hope Jack is feeling better soon!
Georgi - Thanks for the Auslan link. I love the idea of teaching Maya signing!
I spent the last couple of days trying to get Maya to drink from a bottle! I've tried different teats but she just will not suck on them! If she's relaxed she will accept the teat in her mouth but that's it. And after a short time she gets upset with the teat sitting in her mouth. I am SO frustrated by the whole thing at the moment. And feeling down about it because I was SO hoping I could have time out for myself sometimes! Our plan was to leave Maya with my MIL on Xmas Eve while we went out for dinner, but now we'll have to bring her with us.
Apart from going crazy trying to get Maya to drink from a bottle I was also madly trying to finish off my Xmas cards and then posted them yesterday!
Oh and Maya has suddenly been feeding more the last two days. She woke at 3am last night for the first time in a while! I don't know if it's growth spurt or maybe cos it was so hot!
Well I won't have the brain space to reply to everyone, but I have read all posts.
I've had a busy few days again, Friday arvo Cody ended up with the gastro bug for 24hrs, not good. On Saturday night we had DH work christmas party and it was great, except there was another party on at the same time and they were drinking a fair bit and were getting louder and louder, poor Julian was finding it hard to sleep, DH ended up taking him outside and putting him to sleep, but I had some drunk lady leaning on the pram once he was back in it and I pulled the pram out from under her and she nearly fell over, lol, was very funny, she then apoligised and walked away.
Yesterday we had a friends daughters 8th birthday party at a park and it was great got the kids out of the house and let them run wild for a few hours, was great.
I made some rum balls (adults) and marshmallow truffles (kids) on Sunday and I'm making some short bread toady and will be making some other things tomorrow getting ready for christmas day, oh the joy of hosting christmas.
well we had a lovely (busy) day going to DH's work Xmas lunch. We were the only partner/child extras (i.e. non-workers) - a special case as they all wanted to meet X. It was so nice, his boss was saying how he's never seen a workplace (small company) follow a PG and birth so closely... and they all had cuddles with X who behaved himself beautifully. I, of course, paid the price afterwards when he was over-tired, over-stimulated and windy... but it was worth it at the time!
And all my Xmas/thank-you cards are sent... (about time) all I need to do now is cooking, decorate the tree and wrap the presents. But I've got a whole day for that yaaaaaay!
AmandaJ - can I have a rumball pls? I have delusions of making some... it so won't happen!
Tanya - hope you got your chrissie cards done too!
Katones - cute pic, how is he doing now?
hi to everyone else, hope your Xmas preparations are going well
Belfie I'll express post you one , sounds like it was a nice xmas party except for the overtired boy at the end, I know how that goes as that was Julian on Saturday night.
OMG I had to battle the shops yesterday arvo and it was not bad but not good either, I had to get DH gift, I had Julian with me and he was so good, slept for the first half the other half he was just looking around.
I also have a lot of food prep to do today so don't know how much I will be on, then after the kids go to bed tonight we will have a marathon present wrapping.
OMG Julian just did his first laugh just now, so cute.
