aaww I think the 6 week growth spurt varies massively. For us it was only 2 evenings - sorry I don't know if you want to hear that but on the bright side, you might be coming out the other side of it now? I hope things get better for you both.

Kuraiza - Fenugreek does come on it's own - I got the Nature's Own brand from a pharmacy. I didn't want to get it with other stuff in there. As for bleeding, I would have thought you'd want to get that checked out. I thought (could be wrong) that you shouldn't be still bleeding (and getting heavier) at 7 weeks. Good luck with it all hun sounds like the extra pair of hands with your mum will be much appreciated.

amy_o - did you have your GTT at 6 weeks? No-one has given me a referral but i'm sure my endo said 12 weeks (which puts mine on Xmas day ha!). I know SHOULD follow it up, but I don't really want to!

Holly & Katones - good for you deciding what is right for both of you re BF'ing! I was getting to a similar point, just so much frustration & grief. My LC put it well when she said at the end of the day, you want to be able to enjoy your baby!!

SamiH - good luck giving Z the bottle, sounds like you're getting great EBM.

We had a catch-up with our hospital birth class group today - was heaps of fun and I loved seeing all the other bubba's (since my mother's group doesn't start till Dec ). X is the podgiest for sure! He was also the oldest in the group by half a week, but not the biggest - one was born 10lb 7oz. Was fascinating to see how many c-sections - quite a few, the vag births seemed to be the minority.

I've got extra bits so I can express both sides now - honestly it's the best thing... 12 mins and I'm done - it's just heaven. I never thought I'd be so excited about such a thing! I'm getting closer and closer to getting rid of the formula... We had a little BF feed today - he happily splurted milk everywhere (seriously I think he actually blew raspberries on my boob when breathing out!) and managed to SOAK his sleeve - despite wearing a bib and then we finished the feed by bottle. Soooo glad we're doing what we're doing and not trying to feed seriously on the boobs! The bottles are business and the boobies are recreational (I'm sure my DH would agree with that too )

    hey girls.

oh watta day. Mia has a skitzo time every day now. Its between the 1pm ish and 3pm ish feeds. She wants to stay awake during this time but she gets herself so overtires by doing so. But 2:30pm i was going loony so we all jumped in the car and went to big w coz i needed some more baby wipes anyway. It seemed to do the trick and she slept until about 4pm and then had her feed. Which was boobie and 50mls of formula. I then fell asleep with her at 5pm and i woke back up at 6 and shes still asleep. She woke a little before for a little spew and went back to sleep. Wondering whether ill give her a bath tonight or tomorrow. More than likley tomorrow coz im exhausted.

She seems to have a sweat/heat rash on her forehead. Is there anything, like creams or something i can get for this? I cant seem to get it to go away. She is also very rashy on her face and quite pimply... is anyone else bub like this?

Belfie - im with u on the expressing hun, it is much easier for us too. I still like to give Mia abit of boobie time too so she doesnt reject it all together. She has had a fair bit of breastmilk today which gives me a little sense of acheivment. IYKWIM. Im feeling confident that we can get back to full breastmilk in the future. I think DP misses the boobie "interaction" lol it would be funny if he got a mouthful of breast milk! Ahhh my mothers group doesnt start till january, im shattered but cant wait to see all the other mummies and bubbies. Im hanging out to catch up with the girls from the antenatal class too, i have seen one and she was born one day after Mia. She is also having BFing issues, its amazing how many ppl actually do.

Im still bleeding too its never gonna go away. Right when i think its leaving i get lots. ho hum..

What formula is everyone using? Im starting to wonder if the Karicare Gold+ is a little heavy for Mia's tummy.

We use S26, We did use S26 Alpha Pro but after talking to our babycare nurse she and we thought it was causing constipation for Bethany. We switched to the normal and haven't looked back.

we are using NAN gold pro.. it is what Jack was fed in hospital in the SCN/NICU (well same brand... he was on premmie formula even though he wasn't premmie it had higher calories in it)

Jack has a rash on his cheeks/neck/forhead... he has excema/dermatitus... Dr said to put sorbelene on him but if it doesn;t go we will be trying a steroid cream. We are seeing our paed tomorrow... so shall see what he says....

As for bleeding...finished a while ago...

formula: karicare normal (NOT the gold - was told it wasn't necessary for us, but he's only getting comp feeds so apparently get's omega 3's through my EBM & doesn't need 'em in the formula). I also heard that Heinz Nurture is very gentle on little tummies but haven't tried it.

X has hormone or milk pimples - i've read not to put anything on them but his skin was very dry and sorbolene wasn't really helping it. Paediatrician told us to use Dermaveen Moisturising lotion (and QV wash/oil in bath if using anything) and his skin has been HEAPS better. DH has exczema & dermatitis, so we're fairly paranoid re skin care. Dermaveen sits near change table and then I try to put it on him quite regularly.

BTW, X did such a big poop the other day that when I changed his nappy, a) it had leaked out the FRONT and b) I could hardly see his little willy for all the poop! Just had to share that with you all

Hmm Amy - weird on the GTT dunno why no-one told me to do it at 6 weeks - was on insulin also. Go figure oh well - I'll just keep eating chocolate

I can't believe it but Maya went down at 10pm last night (when normally we can't get her down before 11pm!) and then slept till 5.30am when she started making noises but i didn't get up to her till 6am. I put her back in bed at 7.30am and she then slept till 10am. Though I think this will be a once off occurrence which was caused from not sleeping enough during the day. Today she's had more sleep, so I don't imagine she'll sleep through again. But gosh it was nice to get some sleep!

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow when DH is back at work for a week. Everything seems a little easier when he's around.

amy - Sounds like you've joined the 6 week phase. Hopefully it doesn't last too long!

kuraiza - I hope the gastro goes soon. It must be so hard looking after Jude and being so sick!

HOllye - ashley was on s26 gold

as for heat rash i wouldnt be applying sorbelene as it is meant to moisurise and this isnt what you want.

You can use powders and dress light so it does occur?

    DS has it too

well Mia fed at 4pm and slept till 9! then fed again and had her medicine and shes still asleep now. Ive worked out a good thing with the Nilstat.. i give her a little and then put her dummy in her mouth, then a little more and so on. This means its going right around her mouth and all over her tongue and not straight down her throat. Her last dose she didnt even cry but her eyes watered a little. Poor little munchkin!

I expressed some more earlier but only about 60mls so her next feed is that and then some top up formula.

Im gonna see what the doc says tomorrow about this rashiness... thanks for the advice girls.

anyway im outa here.. get ready for bed and stuff.

    mwah xoxoxoxo

ETA - yeh she gets dressed pretty lightly so it doesnt seem she is overheating but as soon as she does sweat she gets a horrible rash, its kinds like she is allergic to her own sweat!! lol my poor rashy, blotchy pimply little girl!

Hollye I bled up to nearly 5 weeks and I think with my other boys I nearly bled up to the 6 week mark, so who knows . Julian also has the heat/pimply rash as well, his face is also a bit dryish, so might see the Dr this week too.

Belfie Julian did one of those poo's yesterday, boy it takes a bit to clean doesn't it .

PP Yeah it was cold up hear again last night, I hope that since he had such a bad night last night he might sleep better for you today, I've msn'ed what else I want too.

Well I've got to go to the Dr's sometime this week for my 6 week check up, don't really have any concerns tho so might be alright, don't need a pap smear as I only had one last year, don't need the mini pill as I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't get pg while b/fing.

I love my new hair and the BB dinner on Sat was great too, met some more BBers.

    Ok boy awake now, bbl.

    hugs xoxo

    morning girls.

not the best night. She just seemed to be unsettled all night. Im thinking it might have been the chill in the air too. Oh well theres always tonight.. lol
She had her 1/2 BM and 1/2 formula feed at 11:30pm lastnight. She drank all the BM but only 20 mls of the formula and went straight to sleep. She also had a BF yesterday but shes still pulling off every 3-4 sucks. ho hum Might express all today and give the BF a try again tomorrow.

PP: You don't swaddle? Jude would never sleep if he wasn't swaddled, well rarely anyway. He'd wake himself up punching himself in the face if he wasn't very tightly swaddled. He tries to Houdini out, but his arms are trapped.

Hollye: How's her attachment? Sometimes if I'm not thrilled with Jude's attachment I pull down his bottom lip while he sucking to make sure it's folded out, and sometimes I have to flip out his top lip.

Has everyone been going to mothers group already? I haven't been to any sessions for a million reasons and there's only 2 left on the current schedule. I have to get the next schedule and start going before I go completely insane.

I'm so happy today because my husband is home for "his" weekend and that means I get 2 days of relative calm before the storm again. I hung out with my BILs last night and that was nice and relaxing (they're infinitely better than the MIL that produced them all, how SHE managed to raise nice boys is beyond me, but then they're all mummy's boys - or should I say mommy's boys ... ahem sorry about my rant).

Still sick but going to try to eat properly today because Jude needs nutrients in his milk.

whoa watta morning. Unsettled spewy little girl here who is FINALLY asleep! I wonder if she could be going through her 6 week stage a little early?

Kuraiza - its so hard to reach her bottom lip as we always do the football hold, the other way just doesnt work. But her next BF ill have a good look at her attachment. thanks darl.

doctors appointment at 2pm.. if i start getting ready now i just might be there on time!

re bleeding - as of this morning it seems i have started another period. The other bleeding didnt even stop but it got much heavier this morning . I think im doomed to bleed the rest of my life. Thats what u get when u have PCOS i guess and then a baby.. all them missed periods and then its payback time! whahahaa!
