Kat - on the bruars ethan has the biggest liquid poo-plosions!!!! but is very satisfied afterwards lol

Well ethan woke at a10, 1, 3 , 5 and 7 over night. so we are still on this stupid 2 hrly wakes overnight. THen had a major poo that eventuated into a bath!!! as there was enough there for him to float to china on! And has beena dream all morning... i wonder if i can get him to do a big poo like that at 9pm... then sleep all night like he does all day!

well jack slept last night (in bed with me) from 8.30pm til 2.10am :D then fed/bum changed and slept til 6.30am :D fed/bum change slept til 9.30am.

he was weighed & measured today....

is now:-
5.04kgs
57.5cms long
38cms head circ.

since discharge from hospital he has put on 1.055kgs :D

Well.. Maya has finally exceeded her birth weight!!!! :hooray: That's such a relief. I've felt like I've been doing something wrong with her feeds because she lost so much weight initially! But it looks like feeding on demand is working well. She put on 350 grams in 2 weeks. So now she weighs 4.2 kg, length 54 cm and head 37 cm. :D

I went to a mother's group meeting today as well. It was so nice meeting other mums in the area and seeing other bubs.

csab - That's great re Olivia's weight gain! She'll also exceed her birth weight soon. :)

SamiH - I'm off to see Andre Rieu. I bought tickets before I was pregnant. Though I must admit I feel a little guilty about leaving her so that I can go to a concert! I hope I can still enjoy it.

katones - Sounds like your little man is doing great in weight gain too. :)

Morning All

PP - I hope Ethan settles down with his feeds soon hun, cant imagine being up so often feeding bubs at night. I hope you are getting some rest thru the day at least. hugs

Itsme - Congratulations on Maya finally reaching her birth weight. Thats excellant news. Your right Olivia will reach her birth weight in no time. If you can believe I have her in a 6 zero romper at the moment. I have never seen a 6 zero before and when I found that I had to buy it just to see if it fits her. hehehe. Her 5 zeros are still a bit big.

Well as for Olivia, ever since she was in hospital she loved her sleep, so thankfully she is still having her 5-61/2hr sleeps at night, so she only wakes up once a night which is excellant. Yet I have to say compared to all of my others she sleeps a bit less of a night. My others use to go anywhere from 8hrs and up a night at her age. She just loves her cuddles, and I just love giving them to her. hehehe. I love her little gooos and gagas to and the way she has her lips puckered up as if she is going to kiss you. She has the most serious little look on her, it is just soooooo cute.....

I had a terrible afternoon and evening yesterday! Maya was mostly up (with a few short naps here and there) from 3pm till 11.30pm. She was unsettled and crying heaps (which is unusual for her). But she would eventually settle if I held her against my chest. I just couldn't put her down at all! I was wondering if the heat could have made her more unsettled than usual? It was a 35 degree day in Melbourne. I made sure she had more feeds because I thought she'd need the extra fluids. But even that didn't seem to calm her. :( Happily she ended up sleeping from 11.30 till 5.30 (probably because she was so exhausted!!) and I put her back down at 6.30 and she's still sleeping at 10.30.

Itsme - Your BF arent you? I have noticed with Olivia she is on the BB's every afternoon at around 3.30pm on and off until she goes to bed between 9.30-10.30pm, when she is building up my milk she is alot more unsettled and wont sleep just doses, until around midnight with her feeds on and off from 3.30pm as well. The next night she is back to normal until her next episode. She also relaxes alot more when I bath her just before her last feed before bed. She also wants me to hold her constantly of an afternoon. Its a wonder I can get dinner started and finished hehehe.

Itsme - Logan was very unsettled yesterday evening too - all the same things as you, would only let us hold him to settle, wanted more feeds but wouldn't really suck, it was very unusual. I put it down to the heat too. In the end we got him down to sleep about 10pm and he woke at 2:30 and then 5:30 for feeds through the night. He is much more settled at the moment.
See how we go today as it is supposed to be hot again.

Cheryl - I can't imagine how tiny a six 0 suit must be, Olivia sounds like a little doll compared to Logan. He came out straight into 000 clothes and has already got back to his birth weight in just over a week (4.34kg)!!

Csab...i think we need some more piccies of Olivia!!!!
Jack was staright in 000's and won't be in them for much longer i would say!!! He is over 5kgs now.. his birth weight was 4.2kgs...
i just can't believe how fast time goes now....

well i went out to the toy sale at target this morning... came home $500 poorer!! bought Jack a chrissie present and bought the older two (more likely hubby) a Wii for christmas... Jack was good and slept the whole time :)

csab - Yes I am BF and Maya also does the same thing. She is more unsettled in the late afternoon and evening, feeds more often and wants to be held more. But yesterday was particularly bad. Normally I can eventually put her down for a while, but every time I tried she started bawling. And normally I have her in bed by 8pm to 10pm but yesterday she was up till 11.30pm.

kylieb77 - Yeah I really think the heat caused Maya to be more unsettled. She's doing OK at the moment though. :crossfingers: And hopefully the cool change will come soon!

Well I had fun this afternoon. Maya did sooooooooo much poop! It was all through her nappy! Then I went to change her and when I took her nappy off she did more poop and it shot across the room! So I've had fun cleaning that off the carpet and furniture! :wall:

oh yes Itsme.. the Lurvely squirting/shooting poos!!!! thank god we have floorboards!! i have lost count how many times Jack has shiat on the floor when i have his nappy off changing him :) and wees...

Itsme: There's an Egyptian Hieroglyphic for the unsettled time in the evening from dusk til midnight when a baby won't sleep. My husband and I call it "the egyptian hour". Personally I don't like it much, I never get to sleep when I want but it'll pass.

Csab: Wow 6 0s, where did you find such a piece of clothing? It must be the most adorable little thing ever!

Jude was weighed this week at 3.24kg so that's almost average birth weight (at 5 weeks, heheh). He's steadily putting on around 200g each week which is good. it amazes me how different babies can be born such dramatically different sizes, and I have no idea why Jude was so small. It will always be a mystery to me.

Katones - I will get some more pics of her done soon. She is just asleep all the time and when she isnt I am either feeding her, changing her, bathing her or trying to get other things done that I am supposed to do, like cook dinner. hehehe:lol: I will get out WII out of layby in the beginning of December. Have fun with yours. Have you put anymore pics up of Jack? Time really does fly, I still cant get over Olivia being 4weeks already.

Itsme - I hope you have a better night tonight hun with Maya. How was she today? Glad you had fun with the poop. :lol: The only time I had poop shoot out was when we were in hossy and I was changing Olivia, and I got some squirted on my face. So glad no open mouth. Thankfully it was only a drop. hehehe

Kylie - When I first saw the 6 zeros, I had to count it again just to be sure I wasnt imagining it. :D So then I thought I would buy it to try it on her and it fitted. hehehe. She is such a tiny bubba. If you have seen the baby born dolls, she is smaller than that in length and the doll is even bigger in width. The arms, legs and belly as well as bottom is bigger too. I had the baby born next to her one day and was amazed she was smaller than it. hehehe Logan is doing really well, thats a great weight gain too.

Kuraiza - It is soo cute. When I went to put it on her today, I thought that it looked smaller than when I bought it (thought it had shrunk in the wash) hehehe, but no, it fit her. I really couldnt believe that I found it, I didnt think they came that small. She has a few 5 zeros that are a bit big on her, certainly didnt think I would come across a 6zero thats for sure. How big was Jude born again? I am still amazed with how small Olivia was, and I keep getting stopped at the shops or where ever I go and get asked was she premmie. When I say no they are shocked. I cant believe how many people stop just to look at her. Thats really good Jude is putting on the 200gms a week, you must be so proud.... ;)

Hi all,

I got Julian weighted yesterday and he's now 3820g, he was last weighted on discharge on the 19th of Oct and he was 3310g so in just over 3 weeks he has put on 510g. His little head is only up 1cm at 34cm and he has grown 4cm since birth and is now 54cm. All is going well and I've noticed that he's starting to have more awake time which is nice as he's always smiling and yesterday he's started to make gooing noises, which is always cute.

Cheryl to answer your question from awhile ago about the comments on having 5, yep I do hate all the people that are saying to us "oh 5 boys, are you going to try for a girl now" or "how do you cope with so many". The worst is my mother, she just doesn't really make much of an effort anymore, she even forgot about Wyatt's birthday at the beginning of the month, how's that for a nana. Another thing the really ****es me off is people asking if DH is going to get the snip done now, like it's anyone's business but ours, arrgggghhhhh.

Amanda - I get so many people being gobsmacked when I tell them I have 5, then they go how do you handle that, you must be some sort of super mum. I believe they are actually thinking your just plain crazy. I have had some say, how they would have loved a large family and congratulate me, but mostly I end up with, so thats it yes!!!!! I shouls for fun say, nahhhh thinking of having some more!!!!! You would swear they were the ones raising the kids for us the way some of them react. So glad I am not the only one that feels that way. Sorry your mum didnt remember Wyatts b'day, I bet he felt that.

I have a MONSTER CHILD!!!!! he was fed at 4.30.. put into bed.. woke up not even 1/2hr later... picked him up resettled him... 1/2hr later.. wakes AGAIN!!! i have resettled him and now he is sleeping peacefully!!!! i was going crazy..trying to get dinner done before hubby gets home.

and ****...he did a poo middle of his feed and as i put him on the change table... he let a fart rip.. that i swear was louder than his dads!!! and went for about 1min....MALES.....

kuraiza - Yeah the unsettled period isn't fun.

csab - She is doing better today. Unsettled of course, but not as bad as yesterday! I do think the heat yesterday made her even more unsettled than normal! It's hot again today (currently 34 degrees) but we have a portable air con in our bedroom and both Maya and I are spending all afternoon in there!

When my DH went back to work after parental leave he came up with the idea of helping me in the mornings before going to work. So he was getting to work at 10am and coming home at 7pm or later. After a couple of days of that I told him he needs to go to work earlier and come home during the unsettled time!! So now he gets home around 5.30-6, which helps me more. :)

wish my hubby would be here in the afternoons!!!! but he does VERY looooongg shifts at work so i let him get as much rest as he can... although last night i think Jack did not want anyone in this house sleeping....

Hey girls.. I've been busy entertaining my nieces & sister so haven't had a chance to get on BB.... Great to see all your bubs are putting on weight. I didn't go to the clinic on Tuesday so I can't report anything though I know he's put on a heap, he's so heavy. My sister calls him the chubber. He's so chubby.

I can't help but brag..... Byron slept through the night last night... Yippee.. I hope he continues to do so. After a massive vomit at 9pm last night (from taking in wayyyy too much booby juice), he fell asleep at 9.15pm & woke at 4.50am. The funny thing is I kept waking up wondering if he was still breathing. I would wait to hear a grunt or grizzle from him before falling back to sleep lol. I can easily get use to it though.

He's been quite settled the past few days. He's not crying as much.

Speaking of the egyptian hour..... Byron is unsettled from around 5pm till he goes to bed. Luckily DH has been home this week (working day shift) so he keeps Byron entertained so I can cook.

Gotta go & change a pooey nappy... Mwah!

Georgi - Feel free to brag. :) How nice to get some extra sleep! Oh and thanks again for sharing your play routine. I've started incorporating some of the things you suggested and Maya loves it. :)

PP - That's a great weight gain. :) I hope Maya continues with her good gains!

katones - Yeah sometimes I feel bad cos my DH comes home and I shove a screaming baby at him. :lol: But then he works in an office and gets to sit all day, has coffee breaks and takes a long lunch break. And he doesn't have to care for someone else all day long. Plus I let him sleep at nights. So thinking about that makes me feel less guilty! ;)

Well yesterday Maya just wouldn't go to sleep till 11pm! But then she slept until 4am and after putting her back at 5am she slept till 8.30am. I was so exhausted at 11pm though! I was ready for bed at 9pm but couldn't go to bed till she was in bed. I read somewhere that babies get more and more unsettled until they peak around 6 weeks and then they start getting more settled. I've noticed that her unsettled time is increasing and getting worse. So hopefully it's going to peak soon and then start getting better!

LOL the Wii fit scales are WRONG!!!!! hubby got on and they said he was 96kgs...hmmm me thinks NOT!!!! also did the same for hubbys uncle... although maybe your are right???

well i sure did have a monster child yesturday...

bathed him at 8pm ready for his 8.30 feed... do you think he would sleep after being fed?? NOPE!!! he stayed awake til 10.30ish... but then slept til around 2.30am :D i was to tired so i lay in bed and fed him.. he finished one side and fell asleep..and so did i with the lamp on :) i woke at 4.30 and turned the lamp off...he then slept til around 6.30am so i lay in bed and fed him my rock booby that he didn't feed off at 2.30am.. and he went back to sleep til after 9.

Must be all the greedy boys putting on the weight! Zander has also put on 1.45kg since his birth - but he is long also 58.5 so doesn't look overly chubby, until he pulls his chin in and it triples :p

Itsme - Andre Rieu - woohoo - have a wonderful time - and try to enjoy your night out! I haven't noticed a huge change at 6 week mark - but maybe my life is just a bit too hectic to notice - but Zander hasn't seemed to have an unsettled period of more than an hour really so I am praying :pray: that continues - specially with my husband travelling - it would be really hard if he cried for a few hours and still trying to get the other two fed/bed/read/sleep etc.

Georgi - brag away, Byron has had a little head start on the outside world - I am hoping by Christmas Zander will be "sleeping through" - or just so I can get a 6 hour stretch of sleep - so that's about 8 hours between feeds :) But Zander seems to go into his night time sleep around 8pm too - which fits in well with the other kids, but would be nice if he would feed once more around 10pm :rolleyes:

Cheryl - I can't believe how teensy Olivia is - but it takes all kinds to make up the world so I am happy to hear she is putting on weight and doing well :clap:

Having said things are good - at our clinic appt yesterday I did tne PND questionnaire and came out the top of normal - but dunno how. I think the questions are tricky - especially the crying one - you have cried for no reason (or something like that) and one answer was yes occasionally, and the other was no, never. Well I have had a moment or two, but nothing big, just tired and exhausted - but couldn't tick no, never cried - Oh well, as long as I feel ok, we should be fine. I had a bit with Giselle just mild, more my putting expectations on myself to keep a clean house with a baby and 2 yo toddler and meals and general stuff - was cross I couldn't do it and was a bit sad :(

Need to resettle the munchkin ...

Just a quick note letting you know how the twins are going. Well we have our good days and our bad days. It's really hard when both are crying all day, any way my little Hana is a drama queen and Sam just goes with the flow.

Georgi: Blissful! Jude slept last night from 11pm until 5.20am, but I woke up at 4.30 wondering why I was still asleep and I just dozed until he woke up. I could have really done with that extra sleep, why did I wake up?

Itsme: I think our husbands like the "great baby handover" at the end of their work shift. I'm sure they miss their little families all day. Since Jude hates having a bath, my husband now showers with him and Jude loves it. He makes happy gurgling noises and then I take him and dry him and he plays with the towel. It's so much easier than running a bath and my husband said it's the closest bonding he can get with Jude.

Jude never sleeps until 11pm. My sister babysat yesterday so we could go out for mexican with friends, and she tried to settle him but I had to tell her he won't sleep until 11pm. Every night I wish I could go to bed earlier, but I can't.

PinkPalace: 1.26kgs in 5 weeks is plausible. Jude's gained 880gs in 5 weeks, but he's only a little guy.

Cathie: Having twins must be very difficult. I'm sure you're doing an amazing job. :hug:



Jude and I went to Seaworld yesterday with my sister, Brother-in-law and their 2 kids. My 3-year-old nephew was a nightmare. He actually hated the dolphins and had to leave the dolphin show and then he didn't want to do anything. Eventually he had some fun at Sesame Street Beach, but what a day! It was sooooo exhausting and poor Jude cried and cried because he was hungry and I couldn't feed him dead-on demand. I won't be attempting that again for a loooooong time.

we had a great night last night!!!! slept from 8.30 to 2.20am.. fed then slept til 6.30 :D

Us too Katones - fed 7pm, then 12.30 (heat I think - needed a drink as it wasn't a great feed), and then 5.30 and back to bed until 8.30!

Kuraiza - very weird but I tend to wake about 80% of the time about 10 minutes before Zander demands milk. It gives me time to go to the loo, check the other kids have their bedsheets on, and I end up just getting comfy again and - WAHhh - well he's not that loud or noisy really. I don't think I would cope that well if he didn't sleep until 11pm! By then I have tried to have 2 hours sleep - but as I said in an earlier post, means I technically get up an extra time, but I am kinda glad he goes into his night time sleep around 7 - 8pm to tie in with the other kids. Do you go to bed and get DH to sit up with him so you get some sleep in the first part of the night?

Sami: No, I can't sleep because Jude cries until he's choking unless he's firmly attached to my breast. This is currently an all day scenario. I did just get Jude settled after the nth feed of the day by singing the extended remix of "there were 10 in the bed" 5 times and walking around the apartment with him swaddled firmly in my arms. I can finally eat lunch (at 3.40pm) and have a well-earned milo. Phew!

My sister thinks he's being extra clingy today because I left him for 2 1/2 hours last night.

I'm here - just busy with my sis & fam visiting from interstate, plus obs, paed, physio & osteo appts!!! Two notable events for the week. Firstly - the other night X fed at 8.30pm (slow feed, put him down at 10pm)... then slept till 5.15am! WOO HOOO! Over 7 hours - I was thrilled.

Secondly, weight at the paed's - he's stacked it on alright! 5.4kg at 7 weeks. He's put on 2kg in 7 weeks!!!! :o :bluecheer:

Quickie from me - Zander fed at 6.30pm and went to sleep at 7.15pm - and then woke at 4am for his feed - and gee he sucked me dry :o ....

For those that are giving bottles - how much is your little one taking - whether it be EBM or formula ... just curious as I have no idea how much Zander gets with the b/f gig ...

If you're all going to show off about your sleeping babies, I am going to show off about my post-baby body. I now officially weigh less than my pre-pregnancy weight.

Sami: The calculation for mLs per feed is 150 x baby's weight divided by the number of feeds per day.

Jude had a worse night's sleep than usual and I am tir-ed. I don't know if it's because I actually settled him into a long sleep during the day or maybe it was too hot (it was freakin' steamy hot). I found my old rusty fan and I hope that'll make a difference. I'll have to buy a new child-proof fan one day.

I don't even know what my weight is pre-baby x 3 - I think it is on another set of scales .... my body has just changed shape so many times as long as I am happy as *me* this is a good place to start!

Yep I know what the calculation for what babies SHOULD be having - but what is everyone's babies ACTUALLY taking??? EG for my DD the formula tin said she should be having 4 x 200ml bottles at a certain age - and she only took 120ml per feed cos obviously that was all she wanted and needed. Zander just doesn't seem to take more than 70mls out of a bottle and I have tried a couple of different teats - trying NUK wide neck at the moment - I have Avent bottles so don't really want to have to restock on skinny bottles ......

ok on the bottles front - we're currently expressing and giving EBM... he will take anywhere between 100 to 200ml. The formula tin says for his age he should be taking 150ml 5-6 times a day. I think he is definitely taking more than that, probably averaging 150-180ml per feed - does that help? :lol:

Oh and on the post-baby body - another woo hoo. My weight was less than pre-PG immediately following birth (and has remained so) mainly due to not putting on much weight during PG with the GD (and being a bit chubby when I got PG anyways!)

Kuraiza - I put on 20 kgs and have lost 14 but once I get to my pre-James weight I need to lose another 8 kgs or so to feel good again I think! I just want to get rid of my C/S overhang though - that disturbs me more than the weight and I wonder if it will ever disappear... ah the joys of 2 c/s in 18 mths.

Itsme - Our unsettled time is definitely getting worse, it goes from about 430 til he goes down at 7-8 and then he is down for quite a long time but that time is right on dinner time so makes life interesting. He cluster feeds at that time so must be storing it all up for his big sleep! I just cuddle and feed and do what we have to, to get through but am looking forward to it settling down a bit.

James is going super well - Sami I'm with you! James goes down between 7-8 for 6 -7 hours and I know I should be happy but I wish he would feed at 10 and then go down! :rofl:! He is a contented happy man though so I really can't complain! Lots of awake time with heaps of smiles and even some chuckles which is just adorable! Trying to catch them on camera but it is tricky! We have our MCHN appointment tomorrow - looking forward to seeing how much weight our man has put on again. Last time it was 430grams in 9 days but I am now only feeding one side per feed to ease the spews so it will be interesting to see how we go!!

Ok off to soothe my grizzly guy - have a great day all and I will try to pop in more frequently. I wish these 2 threads could be combined like they used to be. Makes far more sense but ah well.
