Wow its been very quiet in here. I hope that everyone is ok and just busy being mums.

For the last week or so dd has been unsettled of an evening and is awake for hours. She usually wakes at about 4-5pm and can be awake right up until 10pm. She gets so overtired and just wants to feed. Last night she went to sleep about 7pm but woke when I put her down and was so upset untilI got her back to sleep at 10pm. Anyone elses baby doing the same thing? She is great during the day and can be put in bed awake and just go off to sleep on her own.

My ds1 used to get his sister out of the bassinet if she cried he was 26months and she was 5 weeks early and only 2.5kg lucky he is so strong he could actually carry her

well serenity still only wakes once at night but I've noticed at that feed and a few during the day she will get put down for 5 then want more so that goes on for 40min but then she's off again she still sleeps heaps but isn't due for another 13days still lol

Yep- we're similar Oz...for the last week or so, dd usually has one feed a day/night where she is near impossible to settle and ends up becoming hysterical (even while we're cuddling her). That usually exhausts her enough that she falls asleep. When she's like that she doesn't even want to feed, if I try to attach her she has a few sucks then thrashes about and spits me out. My guess was wind because she pulls her knees up. I've just started putting her across my knees, face down with one hand under her tummy and the other hand patting her back and this worked quite well last night.

Gosh, it has been SUPER quiet! Hope everyone is feeling good and your babies are being kind....

    Hi Girls!

Well I'm on my own with DD nw as Dh went back to work yesterday. She had a shocker yesterday as didn;t sleep much at all during the day - she just would not settle and kept waking after 30-40mins and I couldn't get her back to sleep- Im going to research sleep cycles because I heard sometimes they wake and you can go in 5 mins before this and move them through from light to deep sleep.
She is generally sleeping well at night now, normally a 4hr chunk and then 5-6 hours (from start of feed) though it varies night to night.

I am going to my first mother sgroup on friday so will be good to meet up with some other first time mums to see if they have the same probs as me.

Is anyone worried about feeding their babies when on the computer, Ive done it a few times but am paranoid she will get a brain tumour or something????

I woke up with a sore throat, is it likely that Ella will get it too since Im breastfeeding???

    gotta go shes screaming again

Ery I feed dd lots at the computer and to be honest the thought of tumors etc hadn't even crossed my mind. I think they say a sleep cycle is 40min I am sure I have heard that it is common for bubs to wake after the first sleep cycle, good luck getting her to sleep longer. Your BF should protect Ella from any nasties but just keep an extra eye on her.

V glad to hear I am not alone, though I dont think it is a wind issue here. I am going to work on getting her to sleep as soon I notice the tired signs. Otherwise I will just have to roll with it until she decides to change lol.

It HAS been quiet! I"ve not really been online much at all (or offline and on the computer - just haven't been near my computer!) in the last few days, at least.
No, I tell a lie - I was on the other day to post in one of the threads about elimination communication because I was chuffed with the efforts we've made lately! But apart from that, I've been reading (had a 2 week loan on a new library book - The White Queen by Philippa Gregory - great, easy read...but also borrow a quick guide to English kings and queens to keep up to speed; I recommend the Collins Gem Kings and Queens!), getting out and about (not really for fun, just getting things done) and trying to kick this cough/sore throat.
Ery - Ella probably won't get your sore throat, though she might - if she does it won't be too severe because you've been filling her with your antibodies
Tallarah is just a doll and we're all in love still! My midwife came today to see us and she's so happy with how we're going. T has put on stacks of weight (a kilo and a bit - she's well over 4kg now) and 6 cm's in length since birth and she's just being wonderful. I just wish I didn't have this lurgy!
While DS is at creche today I'm gonna have another drink (keeping fluids up now that DP isn't home to remind me) and put on a DVD, during which I'll probably fall asleep...laundry folding can wait, I feel like I've been hit by a train from this lurgy.
Hope everyone's sleep issues resolve soon enough - I know that with DS, he would sleep for less than 40min blocks in the bassinette until I got the HAB and then he'd sleep for hours.

Oz: Tara has been having wakeful periods at night as well. She generally has a good block of sleep from about 10pm to about 2.30am, then has her feed and won't go back to sleep afterwards unless I hold her and rock her to sleep or put her in bed with me. Although she is still generelly awake for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from the start of her feed. I'm trying to feed her up during the day to hopefully get longer sleep periods during the night but looking at the ages of our babies, maybe it is something to do with there growth etc at the moment.

Oh, Tara got weighed today and has put on 280grams in 7 days, that is a weight gain of 600grams in 2 1/2 weeks, so she now weighs 3.8kgs. It seems being a FF baby is agreeing with her, weight wise anyways...
