Oz: Tara has been having wakeful periods at night as well. She generally has a good block of sleep from about 10pm to about 2.30am, then has her feed and won't go back to sleep afterwards unless I hold her and rock her to sleep or put her in bed with me. Although she is still generelly awake for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from the start of her feed. I'm trying to feed her up during the day to hopefully get longer sleep periods during the night but looking at the ages of our babies, maybe it is something to do with there growth etc at the moment.

Oh, Tara got weighed today and has put on 280grams in 7 days, that is a weight gain of 600grams in 2 1/2 weeks, so she now weighs 3.8kgs. It seems being a FF baby is agreeing with her, weight wise anyways...

hiya ladies, been busy today with mums grp which went well, not as stressful as i thought it would be as the other two mum's helped out, although my back is killing me with picking up he kids and lugging garden furniture around LOL

dd2 is having the exact same problem Oz, she wakes up round 4pm wants to feed non stop but wont settle again. she also has the problem of projectile vomiting as well, which has been fun!! that normally happens later though round 6-7pm. but from 4pm she DOES not wont to go to sleep by herself. As soon as i put her down she is up within 5 minutes guaranteed. Although i did let her whinge abit today cause i had my hands full and she did fall sleep in the rocker staring up at the window (so that was a bonus).

dp is out atm looking at a car, but luckily he took dd1 cause im about to pull out my hair cause the house still needs a tidy from today and i need to clean the couch cushions AGAIN

I think with dd1 we pushed her in the pusher round the house until she fell asleep, but then when it came to 6 months i think we did the controlled crying, which im so thankful now as she sleeps like an angel (unless she is teething)

well dd2 is awake so id better go b4 the whole street hears her cry, as the windows r open cause its been another scorcher today.
sry for long post, and hope every1 has a good night, oh and May, grats on the weight gain

Maya- When you have bub in bed (she sleeps there all night, is that right?), how do you have her in there? I mean does she just lay on the mattress with covers on her or do you have your am under her or something? We have a few issues when it comes to blankets and was just curious how to avoid that. I hope your DS is getting better from being unwell and that you get better soon, it must make just everyday tasks harder feeling under the weather and trying to tend to a newborn. Great weight gains Tallarah!

MZY- I like your idea about moving the bassinet out of the room, little by little and I think that will be what we will do down the track....much further down the track ;-)

Oz- We are the opposite here, little miss finds it hard to settle during the day but goes off to sleep by herself at night. She sleeps in a different area of the house at night, dont know if this makes her realise its night time or not????

Heavenly- Its so strange to think your precious Serenity is still supposed to be a baby bump!

Ery- Funny you should say about the brain tumour thing, I dont use the computer with DD but I do use a mobile to text and I am paranoid about it, even when she was in my tummy I hated it if I put the phone near her!
Im sure you know this part but I just read that humans sleep in 40 minute cycles and we wake after that period, ensure all is right and good and if it is we go back to sleep without even being aware that we had woken. I know nothing about the other part however but it sounds very interesting!

V-love- Dont ya just love it when your dear little cherished bub spits out your boob....real confidence booster hey!!! DD doesnt just spit mine out she pulls faces about it too, makes me feel real glamorous :-)

Kelly D- Sounds to me like your wonderful little Tara is growing like a mushroom- great work!

We are off to the clinic next week so cant wait to see how much DD has grown- very exciting! Not that we need the figures the big fat chubby cheeks tell us the same story! She had immunisation yesterday which thankfully her daddy was able to attend, she was very good, a few tears but lots of snuggles fixed that pretty quick!

    Take care all x

    Morning all!

Wow it has being awhile since I have posted but have being reading when I have a chance.

Well poor DH has had to go back to work today and I am having my first day of Luke to myself. Scared out of my mind that he will scream the house down but we have had first day time feed and he has gone to sleep like an angel. He also did a 6 hour stint last night (from feed to wake) which means I am not as exhausted as usual so fingers crossed we have a good day.

Get you girls on the spitting out of the nipple. I also get given a face from him like I have just put the most disgusting thing in his mouth!

Have mothers group tomorrow and I am praying we are back above birth weight. It's only 167 grams he needs to put on but so far the biggest weight gain he has done is 130 grams so my confidence isn't high... he will be 4 weeks old on Thursday so they are really keen to see him back up there.

Hope your bubs are settling better at night and everyone is well. May be back online more now that DH isn't here to hog the computer!

    Hi everyone!

Have had a rough couple of days as the paediatrician upset me quite a lot on friday. He has given me a cortisone ointment for DD's face as the milk rash turned to eczma, have got a referral for another ultrasound in 4 weeks to check her hips again at the children's hospital as she has grade 2 hip dysplasia and also told me to stop breastfeeding and put her on a special hypoallergenic formula called neocate LCP for a week as he thinks she has a milk protein allergy (not lactose intolernt as he thought before!). Anyways, I only did it for 24 hours as was a complete mess trying to express and feed her the bottle and settle her all at the same time. It just felt soooo wrong to me and I was extremely worried about breast refusal and milk drying up. I had good reason too. After having a complete breakdown and calling my sister to come over I put her back on the boob and surprise surprose she has been a nightmare to get back on, not attaching and crying etc as well I can tell there is not a lot of milk there even with me expressing. Anyway I have decided that I know my daughter best and for now, breastfeeding is what is best for her. I am putting myself on a complete dairy and soy free diet and when I see the paed next will just tell him, I couldn't do it. He was wrong about the lactose intolerance so why not about the milk protein stuff. I just wish doctors would listen to mothers, I told him I didnt feel good about it and he just ignored my fears. Only at the last feed did she feed much better, though to build my supply up Im back to 2-3 hourly feeds and the same through the night.

sorry just had to have a rant!

Gosh, that's a lot to deal with, erin!!!

Sounds to me like you're doing the right thing, though- good for you for knowing what felt 'wrong' and trusting yourself

    Hi to everyone else

Is everyone ok? I hope your all just super busy enjoying your bubs.

All is well here, I think dd is having a growth spurt she is feeding every couple of hours and taking both sides (it has been hot here too). Still a little fussy in the afternoons but great overnight usually only waking once. She is such a happy smiley baby and I think we might have a chatterbox on our hands lol.

Welcome to the world for the 2nd time Serenity! Hope she went ok with her needles, broke my heart, Mime let out such a wail but was over it and ready for a snuggle within a couple of minutes! Good luck with the gym and well done!

Hey Oz, great news about getting sleep, being refreshed makes it that bit more easy. The heat effected us here too, very hard to settle to sleep but when DD had finally drifted off she was right.

KellyD- Im going to look into those wonder week books, I was told at hospy that growth spurts at 3 and 6 weeks but that was pretty much the extent of the knowledge they shared. I remember DD just wanted to be held a lot too, I guess it was one of those wonder weeks! Its good to know there may actually be a reason for it and that they dont just feel crappy or something.

Maya- I was very proud last week DD became official! It was a real goosebumpy moment when I saw that birth certificate and her name printed on medicare card! Sounds ridiculous to be so excited about something so little but hey......it was just great!

Hi cam, mzy, Dedicated_Mummy, V-Love, Skybie, erybery hope everything is good.
Oh and Cam great news about Lukes weight!!!!

hey girls, long time no chat!
been so busy with dd, she doesnt like to sleep much and is getting to be a fussy eater, have also had problems with reflux and apparently the hours of night screaming is just colic, dr went right over her and said it is inexplicable therefore is probably colic, nice general answer hey, but we will get there, just give lots of cuddles and go through the list and back to the start of the list and do it all again...

LD it is so wonderous when the certificate turns up hey, u see it and it has ur name as mother and your just like oh wow! glad to hear dd has been a good girl for you.

maya havent got them forms filled out either, im so slack!

Maya sounds like things are improving for you. Hopefully the mastitis stays away.

Heavenly perhaps she wants a feed when she sucks on your finger? DD is a bit of a chucker too, sometimes I am sure I wear most of a feed. She is happy though so I am not worried.

Cam 150grams a week is great weight gain, sounds like your doing everything right. They dont need to have both breasts. My DD will some feeds have both, sometimes one and sometimes one and bit lol.

How is everyone else going? We got our first giggle last night. She does those big open mouth smiles with lots of gurgling. She is a real chubber now too. She is starting to develop a routine now which is nice, I am sure it will change though so each day we just go with the flow. I cant wait for Christmas.
