Kristie, Wishing you belatedly a very happy birthday. Hope you were spoilt by the boys!
Cindy and Nikki, Congratulations on your children being accepted by Bettina. That's wonderful news. My cousin has two daughters (now 9 and 11) who have been modelling and acting successfully for quite a few years. They save most of their earnings and now have more stashed away than people four times their age! They are both now at performing arts schools and are planning careers in the acting industry. And to think it all started when they were pretty little babies. he ha!
Sorry to hear so many babies are sick with colds at the moment. Let's hope that this is their main big cold of the season and that their little immune systems are being made extra strong as part of the process of being sick. Hope you guys get some really restful sleep soon. Must be hard going!
Tracey, You are doing so well continuing to express. It must be tough with such a hungry bub trying to keep up with it all. Just a thought...have you tried any of the milk boosting things I posted about a while ago? I'm currently taking Motillium - as Gussy's extreme screaming week caused my supply to plummet. I started on the Motillium yesterday and already my expressed volumes have almost doubled!
Went to see Gussy's allergy immunologist on Monday. Due to his allergies we can only feed him rice cereal and pear as solids at this stage (in conjunction with breast milk). All the extreme crying over the past couple of weeks has been an allergic reaction. I'm still on the diet to make my milk free from allergens (ie I can't eat dairy, eggs, wheat, seafood, nuts or soy), so the problem has been the solids I've been offering him. Now that Gussy's 7 months (corrected age) he's apparently not receiving enough nutrients from such a limited diet so we have to introduce one bottle of formula a day. However, because of Gussy's allergies we can't use any of the regular formulas and have to give him one called Neocate. We can only get it on via an authority prescription. It's an elemental formula made from amino acids and is not derived from the milk of cows, goats or soy so shouldn't trigger any allergies. Hopefully this might help him to pack on some weight! We start hydrotherapy next week in a group of "failure to thrive babies" - terrible phrase isn't it. It's designed to help strengthen their muscles. Apparently there's an ex-premmie there who's two and only 7kg. Gosh I hope that won't be our fate!
