emma ... i kwym by having a good sleep routine .. teeting stuffs it up !!
we recently came back from sleep school ... now is all come undone .. he has his dummy back and wakes several times a night ..
Hey Emma! Wit the runny nose, Charlie has one too and he's teething at the moment so it could be that. He's not sick, just a constant runny nose. So i would say it is to do with the teething.
Hi all just thought I would pop in and say hello, sounds like everyone is going along well.
Jack is now cruzin the funiture and stands with one hand so not long and he will be off and walking he is so funny when he is crawling if I ask him where he is going he seeds up trying to take off, he now has two teeth and more on the way.
Jessica has been a little slower in getting going she has just learnt to komando crawl in the last month or so she has been having phisio for the last three to four months as she wouldn't use her hands because her sholders seemed to be pulled back we think because she was born breech that something happend at the birth, Jessica goes for a scan on her head next friday her head is growing at a faster rate than the rest of her body its not that noticeable only to us or when she sits realy close to Jack so hears hoping she just has a big head and there is nothing wrong, she also has two teeth that she likes to show off constantly.
Jean
gawd ... dont you think the doctors would get it right the 1st time !!!
we have been half co sleeping due to teething .. and he now has his dummy back
he is inconsolable at the early hours and dh and i couldnt bee stuffed shusuhing him back to sleep ..
but this morning he woke about 4 am . we put him into bed with us and he did not go back to sleep .. just sat up and pulled at my hair and poking me in the eyes
dh got up at 5 and i told him to give him a big bottle and back to his own bed !! then he slept till 8.30
he also loves cutting out his arvo nap ... but i dont ... he gets cranky ....
Hi Emma – nice to meet you, I am fairly new around here. Lovely to hear about your man, you sound so happy. Poor Gabby with her nappy rash, I hope it gets better very, very soon for her (and you). Gabby and Angus share their birthday (and we share the anniversary of when we became Mummies)!
Lea – I am very sorry to hear about having to take Nixon to hospital and about his sleeping (or lack of). I know how you feel (more on that later).
Jean – I hope all goes well with Jessica’s scan.
Angus has three teeth, a bottom one and two top ones, I think the other bottom one is coming through now. They have all come in the last 3 weeks. He often only has one day sleep and then every few days he’ll need to catch-up and he’ll have two. His absolute favourite thing in the world at the moment is the microwave.
I know this is a gentle parenting website but we are about to do the dreaded controlled crying here. Angus wakes every two hours, sometimes hourly and we are wrecked. We have tried everything, sharing a room, sharing a bed, breastfeeding back to sleep and nothing is working for us as a family so we are going to give CC a try. I am following the instructions exactly as written by Robin Barker in her book Baby Love. I think it is really important not to give babies mixed messages, either you respond to them quickly or you don’t and then they learn to go back to sleep by themselves. If it takes more than 4 nights I’ll give up and reassess.
I think leaving a baby to cry is just so wrong but I feel like I don’t have a choice, the situation at the moment is intolerable and can’t go on. And I truly believe that in a happy, loving, well balanced home this is just what has to happen so that we can all function again.
Tonight’s the night, I’ll let you know how we all go.
Welcome back Emma, sounds like Gaby is doing wonderfully! So happy to hear about the lovely new man too!
Not feeling so great here..after saying Kirsten didn't get the gastro last time, she got a different gastro bug and then gave it to us after throwing up on us for 3 days..now she is fine and I feel horrible!! She also has a runny nose and cough and won't eat solids, who knows if its a cold or teething!!!
Glad all the babies are coming on so well!
Kirsten is still going at her own slow pace,..she stood straight up on my lap for the first time the other day, which is great. Not crawling yet, she just cant get her chest up and lean on her hands, but she can practically stand with her back end, so she just pitches forward. She can now sit up all day and catches herself properly with her hands when she falls sideways too, which is an improvement. Hopefully she will get there soon!
Rachel - I totally understand why you feel you have to do anything to stop the lack of sleep. I don't function at all on no sleep. Hopefully it will resolve quickly for you!
Jean - good luck with Jessica's scan!
Lea - Glad Nixon wasn't too badly hurt!!
Will post more when I feel less yuk!

Well he’s asleep. The crying went for 30 minutes which I think is good, apparently 2 hours is not uncommon for the first night. Hopefully it will only be 5 minutes tomorrow and 0 minutes the day after that.
Kirsten – I’m sorry you’re feeling so yuck. So good to hear about Kirsten’s movement progress but tell us more about her words. I’m sure you told us that she can say a few things. Angus doesn’t have any words or noises that mean things yet (he babbles all the time though).
Rachel : dont worry too much abuout the crying ... nix was about 10mths old and still taking a bottle at 2 am .. we decided to go cold turkey as cutting back didnt help ..
he cried for about 2 hrs the 1st night and about 30 mins the next night ...
its hard for the 1st few nights but soon you will have him sleeping ..
if you comfort him and let him know you are near its OK ...
the 1st few night while nix was screaming i held him in my arms in the rocking chair or couch till he fell asleep ...
it was better than bending over the bloody cot and straining my back ...
this way i could hold him while he cried , but didnt give in to giving him a bottle ..
currently i am waiting on the house call doctor , to see weather nixon has pox !! dh swears they are and i have no clue .. they are pussy cruncy spots all over his head ( bout 15 ) on one on his bum and 2 on his back ,
he was quite sick last week . vom and dia with no appetite .... so i dont know what it is
i get disheartend when nixon is un well makes me think im a **** mum , and am grotty and dirty ..
nixon is the only baby out of my mums group who constantly has something wrong with him ..
oh and nix doesnt have many words either .... dad dad comes out alot .. its probably all hes got .. but he does this adorable pointing at everything ... aww its just so cute .... and if you ask him something the answer is always "NO" by shaking his head
Rachel - that's great, I hope it gets less and less for you every night! Kirsten's latest word is "teddy"..well "teh - deh" ..she says it to the wooden teddy bear we have on our fireplace!! She also calls me "mummy", says "dadda" and "yes", (she says "yes" to any question you ask her, or if you call her name!!) "no" (luckily not too often) and says "mil mil" for milk! Her favourite word is "hello" though, she says it to anyone she sees when we are out, and waves to them!
Lea- Sorry Nixon is sick again. It does sound like he might have chickenpox, I know they can be unwell for a few days before the rash comes out. If it is, I suppose its good for him to get that over with early, as I think it gets worse as they get older! I'm sure it doesn't at all mean you are grotty and dirty if he is sick, I think things just come one after another sometimes, they don't get time to recover before another bug takes hold while they are low. Kirsten has just had a cold and tummy bug at same time!
We just took her to doctor but it was a bit embarrassing as she was talking away and leaping around in the surgery, so she is obviously fine. I was just a bit worried as she hasnt been able to keep solids down for about 5 days but the doctor said she will be fine with just milk and she is obviously on the mend!! Glad we got the reassurance I suppose!!

Hi all. Welcome back Emma, great to hear from you, I've been wondering how you are going. Sorry to hear about all the sick babies and mummies! I have to keep this short as I am working today!
Tom will be one on Tuesday. I can't believe it's been a year already. Still not quite walking, taking steps here and there but prefers to be holding on to something or crawling. He has a few words - mummy, daddy, nanny, ta, bwudda (brother), pop (from pop goes the weasel), cat and a few others. He is starting to transition down to one day sleep (and Jack is working very hard on dropping day time sleeps altogether - ggggrrrrr).
Hopefully I'll be able to catch up properly soon. Take care all.
just thought i would pop in with a Cooper update while i was thinking of it
He is now around 10kgs, has 4 teeth, he is nearly walking, he walks holding your hand but not that steady as yet, he walks along the walls with no trouble though, he says mum, bub, ta, car he is now copying what we say too, Mason was yelling whats that to everything on the tv screen, so cooper went and stood in front of tv yelling whats that lol, but he doesnt do it by himself, its funny though, he said what is it to a game we were playing earlier
He refuses to say Dad though lol, i have heard him say it here and there but when DH says say Daddy he just laughs at him lol, love his style
Asked him if he wanted vegetables the other day and he shook his head no lol
Everyone has gone through the sickness this winter so that was horrible, slowly the weather is coming to be nice more often than bad so we are getting out more
Cant believe its nearly the first birthdays already!!
hope that everyone is going well and i will pop in again sometime soon
Emma: Glad to read that you have found someone who you are happy with
Cooper is a great baby, i said to my niece who is having one soon that i hoped she got one like him, he is easy going and just happy, the sort of babies everyone should have lol
I will have to set up another site to link too they always expire on me because you have to log in every now and then but i never do
Thanks Belinda! He woke at 5:20 this morning so he must have known it was a special day!! He has opened his presents and gone back to sleep already! Which is good actually as we have people coming over for morning tea and I want him to be awake for that.
Glad to hear Cooper is so good. BBL, got to go and get ready for morning tea
well nixon had foot and mouth , its slowly going away now which is good as we have busy months ahead and i want him to be healthy for it , and not infect other kiddies !!!!
he still has no words at all , mum and dad were here for a while but he must of got bored with them , its just babble , and i love hearing it , so so cute
but i cant believe our babies are nearly toodlers !! nixon is no where near walking , which is ok coz i adore seeing him crawl , and when he see something he want , picks up speed , they can be really fast , its like a game of road runner sometimes !!
Epacris ::: how is the sleeping going ? has it setteld down ??
what has every one planned for the 1st birthdays ??
nixon is having a party on sunday 21st oct , nothing spesh just a small celebration and ovbiously for him , a collection of gifts !!!!
and me ??? well im poping some champers to celebrate my 1st year as a gawd dam wonderful mum !!!
Thanks girls. Tom (and Jack and Mummy) had a great day. A couple of friends came over for morning tea and stayed for lunch. Then I cleaned up after 5 kids while the boys slept. Then the ILs came over for cake and more pressies. They were supposed to stay for dinner but decided not - after I'd cooked enough bolognaise for an army!
Tom was very spoilt, not that he didn't have enough things already. He got a toy bulldozer, some books, a gorgeous wooden animal puzzle, a learning puppy (MIL), a tonne of clothes including a jumper (In Brissy in Sept WT?? - MIL again of course), money for his bank account and DH and I printed some photos for one of those composite photo frames for the wall. We've had one for Jack for ages, so now Tom has his own to hang next to Jack's.
Now I am one exhausted Mummy. Quick BB catch up and bed for me. Hope everyone else is well, I'll update properly next time!
