OMG, just realised I missed a whole page of posts!!
Emma, I did the express / EBM thing for 2 days then used nipple shields until Jack was able to attach without them (about 3 weeks). I found the expressing thing very time consuming - having to wash and sterilise as well as the time to express and the time to feed, it seemed to just be endless. But I'm glad I did it as then I was able to bf for a long time once it was working. Have you tried nipple shields? They are a bit of a pain too, but IMO better than expressing if they work. A friend of mine expressed exclusively for a couple of weeks then her daughter was able to attach once she was that small amount bigger. Perhaps a lactation consultant could help? In any case attachment will get easier as Gaby grows.
