Been a while since I posted ladies so hello again.... seems like there have been a few sick bubs and mums lately which is no good - hope everyone gets well again soon.
ggrr, just got a telemarketing call....i used Hayley as an excuse and hung up on her... I don't need half price shutters, i need sleep!
Have my 6 week checkup tomorrow - not looking forward to it :(
POO you Viv! Oh well - if something happens and you decide to come, you know where we'll be!
Garr! Im sick of this cold already! My poor babies. It doesnt really seem to be affecting them at all, they just have constant runny noses at the mo.
Took them to see Santa today. As soon as we got within 2 metres, Liam started bawling (if he is further than that away, he is quite happy to watch and wave and blow kisses etc.). So I had to sit in on the photo with them. He was ok. Chels is looking stragight at the camera, and so is Liam, but neither of them are smiling. LOL. Liam was to upset. Good photo though.
Had Chelsea's baby clinic appointment today too. She weighs 5.15kg, and is 59cm. She has had a huge growth spurt in the last week I reckon. Still in 0000 though and newborn nappies.
So who of us are coming Friday now?
hey y'all with bubs in newborn huggies...
i still have a bunch that need a home. anyone want them? i'll bang them in the post for you.
Hey! I was giving away free nappies first:P LOL
well Viv funny you should ask. Yes it is quiet difficult at times to take EBM out if i need to feed Tyron.
certain places these days will not give you boiling water to sit your bottle in because if i spill it and burn myself / bub i coul sue them. But you are not suppose to microwave ebm because it takes all of the good nutrients out of them. I come a cropper one day in westfields i went to the parents room, tried to heat it up by sitting in the bowl with boiling water. However the tap is set on a certain temp and no where near hot enough to warm it up.
Luckily this happened the time where he was still on again off again and i went and sat down and actually breast fed him.
But now i tend to take a back up. I have the bottle of ebm (kept cold in a cooler bag) and a bottle of cooled boiled water and some formula, so if its impossible to heat ebm up i can give him formula.
He is basically having 1 formula bottle in a 24hr cycle because of this.
So its still not easy lol!
and its not like i can heat up the ebm before i go because if he doesnt want it then it goes cool again you cant re heat it....
Im pretty much doing all that you guys suggested, Poor tyron sounds so aweful, when he cries its like he has almost lost his voice. His temp is still fine and the snot has turned green. Considering all this he is still o in himself. Still drinking, lots of wet & dirty nappies.
He cant seem to keep sucking the dummy though cause he coughs in his sleep and he snorts because he is clogged.
Doc wouldnt do immunisations while Ty is sick so theres another bloody visit to the doctors again next week....
alz-tell me if you find the "off" switch to childen lol i'd like to have that ability also!
i just manged to get some awesome chrissy pics of the boys which i am going to use for christmas cards, i'll let you know when i upload them.
Sorry girls. Can't find the off switch.
I just got a call from the doc. Ethan has a urinary tract infection! He has shown no signs of being sick except for a slight temp yesterday but it was a really hot day. Maybe this is why he is not sleeping well. The doc has scared me slightly because she rang the paed (who couldn't see me for Ethan's first appointment until the 25th Jan) and they have pushed him in for tomorrow. I know I shouldn't worry because he is still fairly happy but I stress at the slightest of things. How could he have caught the infection? Anybody got any ideas?
alz- if you find the off switch let me know! Housemates work aswell have a friend staying with us atm who is becoming ryans 2nd mummy hehe
trish-i know how u feel went to post and had taken me so long to type id been logged out and had 4 ppl post lol
Katie-I know how you feel! We also had a bleephead doorknocker for JackGreen who tried to sign me over without asking for the sale and when I said I wanted to read abt it first said that I could read abt it during the cooling of period and wouldnt let me go with Ryan screaming in the background and came back another 4 times!! I trialled to work 4 them so I know their tricks was so annoyed!
Immunisations tomorrow for ryan bet he's going to love it :-S
Good luck everyone who is having their needles:(, and check ups!
My Nan is fine thank god! Thanks for your thoughts everyone!
Had the man weighed today, was really hoping he would crack the 6kgs but was out by 100g or so!
So friday is the day girls who do we have...Me, Kate, Becky, Amelia?, Star( so sorry have forgotten your name already ooops please forgive me:doh:)
11:30 outside BigW!
Have to go organise dinner, yummy veges mmmm!
x
I was coming to the Bris Meet Up but I will have to see how Rhys' cold goes.
The day started so promising. L had a feed at 11.45pm, settled straight away, slept until 4.45am, mind you took over an hour to feed and settle him, but we both then slept until 7.30am. I was so excited as looked like it would be a good day. DH returned to work today after 7 weeks at home with us.
The day then went to carp. He hasn't had more than 30 minutes continuous sleep all day. I have tried everything: feeding, swaddling and reswaddling, burping, play time, letting him scream it out - with and without me in the room, putting blankets on him and taking them off. He spits his dummy out and I put them back in. He is quiet now, but that is only temporary. Anyway, DH will be home soon so we will bathe him, I'll feed him and then put him down. Hopefully that will do the trick. As far as I'm concerned DH can look after him for a while tonight - I've had enough. No can't find that off switch either.
Star - sorry to hear Mateo is so unsettled. Hope the paed can provide you with some answers.
Celtic - I like the photo of Ryan, very cute.
Brissy girls - I'm coming on Friday.
Hugs to those of you with sick bubs. Its hard enough when they are perfectly well, let alone when they are snuffly.
Will post this now before anyone else posts, the internet dies or I am called away to mummy duties.
Hi to everyone else I haven't said hi to.
Saffi - sorry to hear that you are having a tough time with your little man. A couple of weeks ago I was having that problem too. It didn't matter what I did Ethan would still cry. Hang in there. It does pass. I our case it was the formula that we were giving him. Once I put him on soy he became a different baby. It is a good idea to let dad have some time with him. I found that as soon as hubby got home from work I would hand Ethan over and take a break. It did help with my sanity. Remember you need to look after yourself!!!
Hope you have a good night and a better day tomorrow!
A blissful day!!!! Feed, sleep, play, lots of smiles... no crying! :-)
Yes, I am still coming Friday... Hee hee Amber - that's fine (it's Terri!) - I kept calling poor Nerida Saffi last time (felt so bad) so completely understand!!
Nerida - That'll be bloody right, first day at home alone and little man plays up! It's quite exhausting when you've got no-one to give him to for a break isn't it? Put your feet up tonight and let DH take over!
Viv - I definitely won't say no to some nappies if you can't think of any other use for them? I will be at the coast next week (my parents live at Burleigh) until after Xmas so can pick them up from you or you can post them - whatever you would prefer and is easiest for you.
Nickers - I always wondered why you couldn't microwave breast milk! What a pain when you go out!!
We tried to give Mateo EBM from a bottle yesterday and he just gulped and carried on like a pork chop and then screamed with a belly ache after only drinking about 20ml!! We used the Avent newborn teat - anyone got any ideas what's going on there? It would be nice to have one feed's break!
xoxox
Ange have you been to the Christmas Lights in Frankston?
Is it worth going to see?
Star only thing i can think of is he didn't like the teat.
Maddi's not a fan of the advent one's & would only drink a little bit beofre refusing to drink again.
melb girls - the botanical gardens would be nice, but would it be hard to arrange a meeting point there? Haven't been there for quite a while so can't really remember?
The other option I thought of was the Docklands? lots of cafes there
I'm soooo tired...had a busy day doing the shopping, cleaning, washing, etc...then Kieran was unsettled while I was trying to cook dinner...then Joel kept coming inside in tears after falling over or something and I had to apply bandaids and cuddles each time...DH didn't get home until 7:30pm and now has to wash his car before he swaps it for a new one tomorrow (company fleet) so he is no help to me at all!!!!
Sorry, just had to get that out!
Poor Kieran has pimples all over his face, neck and scalp. I wasn't worried at first, but now the skin on his cheek has gone really red like a rash. I'm taking him to the paediatric chiropractor tomorrow so I will ask if he knows what it is. If not I will take him to a GP.
Kellie - The botanical gardens have a cafe kind of in the centre which we could make as a meeting place. Otherwise it would be near impossible to find anyone!
Star - Glad you had a better day today.
Saffi - You poor thing, it is so frustrating when you don't know why they are crying and you've tried every trick in the book. Kieran did that to me when I was trying to start dinner tonight, it didn't matter what I did, he would just cry. I ended up just plonking him in his swing because I had run out of ideas! Luckily for me it worked, otherwise we would have all gone hungry tonight!!
Boomba - Glad to hear your nan is fine, what a scare for you all.
Celtic - Good luck with the immunisations tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to doing it.
alz - Sorry to hear Ethan has a UTI, the poor little thing. It can cause babies so much pain and discomfort. It's great that it was picked up so that it can be treated. A friend's bub didn't get diagnosed for 6 months and she had 6 months of hell. Once she was treated she turned into a very happy baby.
Kate - Good luck with your 6 week check up. I really should book in for mine!
Trish - sounds good. Have we decided on a date?
Any date & time suits me :D
Hi everyone,
Nice to see you today Kate and Ursula! I must remember to bring some distractions to keep Emily occupied so that I can have a conversation with another adult that lasts longer than a minute!
Sterilising: If I sterilse using miltons can I leave the teats etc out to dry afterwards? If I sterilise using the boiling method, can I boil the teats? (that's a no probably, right?) Harry either doesn't like the teat material or the taste of miltons. I'm using Avent bottles - which teat should he be on? 1, 3 or variable!
Viv - Harry is up chucking a lot these past few days. I've had two 5am projectile vomits where he's emptied seemingly the entire feed, and then happily gone back to sleep. The breastmilk must just hit his tummy with a load of gulped air and then he burps it all back up!
Does anyone other breastfeeder feel the let down? Mine stings in my axilla and around the outside of the nipple. It can be pretty painful sometimes.
Claire I was feeling the let down really badly for a while then it dissapeared, it comes back occasionally, like when I think about feeding him etc!
i still get a let down and its is ouchy sometimes, it goes really hard and full all of a sudden.
i meant to also add last time i laughed at the burping when burping baby i do that!!
its so weird hey? whenever i used to burp Nixon also i remember the same thing happening!
Claire- got your cool solutions so remind me to bring it next Monday!
poor Tyron i think he sounds worse. he hashardly any cry left, he was fed at 6.30pm, decided im not going to try and wake him for a feed and hopefully good stint after i'll let the little fella just sleep till he needs to wake.
DH is getting his wisdom teeth out tomorrow at day surgery so gotta be up early to drop him off
night all
Claire - I get letdown, not painful though just tingly.
Sorry I can't do personals I am swamped with al those posts!
A slept from 8.30pm to 3am yesterday and then it was party time GRRRRRRRRRR!!! I am soooooo tired. Oh and she also spewed at abotu 3.30am.
QUESTION - does anyone elses bubba suck furiously on their fist? She is an animal! And its not hunger 'cos she goes back to it straight after a feed. This results in masses of air etc getting sucked in an then either spews or is screaming a few hours later from wind. I have tried to replace fist with dummy and she will not have it!
My sore throat is pi$$ing me off :(
Hope everyone is OK and all sickies are recovering.
Night,
Just a quick hello!
Hope all the sick bubs and mums feel better soon!!
I had a horrid cold all last week, so glad I am pretty much over it now, yay :)!
Hope all those mummies meeting up have fun!
Anyways need to get some sleep.
Morning mummies!
Had a great night last night, Kieran had his last feed at 9pm and woke at 5am for his next one! That's two nights in a row at those exact times, it works well so hears hoping he sticks to it! I'm taking him back to the chiro this morning, hopefully we'll have him all sorted out soon.
Claire - My letdown is really ouchy when I am really full, I thought it was just meant to tingle!
Nic - LOL at you burping too! I really thought I was the only one, it makes me feel better that there are others! Your poor DH getting his wisdom teeth out, I hope it all goes well.
Ooooo so many posts, so little time.
Spew- Viv Lu does that same creamy little spew. She also does a watery type spew when she wakes up sometimes...... doesn't seem to bother her.
Burp- Trish- I do that too! ROFL..... Kieran is doing some champion sleeps. We are dealing with the 45min wakeup during the day at the moment.
Letdown- Claire, burns still, just around the areola and boob, not auxilla. Infact thinking about it, it has just happened. lol
Saffi- i grew up on the mornington peninsula, in balnarring. Now living in Frankston. Have your folks always lived in mornington? i love the market too, how good is it? You coming down for chrissy?
Leah- Lu sucks her fist when she is hungry and when she is tired. i'm hoping she'll grow out of it and not suck her thumb.......
Lu is down to one poo a day now, :confetti: but it's generally a cracker!
Put a santa hat on her yesterday and took some picks, how much fun is it having this new toy?! ;)
Think i'll tackle a christmas pudding today, anyone ever made one? Got a good recipe?
Morning all
After the day from hell yesterday L slept from 6.30pm to 10.15. DH fed him and put him back to sleep and then I was up at 3.15 and then again at 6.15. He has just gone down so am hopeful that today will be better. Feel sorry for DH tho he barely had anytime with L when he got home, so I am trying to give him every chance while he is home, but things are such a rush in the morning that there isn't a lot of time. DH loves his sleep.
Sent DH out to get some Infacol just in case wind is L's problem. But I don't think it is. He doesn't seem to have the massive pain that everyone seems to describe.
Let down - yes, I feel it around the areola and on both sides at the same time. It is a little painful and happens within a minute of L first attaching. I was also told it was a tingly sensation and was expecting to feel it more all over than in just one area.
Q for the day - dropping overnight feed. Is this something that the baby does (ie. baby sleeps past a normal feed time and thus sleeps thru), or is it something that I need to do (ie. instead of doing the 3am feed I resettle back to sleep without feeding)?
Anyway, now that L is down I better get some stuff done in case it doesn't last.
Have a good day mummies and bubbies.
S
Claire - re the teats - my little one is still on number 1 Avent teats. anything higher and she gets too much too quickly. i think it all depends on bub but my only suggestion is to start on the 1's and if he struggles with it - go up one.
well we changed caitlyn's formula over the weekend to see if that would help her sleep a bit more and make it easier to settle her in the evening. the only thing that has changed is the colour of her poo!!! its gine from a mustardy yellow to khaki!! mum says that it indicates wind - has anyone else heard of this? other than that - her clingy-ness has returned in full force!! but we are down to 2 feeds at night. i wonder if i am letting her sleep too much during the day so that she doesnt sleep well at night.
sorry for all the typos - she wont stay out of my arms!!
Ange
Mum's husband has lived on the Penninsula for many years but she has only been down there for about 8 years. I love the seaside feel of the place and that it is close to Melbourne when you need it, but far enough away to be a town not a suburb in the City.
Still it is a long way from Brisbane and don't see them as much as I would like.
Not going down for Chrissy this year, but parents are coming up to visit us.
Ange cute pic of lu! I will have to put one up of myles with his santa hat on!
Saffi, I think we will let myles decide when he wants to drop the feed, I am a bit different when it comes to routine etc lol!
Myles has been a bit of a pork chop at night lately! But its really hot and muggy so dont know if that has anything to do with it!
He is a calling me have to run have a good day ladies xoxox
Ange - hee hee, another burper! My DH's uncle has his own real estate agency in Mt Eliza and sells a lot of Frankston properties, have you heard of TJ Sparks? He used to own a gorgeous house in Cliff Rd that overlooked the bay. He regrets to this day that he sold it! BTW - GORGEOUS santa photo of Lu!!
Saffi - I just stopped setting my alarm and let Kieran sleep as long as he wanted o'night. He has woken up a couple of times at 2am, but his cry isn't serious (not a hunger cry) so I just pop his dummy back in, re-wrap him if he needs it and he falls back to sleep.
Rebecca - I've been told green poos can mean wind too. When Kieran was really windy he definitely had green poo.
BF'ing mums - Do you find you drip really badly after a shower? I have a shower every morning and especially if it is just before a feed I find that I drip EVERYWHERE and rush to get my bra on while leaning over the bath! Is there any secret for doing it without a big mop-up needed (apart from having a shower after a feed which isn't always an option for me)?
Claire- i THINK the Milton's stuff you can just leave on the stuff, but i think i only ever used the stuff with nixon once or twice cause i had samples. Have u got something with the packaging that says what to do?
I wash up my bottles and teats make sure all the suds are off etc and then sterilize it all (teats included)
Tyron is on a number 2 but i am still putting some thickener in with his ebm so needs to have a faster teat, number 1 should be fine but if he got frustrated with it i think he'd be right now at 2months to use the number 2 also.
Morning all.
What a shocker of a night. Ethan woke up every hour. I think the UTI is really starting to bother him. He is so sad and screams when we take his nappy off. Seeing the paed today. Hopefully we can get this sorted quickly. I did a bit of reading yesterday and found that UTI's which go untreated can lead to kidney damage and failure! That is scary. I have expereinced kidney failure at that was frightening enough. I don't want to watch my little man go through it. Hopefully some antibiotics will do the trick.
Saffi - we have been encouraging Ethan to go a little longer without his middle of the night feed. When he wakes up we re-settle him without a feed. If he goes back to sleep he obviously isn't starving. When he wont settle we feed him. He went almost 6 hours the other night but last night needed a feed at four hours. I'm sure there are other ways of doing this but this is what we are trying. I can't wait till he sleeps through. A friend has a 4 month old and he can go 11 hours!!! I think Ethan needs some lessons from him. How great to have that much sleep!
Trish - the exact same thing happens to me for my morning shower - I just have a towel handy!!!
Claire - I feel major let-down every feed and my boobs spray milk with voilent force!
Saffi - I am the same as Amber with routine and will wait till he stops needing the feed. He is down to two night-time feeds now which is pretty good and he doesn't cry - I just hear him making sucking noises, pop him on the boob and he has a drink then goes straight back to sleep so these feeds don't really bother me. Even on his nightmare days, he has always been really good in the night for some reason.
Alz - poor little Ethan! I hope he is better soon!
Mo - what teat do you use with Maddi then?
Nickers - your family is going to be in the horrors after DH gets wisdom teeth out! Lucky you will be well enough to hold it all together!! :-)
Domenic has taken day off with me today (I have been running to the toilet all day yesterday and last night :( Yuck!) but am feeling better now so am really enjoying having him home.
Have a good day all.
Terri. xoxo
Grrr! Its the same with me and Im not even breast feeding anymore! Grrr. How long does it take for this milk to dry up?? Annoying!!
Had an ok night. Chels slept from 9 til 3.30 then back until 9. She was sleeping through the last few nights but must have spoken to soon. Doesnt really bother me though.
Leah - hope you feel better soon. Tahlia does exactly the same thing with her fist, but will also not take the dummy. I find sometimes if I put her over my shoulder she starts sucking on that!
Hi everyone
It's only my first post....I have no idea what I'm doing! I have a little boy, Maxwell Benjamin, born 12th October 2007. He is absolutely devine! Sleeps through the night too...what a star
Welcome to the most talkative forum I have seen MiniMax and congrats on your arrival. Congrats too on the sleeping through! I just wish Caitlyn could learn a thing or two about the sleeping through thing. We put her to sleep around 830 and she normally wakes up at 1130 then 330 then 5. I guess she will when she is ready!
Star- Maddi uses the Nuk teats, only ones she likes.
Welcome Minimax :D
Welcome MiniMax! Lucky you having a good night sleeper!
