Morning all, just getting in for my morning email / computer updates before Max gets up for 7am feed. He slept through so I am lucky again...it's the stupid dogs that wake me up in the morning coz they are hungry! I'm scared his needles on Monday coming are going to make him turn yucky!!! Anyway, best be off and get myself some breakfast. Have a good day everyone
-
Morning Ladies,
I know I have been MIA for a couple of days but me saying Rhys has been a champ about his cold must have put a curse on him cause he has been a lil $**t ever since!!
Viv - Rhys has been the exact same. Clingy, screams his lungs out just for a nappy change, has only been sleeping in hour intervals and takes me forever to put him to sleep so I am unwrapping his swing he is suppose to be getting for christmas and he is getting it today instead!! Lol. Re: Dummies - I haven't tried the Pigeon one's yet. That is the only bottle he will take so I have to go buy a couple more today so I will get some dummies as well. Add more to the collection that I already have!!
Brissy Meet-Up - Not sure if I will be there. With the rain around and Rhys having a cold I might give it a miss but I will try my hardest to get there!!
Can't remember what else I wanted to say!! Have a good day ladies, off to the Dr's to get him checked out and I have found a lump in my arm pit so I have to get that checked out as well.
-
Maddi weighs 5.8kg is 60cms long & has a H.C of 40cms.
She's above average for everything & is thriving :D
So Phil & i are very happy.
Hope all the sick babies & mummies feel better soon.
-
Well Caitlyn is back to 3 hourly feeds - on the bloody dot too! And this morning at her 4 am feed she had a power spew! All down my back and all over the rug in her room. I really do think she has a problem with wind and I am beyond knowing what else to do. The infacol helps her get burps up - maybe I am just not burping her long enough? Do I stop after a burp or do I keep going?? Poor little thing I feel like I am torturing her!
She was hard to get down again last night. Fought with us until 830. Tried the bath, wrap, feed thing starting at 540 pm. So still took us nearly 3 hours to get her to sleep! Maybe she is sleeping too much during the day (or not enough!) She is napping now (since 830) so will just see how she goes. She puts out all the signals of being tired but as soon as we put her down she cries and wakes herself up again! Oh well. I am basically resigning myself to the 2 hour sleep schedule she has me on!
-
Rebecca - does Caitlyn have reflux???
-
Rebecca, have you tried just prop her up on your shoulder and letting her burp ainstaed of forcing it? I dont burp Myles, so i spose i cant really help? Does she have reflux? I wish I could help:(
mo you must be so proud of maddi!!!!!
Amelia hope your Dr appointment goes well good luck with the lump hopefully its just your glands! Hope you can make it tommorw!
Minimax! I dont know if your bubba will be the same but Myles was sleeping through untill his needles and now he is abit unsettled? I dont know though if its the heat aswell! Fingers crossed he will still be the same bub after his needlesx
Celtic ha these girls definatelty talk lots hey! Poor lil man needles suck hey:(
Terri I am the same I am not over the BF but over the massive amounts of food I am eating! I just cant stop! Well I can but I am hungry all the time:)
Alz so glad to hear ethan is alright!
hi to all the other mummies and bubbies!
Myles has been a bit unsettled at night so am trying to get him back into some sort of routine! He is an absolutely gorgeous boy during the day so its not affecting him!
funny story poor DH doesnt get to spend that much time with Myles, so he came home yesterday, myles and I are having a laugh and DH starts talking to him and his little lip dropped and he screamed:cry: Poor DH was so upset that he had upset him, I couldnt help but laugh( What a bad wife I am!);)
Anyway off to get an outdoor setting! yay!
xo

Finally a moment to type and Maddi wakes from another power nap.
Been keeping up with the latest goings on.....just never a spare mo
Welcome to Minimax and Max
Great news on all the growing babies and to those that are sleeping thru the night well done....Maddi isn't at that stage yet, she wakes once anywhere from 2-4am so it isn't really that bad.
Hey Mo excellent weight gain for Maddi and I love your ticker pic, Maddi looks like a stunner in the red dress - do you find that bright colours suit her? I find my Maddi suits pink and white and is kind of an old fashioned gal, trendy clothes look funny on her.....
Went to clinic this morning Maddi weighs on the dot for 5kg and is 60cm, with head circ of 39.4cm so she is doing well, she is taking 6-7 bottles a day of 120ml so even though some days I swear more comes out of her mouth in spews than goes in she is getting enough to keep her gaining weight - 300grams in 2 weeks.
Must dash time for a bottle - *waving to everyone in da room *
ETA - Alesha had her Yr 10 formal Tuesday night, how special it was to see all the kids la dee da in suits and dresses, can't believe we have a 16 year old and a newborn - think we will be schooling for lots of years to come. Will add some pics to facebook if anyone wants a squiz!
Hello Ambah - funny story abt dh that happens with Mandy as well - out goes the bottom lip if Maddi can't see me
-
Minimax & Boomba - Am beginning to think maybe she does have reflux but she is not spewing everytime she feeds. Tried to speak to the locum here about it but he told me reflux is the same as wind (I didnt think so?!) and that she would grow out of it. I hope she grows out of it soon if she is going to - I go back to work in about 3 weeks! ONly part-time but still I cant be waking up that often at night and still function at work!
Boomba - I know what you mean about DH not being able to spend a lot of time with bubs. My DH works about 12 hours a day and every time he comes home we are either almost done with a feed and about to sleep or she is already asleep. He came home during bath time yesterday and she looked at him like - "who the heck are you!?". He feels like she is going to grow up not knowing him and that really worries him. So I told him that he can put her to bed every night.
Does Myles burp himself? I havent tried just propping her on my shoulder and letting her do it herself - will try that next feed (soon!) but she gives up some really good burps some times.
I am seeing the Dr (my real Dr) on Monday for her needles so I will discuss possible reflux with him then. We thought she might have reflux earlier but we just dropped her teat size back down and the prob seemed to settle. Maybe it is reflux after all - oh but we did just change formula too so might be that? I dont know!!! Its all sooooo hard!!
-
Morning all!
Yay, I got my new car last night! DH didn't bring it home until 9:30pm though so I took it for a quick spin up the road in my PJ's LOL! I'm dying to take it out today, but I have nowhere to go :( . It is too much of a hassle loading both boys in the car for a quick drive to nowhere!
Mo - I don't have a preference for times/days in the new year. Would a weekend be a big pain to everyone? It would just be easier if DH could come and help me with the boys. I understand if it doesn't suit people. Well done on Maddi's growth!
Celtic - I hope Ryan has recovered from his needles. He is so cute in your ticker pic!
Amelia - I hope Rhys gets better soon. The poor little man.
Rebecca - Babies can have silent reflux which means they don't always throw up, but the acids can still travel up their osophegus (sp?) and cause them discomfort. Have you tried Brauer Colic Relief? I find it great at getting burps up. They also do a Stomach Calm which may help her tummy?
Boomba - Joel was always really unsettled after his injections. I hope Myles sleeps better for you soon.
Anyway, Kieran just finished feeding, better burp him!
-
Am heading to the chemist today to get a few of these things! Somethings gotta work right??
-
Rebecca i've tried Maddi on the stomach clam & it works wonders for her, It does make her empty her bowels, which i guess helps her get rid of any left over wind.
If your FF maybe you could try chaging her to a thicker fomula.
Trish weekends are fine by me.
Ursula Maddi has olive skin so when she wears the brighter colours they really bring out her skin tone, White looks good on her & makes her look smaller, pink shows off her figure.
I guess being olive she can wear almost all the colours :)
Love your ticker pic as well.

Hi All,
Pretty good night here :)
Eliza is at preschool and Amara is asleep, so I don't know what to do with myself LOL.
Still sad for my friend, Jessica's funeral was last Thursday but we could not go because it was in Tammworth. I saw some photos though and they are so tiny, my friend's wedding ring was on baby Jessica's arm!
On a brighter note, another friend, who is the Aunt of the baby who died had her baby yesterday - exactly 2 months after Amara was born. A little girl Jamie, so cute!!! Amara and Jamie are going to be best buddies :) and it is nice to have a friend to talk to who also has a newborn.
Must go, A is stirring.
-
Leah- i hope your friend is coping ok, not that she would be she just lost her baby, i was reading some premmie stories last night and balling reading what some parents ad children go through when it should be the happiest most exciting time of our lives.
It must have been the day for MCHN checks! I took both the boys today and the stats are:
Tyron:
5.4kg (50th percentile)
58cm (50th percentile)
39cm hc (25th percentile)
Nixon:
12.5kg (50th percentile)
88.5cm (90th percentile)
46.5cm (3rd percentile)
Tyron weighs at 2months what Nixon weighed at 4months!
almost exactly Nix at 4months was 5.3, 59cm and 38.8cm so his head was 0.2cm smaller lol.
Tyron is calling BBL

Hi
Well back from the paed and OB appointments. L is doing really well.Weighed in at 3.97kgs. Paed said he was small but probably just small in stature (both DH and I are only average height). The best thing I can do is to keep feeding on demand. Spoke to Dr about the vax and he said that they modern vaccines are very good in terms of side effects and reactions. He is supposed to go backin 6 months.
Ob visit ok too. Nothing much to talk about now it is all over.
L was very restless yesterday afternoon, after me saying how good he was being. Anyway, he was so tired that he slept from 7.15pm to 3.15am straight. So obviously needed to feed him after that. If only I can get him to do that after 12am. Up then at 5.30ish and then kept him in bed with us as I didn't want to get up to keep doing dummy duties.
Off now to MCHC for my first mothers group. Should be interesting.
Trish - great having a new car, isn't it. DH came home yesterday and told me he sideswiped a pole. Our beautiful car is damaged :( Oh well he will have to arrange to have it fixed as I won't drive around in it in case people think I did it.
See all you Brissy girls tomorrow.

Rebecca if it is relux try a product called Mariners infant mixture! It worked wonders for my nephews with relfux, he was in so much pain untill they tried it and they swear by it! Myles soetumes doesnt even burp after a feed! We were burping him religously after each feed when we first came home and now we dont do it all and he is happy, but all babies are different:) Good luck wil be thinking of you!
Ursula love your new Av!!!
Went and got an outdoor setting! I went and sat in the car to feed myles while DH fixed it up in the store and a lady pulled up got out of her car left it running with her baby inside:( I had a look and the bub mustnt have been any older than 1! she was gone for at least 10 mins! What if that lil bubba got upset or choked on something I was so worried but had to look after myles, by the time we left the carpark at least 10mins had passed and the mum still hadnt come out of the shop! Poor little man!:(
Have to go he is calling me again!x
-
Lily - What is the stomach clam?? I have grabbed a different bottle (nuk) and some small teats for her to see if she prefers a different shaped teat. Am going to try her on special reflux formula tomorrow to see if that helps at all. Am trying brauers colic relief today to see if that is going to help. Went to the post office to pick up her new toys and while I was there she spewed all over me (and the floor!). This was abut 45 mins after a feed! And I had tried Gaviscon with that feed too so dont know if thicker formual will help but am willing to ive it a go!
-
Rebecca-It's by brauers as well, i think it's the same as the colic relief, but it helps with relux and upset tummy's.
Hope they thicker formula helps. Maddi was a spewy baby on the normal formula, but not on the thicker ones.
Maddi loves all thing's Nuk :)
-
Well the colic relief seems to have helped a little - she is having a nap. However, silly me, I dont know whether its from the brauers stuff or the bottle! Oh there we go she has woken herself up - will go wrap her little arms and try again
-
hi everyone,
we are having a bad day today, Tahlia doesnt want to go to sleep, but she is very tired... I think its the hot weather.. not looking forward to the hot summer ahead! I've just put her in her swing and now she is dozing but we'll see how she goes
Got her santa pics back today and have uploaded them to facebook for anyone who is interested
Melbourne meetup - during the week or a weekend suits me.. doesn't worry me either way!
-
Alz - I was trying to PM you to give you the link to a reflux support group - they are Brisbane based but I am sure they can give you some useful contacts for NSW
Lily - Which formula do you use? Is it an Anti-reflux one or just a normal but thicker one? I have S26AR to give a go tomorrow.
-
Hi All,
Sorry to hear you guys having trouble with reflux. I am very lucky neither of my kids have had it. My SIL's son did and OMG! She used the infant Gaviscon and he was a different child.
Question for all BF Mums - does your bub have fussing days? Today and yesterday a bit when I go to feed her sometimes she just screams :(. Then 15 min later fine. The next feed she was pulling her head around and coming off and on and leaning back so my boob is going every which way. VERY annoying and a crappy feed for her. Any advice? Still plenty of wees etc so I know somehting is getting in there.
Kellie - had a squiz at Tahlia's pics - OMG she is too cute!!
It is cold and rainy here today and I went to put Amara in a Bonds Wondersuit 00 and she is too big for it!!! Porker. Well not in the body but in length, she is over 60cm long now. I had to put her in a 0 which is loose in the body and a tiny bit long but OMG I have a long baby. I am pretty sure Eliza didn't Bonds 0's them until about 6 months.
Hope you all have a good arvo,
-
Rebecca i use Karicare HA-AR for Maddi, Hope the new formula, drops & bottles help Caitlyn.
-
rebecca My neighbour has an acid reflux baby and has a LOT of trouble (she hardly leaves the house....though I don't know if that is because of him so much...hmmm - he is 9 months old). She has had to take him to specialists etc because his little tubes got so burned he was votmiting and pooping blood. I think she might have left it too long before she did anything, so hopefully you will find something that works for the spewing before it gets bad like that. Wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy!
Kellie Hope your day gets better!
Lizzy Yep, I am having the squirm around on the boob baby...he tends to do it then I sit him up and he burps. I think Max is starting to get too nosey as well and just wants to look around instead of staring at my boob! I just keep persisting till I think he's really had enough.
Ooooo gotta go... He's calling!
-
Leah - when Tahlia fusses like that I usually find that she needs a burp too, she starts waving her arms around and tugging at my boob and making grunting noises, but cause she is such a piglet she won't come off cause she wants to keep drinking!
-
Hey all!
Nic - Wow, Tyron is a great size! You are doing such a great job.
Saffi - Bummer about your car!
Amber - I can't BELIEVE that lady left her bub in her car! There are sooo many things that could have gone wrong. I would have called the police!
Rebecca - I hope the colic relief helps!
Kellie - Sorry your day hasn't been so good. Kieran hardly slept at all yesterday during the day. They say babies have one unsettled day a week so I just kept telling myself that today was the day and tomorrow will be better! (Luckily today was better ;) )
Leah - Kieran has been fussing on the boob while I type this! He cries and claws at his face. He usually does it when he needs to burp, or sometimes he just cleans me out really quickly then gets frustrated. Some days are definitely worse than others, it stresses me out when he does it.
I still haven't taken my car out yet :( It is just sitting out there temptingly! I'll have to find an excuse to go somewhere tomorrow!
-
Leah, as the others have said, when Theo is "windy", he trashes and pulls on and off like that. A good burp usually sorts him out.
-
Leah - I always found Bonds wondersuits were quite small though. LOL.
Chels has been a little unsettled today too. Nothing major really - still cant complain, was just miss clingy pants today. Only wanted to sleep if she was being cuddled. All sound asleep in bed now though. I cant believe she is still in 0000. She'll probably be going into 000 soon I reckon, but still, 0000 is nowhere near to small for her. And she weighs 5.15kg now too. Liam at this stage was probably almost in 00 to!
Look forward to seeing everyone at the Brissy meet up tomorrow (that is if anyone is still going. LOL)
-
yeah, i think im still going, even though i am SO sick of shopping centres. i spent from 9.30am till 3pm on wednesday at indro and then today i was at indro again from 4.30pm till 9pm. so gay but at leats i got ALLLLLLLL of my xmas shopping finished. Luckuy lachie was being good in the pram:)
-
oh and on a random note, i had an old lady come up to me today and said that i had a beautiful pram!! lol normally its beautiful baby hahahah
-
Morning all - Hope all the Brissy gals have a good day today catching up!
Hayley does have fussy moments on the boob but generally its because she needs to have a burp, feeding times are still anywhere from 8 to 10 mins on each side. She won't come off herself though most of the time, little darling would just stay there all day doing dummy sucks if I let her :)
I haven't had her weighed in the last two weeks (she was 3.6kg) but in some clothes she is still definately a 0000, others shes in 000. I'm still using Newborn nappies but am a bit worried that they're getting too tight on her thighs? I don't think she has thunder thighs but I've tried the next size up and they look massive on her!
Paed appt next week so will get updated stats then.
Planning our Feb holiday today! Yippee can't wait - heading up to the Gold coast so might get to say hi to those of you lucky enough to live there
Hope everyone has a good day
-
Morning everyone.
Not that I'm complaining, but yesterday Max slept so much during the day, and woke once in the night at around 3:30am (he usually sleeps through). During the day he had one 2 hour sleep, another 1.5 hour sleep.... 2 x 40 min kips..... He is feeding about 6 - 7 times in 24 hours for 10 mins on each side. So is there such thing as too much sleep? I try and do the feed, play, sleep thing, but he's usually ready to sleep again fairly soon after a feed....so the play time is short. Is there another growth spurt at around 9 weeks??
He will probably be one of those teenagers that only comes out of his room to go to the fridge!!
-
Hey brissy girls is it still 11:30? I have forgotten!
Hope everyone is well! Myles had his first big screaming match last night since he was 2 weeks! It was awful nothing helped poor lil man:( But he is back to normal now! YAY!
X
-
Hey ladies,
Not going to make it to the meet up today!! I am coming down with the flu now!! :-( Rhys is getting better and I am getting sick so I hope I don't give it back to him. Off to clean the house and hopefully sweat out this flu!!
Hope you all have a good day.
-
Well we had a great night!!! NOT Did our normal screaming pink fit until 830 last night. Slept till 1030 then up for a feed. The she woke again at 1230 so I just cuddled her and she went to sleep. Then up again at 230 and wouldnt settle after her feed. Took her into bed with us and she fell asleep. We didnt get up till 720 this morning. Mind you she had been trying to get me to get up earlire than that! I really dont want her to sleep in our bed! What is it that she hates about her cot sooooo much!?!
Well she is napping now - I really have to start paying more attention to her tired signs. She will be dropping off then all of a sudden arch her back and throw her legs out then draw them up again and start crying! Am going to try the AR formula today - just gotta find the riht teat size for it so that she doesnt choke on it but she doesnt have to struggle to get it. I have some Nuk ones that I am going to try so will see how she goes at her next feed.
Anyway - hope all you Brissy girls that are getting together have fun! Wish I could be there!
-
Rebecca, Myles loves to be in the bed with me too! They do just love to be near us, considering they just spent 9 months inside us which is as close as you can get! So she is probably just really conteted being with you! Myles comes into our bed when DH goes to work at midnight and he sleeps really well! Its also really easy for me to feed him and sleep at the same time!
Amelia hope you get better! Have fun cleaning the house!
x
-
Boomba - UNfortunately I am not breast feeding so I would still have to get up at night to feed her - wish I was BF though.
Does anyone else co-sleep and FF?
She has just gone down for a nap now. Tried the thickened formula - I must have a lazy baby - she wouldnt suck the teat to get the thickened formula out! Tried 3 different sized teats and each one she screamed at. Eventually went back to her normal feed and teat. Seriosly I give up! I am absolutely exhausted and at the end of my rope. I really cant wait to go back to work so that I can get some peace and quite.
-
hi all
so, after a couple of weeks of these awesome 8 or 9 hour stretches at night, Mr Cheeky has gone back to needing the midnight (or 1am) snack. sometimes he will stay mostly asleep but last night he was bug-eyed and very up! so eventually i fitballed him back to sleep. he woke up five minutes later with vom all over himself. then he vommed again. then he had a nappy leak. his cot was a disaster so i took him to bed with me and we actually slept in... and were late for the doc (imm day).
he had all his needles bar Hep B and Hib. didn't feel those were necessary until he's older. he screamed blue murder for 30 seconds before guzzling a boob. he's doing well so far... (dh did have a couple of tears when jj screamed - he was holding him so i didn't go to pieces).
as for fussing on boob - yes! especially early this morning. lots of pulling at it and wagging his head round like a fool. he had a really good day yesterday (thanks to fitball) but made up for it vomming and stacking nappies. i think he needs to go up to crawler.
he weighed in at 6.7kg today. i think his crazy growing has slowed a little. that's about 160g/w for the last two weeks. he's 61.5cm long and pushing it in length for 00 clothes.
about 'dh time'. dh has been doing the bottle of EBM feed at 5pm. i don't 'need' to do it but i do because i like them to bond and i want dh to be comfortable with him (so i can go to the beach one day!). they're bonding really well now.
for those with babies sleeping through.. apparently it's a weight/tummy size thing. once they can pack enough food in to stay asleep, they usually will (except for the wet nappy/vom scenario). beware that they chop and change. james has done this twice now... had a week or two of long sleeps followed by wanton midnight-snackery.
-
Afternoon all!
We're having a pretty successful sleep day today. After much thought, I changed our routine today so that we start our day at 7am. He woke at 5am to feed, then I got him up at 7am for the day. It was nice to walk into his room and have him smile at me instead of cry for his feed! He has since gone down for each nap without much fuss and hasn't needed resettling. I'm sure today is just a freakishly good day though! There are some days when he is unsettled all day and I go in and out of his room like a yo-yo! I think I'll stick at our 7am start as it seems to fit in our day better. I have been able to spend more quality time with Joel this way too.
I finally took the new car out for a spin! We went to the local shopping centre to buy a couple of birthday presents. Kieran was an angel and slept in his pram the whole time at the shops. He stayed asleep in the car on the way home and I was able to put him in his cot when we got in the door and he stayed asleep. What a good boy! I am so used to Joel as a baby who was never that easy.
Anyway, I've rambled on enough about me! I hope everyone is having a great day.
-
don't you love it when they're angels...
-
Can't wait till Hayleys weight and tummy size sort themselves out so we can all sleep through!!!
