Lachie is going well, not sleeping much through the day though???
Thanks everyone! I think I'm pretty lucky with Max, he is so laid back. He is sleeping lots which might be due to the fact that he is growing soooo rapidly!
Welcome MiniMax. BB is very easy to use and here in the Octo-bubs group we are really friendly and chatty. Look forward to hearing all about Maxwell Benjamin. We have another Perth girl in this group and I'm sure she'd be happy to have another Westie.
I read somewhere that as the feeder you can drop the feed. I had just thought that the baby decided this when he didn't wake up as usual. I think I will try settling first. We normally feed L 100mls of EBM as his last feed of the evening or sometimes the first of the morning (2am) depending on how long his evening sleep goes for.
Well today is a lot better than yesterday. He slept for over an hour this morning, was up for about 90mins and after about 30 mins of settling he is out to it. It is cloudy and a lot cooler here today so that might be the difference. Did a lot of reading overnight about settling and stuff to do babies so feel more prepared today.
Welcome minimax! What a cutie you have there! Welcome to BB too you will love it!
x
welcome minimax and congratulations on the bith of Maxwell!
thats great with the night sleeps!
Welcome Minimax! My DD was born the same day as Max :)
Saffi - I am letting Amara dictate when she drops a feed. As I am BF I feel she will wake if she is hungry. I feed any time after about 2 hours if I think her signs are hunger. She is generally going from about 10.30pm to 5am which is great.
Gotta run 3 year old with glue downstairs EEEEEKKK!
Welcome minimax!
Thanks for the teat info girls - I'm going to try with a bottle of EBM tomorrow! Be nice if he will take a bottle once in a while as we are off to the UK for a month and I'd love to have a beer or three with some of my friends and family! I'nm so excited about going! Not so much about the flight with a toddler in tow though!
Saffi - I didn't encourage Em to drop a night feed until she was well onto solids, I think she fed twice overnight then. Harry is thankfully sleeping from bedtime till 5am so only one feed overnight anyway. It's always the 1am feed that buggers us isn't it? You could try re-settling, bubs will definitely let you know if it's hungry!
Ange - What a cute little Lu Santa!! Beautiful!
Nic - Ouch for DH, I had 3 out at the same time and had a mighty jaw ache for a while.
Welcome Minimax, We definately are the most talkative group! Dont come on for a day, and you have 5 hours worth of reading to do. LOL
Wow Claire, you are game going on a plane for that long with a toddler. LOL. All my family is in Adelaide but Im too scared to take my DS even that far.... I know Im a wuss..... What you gonna do to keep her occupied for so long?
Hope your feeling better Terri....
welcome minimax and congrats on the birth of your baby
I've had a hard day today, Tahlia has hardly slept... everytime I try to put her down she grizzles so I can't get anything done. I don't think there is anything wrong with her cause as soon as I pick her up she is happy, she just wants to be held!
Yay I got my Av, check me out! *struts back and forth*
Kellie - Sometimes bubs just want their mummy! As flattering as that is, it can be frustrating when you want to get things done!
Trish I lurve your avatar!!!!!!
x
Thanks Amber ;) I love your santa pic of Myles, how cute does he look?!
cool av Trish!
Great Av Trish.
Love all the cute Santa pics, makes me want to do one with Maddi :)
Trish - What's an avatar? I don't know what I'm looking for!! :-)
I love everyone's pics of their bubs with their little Santa hats - so cute!!!
Welcome MiniMax - Mxwell looks like a cutie!
Sweet dreams to all.....
xoxo
terri
avator is the little picture next to their names.
welcome minimax, im blessed with an angel as well. he has slept through since he was 2 weeks old! what a good boy
where are you from?
Morning everyone!
Well we seem to have a pattern going now! Last feed at 9pm, next feed at 5am then sleeps until 8:15am, I am enjoying this!!
I am excited today, I get my new car tonight! It is just a Camry, but I've never had a new car before. It is a lease deal from DH's work, employees get a special deal for their partners when they have worked there for 2 years. DH got his new car yesterday, he gets a new company car every 12 months and we always get a Prado, this one is silver! I get to drive it today while DH picks up my car. I needed something exciting ATM!
We're off to meet a friend and her kids at a park later this morning, it will be great to get out of the house.
Kellie - Love your Santa pic of Tahlia! I will have to hunt around for our santa hat and do one with Kieran.
Terri - Yep, my avatar is the pic next to my name. I upgraded to platinum membership so I get to have one!
Misskate - Cute ticker pic of Lachlan! He has gorgeous big eyes.
Morning All,
Hope everyone is well.
Nice Av Trish :)
Pretty good night here, 11pm, 3am, 6.30am.
I used to leak in the shower too but seems to have stopped lately.
We don't do Santa pics but your are all very cute!
Amara is 9 weeks on Friday! I haven't had my 6 week postnatal checkup yet LOL! Better get and make an appointment (but bet I don't)......
Cold is getting a bit better, now ust feeling fat and frumpy......wishing for instant jelly belly remover thingy..........
*Wishing for some of Leah's instant jelly belly remover too*
Off for a pram walk and then mothers group. HAve a great day Melbourne gals....
Made chrissy pudding, even i am impressed with myself!
Morning All!
Lovely avi Trish - how'd you get your eyelashes so thick?
Becky - Thankfully I have DH with us and he's a big kid. He will take on the majority of minding Em whilst I look after Harry. I will have a stash of new things to give her to play with, but I'm working from the premise she'll need to stretch her legs so everyone will just have to deal with her running the aisles once in a while! She's got her own seat which comes with her own TV - I'm thinking she may have the attention span to sit through most of an animated movie. I've bought her a leappad and we'll get some new books, play card games - just try and make a big adventure of it really!
Morning all!
Well we had a pretty good night. She resisted sleep until about 830 and then woke at 1240 for a feed and then not again until 4. After that feed I took her straight to our bed because I knew if I didnt she would wake at 5 am and I would have to get out of bed again! (Is that lazy?!?)
She is having a little nap now so I am getting stuff done. Had a bad day yesterday and told DH that he had to take her for an hour while I had a bath. Was very stressed from her crying all day and tired (still catching up on lack of sleep on Saturday night). Does anyone have any other solutions for wind other than INfacol and infants friend? They work for a little while but poor Caitlyn is forever drawing up her knees and looks uncomfortable. And her poo is this GREAT shade of khaki that worries me.
Rebecca, Maddi's MCHN said to try giving her bath if she's in alot a pain.
You could also trying massaging her tummy & when you burp her try patting/rubbing from the bottom of her back & work your way to the top.
Maddi was a horrid burper & would have the such bad wind pain, but thankfully she's growing out of it now & burps herself alot of the time now :)
Thanks Lily. I use Infacol and she seems to get her burps up alright but just during the day she draws her legs up. I am just assuming it is wind. We stopped using the Infacol for a while to see if she would burp herself but after 2 days she was crying when I sat her up to burp her so we started again yesterday. Will see if her poo goes back to the colour it was before we stopped Infacol. I just hate seeing her so uncomfortable.
Hey all
Just checking in.
Yesterday was brilliant and today is going pretty well also. Tho had a bit of trouble putting L down for his lunchtime nap, we got there. Actually sitting by his cot with the laptop just in case he spits the dummy (literally). That kid has us both trained I swear!
Went out for dinner again last night. L was a bit stroppy when DH came home so we went for a walk to our local village and while I had doubts L settled and slept most of the time and didn't grizzle at all. This is great as we used to go out every Tuesday night for dinner and it appears that we may be able to keep that up.
Paed and OB check up tomorrow. Also got my first Mothers Group arranged by the child health centre. Hope they are as nice as all of you.
Speaking of which, 2 days until the next Brissy Octobubs lunch. Woohoo!!
We got a santa hat for L. I better take a photo so he can be like the rest of santa's little helpers.
Didn't have the heart to drop a feed overnight. So up at 3.15am, then 5.15 and finally 7am. Wish I had but he didn't have the EBM last night so felt he probably needed the feeds.
Anyway, best go and do something now that it looks like he is in for a big sleep.
OMG had the worst christmas shopping pram rage experience today! Some stupid woman bashed Max's pram with her trolley as she was leaving woolies....I wanted to punch her lights out!!
Anyone else only just realising how non-pram friendly some shops are! I'm disgusted!
Minmax, i know what you mean with the shops.
How rude i would felt like doing the same thing, some people just don't care at all.
Rebecca- I hated seeing Maddi like that as well. Hopefully Caitlyn will start burping herself soon.
Went to lunch with Kim, Craig, Chelsea & Jasmine today it went well :)
Chelsea is adorable & Jasmine was so well behaved hardly made peep.
Maddison was watching Chelsea cry then all of the sudden Maddison just starting screaming gave us all a little shock lol
Has anyone decided on a date for the next vic meet-up?
Hi everyone.
Welcome Minimax. I have only been on this forum for a couple of weeks and have found it great. Everyone is very friendly and supportive. Congrats on your little man.
Well we had a check with the paed yesterday. Ethan doesn't have a uti at all. The last test came back clear thank goodness. He said Ethan is doing ok. He is a fussy bub but we are doing all the right things. He has a flat spot on the back of his head where he lies. He favours one side. We need to try and encourage him to turn his head more. He can do it but is just really stubborn.
Having a fairly good day today. I have increased the amount of formula he has. I think he is so restless because he is still hungry. He always wakes up about 30 min before feed and grizzles. Is it 150ml per kilo in 24 hours? I think that was what we were told. I worry a lot about over feeding him. Since putting him on soy he has become a real guts. I don't want him to get over weight. Any one else worry about this.
Hope you are all having a great day. I am enjoying the cooler weather in Syd. Better than the stinking hot days we had last week.
We are in the middle of a thunderstorm at the mom (Are you not supposed to use laptops in a storm??????) We are all good here too. Just a quiet one at home, both babies aslepp at the moment (I try to work it that way so I can have an hour os so of quiet.LOL)
Minimax _ i would have wanted to punch her too! Some people can just be so rude!
Claire - Good on you, I hope you have a great time!!
Saffi - WOOHOO< only 2 days. :)
This may be a stupid question, but what do all the coloured boxes mean up the top of a post? Everyone has one. They ae different colours some say .... are on the way, some say, unknown and some say they are disabled?? Just curious?
Becky - They are reputation points. Dont know what that means but I think if you like someones answer you can increase their reputation.
Alz - I just average out what it says on the can. If it says 5 feeds of 150 ml (750 ml/24 hours) then as long as Ethan is getting 750 ml in a 24 hour period (example only!!!) then its all good. I dont think it is important that they take the full amount (150ml) in one sitting. Caitlyn has 100 ml one feed and then 120 the next and sometimes she has an extra feed of 60 ml. It all seems to add up in the end.
Good afternoon!
We had a nice time at the park, got to BF in the great outdoors! Joel had a great time running around with some other kids his age.
Kieran has a nasty acne rash ATM, I asked the chiro what it is and he said it is a common rash babies get at 6 weeks due to hormones, etc... It just looks so nasty, I hope it goes away soon.
Saffi - Glad the last couple of days have gone smoothly for you. You're doing a great job on your own!
Minimax - How rude of that lady! People have no regard for others these days. I got elbowed out of the way at a buffet by an elderly man when I was heavily pregnant! I was speachless!!
Mo - Glad you had a nice day with Kim & co! Kim & her DH are so lovely and Chelsea is such a cutie isn't she? Jasmine is such a nice placid bub, they are so lucky! Can't wait to meet all the Melb girls, no date set yet. Should we wait until after Christmas?
alz - I'm glad Ethan doesn't have a UTI, I hope he settles for you soon.
Becky - I try and get the boys to nap at the same time too! It is so nice having a break from them.
Hi everyone,
We had a nice day out today too, went for lunch with my mum, nana and sister and her little one, although Tahlia woke up just as my meal was served!
Re the Melb meetup - its probably easier to wait until the new year now... what does everyone else think?
Maddi has been up since 8:30am & has only slept 2 hours for the whole day, now i have a very over tired cranky baby.
At least she'll well tonight.
Trish-Kim & co are very nice, I couldn't get over how good Jas is, Maddi makes more noise than her in her sleep lol
I'm happy with before or after christmas, Can't wait to meet everyone as well hopefully we can all make it this time :)
Trish hope Kieran's rash clears up soon.
Alz-Glad Ethan doesn't haave a uti.
Trish - I still can't see your Av! Mateo had a rash like Kieran's and I found that bathing him in Pinetarsol really helped.
I had a lovely day out with my Mum too! Got lots of shopping done and Mateo was a star!
Also went to a new nurse to get him weighed - he is now 5.7kg! Little boofa! Also she seems to think he is lactose intolerant so no dairy for me now - starting to get a bit over BF - so many sacrifices, first my body, now the food I eat!! Ah well, all for a good reason I suppose! :-)
xoxo
i know what ya mean about missing a day and.. *googly eyes* a lot of reading.
welcome minimax *waves*
star - good-o, come get the nappies when you're up my way. i'm always here.... *sigh*
whoever mentioned the fist sucking thing -- yes, jj had it bad, especially a muslin covered fist. he looks into space like, 'oooh that's good muslin'. we had to go the dummy route because of it. shortens his tantrums when he's fighting sleep.
he's been mr clingy, mr frequent feed and mr i'm going to have a damn good cry before i finally go to sleep.
here's my, 'what a ditz' story for today...
dh rocked jj to sleep this evening on my fitball. worked a treat. i did it to settle him for his final put down tonight. what kind of ditz am i? i spent MONTHS doing exactly that when i was pregnant, bouncing the little sucker to billy-o while i sat at the computer doing school work all day. why in dog's name did i not think of that earlier? it would be the most familiar sensation in the world to him... and to think it took dh to think of it? *flicks hair* like... yanno... whatever.
for all of you with fusspots.. give it a bash if you were ball bouncers when you were pregnant.
seems so obviously now...
LOL Viv! Glad the ball works for you!
Star - Wow, what a porker! You must have some good stuff in there! Can you see other member's avatars? If not it is probably not ticked in your settings. If you want to show avs, go to your User Profile, click on the "Edit Options" link, scroll down to the title "Visible Post Elements" and make sure the "Show Avatars" option is ticked, then save your changes.
Kellie & Mo - Maybe a meet-up in the new year then?
My little angel has finally crashed after many tantrums, a bath, a massage, a bottle & cuddle with mum while watching ER.
Trish-I'm happy with the new year, first or second week of Jan? Anyone fancy a particular day & time?
Heya all,
Lil Mr. got his needles and my god did he scream! Not a happy camper (although I don't blame him) but a comfort bottle through teary eyes made it all better was even able to do a quick shop with him afterwards before he started to get whingey again. He's been whingey on and off since so think he doesn't feel the greatest from it poor boy!
Got the pill as well actually looking forward to taking it and having a bit more control over bleedies! Had nearly 7 weeks of bleeding and bleeding while preg esp at the end will be good to be able to have some control over it now!
Hope everyone is well sorry it's not very personalised I'm too tired to read the posts properly at the moment I need to attack all your fingers with tranquilisers so I can keep up with you all!
Grrrr. Cant sleep. Dunno why. There isnt much to do at this time of night though. LOL
After not sleeping all day Maddi sleept from 9:30pm half woke up for a bottle at 11:30pm then slept all the way through till 8am.
We are alot more happier today :D
Off to see her MCHN at 9:30am, i'm thinking she's close to cracking the 6kg mark.
