Nic – WTG on the crawling!! Woohoo!! Not so Woohoo on the car!! Or the credit card IN the car….lets hope the cops catch them!!
Amber-Caitlyn had eczema on her back and it got really red and scaly and itchy. Dr prescribed some cortisone cream. I used it twice, very very thinly, and now it is gone. I just keep it at bay with pawpaw cream.
Ange-Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww! I have been lucky in that Caitlyn has no interest in that. And most of her pooy nappy changes are handled at daycare. Which, sometimes, I think is great and other times I think its not so great and then there are the times that I think its horrible. But then that’s the daycare roundabout of feelings.
Trish-Its not lame at all!! Caitlyn is still not crawling or commandoing or anything! She just lays there and sometimes gets onto her knees and then goes back onto her belly. I think if I were able to put her on the ground outside she may get some better crawling action happening but that’s just not going to happen out here in my red dust pit of a yard! Oh and the balloon thing…..I know EXACTLY what you mean. I can’t even look at them without getting sick to my stomach. I hate them.

No news for us here. Caitlyn's all night sleeps have come to an end again. Up at 4 am the past 2 nights which I guess isnt too bad - its still 10 hours. Unfortunately I dont enjoy being up at 4 in the morning!! Bought her back to bed with us and we slept until 7!! Well DH got up at 615 (late!) for work but we stayed in bed and then we were almost late.
The little drool monster is still around! The drool just HANGS from her mouth and chin! I cannot imagine where it all comes from. The top teeth have GOT to be coming through soon!
Anyway - slow day at work - the boss is at the EKKA and so its just me and one of the other girls in the office - not a lot to do for me but she is flat out the poor bugger!

Oh I just thought of something too......at what age can I give little miss C commercially prepared fish fingers?? or are they a no no until she is much older? Am just wondering as DH is putting in even longer hours (who would have thought that possible?!?) and now I have to finish work, get C from d/care and then get home and cook us both dinner. So somethign quick and easy that isnt quite tinned food would be good. Or does anyone have some quick/easy meal suggestions??

Sorry it has been a while. Last couple of weeks has been hectic. I am back at work 2 days now so am learning to juggle work, house, baby, husband etc. Anyway I am not whinging just learning.

I am loving being back at work. It is so good to get out and chat with adults. Although I am missing Ethan like crazy.

Well exciting news. Ethan is standing up by himself now. He can go about 5 seconds. I think he could go longer but he gets tired and sits down. He is also cruising the furniture and having a great time.

Just thought I'd pop in and do a bit of a catch-up, have read back a bit and sounds like all the bubbas teeth are giving them a bit of grief and they are all reaching those exciting milestones which is great!!

Mateo is doing really well - he is a very happy little fella and stands on his own and cruises around the furniture at a million miles an hour so he's keeping me on my toes! His top teeth are cutting through which means he is a bit out of sorts, but otherwise well.

Rebecca - do you have time on the weekends to do a bit of cooking and freezing? I am back working one day a week now so have to be a bit more organised with dinners on that day too - take my hat off to you working full time, it must get sooo busy! Things that I freeze and Teo loves are lasagne, casseroles with any kind of meat and vegies, and pasta sauce. I would be hesitant to give fish fingers just cause of the preservatives and stuff. Hope you find something that works!

Rebecca - haven't tried L on fish fingers but we have given him chicken and veg fingers. He loves them and as he likes to feed himself I am looking for anything to give him that he can feed himself. You could always take the crumb off them if you are worried about the extra fat.
Trish - now that K has started crawling there will be no stopping him. You'll need to have eyes in the back of your head with 2 little ones running around.

Mamma Mia - yeah loved it! It was cheesy but so is ABBA but I still love them.

Anyway, trying to stay up for the Olympics opening ceremony but don't think I will make it. Oh well I am sure they will replay it at least 100 times before the end of the games.

Star-I WISH I had time to do some cooking on the weekend. I used to, every sunday, cook up a heap of veges and puree the heck out of them and freeze that but Caitlyn seems to be a bit over that. DH is working from 6 am until (at the earliest) 6 pm today and tomorrow. so it is just me and Caitlyn trying to get some housework done that doesnt get done during the week. I do have a slow cooker though and at the moment I have a chook in there for her (and a little for me). Will try and get some casseroles done through the week. Do you make the pasta sauce yourself?? I really do need things that she can feed herself cause she gets sooo grumpy when she cant have the spoon!!
Can you cook meat and then freeze it??? If so I will take a lamb roast out of the freezer and do that tomorrow!! Can you cook veges and then freeze them?? This is stuff I dont know! I know I can cook pasta sauce and freeze it. But can it have the mince in it???
Oh this bit is hard - was nice and easy when I could just puree stuff for her!
We have had a great day here so far.....as long as you dont count me being lazy, bringing miss C back to bed with me this morning and her nappy overflowing all over our bed!! Aaarrgghh more washing!!!

Rebecca- I was always under the impression that you could only freeze cooked meat if it were fresh when you cooked it, ie just bought from the butcher/supermarket etc. If its already been frozen, it cant be refrozen, but I could be wrong!

I recently made up a huge mix of minced beef, pumpkin, potato, zucchini and carrot and then mixed it all together and Tahlia has that at night time, along with some fingerfood of either brocoli, cauliflower or pasta

Frustrating day. Ethan is sick again so had to cancel plans for date night. We discovered this week that E is allergic to Amoxil (just like me) so we have to just stick this cold out until his rash has cleared up.

Saffi - Thanks for asking. Ethan is doing just fine without me. Couldn't care less that I am not there. When I get home he stops what he is doing to give me a smile and then goes back to playing. I wish he would miss me just a little. My mother in law is looking after him. My mum is so jealous but she works.

Evening everyone!

DH & Joel have gone away in the caravan so it's just K and me this weekend. Both K & I woke up with colds this morning :(. Poor K has been miserable all day with runny eyes and a runny nose. He perked up after his bath tonight though. He is slowly mastering commando crawling now, it is starting to look a bit more elegant LOL! He only does it if there is something he really wants and there is a lot of kicking and frustrated screaming involved - so funny :cryinglaugh:.

Tonight K was reaching for my laptop (as usual :rolleyes:) and I said "No", he looked up and shook his head at me! It was so cute, it's a shame DH wasn't there to see it.

Alz - Sorry to hear Ethan is sick. Hopefully you can reschedule your date night!

Rebecca - You can freeze cooked vegies and meat. I do it all the time :). Glad I'm not the only one with a balloon phobia ha-ha!

Well I'm gonna get an early night in I think. K woke up 3 times last night with his blocked up nose, the poor little man. I checked on him tonight and he is sleeping on his tummy, he's never done that before!

Rebecca - yes you can freeze cooked meat. You can't refreeze things that have already been frozen and then defrosted. As an example, things like the fish you get at the supermarket that is in the fresh fish section that have been frozen, but is defrosting. You can't take that home and put it in the freezer. But you can freeze the fresh fish. They should always display what is fresh and what has been frozen. With roasts and other meat you take out of the freezer, once you've cooked it, it is completely different and hence you can then freeze it in its new, altered form.

I will often make up a pasta sauce (even just a bottled pasta sauce) with mince in it, have some for dinner and freeze the rest for later on. With things like roasts, you can do the same. Often if I have left over gravy I slice up the meat, pour over some gravy in a freezer container and you have a roast for another night. Don't forget to get a marker pen and write what it is and when you put it in there.

I've never tried to freeze just plain cooked veg, but I suppose you could. If you have packaged frozen veg, it only takes a four mins to cook in the microwave so I personally wouldn't bother as frozen veg is nutrionally as good if not better than many fresh veg (especially out there I would think).

Feeling rather inspired. We had some left over rice and vege from dinner and had some minced chicken that I had frozen and put it all together with some egg yolk and breadcrumbs and made little patties. Hopefully L will like them. If not they taste really yum with sweet chilli sauce!

Trish - yes I did watch the ceremony, but did fall asleep through some of it, woke up, watched more, fell asleep, woke up etc. Finally went to bed at 1.20am and L woke up at 3:doh: After a nappy change and a bit of a cuddle he went back to sleep. Hope you're enjoying your weekend with K. L understands "no" too but he still goes ahead and does it.

L has worked out how to use the doggy door, tho hasn't gone through it yet. The door opens up onto a landing with a steep flight of stairs so better put some other safety measure in place with that one.

Things still the same here...night sleeps are on again / off again good v bad. Max also has another cold so is all boogy. DH & I had a bit of an 'issue' yesterday so am still a bit off about that....trying to distract myself! Might go make dinner for later!

Trish How exciting about K doing a bit of commando....Max is moving a 'BIT' more but still doesn't get the whole forward movement thing! One of these days I'm sure I will live to regret me wanting to get him going!

Gah! We're all sick as dogs :(. DH is at home today, he came down with our cold last night. Lucky him gets to rest and is currently having a nap :rolleyes:. Why can't I have a sick day?! I now have Joel's cough as well as a sore throat, blocked nose and sinus. I rang someone before and she couldn't understand me LOL.

K is getting much better with his commando crawling. When he wants something there is no stopping him! He doesn't do it much though, he's happy to stay in the one area. He's also starting to push up onto his knees, he only lasts a second or two, but we're getting there! All my harrassing is paying off.

Viv - LOL @ your two weekend babies. I have three of them home today...

Rebecca - Men I tells ya :rolleyes:.

Julia - That's great Max is moving more, we'll have crawlers in no time! And yep, we'll be complaining when it happens lol. Sorry you're having "issues" with your DH, it sucks :hug:.

Sick days-As defined in the Rebecca dictionary: Days that I take off PAID work to do work around the home without DH adding to the mess during that said day off. I cleaned the entire kitched from top to bottom during the day yesterday (only took 5 hours!) and DH comes home, mentions how nice it looks all nice and clean. I happen to state that I would like to keep it that way. I walk outside to hang out some washing during which DH decides to make a sandwhich. I come back in to see the cutting board covered in crumbs and tomato sauce, a knife dirty on the board and cheese all over the place. Oh and the tomato sauce left on the bench instead of in the cupboard!! ARRGGHH is it REALLY too much to ask!!
Sorry - big vent!! Am getting really really down on the weekends!! Sorry guys!

I hear you MO, I found my second pregnancy that bit harder as you have a littly already to run around after, but on the bright side, the pregnancy seems to fly and before you know it you are welcoming your new addition into the world. It probably doesnt feel like that right now for you though :(

Like you Bec we had the big clean up yesterday and you cant tell today. It never ends. I feel like I am employed as a clothes washer, clothes dryer and clothes putter away. As between us and the girls I am washing everyday! :wall: It just doesnt end.

I hear ya on the washing & with this cold weather it all has to dry inside which takes ages!
Your right definitely doesn't feel like that right now.

i agree second pregnancies seems to go by faster because your so busy running around after one its even easy to forget you are pregnant at times! i did struggle with lifting Nixon in the 3rd tri though.
went for a nice walk on the esplanade down at conulla with the boys today. Only live 5min drive from it now but the first real time ive gone and done anything since moving because ive been unpacking/reno's getting done etc we are finally near the end of it all and can get back into normality.

and yeah unfortunatley it never ends the housework does it. ive just complated 3 loads of washing, folding and finally getting around to weeks worth of ironing. cleaned up all the bedrooms while the boys were asleep only for them to be pulling everything back out again!

Trish- us mums dont seem to get sick days either hey. If DH is sick god forbid he stayed home and did anything other than sleep or lay on the lounge. But when i am crook life still goes on!
evem on sunday we were both busy getting stuff done, sit down to have lunch and then he decided the day of being constructive was over and had a nanna nap on the lounge! it annoys me so much when i still keep on going as much as i'd love a siesta to it just never happens

I must say I do kind of enjoy listening to you having a crack at your messy DHs, and a moan at feeling like washing lady, but it only lasts a moment before i feel compelled to say - give it up!!!! I AM the only person who does the washing, the cleaning, the cooking, the waking and feeding baby, the working, the bills, the nappies, the child proofing, the home renos. But most importantly, at the end of a crappy day, my DOG whinges at me for not walking her. Just imagine being single for a moment. I'm sure some of you would joke that you'd prefer it sometimes - but you know what - when it all falls down, at least you have someone to blame and/or yell at! I sooooo wish wish it wasn't all my fault all the time!!!!!

I find that a really bizarre and random post coming from someone who is not really an active part of the thread......

I get that your life might be tough, but this is a place where anyone can whinge about whatever they like. Feel free to come and whinge more often if you like, but don't judge others for whinging about their tough times.

It's not a competition to find out who has it the toughest, this is supposed to be a supportive environment.

On an happy note our lil business is a finalist gain this year in the local business achiever awards! I am so proud of DH he works so hard and deserves so much recognition! So we have a award dinner on the 3rd october, its ****tail so i will be dressing up woohoo!

Better go sorry of i missed anyone. I am off to the races tomorrow so have to get my beauty sleep! hahaha yeah right!

I'm off to Townsville for a couple of days for a work conference. Leaving DH and bubs at home to fend for themselves. Hopefully L will be kind to DH overnight and let him get some sleep.

Things are going well here. L is teething again - #7 now. Still got a bit of a cough but other than that he is fine. Got a couple of bumps on his head from where he slipped over. These things happen so fast! DH was considering buying one of those baby helmets, before I talked him out of it.

Don't even get me started on the washing! What I don't get is how someone so small can create so much washing. I've been thinking about getting a tumble drier. I know they are huge energy wasters and really should just hang the clothes out - but I never seem to get to the bottom of the hamper.

How about Sunday coffee and cake? Everyone needs cake on a Sunday?!
I need to go the the logan hyper-massive-thingi to change over a travel cot that i bought online as it is faulty. But besides that i have no plans for Sunday.

Yeah - I'm free. Ur staying in the City? Logan is quite a drive. Do you have a car or do you need a lift? Logan is central for a few of the girls. So if we meet up at Logan I can always take you down there?

Apparently 'the pram warehouse' is down there and they do the online stuff from that store so i have to go there to exchange this thing over.

Trish Hope things are getting healthier your way. Breakthrough....Max did a bit of a backwards crawl today! OMG...he was so desperate to get back up onto his butt that he pushed and pushed and was pushing himself backwards whilst trying to get his knees under him. Exciting!
Mo Nausea is so yuck. I feel for you. I remember when I just wanted to curl up on my bed all day when I had it.

Uncle Amy Everyone has their own situation and issues to deal with in their life. Good on you for being a single mum. My DH works away a lot so I am left feeling like a single mum on and off a lot and it's hard work. When he is home though at times it just makes life seem harder! But you take your lot don't you! I wouldn't change it for the world. I don't have a husband to blame or yell at for things when they go wrong....I am as responsible for my actions whether I'm single or married. Oh...and I understand about the dog walking thing too! :)

Saffi Get the dryer! I only use mine in winter and it's in the shed! (makes me feel like I'm not an energy waster coz I can't see it!!) It is good to be able to see the bottom of the washing basket! HOw funny L and the doggy door!

I'm feeling slightly better today. Went to the GP yesterday and was told I have a virus, but he didn't want to give me AB's and I didn't want them either. I haven't been this sick in ages, I reckon us mum's rock, we somehow manage to keep going no matter how crap we feel!

K is going great with his commando-ing. He moves around everywhere, when he really wants something (like Joel's cup or that stoopid balloon) he is like lightening. He's obsessed with doors and making them swing back and forth. He's also a major sock-bandit, it's impossible to keep his socks on or anyone else's that are within pulling-off distance LOL.

Ange - Have fun in sunny QLD! I would LOVE to get away from this cold weather for a while. I've never met anyone who has been to as many wedding in a short space of time like you!

Ange - overnight its in single digits of about 4 - 5degrees and today its going to be about 20. I would normally be wearing jeans and a couple of layers including a jumper on top, but I am a bit of a woos. Definitely pack some bikinis but I'd also pack some warmer things as well. You Victorians cope better with the cold - so it may not be cold for you at all. Tends to get a bit windy up here as well which cools things down. Can't wait to hear how the OB went.
Rebecca - come in and be grumpy all you like.
Mo - at least you're staying positive. How many weeks are you now? When did the m/s stop for you last time?
