Kim - Glad to hear Chelsea had a great birthday. Of course she got spoilt, she is so adorable!
Kieran has been smiling lots lately and I finally got it on camera before so I have put it on my ticker. Awww...isn't he cute? (Not that I'm biased or anything).
-
w00t - go rhys! zzzzzz....
*bleary eyed*
if only someone round here would go back to long sleeps!
-
Kieran is gorgeous!! I have only managed to catch Rhys smiling on my mobile cause it is always the closest thing but I have put the camera on the side table next to my recliner ready for him now!! Lol
Viv - Yeah I can't complain about it cause I have a clean house now!! I bet that it was just a one off though cause he didn't sleep at all last night when we were shopping, he just spent the whole night looking round in his pram and smiling heaps at all the people commenting on his fat legs!! Lol...
-
Trish - That is a GORGEOUS photo Kieran!!! He is so bright! I can never get a photo of Tiera smiling cuz she get too intreaged with the camera lol. I will be working a lot less hrs which is lucky. I definately wouldn't work those hrs with a bub.
alz - He just had regular S26. I was lactose intollerant as a child and had soy milk. When Tiera was a week old she started to get sick and was having green poos (which they say thats a strong sign of illness in bubs) and it seemed to get worse after I had milk. So I was worried my drinking milk was going through my breast milk and making her sick (I thought she was lactose intollerant also) so I stopped drinkig cows milk. My point to all of this(lol)... I was told if babies have the intollerance or allergy, there is a high chance they will have the same prob with soy. Its definately worth a try but its something to keep in mind if it too plays up with your bub. Like I said before its all trial and error, but you'll find whats best and your bub will settle. Good luck to you with all of it, I hope it doesn't take long until you fing the right formular and I'd love to hear how you get on!

Hi All,
Happy things - Amara's SS arrived with instructions to open BEFORE Xmas!! So we did and it is beautiful! A gorgeous Xmas suit and bib and a Pink hat with Amara embroidred on it and a little stocking that says Baby's first Xmas. Thankyou SS!!! There is also a little box which we are saving for Xmas.
Amara weighs 4.9kg and is 60cm long!!! She has grown 5cm since last visit!!!!
Sad things - a friend of mine had twins at 29 weeks. All was well until one got an infection and she dies suddenly yesterday. The staff at the hospital say they have never seen anything like it before. I am a bit in shock and disbelief. I cannot imagine what they are going through and have no idea what to say. I just start crying when I think about it.
It is a terrible situation because you want to be happy for the birth of the surviving twin but she is surrounded by so much sadness already.
I want to get them a gift for both twins - any ideas on something as a keepsake for the lost twin???
Makes me realise how lucky I am.
-
Oh Leah thats awfull! I too can not imagine what they are going through! Arent we just so blessed to have healthy babies! Maybe you could get a little angel stature or something and have the babies name engraved on it? Maybe an angel charm or something, so they can keep it close to their hearts? Big hugs to you and your family!:hugs:
Brissy meet the 12th am I right? just tell me where and what time and Myles and I will be there!
Not much happening here! Trying to get my chrissy shopping done, when I get out! Myles is an angel sorry to brag but he is just so perfect! he hardly ever cries and is sleeping so well! He is talking more and more each day!I just want to eat him! Better not speak too soon he may turn into the devil!haha!:p
All you girls who are BF do you find you are hungry all the time? I feel like I am still eating soo much! No wonder I cant seem to shift these last 10 kgs! Ha! And with christmas coming I dont think I will stop eating! The bakery doesnt help either with all the yummy christmas treats DH is now making! ARGH I will be a oompa loompa forever!
I am going to try to not turn the computer on this weekend and do a big clean up.....who am i kidding I am addicted to BellyBelly so will probably speak to you all tomorrow...or later tonight!
Sweet dreams! xox
-
Pish - Thanks. I will keep that in mind. Ethan took 60mls of the soy formula (which is more than he would take of the normal one) and was very settled after. I know that is still not enough but I am hoping it will improve. At least this time he didn't scream when feeding. I will give it a couple of days to see.
-
Trish - that is a gorgeous photo - I caught Tahlia on the video camera smiling the other day, but haven't yet captured it on the still camera... by the time I find it, she has stopped!
Leah - that is awful news... I agree with Boomba, some type of angel would be nice as a gift for the twin
Alz - glad to hear your little one was more settled after the soy formula
We had to go back to the docs today, they think Tahlias belly button may be infected based on the
1st swab, although when the doc saw it today she thought it seemed ok, we'll get the results on Monday.
Facebook Users - I've also just created a facebook profile - my user name is kellie delaney, so feel free to add me to your list!
-
Thanks ladies...
Forgot to say in answer to Catherine - no I don't have FB, I have no idea about stuff like that. I have no idea how you guys share pics etc, I am a techno idiot!
-
i know this has been talked about before, but what is the formula for figuring out how much EBM is required for a feed? Is it 150ml per kilo divided by the number of feeds in a day?
-
Leah that is so sad, i also agree with Amber with the angel idea.
On happier note just want to say we got our SS pressie, Huge thanks to "The Most Secret of Santa's" lol
I was even a good girl & didn't open it :D
-
hey ladies, hope you are al well
amber- and the rest of the brisbane girls... 11/12/07 at garden city.
How bout we do lunch this time???
-
Leah thats so sad to hear, wishing you and your friend and families all the best. An angel is a nice gift, or perhaps you could plant two trees or two rose bushes or something like that in memory?
Amber - I reckon I've got a smaller appetite and I'm BF, i think its all the water i'm drinking!
Gotta go, the girl is calling...gggggrrrrrr she should be sleeping.....
-
Lunch sounds great, kate! We just have to decide on a place in garden city now! Maybe we should just meet then decide?x
-
Kellied - That's the correct way to calculate approximately how much bub needs each feed. YAY - another FB friend!!
LM - I am so very sorry to hear about your friends loss... that is so so very sad! I really have no idea on trinkets.. I'm not very creative with gifts, that's why I skipped the SS because I suck at that kind of thing. In regards to FB - It's so user friendly... SO easy!! It's great, because I just go to my friends list and see who's updated photo's and go check out their little cute squirts! If you decide to join... you'll have many friends! :)
Amber - I am definately eating more than I was when I was pg even... and Daniel tells people it's a bloody lot! Much more thirsty and much more hungry...
Amelia - We are leaving on Sunday!
Vivienne - Might be around for another year yet by the time Daniel actually gets into gear with our back yard and when we finally sell this place... So your stuck with me for a bit longer yet I'm guessing.
Anyone elses bub go through a growth spurt around 5-6 weeks? Ro has been a royal **** today... Didn't want to hop off the breast and had cat naps (15-20mins) all day to awake to wanting to go straight back on the breast. Slept the last few hours though thankfully! :)
Went to nappy palace today and picked up four boxes of huggies nappies. The deal was, $40.95 for a box of 100, then $2 off for the second box, then $3 off the third box, then $4 off the fourth box and if I was to get a fifth box it would be $5 off that box etc. and if she out grows those nappies, I can take any unopened boxes back and exchange them for the next size up. Plus they have cartons of wipes - you know the refill packs? Works out $13 a pack, normal prices is $14.95. Daniel said it wasn't much of a saving and didn't know why I bothered... I was happy with the saving!lol
ETA - Question - It's really for the BF'd bubs, but it would be interesting to know the FF bubs too... How much weight is are your bubs putting on a week? Ro has put on more than a kilo in four weeks.
-
Hey all.
Cathreine - I dont have face book but Im about to set one up so I'll def add you then! And Chels was 3.4kg when she was born, but she is now 5kg. So thats 1.6kg in 6 weeks. Not sure what it is a week though.
Leah - I am so sorry to hear about your friends twin. Are they going to have a little service or something? What did they name them? Poor things, there must be nothing worse in all the world.
11/12 is good for me re: the Brissy meet up. Im happy for either coffee or lunch. Oh, and I'll prob only bring Chels. Liam is a bit of a ratbag at the mo, and I dont feel like chasing him through the shops as I feed Chels. LOL'
-
Wow Amara has had a serious growth spurt Leah! 5cm since last visit and how long ago was that?
Tyron has grown 5cm since birth i can def notice how much bigger he is now!
Thats terrible news about your friends twins. One of my gf has twins (both living) but she has this gorgeous necklace that is twin babies like in a womb.... i have no idea how much it cost, but she is on BB (btm2506) she has an online shop for twins stuff so maybe you could pm her and see i she has anything suitable?
Well as you know Tyron is getting BF but for 4weeks it wasnt just not from me and in a bottle, and he put on 1.1kg in 6weeks. and its quiet normal for them to go through a growth spurt about 5-6weeks, i rekon Tyron did go through it last week. and all of a sudden he is noticably bigger!
-
Wow guys - we made it to page 13!! LOL
-
oh and i meant to say Kieran is gorgeous Trish i love that pic!
Tyron has been smiling for about a week nw but i still havent managed to get it on camera!
-
prolly just decide when we get there again... as viv says, anywhere that wont call the cops on the tough off street stroller gang. are we going to meet outside the cinemas again? at 11.30am???
-
-
Brissy meet up - 11.30am on Tuesday 11/12 is good with me. Meet outside the cinemas at Garden City and go from there.
Went grocery shopping but poor L was so overtired that he screamed the entire time. Poor DH was aisles behind me and I could still hear L screaming. Before we went home I had to BF L in the carpark (parents room was closed by the time we finished shopping). But on the upside he was very easy to put to bed and didn't cry or fuss or anything.
Put L's name down at another 3 childcare centres today, and need to fill out forms for another 3. This will make 12 places that we will have our names down for. Not taking any chances that we'll not get a place somewhere. Got all bases covered - places near home, places in the City - where I work, and places near where DH works. Hopefully we will get somewhere near home or DH as the ones in the City are up to $80/day!!!!! I'm due to go back to work at the start of May. Anyone else already making queries re childcare?
-
Night all!
I'm beyond exhausted - I'm in zombie land. I need to get to bed earlier!
Face book - KateP I've added you, and Kellie; I think I've added you!
Amber - I have a huge appetite - the thing about bf though is that I'm suddenly starving rather than a slow build up to hungry iykwim?
Nic - great weight loss! you'll look fab for the wedding!
-
ARG!... too many pages to read and catch-up and way too tired :(... we finally finished our little courtyard out the back today, we started while I was preg, but ran out of oomph - so didn't get finished... looks great :)!
Saffi - I have been meaning to go enquire about hiw long the waiting list is at our local day care and get Kaylee's name down for a couple of days a week next year... I don't have a job to go back to, and have no idea what I'm going to do work wise or if I'll go back to studying, but figure it is a good idea to get her name down as I would like to do something next year. AND we could certainly use the extra $$ of me working a few days a week!!
Someone was looking for flushable liners several pages ago - Nuture Nappies have some!
-
Morning ladies,
Face book - I have had it for sometime now and is all set up, but I have a qu... To search for people you have to have their surnames, right??? If so with your surnames, I can add you or you can search me, Tiffany Kingsmill.
Leah - I am so sorry to hear about your friends baby. It really does make you realise how lucky we are! I can't be of any help with what to buy as i wouldn't have a clue.
Catherine - Tiera was 3.4kg born and is now 3.78, but did get sick so thats why she lost more weight after birth than normal.
alz - I'm so happy to hear your little is more settled. I'm sure the intake will increase in no time!
Saffi - Have you looked into homebased care near your house or work. Its usually a LOT cheaper and so much more personalised. Just a thought, I know child care these days is so expensive, you find yourself working just to pay for it! I hope L gets into some where lovely!
Antinatal reunion this morning, can't wait. Will let you know how we went when we get home. Have a great day all! :p
-
Morning everyone,
Still very sad today. Have been thinking all night about what to send them. I also don't want to forget the husband in all this. Thanks Nic I have PM'd your friend.
Amara went from 4.2 to 4.9 kg in 3.5 weeks. Eliza was 5kg at 12 weeks LOL!
Re - FB. My DH has one request with my forums etc and that is no photos of the kids on the net. I respect his wishes so FB would probably not be for us?
Have a good day all,
-
u can control who sees your photos on facebook br giving limited access to people u don't knowor trust. it's not just open posting like forums. (tho i get where he's coming from)
eta: can u tell i'm typing one-handed while jj hangs off boob?
-
lm - that is so sad about the 29w twins. can't imagine the pain of losing a baby. even when they're naughty screamers.
catherine - heh. good. stay.
did i mention the boy has cracked 6kg and is taking my neck/spine to hell?
still he smiles at me when i go to fetch him from bed so all is forgiven.
signed
hunchback - hunchy to my friends
-
Tiff - I had rung about family day care. In the surrounding suburbs where I live there are only 2 family daycare providers and I am told they are very selective about the days they work. Haven't enquired about options near where DH works yet. I agree with how expensive centre based daycare is. Unfortunately don't have a choice about returning to work.
Viv - most of my posts are done single handed. I tend to look at BB when I am BF. DH likes the look of the Grobag Egg so we are going out to get one of those.
Leah - so sad about your friend's baby. IMO the best thing you can give them is love and support as they will need it both now with the remaining twin which I guess will be in the NICU, and in the months afterwards as they grieve. But like the idea of some momento too.
L slept from 7.30pm to 3am!!!! He was so tired from shopping etc. Unfortunately he was then up until almost 5am, and then from about 6.30. We did both then sleep until almost 11 so I have caught up on some of my beauty sleep. Trish, finally got around to reading about Parent Directed Feeding. I think I might give it a go. L proves he can sleep long periods, its now just directing it to a more parent friendly period.
L is in his bouncer doing explosive poos so better change his nappy and get him ready for his next nap.
-
:confetti: explosive poos :confetti:
-
Hi everyone!
Leah - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's twin, it is just so sad. You are a great friend trying to think of a way to commemorate their angel. On a happier note, well done on Amara's weight gain!
Boomba - You sound so in love with Myles, it's so cute! Did you get any Christmas shopping done? I haven't even started yet!
Alz - How are you going with the soy formula today?
Kellie - Hope there is nothing wrong with Tahlia's belly button. I'm sure it's pretty rare for them to get infected.
Catherine - How is Rochelle treating you today? Still wanting to feed non-stop? I'm not looking forward to the first growth spurt! How are you going with BF'ing this week?
Nickers - That's awesome that Tyron has grown 5cm since birth! You are doing a great job feeding that boy. Are you having better luck with the BF'ing the last couple of days?
Peta - Yay for finishing your courtyard! It's a great feeling to get a big job finished. Enjoy sitting out there!
Tiff - Hope you had fun at the antenatal reunion!
Viv - Wow, 6kg, what a great weight! Your poor back though! I'm used to carrying around my oldest DS (when he is sooky) who is 15kg so Kieran feels like I'm holding nothing.
Saffi - Good luck with the PDF, let us know if you have success. Kieran does his 5 hour stint between his 9pm and 2am feeds, then sleeps for another 4 usually which is nice. Sometimes he will go straight to sleep after that feed too! I love those explosive poos, there is something so satisfying when you hear them! I just don't love them when his nappy is off, like yesterday...
Hi to all I've missed, I've tried to cram in everyone!
We went out for brekky this morning, we walked to a local cafe and Kieran slept the whole time. It is so nice to have a baby who sleeps in his pram! Joel NEVER slept in his, he would just scream so we could never do a lot unless we wore him in a sling. It was so nice to get out of the house and we ran into lots of people who all got to admire our latest addition. We live in such a friendly neighbourhood where all the neighbours know each other so it is very social when you go to the local shops.
Re: the smiling photo - it was actually the first time I tried to capture it so it was a fluke that I caught it first go! I had the camera nearby in case he started smiling. He gave his daddy lots of smiles this morning, DH hasn't really seen him do it yet so that made him happy.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend! I wonder when they'll close this thread???
-
Trish - cute photo of Kieran smiling. Congrats Kieran on being 1 month!
-
Thanks Saffi, I can't believe it has been 1 month already!!
-
Hey guys I ljust made a FB account too - although I must admit I have no idea what I am doing! How do you get so many cool things on your page?? LOL
Wow! 10 minutes to myself at the moment! Liam just went to sleep and I think Chels has just dropped off to! Yippee!!!! Silence! Think I might go have a nap myself........
-
i swear he hears my head hit the pillow then... waaah.
ques. what is up with nappies. we moved up to infant size without problems but suddenly we've had leaks again. he's 2kg within the size, but could technically fit crawler... do i need to change again?
this is why he's back to short sleeps - wakes up wet and cold... whammo. no sleep for moommy
-
Saffi - Its a dummer you hqave to go back to work. I too have to go back to work the week after next. I too don't have any choice. With any luck you'll find a good family day carer, but I'm sure L will be happy where ever he goes.
Trish - Your so sweet, you always try to include everyone! I always find by the time I've read everything I have forgotton what I was going to say to each person. I* even have to write things down as I go along sometimes!
NT - Tiera is still in new born nappies, but occationally I too have the prob with things running out the top of the nappy when she is laying down. I think the prob is a change her when she has get a full belly, then when her belly goes down her nappy is loose and drips back. hmmm dunno! :)
Antinatal reunion was fantastic! It was great seeing everyones bubs. Everyone is doing so well! I organised to have regular meet ups with everyone which will be great. Most of the people are in one area, they will just be two of us travelling to them. We own another Tourist park out where they all are, so we are going to meet up there for morning tea once a month and may start to make it fortnightly if all goes well!
Tiera had her last dose of Vit K this afternoon at the hospital. The midwife said it was nice to see an 'older' baby for once! lol Tiera wouldn't stop smiling while we were there, that was until she was given the medicine.... I don't think she liked the taste!!! lol Cute little bub she is. :p
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend
-
Well had a Dr's appt this morning for my scar to get re-dressed cause of the split in it and while we were there we weighed Rhys and he is 6.9kgs!!! ****, he is a tank. He was only 5.2kgs 3 weeks ago!! I think it was all put on last weekend though and the past 2 days cause he has been so clingy and wanting to feed all day but then sleeps all night!! Like Thursday night he slept 10:15 to 6am and then last night he slept 8:15 to 4am!! Can't complain....I just get nothing done during the day cause he is hanging from me tit all day!! Lol...
Catherine - Have a good time at your parents and I hope that Ro is good for you on the trip there!!
Viv - Rhys is in the Infant size and the first week he wore them I was changing his cradle sheets everyday but now we are good!! I was thinking of getting a box of crawlers next week and measuring them to see how much of a difference there is!!
My question for the day....(Not trying to cause a debate here either, just asking a general question!!) To those of you who had boys, are you getting them circumcised??
Us personally, we are getting Rhys done in February once the heat of the QLD summer has died down. I left it up to DH and he is done and he wants Rhys done. His main thought was when he is like 4 or 5 and he has a shower with him and asked why does his look different, how do you explain that to a 4 or 5 year old!! And I totally agree with him.
-
amelia... sweet merciful carp! 6.9kg. how u carrying him in that sling, girl? i swear i'm taking panadol by 4pm to deal with the back pain from lugging mr pants around.
re: the circ
we had thought we would get him done. dh had wanted him done, then when he was born we realised two things... 1) he is absolutely perfect as he is and how could we cut what we've just created; and 2) he needs to decide for himself later on (when it's more relevant) whether he wants it done. so for now, the answer is no.
he is such an angel (mostly) i just couldn't put him through that - and we don't have any religious reasons for doing it either.
is it full moon today? jj has been a weirdo all day. he has done 1 hour sleeps (some wrecked by leaks) and has fought sleep valiantly since 2pm. the kid is beside himself with exhaustion and had a huge scream. a bit of tit and i think he's falling asleep, as soon as his head his the cot... awake again, looking at everything, exhausting himself more.
he is so strange when he does this. i wonder whether he senses my unrest and it makes him worse.
anybody else got a non-sleeper today???
-
Got a major non sleeper here today, i am pulling my hair out, the girls are fighting, Dh has gone out drinking and god knows when he is getting back - he took the swag! I have just had a cry and will have another soon. I am so tired. I need a break form everyone at the moment, everybody has pushed me beyond believe this week. I am really starting to feel depressed.
Sorry to go on like that
Bec
-
Yep, a terrible sleeper today too. Kieran needs to be settled pretty much non-stop, very frustrating!
Bec - You poor love, you are having a horrible day. You sound like how I was feeling yesterday. I was a wreck and completely over it and DH didn't get home until 8:30pm when I really needed him home hours earlier. Have a cry and remember tomorrow is a new day.
