I feel much the same as you Kate when it comes to my DH. I am so lucky to have so much help and support from him. I love to sit and watch him with Tiera. Sometimes I feel bad if I have to tell him how to do something or if I have to nag him about being rough with her especially after she's fed, but luckily most of the time he doesn't mind. I also feel guilty we haven't DTD and dont want to for another couple of weeks until I've had my 6 week check.
Claire - I only pushed 3 to 5 times, I really don't think it was 5 times... but I only had to push her head out and pant through the rest... IDK, maybe it's just all the pressure?
Viv - I think I have expressed many times how friggen much Ro ROCKS and how much I love being a Mum! :) I too have an obsession with sniffing her head...
Nic - I posted a comment on that photo of who was who. :)
Viv - re wipes. My kids are failrly sensitive to and I use cloth wipes. I biught the really fine baby terry washers from Big W and I keep them dampened with water in an old huggies container. I was them with the nappies but you could do them in the machine. Just add a bit of disinfectant in the rinse cycle, its just baby poop :)
I don't have any probs with redness and crying when geting wiped any more.

Hi everyone. This is my first time on belly belly. I am looking for someone to talk to about baby stuff. My little Ethan was born on the 15th Oct 2007. He has just turned 6 weeks which is incredible. Feeling lonely and unsure as my hubby went back to work last week. Ethan is a difficult bub. He has reflux and just started meds this week. We are bottle feeding as I couldn't breast feed and he wont drink a lot which stresses me out. We are trying the self settling technique which doesn't help when he is feeling sick. The doc told me not to pick him up. He is just testing me. It breaks my heart to hear him cry. Any suggestions?
Saffi - My DH is an apprentice heavy road vehicle mechanic. There is just so much work out here to do that he works FOREVER!!! Plus being an apprentice - he is almost like a slave!
To the questions that were put - my feelings towards my baby. Right now they are great (she is asleep FINALLY!) There have been days, I admit, where I wish I could send her back where she came from. These are the days that I dont cope very well with such a clingy baby.
How do I feel about DH? I love him with all my heart but keep thinking how lucky he is to go to work and away from this baby that cries most of the time. Sometimes I get frustrated (?With him?? with myself??) cause things are getting done around the house that he could be helping me with, but as my mum said.....the dishes will still be there in the morning!
My 6 week check up went ok. Everything is normal. Dr is a bit worried about me being a bit depressed (as I have no support out here and such a clingy baby) and is going to talk to me when Caitlyn has her shots on the 17th. I have the best Dr in the world I think.
Gosh - all these short labours!! I thought (after listening to other people) that 13 hours was short! Must admit I thought 2nd stage was short but they tell me that the reason I had vacuum was because of prolonged 2nd stage - IDK!
Anyway little miss is sleeping a bit - 3 hours now all day - so I have a chance to get things done.
Alz - We suspected reflux in my little one (we were VERY lucky that it wasnt!) but I can understand where you are coming from a little. I have a very clingy baby who cries if she is not being held or carried. By not drinking alot what do you mean? ONly takes a small bottle? or only a few times a day? It all depends on how much he is drinking over a 24 hr period. I was stressing cause my bub only took 80 mls at some feeds but after keeping a diary I realised that she was drinking sufficient. They say as long as bubs is gaining weight then they are getting enough.
My little ones cries a lot when put in her crib. Its all just a matter of timing when we get her in there. Did the Dr suggest elevating the head of the crib a little. We did this even though bub doesnt have reflux and she settles quicker now.
My only advice to you is that you have to figure out what works for bub best and go with that. I now keep a journal of what she has done during the day and how happy she was with this and that and (cause I have a bit of baby brain), I look over it every couple of days and try something again. You just never know what is going to work.
All the ladies on here are lovely and everyone will be supportive of you. Keep your chin up!
Just saw your other post. I read a little about Nan HA and see that it is not really an "anti reflux" formula in that it is not thickened jsut easier to digest. Are you using a thickener as well? Maybe try one of the AR formulas? I dont know - I'm not a Dr. I went and talked to my pharmacist when I suspected Reflux and he gave us a whole range of things to try - but as I said I was lucky - no reflux, just a guts!
welcome alz - I know exactly what you mean about letting him cry, I can't help myself with my Tahlia and I pick her up after about 1 minute. Hopefully the meds will help Ethan and you will feel much better.
Nickers - Tyron looks a little yellow to me, but as the others have said, if you hadn't said anything I probably wouldn't have noticed. Hope it gets sorted out for you soon
How I feel about DD - sometimes I get a bit frustrated when I don't know why she is crying, but then she looks up at me with her big eyes or has a little smile, and I realise how much I love her, and how lucky I am to have her. Everyone tells me how she is such a good baby, but then when its just the 2of us and she is screaming, I don't know whether to believe them or not!
Tahlia has had a fairly good day today, slept pretty well, hopefully that continues tonight! I can't believe she is 4 weeks old already!
Welcome alz! You just have to do what you feel is right! If you want to pick him up and cuddle him then do it! Babies need lots of love from their mummies! Babies also dont really know how to whinge yet, they only cry if something is wrong, hungry tired or hot cold! You might like to try a product called mariners infant mixture for his relfux. My SIL has used it on both her boys and it has worked wonders! But at the end of the day you have to do what feels right, dont worry what other people say just go with your instinct!:) Look forward to getting to know you!

Each day im thankful to have such a great hubby....only downside....we have been fighting alot more cos both so tired and the kids are full on. But love him to death no matter what.

Maddison was/is one of those clingy babies, but after changing her formula she has been so much more happier likes she's a new baby.
She'll sleep in her cot during the day & most nights now, She's plays on her play-mat etc..
I love her to bits & can't imagine my life without her but having a clingy baby can really take it out of you, it can be very hard sometimes.
I love Phil but wish he would help more with Maddi, but when you have a clingy baby who only wants Mummy there is not much he can do.

Had a great time at the Bris/GC catch-up ladies - was lovely to meet everyone and be freely allowed to talk baby stuff!! Weren't all the babies so well behaved? I thought for sure Mateo would give a good scream as that is all he seems to be doing for the past week! :-)
Viv - Mateo is not an easy baby, but to be honest I don't really care - I love him to death and am also a head-sniffer-addict!! I also kiss his beautiful curly lips all day!
Went to the nurse today - Mateo now weighs 4.78kg! Yey for him! Also told her he cries a lot and is really colicy so am off to the docs tomorrow to get a script for some baby Mylanta - I really hopes that helps as the poor little bugger is in so much discomfort with his belly. Went to a post-natal app at the hospital today and learnt some baby massage. This arvey Mateo woke with belly pain so I put him on the change table and massaged him - he farted heaps, pooped and then fell back to sleep while I was still massaging. So good to have a little trick up my sleeve other than the boob!!
Trish - Think you are doing a bloody marvellous job with your two boys - and let yourself have a cry, it's good for the soul. Can't help but chuckle over Joel's go to sleep and wake-up routine - can't be much fun when you're trying to sleep, but for an outsider - very cute and amusing!!
Nickers - Hope Tyron is ok with his jaundice.
Welcome Alz - I am with Boomba - pick up your bub if that's what you want to do. Mateo is also in a lot of discomfort and I never let him scream on his own - he screams on me and I comfort feed him also. Mind you in saying that, when I need a break I let him have a little cry on his own sometimes but not to the point where he is in a state. Don't let anyone tell you what to do - do what feels right for you and your baby.
Old lard ar$e Falguni weighs 5.1kg!!! from 2.6kg to 5.1 in 8 weeks, what a piglet.
Mothers group was not nearly as bad as i imagined. Infact the girls were lovely. Going pram walking next week with a couple of them.
How do i feel about Lu? Thats a hard one, sometimes i just want to eat her because i she is just sooo cute, sometimes she frustrates me, sometimes i resent her (Am i allowed to admit that? its usually only at 3am and it doesn't last long.) but generally i just love her. Even when she craps on me.
I also feel very protective of her.
How do i feel about DH? Well that also varies depending on the amount of sleep i have had...... sometimes i feel the strain but mostly we get on just fine. Often i find he doesn't understand the physical demands of having to feed a baby every 3 hours and everything that goes with it. This is frustrating. Feeling bad for him as still havn't got back in the saddle so to speak. So dang tired by the time i get into bed i just cant be bothered, when i'm up for it it tends to be the middle of the day in a shopping centre or something?! :doh: maybe tonight i'll make the effort!

Viv- just a hot tip if you are using water and facewashers, a spray bottle filled with water is great if you don't have a sink near by....
Ange - It wouldn't take me 2 hours, but it would be over 1 hour I think. I'm not North though, I'm actually west, in Tarneit which is near Hoppers Crossing

Star - Thanks for the sweet comments! I suppose Joel's antics do seem funny to other people, but not so funny to sleep deprived me! We ordered some block out blinds for his room to keep it dark in the mornings (his room lights right up at the crack of dawn), I picked them up today, now just need DH to put them up. Hope it works!
Alz - Welcome! Sorry to hear your bub has reflux. I agree with the other girls, if you want to pick Ethan up to comfort him then do it! I don't think babies know how to test you at this early age. I know how hard it is to hear your bub scream in discomfort (my first DS was very unsettled) and it is so upsetting. Have you tried a baby hammock? I used one for my DS and it was my saving grace. He loved the motion so I would bounce him off to sleep in it and he slept so well in it. Hammocks are great for reflux babies because of the position it puts them in. I hope the meds give you both some peace.
Viv - You ask great questions! I love Kieran to bits, even when he is unsettled or wakes me at 2am to feed him! It is amazing how much more I enjoy him compared to the first time around with Joel when I was clueless and stressed out.

I bled for around 3 weeks after the birth & AF still hasn't arrived, i keep thinking it will be here anyday now.
My labour was 17hours & 10mins, it was also drug & tear free likes Catherine's.
My sister had quick labour's with her 4 kids the longest was 4 hours, guess i lucked out in that department.
Man we arent leaving until 11 pm now!!!
Both both girls are fast asleep so thats a bonus!!
Ill be at the meetup...provided i dont forget!!
Bleeding stopped about 3 weeks later.
Chelsea's labour was 10 hours 25 mins, gas and 1 2nd degree tear
Jasmines labour was 6 hours 14 mins, gad and 1 1st degree tear
i'll be there.
I'll try my hardest to come, but not sure how I'll go co-ordinating the two boys and trying to keep Joel with me. I really would love to meet you all!

Re the Liners I was trying to get flushables not washables. I make my own washable ones from microfleece as it gives the stay dry feel to bub's bum but lets the wee through.
Trish - I hear you about 2 kids being very different to having 1. I am getting better at it but its not pretty sometimes here either :)
Peta - WOW your Mum rocks. Over night already!!! I am BF but even if I wasn't I am sure Mum would not cope overnight LOL. Eliza has been away from us once and that was when Amara was born!
Pish - with Eliza I bled for 10 weeks!!! This time only about 6 from begining to end.
Rebecca - I think the startle reflex lasts until about 12 weeks.
alz - hi and welcome. I agree with Boomba and others, pick him up :D They are so little and they are not controlling you. The only thing they can do to communicate is cry poor little things. He prolly just wants his mummy's cuddles.
Viv's Q of the day - I am totally in love with Amara, just as much as Eliza. They each have an unlimited love bank :)
DH - he is great, very helpful and involved with his princesses. He took 5 weeks off work for us this time - how great is he!!
OK - I am asking here first...I have a few boys clothes that I would like to give away. A couple of 00 suits that may be useful for next March-April??? and some socks. They are nice ones and the socks are new. Just PM me if you want them boy mummies :)

How are you all doing? Thought i would pop in and catch up with you guys.
Things here are ok.. I'm lucky that i'm finding it 700 times easier the 2nd time around, although it could be because DS was pure hell at sleeping for 6 months, and i had a lot of other problems (like everything under the sun), that everything seems so much easier in comparison... But seriously, feeding & sleeping are going great this time around.
Nechama has a slight unsettled period in the evenings, but she is usually pretty good and its normally only if she got dragged around in the afternoon and missed a sleep. We co-sleep (at nights) which is going great (did it with my son, actually he was great a nights from the beginning, it was the day that was the problem), but she is ok at sleeping in her co-sleeping basinette thing on my bed by herself during the day. I think not being uptight about sleeping is helping a lot.
I'm just finding the general challenge is looking after a very active toddler who can't be trusted for a few mins on his own (he isn't naughty, just inquisitve.. a little too much!), and he wants me to play a lot, which is hard when i'm trying to feed etc. And i'm finding it saps my energy looking after the 2. Suprinsingly, i don't feel so sleep deprived this time around - maybe i'm just used to it (although DS has been sleeping through for almost a year now).
A lot of my physical problems (prolapse, fissure etc), have come back, so i'm finding that a bit hard.. And not getting my support from either sides of our family, so feeling a bit let down by everyone at the moment.
DH went back to work after having this year off, so its a big adjustment not having him around 24/7, although its probably a good thing because we are getting in more of a normal routine now because of it. And having money again is nice!
Anyway, i better run, Nechama is waking up for a feed...
Sorry about no personals, i can't read through 7 threads, but i hope you are all going well, and getting support for whatever problems you might have encountered! I think that was my mistake with DS, leaving almost every issue (feeding, sleeping, my recovery), so long until i basically couldn't cope, just telling myself things would get better..

OMG GUYS!!! I was only on last night but 4 pages have been added since then. I kept thinking of things to write as I went, but now I have forgotten everything!!
Questions - I am so in love with my babies! Its amazing, everyone wonders how you can possibly have enough love for a second baby, and everyone tells you that you just do, but gos they are right! I was so worried I wouldnt love this baby enough, or I would love Liam less etc, but its not true! You just get more and more in love with them every minute! I would do anything for my babies! Brings a tear to my eyes just to watch them. Especially the times when Liam runs up to CHels, saying "kiss! Kiss!" and leans over to kiss her (which is about 1000 times a day). They are beautiful! And more in love with DH than evr too! I am so lucky he is so supportive. And he helps me so much around the house etc. He's great!

To all you ladies who are bottle feeding - Has your milk dried up?? Mine still hasnt! Its not a lot but god its frustrating! Still have to wear breast pads etc! How much longer?????
I am dying to meet all you guys now!! Can we arrange another meet ups soon?? Is everyone busy now until XMAS or do you think we could make another date in a few weeks?
One more question - What are you going to teach your kids to call their genitals?? We are coming to the point when we need to teach DS the names. Eventually I want him to know their proper names (Vagina and Penis) but for now, he calls himself a willy, but not sure what I should teach him to say for girls. What do you reckon?

Thought I'd pop in to say hello. Been in hospital started haemoraging badly and was anemic. Just woke up got home this arvo. Was in the shower and looked down and had blood pouring everywhere and was standing in it was saturating a pad every 30minutes. Had a D&C still bleeding but its not as bad so hoping it's fixed it all. Had another infection as well so was on even more antibiotics fun times. Little man is doing well had a big pooping session today so was supposedly cranky all morning but I wasn't here for it and has been an angel since his mass evacuation. Currenly he's been asleep for 4 hours if I hadnt been asleep all day I'd be making the most ofthis hoping he sleeps through till 3 before wanting some yum yums.
How goes everyone? Hope all is well, flicked through the posts sorry to hear Joels giving you hell Trish, and yes if I can't figure out whats wrong with Ryan I let him cry for a bit too Kim, usually I find putting him on his tummy and rubbing his back puts him to sleep has a little reflux sometimes i think and will eventually burp or give a little chuck/dribble and go to sleep. Grats on her hips improving they are remarkable things I'm hoping Ryans leg starts to un-bow soon.

Qhi - Yeah, Ro's little red lines have gone from her eyes too now - But it took awhile! Noice work on the pushing! I was a little bit miffed after I pushed the little heffa out how on earth some women are 'pushing' for yonks? It was a matter of minutes for me too *shrugs*. I don't bother to tell people how short my labor was now, because I get rude looks and remarks like, 'WHAT??? Catherine had a 3 hour first labor and a 9lb baby!!!'... and then you get the disrespectful ones who make it sound like I didn't even give birth... Of course I didn't feel pain and EVERYONE else had a worse and much more painful labor than me! I actually asked Daniel if I was loose you know where before... I'm sure that's what everyone thinks, seeing as most of them think she just fell out.
Becky - I think some of the girls were keen to catch up next week... I'll just stay posted and keep an eye out for time and day and see if I can make it! Would be great to see this mysterious Becky! :)
When I talk to Rochelle, I call 'it' her winkie... But we aren't prudes and will make sure she is aware that it's a vagina.

Had a pretty good night last night. The last two nights we have used bribery to get Joel to be quiet and it seems to be working! I have been a bit more relaxed about things because I realised there is no point getting worked up and stressing myself out. I ended up having a much happier day yesterday and Joel was much better behaved because his mum wasn't so cranky!
Some good news is I get a new car in December! I was meant to get it in February, but it has been moved forward. What a great Christmas pressie!
Ange - Maybe between us all we can keep Joel contained!

My sister's little girl calls it her 'gina', pronounced as you would say va-gina (i.e not like you would say the girls name Gina) She is 3 and told me the other day that because she didn't wee when she needed to she hurt her 'gina and it got sad, so now she has to be good and look after her 'gina so it doesn't hurt. SO CUTE! ....
Hope everyone has a good day - mine was getting off to a good start early when Hayley was still asleep at 7.30 but alas the delivery man came and rang the doorbell three times in a row (WHY??? How are you possibly meant to get there after 1 second??) So then the dog barked which roused Hayley and hence I was up! Was a good delivery though, 3 pks of Huggies courtesy of Kimberly clark - I got a dodgy box of nappies where the leak guard wasn't right, sent an email complaint and they sent me the new ones!
Off to the baby clinic this afternoon - i'm predicting a good weight gain in the last week because she just seems to be so much bigger this last week!
Oh and YES I love her to bits - even when she wees/poohs/vomits on her gorgeous clean outfit just before we need to go out :)
Thanks for the support everyone. I am trying to do what I think is right but it is hard when the doc tells you something. I guess I figure she is the doctor and knows what she is talking about.
Ethan is a bit happier today. Not sleeping well this morning but is still happier. Thank goodness.
Cath- PMSL i can't believe you actually asked Danny that. There is no way the "tightness" of your vagina would effect the length of your labour. People are so damn judgemental, i have heard that fast and furious labours have their own disadvantages; No time to ease into the pain, your body can go into shock, can have risks for baby too. Tell people she came via stork, that'll keep em guessing. ;)

The dr I took my first DS to was hopeless about babies and she had two children of her own! She didn't believe me that a chiropractor could fix his shoulder (the chiro DID fix it, my boy was much more settled)! Hope you have a better day today.

Morning everyone - hugs to absolutely everyone!!! We had a FANTASTIC night last night!! Caitlyn decided to have a sleep from 8 until 1 and then 145 until 430. She woke again at 530 but a cuddle and into bed with me and we both slept until 8!!! Woohoo!!! I have no doubt that means she will be harder than usual to please today but at least with some sleep I will have more patience!!
Celtic - sorry to hear about your hospilisation! Not good. Hope you are feeling much better now!
Caitlyn now weighs 4.53 kg - up from 3.18 at birth. Yay!!!

Kate - Woot on the nappies! One of the girls at a mother's group i'm apart of yesterday told me about somewhere where you can buy mass bulk of huggies nappies for MUCH cheaper... So i'm going to look into that. I know it's stupid, but I don't know if I could handle cloth.

Catherine I get the same. I also had a 3 hour labour and was home 3 hours after that. I get the bulging eyes look and I am sure they think my "gina" is massive LOL!!!! They have no idea about how much I prepared for my birth physically and mentally and did heaps of research to choose the right care providers for me. I would rather my labour and birth any day to one in hospital with a doctor!
Re - nappies. Cloth is just as easy, actually easier at change time as you just drop the nappy in a bucket instead of having to go to the bin. And the modern cloth nappies are so darn cute, I am sure all themoney I save on buying sposies I spend on cute nappies and covers!! ROFL!
