ETA - Rebecca what swing did you get????? I'm thinking of purchasing one - the Fisher Price Power Swing cos it doens't need batteries
-
OMG Rebecca - I don't know how on earth you coped with a crying baby every night... She went down at 10 which is a bit later than usual and still woke up at 3.30 - so I probably could have had it alot worse! But god I was almost in tears because I've never had to go through that before! I admire you so much Rebecca for coping so well with it everynight! Horray for the swing, I've heard those things are worth there weight in gold ;)
ETA - Aww Ursula - sorry to hear you've had not such a great day! I'll Pm you those details now... I too am an ebay junkie...:D
-
Oh dear! Off to the Doc we go this afternoon. Caitlyn has a red eye! And shes sooky. Well....sookier than usual! Poor little thing!
Catherine - The only way I managed to cope was naps during the day - if she took one! It was all day and all night that she would cry! The ladies I work with came over every 2nd day and did a general tidy up of my house or took Caitlyn for an hour or so so I could get a few things done. One of the benefits to living in such a small community. All I can say to you though is - I am sure it wont last! Ro will settle and find her groove again I am sure. And I will admit during Caitlyn's worst moments I did walk away from her - she was safe of course. Well even safer without me there at that point. I would wrap her, put her in her cot, give her her dummy and shut the door. Then I would either go to my room, have some peppermint chocolate or have a quick bath. Then I felt better about dealing with her and I could cope a bit better. And sure, I had some crying jags where I was sure I was the worst mother in the world and didnt know if I could do it anymore. I am still a bit down on myself about it (compounded by the fact that I couldnt breast feed!) but with the support of DH I am starting to feel a whole lot better about it!
-
Poo about the red eye! Hope it's not giving her too much grief! I know how you feel, I felt like the worst mother last night because I seriously could have just screamed at her.. But I kept telling myself it's not her fault, she doesn't understand. But we both that's not case, and just because you couldn't BF doesn't make you a bad mother... jeez... It is so hard, and everyone knows I have just about given up many times! It also sounded like you didn't have alot of support or a good environment to help you keep your wittsend. Your a fantastic mother because you've pulled through the rough times and done what you've had to to get you through.. It sounds like you already know your baby quite well ;) I think Ro is herself again, just overtired last night and this morning the poor chook.. she's been fine since thank god! Speaking of bad mother... How terrible is this? The otherday when we were shopping on the Gold Coast I was unloaded Ro and put her in the pram besides the car and decided I ought to leave the car windows down a little bit, so I turn the keys on and put the window down a little. When I turned around - the pram was GONE!!! I paniced and saw it on the middle of the road with Rochelle in it! there must be the slightest dip in the road... luckily I park right down the back of the car park where there are no other cars around (Hate the thought of someone hitting my car with their car or trolley. But GOD I felt like the worse mother in the world... Have used the breaks ever since even when we're at the checkouts!
Thought I'd just mention with the ebay headbands, you could so make them yourself, I just can't sew to save myself. :P
-
Oi I could sew them but when you consider purchasing the items needed and then finding time to make them I'd much rather give someone else the money, besides having checked out ebay already - just purchased 4 they are so cheap and gorgeous......thx again Catherine

HELLO MUMMY'S
Tiera was soooooo much better last night and today she is back to being an angel!!! We are all VERY happy in this house today. As she had 2 bad days, they said that is probably her growth spurt and we should be back to normal now, just with more milk in the boobies! :D
Went to Mother's group this morning which was good as always, got to ask the community nurse a heap of questions afterwoods. Next week is the last meetin until Feb, I iwll miss it as its the easiest way to get me out of the house without having to think... where will I go today. Theres not much to do in Forster that doesn't involve the beach or lake!
We are dropping our dog, Auto off at his new house tonight... Well DH will take him, cuz I will probably 'lay down the law' to his new owner too much! It will be a teary afternoon, but trying my best to stay calm for the sake of Tiera and breastfeeding.
Trish - Does Kieran's prob hurt him at all? Good to hear its not too bad and easily treatable. Will the treatment stop his reflux too?
-
Oh Catherine was Ro trying to run away? You poor thing how scary! I have almost lost Myles in the pram but have a little rope thing that goes around my wrist Thank god!
Oh tiff hope you are alright and wont miss your doggy too much!
Rebecca hope caitlyns eye gets better!
Yael go 10 kids! I would love that many but not that many labours:)
Myles is in 00 aswell! I think its just different types of baby clothes!
Have to go its starting to rain have to get washing off the line!
x
-
Hey everyone!
Kieran was a bit unsettled this morning, I'm not sure if it's what I ate last night? We did the grocery shopping before lunch which is always interesting at Aldi with Kieran in the Baby Bjorn and Joel in the trolley! It's pretty tiring and I hope DH will do it next time!! I fed Kieran when we got home and he wouldn't stay awake so I put him in bed at 12:45 and he is still fast asleep now, I suppose I'll have to wake him to feed him soon... I got an hour nap while the boys were asleep which was lovely!
Catherine - Looks like you have started a headband fad! Your pram rolling away would have been so scary! At least when those things happen once we always make sure it never happens again! DH did a similar thing (luckily just before Joel was born) when trying to get our new pram in the front door. He opened the door and realised the pram had rolled backwards down the front steps! We always made sure to put the breaks on when Joel arrived LOL!
Rebecca - Hooray for the swing working! We have a Fisher Price one and it is great when I need an extra half an hour to keep Kieran happy while I'm trying to cook dinner/eat/etc... I definitely recommend swings to everyone! I hope Caitlyn's eye is OK.
Saffi - I hope you get the daycare centre you want.
Yael - Wow, 10 children is a huge goal! Good for you, I hope you reach it. I am happy with two right now, DH wants 3, but it will take a lot of convincing!!
Nic - I hope Nixon gets better soon, that's great that your mum will look after him for a while.
Tiff - I don't think it caused Kieran that much pain, the chiro was actually surprised he doesn't seem that bothered by it. He suspects it is causing the reflux and it should go when he is all fixed, but it's too early to tell yet. I'm glad Tiera is back to normal for you, those growth spurts are hard work!
Boomba - I absolutely love your photo of Myles, what a cutie!
Hi to everyone else, have a great day!
-
Ok Cath - May as well PM me too. LOL! I only have a few headbands for Chels as I have never really liked head bands before. I put one on her the other day and she was sooooooo cute, so I too must go shopping! LOL.
Chels is still in 0000 at the moment! Had her weighed the other day and she is now 5kg, but still fits her 0000 clothes perfectly! I am so happy to have alittle baby this time as apposed to my 'tank' last time. LOL!!
-
just today ive taken all the 0000 out of Tyron's cuboards exept for a few things which still fit him he is going into 000. One week ago he was 4.55 so guessing he is about 4.7-4.8kg now.
How scarey Catherine.
Trish- it is a bi ordeal just to do the grocery shopping isnt it!
-
Well - Caitlyn's eye is ok - just have to keep an eye on it so to speak. The Doctor thinks maybe either she has a little dust in it or the fact that it is soooo dry out here has made it itchy. So he gave me some lubricating drops.
I also talked to him about some feeding issues. Caitlyn is 7 weeks old today and is still on a number 1 teat (Avent teats). It can take her up to and sometimes over an hour to get through 120 ml which is quite frustrating at 4 am. We have tried to move her up to a number 2 a few times and each time she gets pains in the tummy. Of course he suggested trying a different shape teat *thinks - why didnt I think of that??* So DH will be off to the shops this afternoon to see what they have there (not much!) or I will head to the pharmacy tomorrow to see what they have there.
One week ago Caitlyn weighed 4.53 kg. She is still in some 0000 clothes but her little suits with the legs built in dont fit her in size 0000 and are a little too big in 000. Mind you she pretty much lives in a nappy and a singlet anyway. And I am going to have to look at buying some thinner wraps for her - she was sweating in hers today - with the air con going and she cant be unwrapped AND sleep. Oh and its official - at 4 pm today Cloncurry hit 39.7 degrees with 9 % humidity! And at 11 o'clock last nbight it was 31!
-
Viv - Rhys feeds every 4 hours during the day!! If he doesn't wake up, I wake him up!! But at night I don't wake him but he is on average of 5-6 hours if not the whole night. I bought some Pigeon dummies today cause he latches onto that bottle at the moment....He latched onto the Avent one last week but won't this week....Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! My kitchen bench is starting to look like the local chemist baby section!!
-
Rebecca - an hour for Caitlyn to take 120mls? It takes Rochelle about 5 minutes! ROFL... We are definately on number 1 teats when we use or used bottles!
-
Kieran has been in 000's for a few weeks, he was 4.36kg two weeks ago, but he has chunked up HEAPS. He has a double chin, chubby cheeks and Michelin man legs! He gets weighed again on Friday and I can't wait to see how much he has porked on. I don't think it will be long before he graduates to 00's.
Nic - Yep, shopping is an ordeal!
Rebecca - Glad her eye prob was nothing serious. Yikes with the temperature! Hope you have a good airconditioner!
-
Rebecca - wow 39degrees! According to everything I have read the optimal temp for a baby to sleep in is between 16 - 20 deg, how the @#$% are we supposed to do that in Qld in summer?
Having major issues atm trying to aircon his room to stay around 24degrees and then work out what bedding we are supposed to use. I think he is too cold and put a flannel wrap over him while he is wrapped in muslin and wearing a singlet and nappy. DH thinks he would be fine with just the muslin wrap. Either way L is very unsettled atm and isn't sleeping more than 30 minutes at a time.
Anyone got any thoughts on what we should be doing or what the prob could be?
L when he has a bottle is still on Avent 1 and takes no more than 10 mins to go through 100ml. Perhaps Caitlyn doesn't like the teat. Or maybe the formula isn't at the correct temperature. This happened to me the other night, it was too cold, warmed it up and he guzzled it down. Just a thought.
L still in 0000s. Mind you he has packed on the weight in the last fortnight, but expect it will be a few weeks yet before he graduates up to the next size. I expect that 00 will be some months away. Not even sure how much 00 stuff I have.
Will consider the power swing for L's Xmas present. We only have the Baby Bjorn bouncer and that doesn't keep him entertained for long. Grandparents are looking for present ideas! Was also thinking about a jolly jumper.
-
Maddi is 0000 tops, but her pants are starting to get a tad short.
I've use her 0000 dress's as tops, some of them are too cute not too use.
She'll be in 000 very soon.
-
hi ladies
has anyone raised the mattress under bubs head in their cot or bassinette? I'm thinking of doing it, and was wondering how others had done it. Someone told me to place a folded up towel under the mattress? has anyone else tried this?
-
face book users,
im kate gibson
add me!!!
-
i put a book under the two top legs of the bed to elevate lachies cot
-
Kellie - I have two folded towels under Kieran's mattress, it seems to work!
-
Trish - this may seem like a stupid question, are they just at the end where his head is?
-
Kellie- yup i have two folded towels under hear end. Helps keep things in stomach rather than on cot sheets i find! ;)
Catherine and Trish- just b/c i know you read babywise........how often are you feeding at the moment?
ETA- Yael, excuse my ignorance....... is it traditional/typical for Jewish people to have large families? The jewler, who i got my engagement ring off is Jewish, (not relevant, but he is SUPER lovely!) and he has alot of kids too. I would love 10 kids, but not sure that is ever going to happen. Might settle for 3 or 4 though.
-
Kellie - Yep they are up the head end, but down a little just to get the incline at Kieran's end. We have far less spews now too!
Ange - I feed Kieran pretty much 3 hourly during the day and he generally goes 5 hours then 4 hours between feeds o'night. He currently has 7 feeds a day. I'm not going to wake him at night anymore, hopefully he will soon skip his middle of the night feed!!
-
Ange I feed when the boy wants to feed:) Probably every 3 hrs I reckon? No night feeds anymore or very rarely he seems to be sleeping through!yay!
Saffi I was told rule of thumb for keeping baby dressed right is always one layer more than you have on! Its so tricky hey I am always worried he is too hot too cold! I cant wait till he can tell me himself!;)
Well Myles is 5.79kgs as of monday so he is nearly cracking the 6kg mark!yay! He is sleeping really well at night which is great! I should be getting work done but am too busy on here catching up:)
I have just bought the Amber teething necklace so am hoping to get him wearing it asap! I really hope they work!
He has also found his hand which he now fondly sucks at any given time!
Better go have a good night ladiesxo
-
Hello Gorgeous Mummies!
Sorry - but there are way too many pages to catch-up on... I'm sick  have a cold = really sore throat and runny nose etc. Have had it since Monday  Doing the 4am feeds is so much harder when you feel like carp.
Sizes = Kaylee was out of the '0000' within two weeks, and a couple of days ago I moved out of the '000' into the '00' for the all-in-one jumpsuits and wondersuits = her legs are too long for them. But in dresses, t-shirts, pants, suits without legs etc she is still in the '000'. Am I missing something - I didn't think Kaylee was very big or that long, but her legs are def too long for the '000' suits.
Baby brain combined with a cold = completely gah-gah. Hope everyone else is doing better than me!!
-
Peta- Lu is same as Kaylee, size wise. They are almost 4 weeks older than some bubs here though. ;)
-
You gals sure can talk!!
Back in town!!!
Mo the directions will get me there thanks for that!!
Jasmine is still in 0000 clothes. 000 swims on her...they are huge!!
ETA: Post pg brain....wrong day for meet up!!
-
Ive got Tyron on a number 2 Advent teat because i have been putting a thickener in with the ebm. Seems to help keep things down although he is still a spewy baby.
We have a phone book and towell underneath the bassinett matress so he's propped up a bit.
1hr to drink 120ml would be very frustrating. Nixon used to take an Hour to bf for months so i understand how teadious and esp at night feeds frustrating that it can be. Hopefully u might find a bottle and teat suited more to her, but its all an expense isnt it none of this stuff is cheap!
Peta- As Ange said you bub is a whole month older then a lot of these bubs so i dont think she is a big baby just older than most of ours!
have fun at the meet up qld girls!
-
ROFL @ Peta... Ro doesn't fit 00 in the bonds all in ones anymore because her legs are too fat and her feet are too long and she can't really stretch in them!
Ange, still 3 hourly during the day and one feed at around 3 - 3.30. Is that what you meant?
Amber, what's the teething necklace?
-
I use #2 Avent teats. Takes Jasmine around 10 mins to drink 150ml.
-
Sorry Cath, can you PM me that site for headbands?
-
Thanks Cath for the info :D
WB Kim, hope the trip home was better :)
-
Morning everyone!
Welcome back Kim! How was the trip home?
I think we may be having a growth spurt, Kieran has been waking earlier than usual for feeds, I feel like he is permanently attached to me! Surely he has grown enough! I don't want him to grow up too quickly, he will be a big boofa before I know it. It's funny how with Joel I couldn't wait for him to get bigger and go through new stages and with Kieran I just want him to stay little because I know how fast it all goes. I want to savour it all.
Have a great day everyone!
-
I know how you are feeling Trish! Trish when did you start stretching Joel's feeds out from 3 hrs? (Can you remember?! ;) )
Cath the reason i asked, i think Lu had a growth spurt. She wanted to feed every 3 hours day and night, then she slept one whole day and fed 3 hourly for another 24hrs. I was questioning myself because she has pretty much always only woken for one feed in the night. But she slept normally last night, just woke for feed at 3.45. So i think we are back on track! I'm still feeding 3hrs in the day, but going to stretch out to 3.5 soon i think......
Viv- How's the red spots?
:waves: hi everyone.
Mothers group yesterday, good fun. Also did a 5km pram walk up and down a few hills. i can feel the fat melting off!
Off shopping in Mornington with a GF, then to docs to check Lu's hips out. Have a fabbo day. :D
-
Ange - I can't remember exactly when, but Baby Wise says anywhere from 5 - 8 weeks you can stretch them out to 3.5 hours. Glad Lu is back on track, it is tiring when they want to feed all night!
-
The trip home was much better. Jasmine still wasnt a happy traveller. We have worked out she gets car sickness....so will be flying from now on. Chelsea also started cracking it in the car...i guess i cant blame them... 2500km over the week wouldnt have been fun!!
-
morning all
ange - red spots aren't red now, they just look like pale bruises. i have been getting the big fella to drain it where possible - he totally knows he's supposed to, so weird. it hurts, but it's definitely not mast. not sure how long it takes to unblock blocked ducts but i'm getting jack of it. it's nice to be building a stash of milk though for mr piggy later on.
amelia - james would kill me with dagger eyes if i waited 4 hours to feed him (unless he was asleep). i just can't see how i could go more than 2.5 hours if he's been awake, or only had a short sleep. maybe that's why he's such a vom-bag. thing is, he regularly sleeps 8 hours in the first stretch at night, and will only do a 10 minute blast on the boob in the middle of the night. i know i have a big supply but i wonder why he needs to feed more in the day.
i mull it over all the time - is it because he's hot and dehydrated? maybe, good excuse to feed. is it because he's a big fella? no, because yours can wait four hours. what do you do to distract him if he's on the make for food but it's only 90 minutes or a couple of hours?
catherine - sucks boo on the road incident. worst nightmare ever. when we got the stroller i got this stern look from dh, "ALWAYS put the brake on whenever you stop" *dagger eyes*. i never forgot. but then, sometimes the stroller tries to get away off the footpath when i'm pushing it, maybe coz i'm a bit of gumby with it. *eye roll*
i wondered what that black strap was for.
yael - you are hardcore. i marvel at how my mum had 9, back in the day when big families were de rigeur and mums were trained to do it properly in school. i am flat out with one. i think it all comes down to support. if you have all that support and community then why not!! makes for great holidays with lots of people.
saffi - unless you wanted to bundle the carp out of a kid and blast the a/c, it would be impossible in a queensland summer to keep a kid at 16-20. i wouldn't want to go into his room. is your a/c in the baby room or drifting in from another room? ours drifts in, so it's easy for me to control because he has a ceiling fan that i can crank up and down to hurry it up (or not). 18 degrees to me = winter and explorer socks. *shudders at the thought of winter on these tiles*
-
Well...my work just keep throwing money at me :D - not that I am complaining. I went into work yesterday and I get told that I will be getting around $3500 in incentive payments cause we met and went beyond target this year!! WOW I didnt even know we got incentive payments! Oh, and when my boss sent away the papers for my maternity pay they said that I wasnt supposed to get it. But I had a letter from my HR rep which said i did! So YAY!! Is gonna help heaps. Oh and they are offering me shares in the company now - for nothing!
Well - went to woolies and the chemist last niht and the only slow flow teat they had were advent ones. They had medium flow ones in Tommee Tippee but when i tried Caitlyn on it this morning I could hear her gulping and could feel the air going into her poor little tummy. So I switched back to the Avent one. Sooooo didnt want a repeat of yesterday for the poor little thing. Last night was pretty good - 3 hourly feeds. TAking an hour in total now to feed, burp, change and settle her. So I'm not doing too bad. Just gotta keep her up a bit later at night. When we put her down initially she sleeps for about 5 hours so will try that tonight.
Well she just had a feed (Kim - I wish it only took 10 mins!) and is settling in her swing. I am off to shower and then if she is still asleep, going to ebay some decorations for her nursery - bored with it already!
-
We seem to be averaging 2 pages per day ATM! :)
Sizes - Tiera got weighed yesterday and is now a chubby 4.1kg. YAY!!! 250g in a week. Clothing wise she still fits into 0000's some little all in one seem to be quite fitted, but length ways there fine. As they start to get tught on her tummy I will take her up a size.
Growth spurt - For all of you that are going through it or are yet to go through it, take comfort in the fact that it only lasts around 48hrs. I was so releaved to hear that! It will be all over and done with before you know it!
I had big cudddles with my boy yesterday arvo and said my good byes. Cuz I was crying he kept licking me and putting his big chunky head on me. He is just beautiful, but he spent his first night in a new home! I'm going to get DH to call the guy to see how he went.
Rebecca - Thats awesome! I bet you'll put it to good use just before Xmas!
Had a good night with Tiera, but didn't get much sleep myself. After our house being exterminated twice in 2 months we had 2 ****roahes roaming around last night, which are now dead! But if thats not bad enough, I had just put Tiera back to bed after her feed at 4am and saw a small black spider on my arm!!! I quickly brushed it off, but couldn't get back to sleep, as all I could think was 'If it have had of been on her and she was bitten, we would never have known'. I know she would have cried, but unless we saw the spider on her, we wouldn't have known why! This thought REALLY scared me and is still playing on my mind. My neighbour was bitten by a redback a couple of weeks before I had her and he went to hossy and was treated, but he is a grown man! We can say where it hurts and identify a spider, babies can't. AHHHHHHH! I'm a stress head, aren't I???
lol Well after all of that... Have a great day all
