J ate a wonderful dinner tonight. I went ack to basics and gave him mashed veggies with some tuna. He still made me feed him, but better than the last few days.

Then I did fresh fruit platter for dessert. At first he started spitting the fruit, so I added a spoon on vanilla yoghurt so at least he (messily) fed himself some fruit. He has been using a fork a little, but mainly his hands for the fruit.

I dunno - I see kids his age, and they all seem so much more advanced than J........ Just my anxieties coming back in.

Jodes - Hope you manage to get some rest.

Nelle - I have tried the leaving snack thing to no avail.

Meg, honestly hon, if you're worried about J's skills, come visit us, I'd be very surprised if Riv was more advanced than J. He doesn't talk (though I think he said 'no' today when I was telling him off for knocking a picture off the wall :P), he only started walking at 18months, and he doesn't feed himself often, although he can. He's only recently started to be interested in actually looking at the content of books, as opposed to just turning pages. But I'm not worried, his comprehension is excellent, he understands us fine. I just think every kid develops in their own sweet time, depending on their interests and personality - Riv's laid back, so not needing to demand anything (so not much talking) and not in a hurry to get anywhere (so a late walker), and he LOVES food so would rather we feed him (we're quicker)...but he's very observant, into detail, so hence the unscrewing and untying and obsession with wheels and spinning things.

Anyway, long story short, it doesn't sound like there's much to worry about because I reckon that at this age all kids develop really differently and then as they get older they start to even out a bit more.

Thanks for all the congrats girls. I'm still paranoid that its a false reading or something, won't feel comfortable til 12 week scan when I see for real!

Caddie- I don't know how you are surviving! I think once she is totally recovered you might sleep for a week.

Meg- I agree with wise Nelle, they all do own thing at own time.

Jodi- Hope things start settling down and you get some sleep.

Laurin- God you hardly get to see your Dh and now he is sick!
