    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has any advice. I have very much got a booby boy, and I really would like to start weaning.
The only thing is that he won't take the bottle. When we are out, and he is sitting on my knee he starts trying to rip my shirt open he loves boobs so much.
He is also a comfort feeder and when he is upset he wants boobs. He won't take the dummy.
Anyway any advice would be great.

To the pregnant girls who are missing their second ski season in a row (although last year was dismal anyway) i will ski enough to make up for what you are missing

Okay girls, no bubs on our las vegas trip, they can stay with the dads. Lol Maz, I have odd images in my head now!

Meg- James sounds just like Ashleigh. Its only been in the past month that she doesn't comfort feed so much, since she really got into solids.
If you want to cut the comfort feeds first maybe try other ways to settle, intially they may take longer but eventually they may work. With Ash I still use the boob if she is really upset otherwise I pick her up, walk round with her cause she seems to like that.
At this age your prolly better introducing a sippy cup, we tried the magmag one for awhile, I know a few girls here use one, then I tried the nuby cup which seems to work well with Ash, I just try with water after every meal and just in the last week shes actually drinking out of it. Its all just trial and error to find what works.

meg - when he's upset and wants comfort feeds, is it hunger, or teeth, tired or just sooky? If he's just sooky, then do what shell suggested, try taking him outside for a walk or something. With not taking a bottle, also do as shell suggested and try a sippy cup, a lot of babies tend to take to sippy cups rather than bottles (but some are the other way round). I use the Pigeon Mag Mag sippy cup for Nina. She used to be a booby girl, loved it! But as soon as I introduced the sippy cup, she never went back to boobie
If it's teeth, does he like to suck on a teething ring, or a wet rag maybe?

Hi Shell, Thanks for your advice. He is a comfort feeder, so I will try other distractions instead of giving in.
I have tried the sippy cup, but he still doesnt seem to have quite got the hang yet.
I have copped a bleeding nipple from him in the past few weeks thanks to the intro of teeth!!! Jodie, i will try the cup that you suggested. He also loves wet face washers!!!!
I am not ready to totally ween him, as I actually really love feeding, but it would be nice to leave him once in a while and do something for myself.
    Hope everyone is going well.
Bath time, better go. I might BBL.

Meg- Just keep trying with the sippy cup and eventually he will catch on, try couple to see what suits him.

Caddie- Those scrap pages are fantastic, after doing all the ones I did for mothers day I've gone slack again, will have to get back into it.

Ash loved the chicken sweet corn soup Df cooked us yesterday, I just thickened it with rice cereal and she was wolfing it down.

ETA: I also want to know bout this secret!

    wow lots of posts.

Meg - I am trying to wean Rylee at the moment - not completely but maybe just a bottle in the day and a bottle at night - instead of just one bottle at night - make sense??? With them trying to get to take a bottle / sippy cup, it is all a matter of perserverance, I have got Rylee onto bottles but not the sippy cup - I sometimes take the valve out of the cup so the water comes out quickly so she can see that water comes out the holes - she is getting there slowly.

Rikki - so glad you are getting a break what a relief for you.

Girls - what finger foods are you feeding your bubs now??

    Gotta go,
    Laurin

    morning ladies!!!

    is anyone awake?? hehe
    im at work yeehaaa
    soo cold!!!

laurin- i have started savanna on fingerfoods such as asparagus, carrots broccoli, basically any fruit of vegie.
the vegies you can cut into pieces and steam so bubs can hold it and eat and the fruit you can also cut into pieces for them to pick at and hold and eat.
its so cute i love watching her feed herself. she pushes the food to the side of her mouth and chews. tooo cute!!

also small pieces of soft chicken and toast etc

i have also seperated the egg yolk and make scrambled eggs with it for her which she picked at and ate. also cut up small bits of sausage when we were having breaky and she loved that.

you can try all sorts of stuff. my health nurse told me to start her on foods we eat but just to cut out the salt... so thats going really well so far

    good luck!

Nessa - Make some anti-eew (some essential oil in a water sprayer) spray for her! Then you can spray the room for eews to scare them away. Might be worth a try anyway... if you use pure essential lavender oil in the sprayer it'll help calm her anyway.

Caddie - Your scrap pages look fab!!! Wish I had the time to do that sort of thing, but I'm trying to get back into painting again (on top of dog training and cake decorating)

Maz -Sounds like Wilhelm is a lucky boy this week with the incoming pressies. A huge thankyou if you were my babydust fairy. Luv ya matey.

Jodie - I tried calling you this morning, but you were out having a life :-P I'm flat out tomorrow so will call on Monday to catch up.

    Belle - Where are you?????

Laurin - How's Rylee's sleep going? I've partially weaned Xander now and only do 2 feeds myself, the lunch one is now formula.

Meg - I wouldn't bother with trying to hard with the bottle, go straight to a sippy or even straw cup. Some bubs even like a regular cup, but that can be very messy whilst they learn. I started Xander on the magmag but he preferred the straw top. He now just drinks out of an insulated Target baby non-spill straw cup as he doesn't need handles anymore. Ouchie on the bleeding nipple... hope it heals really quick. I've been working really hard and going back to basics with Xander and making sure he attaches properly since the top teeth came through.

Ambz - I so remember those stitchy weird feelings! How awesome... things must be starting to feel 'real' IYKWIM? (instead of just seeing those two little lines on a pee stick)

Shell - How's Ash going with some finger foods now? Any luck?

Nelle - What's handsome Riv up to lately?

Kellxx, Rikki, AnnaT, Rach, Annie, HelenP, Sharleen (if you're around?), Chrissy - Hope you are all well and wonderful!

ness - don't you dare start that singing, or there'll be smacks involved
