SupaB, don't worry that T only had a drink for 15-20 minutes. It definately won't dry up your milk. Will will only drink for 20 minutes max, usually less. I still have plenty of milk and he is growing like a weed so I don't worry about it. Is T three weeks now? They often have a growth spurt around three weeks where they want to feed all day for a day (and night) or two, then they will have a couple of really sleepy days afterwards. Maybe that is what is happening? I was told to watch for it at 3 weeks, six weeks, three months and six months.
Cally, I feel for you with the missed morning nap. Will used to sleep 8-11 every morning for a couple of weeks, then he decided he didn't want to any more. I don't usually get a nap during the day now, but I remember it fondly.
You ladies with other kids are my heros! It is hard enough to get anything done with one baby, don't know how you manage with more than one. By the time I had W changed, fed, changed again, nappy bag packed it took me about 45 minutes to get ready for the bus, then I got puked on and had to come home again to change clothes. Can't imagine the extra drama with a toddler (or two) as well.
Supa, I meant EBM LOL - expressed breast milk. If T has a quick feed and then sleeps, it wont affect your supply hun, and you may notice that the next feed when she wakes is a bit longer. As they get older too, they get very efficient at draining the breast, so 15-20mins may be all she needs to get her fill. Don't apologise for self centred posts, I think we are all entitled to have them ATM, it's hard to keep up somedays.
11, IKexactlyHYF ATM. The other day I wished the ground would just swallow me whole - it certainly wasn't the best day I've had that's for sure. I hope you can talk things over with your DP tonight and that you can work through it all. The kids behaviour is an issue here too ATM. If you need to vent at all about how you're feeling, come in here and do it - don't bottle it up OK? *hugs*
Leanne, how often are you working atm?
Katie, it's hard when we aren't sure if we are doing the right thing or not, but trust your instincts as they are almost always right.
Arte, I remember the day naps too *sigh* I really need to have one soon I think.
Art- I am finding it very hard at the moment. My house looks like a bomb has gone off in it and I feel totally stressed but I am sure it will get better soon... lol
Sherie- 4 days a week. However I am lucky that I run my parents and brothers businesses and get some flexiablity.
Afternoon everyone -
Pregpan - i hope you have a better night tonight. Hannah was unsettled last night too (too many Lemon slices from Coles i think) I slept on the couch with her on my chest from 3:30 until about 5:30, then went back to bed and she woke at 6 :00 for a big poo. (not going to buy anymore slices for a while ;) )
Cally - re the HaB, maybe you could swaddle Katie, but you would have to use the position where she is laying down. I find that Hannah sleeps so soundly when she is in it, that when i take her out she stays asleep. (she isn't used to being swaddled though) I hope everything goes ok with the ultrasound.
Katie - good to hear that Logan is doing well. Hope you had fun at your ob appointment today. I've got mine on Thursday. (hoping he doesn't want to do a pap smear, as i had one a year ago)
ele- i hope your day is getting better now. One thing i can't stand is when Zoe whinges as soon as she has woken up. Really starts my day off on a bad note. I hope your DP is a little more understanding tonight.
Are we meant to have appointments with Obs or just GPs? I don't have a gp at the moment, refuse to go back to the one that I saw when preg. I tried another dr for the one week check up but we were only in there for 3 minutes, he didn't ask how I was at all just did a basic check for W, then told me to go across the road to the chemist to weigh him as they didn't have scales. Guess I will have to try out another one, good GP's are so hard to find.
Arte - i'm pretty sure that you could just have the checkup with a GP.
Hi ladies, just wanted to pop in for a quick big :grouphug:.
Sounds like a few of us are having bad days - and I just want to say to everyone - Don't doubt yourself! You are all doing wonderful things nurturing your gorgeous bubbas. It's perfectly normal for bubbies to be unsettled from time to time (who knows why) and not a reflection on what you are doing at all! How lucky all these babies are to have such a caring, clever, switched-on mums bringing them into the world. :D
11 - well I think I would have been shrieking too hun - hope you can get it sorted out with DP - he needs to show a bit of initiative!
Leanne - I think you are an absolute hero working 4 days - I don't think I could handle one right now - remember to ask for help when you need it because you don't want to be running on empty all the time
hi everyone
havnt been on for a bit had a few really bad days.. sunday i was up from 4am Asha was really unsettled she had really bad wind... i tried everything but she cried nearly all day long except for a few short naps but we couldn't put her down or shed start again.. i ended up giving her some infacol which didn't really help that much... since then shes been really wingy crying alot and not wanting to be put down sleeping so lightly that when u do put her down she wakes and screams... her feedings messed up too with her drinking half and then staying awake because shes not full but refusing to drink the rest until an hour or 2 later to be honest its really driving me insane..
dp is really good thank god hes still off work he gives me lots of breaks and is keeping the place clean and the clothes washed but i still find myself getting frustrated with him just because i am sooo tired and frustrated in general... its really draining when she cries so much she was such a good baby but now everything has changed and i dnt know what ive done wrong... stomach is still awful to which just adds to the stress....
we managed to go out today, she seems to be better behaved when we go somewhere think its because she really likes the car.. we ended up buying an air conditioner which dp is going to install soon and a coffee table coz the baby bonus came through today so that was nice but as soon as we got home it was on again with the crying... she seems to be bringing up alot of wind though so hopefully she will get it all out and we might go back to normal because she wasn't burping at all after some feeds...
anyway sorry for the totally selfish post just wanted to come on and vent lol i feel so silly because i think after having a breezy few weeks i came to expect it and now that its getting a but challenging i feel like i am cracking under the pressure :(
Noni - you might be going through the 3 week growth spurt, maybe that's why she's unsettled.
Arte - I'm just seeing my GP for the 6 week checkup, we have a 'shared care' system here and only see the ob a couple of times during the pregnancy.
11 - Sounds like your DP has selective hearing not being able to hear the screaming - hope you sort things out tonight.
I had a go with the Bjorn today and it wasn't too bad. Meant I was able to hang out a load of washing which was good. DD fell asleep in it and I managed to get her out, unfortunately she woke up when I put her in the bassinet, I think if I had held her for a bit longer after taking her out she wouldn't have woken up again though.
Well I had my shower today at 4:00!! I had opportunities for it earlier, but kept hoping she would fall asleep and I could go back to bed. At least because she had a busy morning she slept for a decent amount this afternoon.
Hope everyone gets some decent sleep tonight.
Big hug coming at you Noni!!! I don't know very much about bottle feeding but is it possible she's sucking a lot of wind because of the sort of teat on the bottle...? Or do you think it might be a bit of reflux - they are ok upright with reflux but start crying as soon as you tip them over. Have you tried keeping her upright in a sling to sleep during the day? Might be worth a try...
Has everyone's linea negra gone yet? Mine is showing no signs of fading.
Oh Noni - that is exactly what happened to me yesterday!
marydean- how come you always know the exact right thing to say to make me feel better?? sherie, you're the same too...
i've just been reading through the posts after a basically sleepless night thinking what am i doing wrong? why is my baby so unsettled? how am i ever gonna get a shower today, let alone make myself some food, and i'd love to be able to sit here and right a long post but he won't let me put him down so i'm doing the one finger type right now. he just seems so grizzly. if he's not feeding or sleeping he's crying. i know it's starting to drive dp crazy too cos he comes home from work and is excited to spend quality time with lewis and all he does is cry and scream...alright enough selfish posting. sounds like i'm not the only one on here who's having a bit of a hard time atm so i hope you all have better days today. i hope ella pops on soon to let us know how she is...oh and labour vibes to you too queenie- i haven't forgotten how bad it is in those last few weeks!
Cally - I didn't get a linea negra but the stretch marks are showing no sign of fading any time soon.
DH's parents and two brothers arrive this afternoon for a week, should be fun.
Hope everyone is having a better day today
md - we use the tommee tippee ones that have the special supposed anti colic valve to stop that happening lol.. she is a refluxy baby though had to change her formula because she was spewing it all the time now its only every once and a while but i think its still trying to come up but cant because of the thick formula iykwim.. she does have wind but i think its made much worse by the reflux and she does seem to get hiccups all the time where she brings up little bits of milk with them poor thing i do feel bad for her when i am having a sane moment but most the time i am wrapped up in poor me i will crack if she dosn't stop crying iykwim
Nonie - I give Rory a few minutes to rest after he feeds before I burp him to stop him spewing. Also I burp him half way through a feed (much to his dislike).
Ummm I have a few ideas that you can give a go.
Have you raised Asha's cot? I know she is sleeping with you atm but maybe try raise her sleeping position??
When Rory was quite windy when we brought him home we used Braurers (sp). This was needed to be given to him every half hour for 4 doses and then every 4 hours after that. This really worked well.
Oh and when he is pain I bring his legs up to his chest and hold them there for a few seconds. That works fantasticly!
And after I burp Rory on my leg (I have to give him a bit of horsey sometimes to get the burps up) I put him over my shoulder and press down on his back with a bit of pressure and move my hand around in a circle without moving it iykwim??
I hope this helps Noni xoxoxox I feel like a bit of a goose giving advice after being a mum for only 5 weeks LOL.
Renee - good advice - I will be trying to use some of your burping techniques too!!!!
Cally - my linea negra shows no sign of fading, it is quite dark still - i dont think any change in it at all. I hope it goes by xmas time when I am off to the beach (although there are many other body things to worry about before I will be in a beach bikini anyway!! LOL!)
Well I had a bad day yesterday - Noah was v grmpy and didnt sleep at all realy during the day - 1 or 2 catnaps only.. this was after the most disturbed night... so i was at wits end by the end of the day - went and had 1/2 hr quiet time when DH camehome and also asked mum not to come around as i n eeded space... wasnt so bad but i knew i needed a 'circuit breaker'. Anyway we did the bedtime regime at about 7ish (right as Noah was in middle of arsenic hour!) and I fe him at 7.30, he was asleep at 8ish and then slept through to 3.30am!!!! wooo hooooo!!! i went to ed at 10 expecting himt o wake up in an hour or so and of course woke up at 2 ina panic but he was fine... so i got a good block of sleep. he then woke at 5ish with wind and i got up with him but i didnt mind after that sleep. he is being a real sweetie today - no sleep yet though but he doesnt sleep in the mornings i am used to that! i thnk the aim to space out his feeds is going well and thanks to Cally's advice I am really trying to give him 2 sides at most feeds - not chging him at startbut in the middle etc etc. and so far it works about 50% of the time.. so that's good. today he is feeding about 3 hourly.. so i am pleased...
mum bought us a swing (electric) which he likes - it isnt the miracle for us that some ppl say but it is a good distraction while i have a cuppa. also he has started to really play on his play mat - swiping at the toys etc - what a joy to see.
Hope all going well with you all - 11 how are you doing today hun?
Morning Ladies,
Noni- re burping- I burp Olivia half way through then at the end. Before burping I let her dangle with my hands under her arm pits give her a little twist then put her on my lap and rub her back. Works every time for me. They taught me this when the boys were in special care after they were born.
Well I went and joined WW this morning and what a heap of weight I have to lose. Oh I hope this works. Hello to everyone and have a great day.
Pregpan - we had a great night last night too. Fed after her bath at 8:30, went through until 3, then went through until 9!! So I feel amazing today, first time since she was born I woke up when I wanted to wake up. Glad my advice re nappy changing worked! That extra day of experience I have!! LOL!!
Ultrasound this morning - Lump 1, enlarged lymph node. Lump 2, normal breast tissue. So all the fussing around with heat packs, different feeding positions, massage etc was a complete waste of time. Oh well. K was so good during it. Just sat in her capsule chatting to herself for a while the dropped off to sleep.
Cally glad to hear the ultrasound went well, at least you have lots of practise now if you ever do get mastitis lol. My linea nigra is still the same too, doesnt look like fading anytime soon.
Leanne good luck with WW.
Pregpan we have a swing too and at first Logan would only stay in it for a few minutes unless he was really tired but now durring the day I put him in it after a feed and he goes off to sleep (well most of the time).
Renne its amazing how much we learn and how quickly isnt it. The best thing about the forums is being able to offer each other advice and little tricks we pick up along the way.
MD what a lovely thing to say, certinly makes me feel better knowing there are people I can turn to for reassurance who are going through or have been through the same thing and even if they havent been through it is nice to know we can lend each others shoulders.
Logan and i have had a great day today, had a lovely lunch with a friend and her bub. He seems to be doing much better now that I am making him have a full feed in one sitting. He is even back to sleeping 6-7 hours at night.
Cally what a relief everything's ok with those boobies! I felt like a duffer after my US came back like normal but like the lady said - ALWAYS get breast changes checked out.
Cally & Pregpan, must be something in the water cos we had a really good night last night, Elisabeth slept from 9.30 right through to 2.00 then again right through to 6.00 - that's one feed less and gee we felt different in the morning!
Noni - well all those burping tips sound great, I hope you're getting some success with them. Remember to hand Asha over to DP every now and again so you get a bit of a break. xx
No linea nigra here but I got pigment spots on my upper cheeks which haven't disappeared yet. Preggy tummy's not gone either hahahaha.
Gracie I hope you are feeling better - sometimes when they're unsettled you just sort of have to accept it and ride it out best you can. Are you using a sling - helps for getting things done (well not having a shower but it can be the difference between eating and not eating LOL). Trust me you will look back at these days/weeks and think - it all went so quickly!
Elisabeth has been pretty unsettled and windy today so I'm going to try some of those burping techniques. We've had some spectacular chucks too - bought an extra pack of coloured cloth nappies today as my chuckup cloth supply is running low LOL. The young guy at the register couldn't work out what they were until the penny dropped and he said "oh they're those old fashioned nappies aren't they?" and I was like "Haha thanks for making me feel OLD"!
Good afternoon everyone
Katie - great news that Logan is doing much better now. 6-7 hours is a fantastic block of sleep.
Renee - you have every right to give out advice :) and what great advice it is too. Afterall, you're a mummy now.
Cally - I'm so glad that the ultrasound went well. Did they say why the lymph node is enlarged? Have you used the baby bjorn today and managed to put her down without waking? good news that you had a good night's sleep too.
Noni - i'm sorry you've been having a tough time. It's so hard, because just when you think you've got everything under control, their behaviour changes and you've got to try something new. Does Asha like the sound of white noise? When i was at the hairdressers the other day, every time the hairdryer was on she stopped crying. She also likes the sound of the shower. Have you got a sling of some sort that you can put her in? I've got Hannah in hers as I type, as she has been unsettled today. I hope Asha is more settled for you this afternoon. Have you posted in the bottle feeding or reflux thread. Someone there might have experienced the same thing and might be able to give you some extra advice.
Hannah has been unsettled today. She fed at 8pm last night, then 1am, then 4am and woke again at about 5:20am upset. i thought it was just wind pain, but i think she may have been hungry because i only gave her one side at the 4am feed. Dh got up with her and let me sleep ( i listened to her crying for a while and then nodded off.) He was so good - got the other girls breaky ready for me before he went to work. She has been spewing and pooing - 3 huge poos one after the other all day and cries unless i've got her in the sling.
anyway - she's sleeping soundly now, so will try to put her down and clean up the bomb site that is my house.
my ticker is annoying me 'cause i'm still counting in weeks, and i think it's wrong because she is 7 weeks today.
hi everyone!!
cally - i was logging on to see how your tests went - i am so so glad all is ok with your BBs, what a scare you must have had and so glad it is all ok.
ok girls now i have managed to chg the feeding pattern i am now worried that he isnt having enough feeds (do the worried ever cease LOL). He is now going 3-4 hours between feeds and taking both sides a lot of the time (thanks Cally) but he has dropped to about 7 or 8 feeds every 24 hours, it may have even been 6 yesterday bc of the long sleep - do you think this is OK? if i count the 'sides' he is getting about the same but they are just a lot more spaced out - what do you all think? idont want to starve the little one!! I am guessing it is prob ok as he would let me know ifhe is hngry but your opinions welcome... geez i cant win can i??!!!
Jazmum - sorry hannah is so unsettled but sounds like you have it sorted with the HAB. I have an ellaroo ring sling and I STILL havent worked out how to use it LOL. Better learn tha fast before he grows out of it.
Gracie & Noni - hope you are having a better day today.
Katie - sounds like a lovely day with Logan.
hey pregpan - because he is taking both sides at each feed , he probably doesn't need any more feeds at this stage. Hannah would have about the same amount of feeds as Noah. As you said, he will let you know if he is hungry. Hannah also goes up to 6 hours between feeds during the day somethimes. Sounds like you're doing a great job. (in answer to your question - no, the worrying never ceases lol)
i just tried to put H down in her bassinette, but she woke up crying. so she's back in the hab. she's making lots of little whimpering noises too. i'm not sure what is wrong today :( )
Pregpan, that sounds like how many feeds Katie is getting. Even after her huge sleeps last night, she is still only interested in 4 hourly feeds today. I have my fingers crossed she wakes up now so I can feed her (only 3 hours) because then it is out of the way when DH comes home and I can stay up and do it again at 8:30, instead of climbing into bed at 7! Might go and bang some dishes around!
DH suspected it was lymph nodes all along - when I told him he was right, his response was "It would be a waste to have all that breast tissue under your arm pit when it could be out the front"
Jazmum - haven't managed the bjorn today, will probably try after the next feed, this is about the time she is a bit unsettled.
We just managed a huge walk - must have been an hours worth. Need to remember those PFE though, after an hour the situation gets a bit desperate down there!
Leemar - good luck with WW.
Are we meant to feed them from both side in one feed? W only ever gets one side. The midwife at the hospital told me to feed from each side for half an hour, but he only feeds for 15-20 minutes at a time so I just alternate boobs each feed. I have no idea how many feeds he has in a day, I guess it is about every 2-3 hours, sometimes more because if he is tired he wants to feed to go to sleep. I guess he is a bit demanding with his feeding, but he seems happy enough so it works for us.
Leemar, hope WW works for you. I am still holding out some hope that breastfeeding will magically make me skinny, I think I will live here in denial world for a bit longer.
Arte - I dont think we are 'meant' to do one side or both... i think diff ppl think diff things and as long as bubs is happy and growing we are all doing a fab job. I personally have been trying to get him to take 2 sides and feed less often as i want him to go a little longer b.n feeds and also to maybe get my BBs under control a bit more!!!! I cant lug these humungous ones around for too much longer LOL!!! Noah is also quite demanding and a bit of a milk monster but I am trying to alter this a bit and it is working for me.. I hope it didnt come across like this has to be done, it is just what is working for me (today!! LOL)
Jaz and Cally thanks for the reassurance... I write it all down at the moment (I knwo you are giggling at that Jazmum!) so I will see how it goes the next few days...
have a good evening everyone..
pregpan -not giggling at all - i wrote everything down when Jess was a baby too. Now to help me remember which side i need to feed on first at the next feed - i either sing Beyonce's 'To the left, to the left' or 'Right, right, your bloody well right'. lol.
Lol at the songs Jazmum, now I have Beyonce stuck in my head.
Pregpan I write down what time I feed, how long and which side. I am also trying to get Logan to go longer between feeds by trying to get him to take both sides.
Just a quick hello!!
We have had a very tough couple of weeks!... Kaylee was born on the Sat, on Tues we came home from hospital, only just got the ok - as Kaylee had lost 10% of her birth weight and was a little jaundice, but blood test came back as below the requirement for phototherapy. Then had visiting midwife Wed & Thurs, and Friday had a different one who took on look at Kaylee and was very concerned. Her jaundice was quite bad and she had little pussy pimple looking rash all over her body - quite bad on her neck and face... She organised for us to go back into the hospital to see the paediatrician, who examined Kaylee, ordered some blood tests and had us admitted back into hospital and Kaylee put straight under the double phototherapy lights! We ended up spending the weekend in hospital and Kaylee was under the lights for nearly 48-hours. The Dr was also concerned she might have an infection, which she didn't thankfully - but her jaundice was a lot worse than we originally realised. Turned out she wasn't getting much milk from my boobs, if anything. So spent the entire time at hospital, every 3-hours = express, then b/f, then top-up with EBM & BMS, then express again. Continued b/f, topping-up with EBM & BMS, and expressing for another week after leaving the hospital for the second time - to discover that my supply still wasn't increasing, even with the drugs they had given me and it seams my 'tubes' or something not quite right in my boobs as the flow also extremely bad, i.e. anatomy problem. So eventually after lots and lots of stress and tears, and Kaylee still not gaining weight even with top-ups, we gave in and accepted my body simply not suited to b/f and switched to formula 100% on Sunday. Since then Kaylee is doing 200% better and so am I, and as of yesterday weigh with the child health nurse she has finally put on weight and is now over her birth weight :)!!!
Still very tired and not a lot of spare time, I dunno how you ladies have time/energy to be online so much?!
Hope you are all well and happy!! And everyone is enjoying their little bundle of joy :)!!
wow, what an ordeal Peta, but WELL DONE on getting through to the other side!! So glad to hear she's improved beyond measure. I've just looked at all the photos - she is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! You look serene - so happy.
LOL about the boobie songs Jazmum & Pregpan!
wonderful news Cally - what a relief.
TAX IS DONE!!!! I guess there's not much to do now but try and keep the place clean, spend more quality time with the furkids and go bravely in for the bikini wax today... Had a sudden urge to do more work on my thesis (there's some more stuff I wanted to get done before the baby arrived) but frankly my brain is still mush.
Did anyone else notice their eating habits deteriorating dramatically in the last few weeks? I am back on the chocolate like there's no tomorrow and craving sugar. Ick. The fat ankles are returning too - starting to feel like a pufferfish.
Oh Peta sounds like you have had a rough trot lately. Glad to hear both you and Kaylee are doing better now though.
Queenie not long to go now, sit back and enjoy the rest while you can.
DH has gone away for work today and wont be back until tomorrow arvo, I am already feeling lonely, better go catch up with my old friend Cadbury.
Peta - wow like you say a very tough couple of weeks - so glad you've come out the other side now and are enjoying seeing little Kaylee thriving! Give yourself a huge pat on the back hun, you have put in an amazing effort!
Queenie, yes, sit back and enjoy the chocolate. I have a personal theory about fat ankles - in my case they are related to a high-GI diet so if you're eating a lot of sweets maybe that's bringing it on. Or there again, maybe it's because you're PREGNANT - and it's mother nature's way of making you sit on the couch and watch daytime tv in these last weeks when you need the rest! Woohoo on getting the Tax done, hope you get a nice lil windfall.
Katie - let us know how you get on flying solo! I have a friend called Haighs but it's a bit of a long-distance relationship right now...!
Jazmum - I like your tip of remember which side with a song, I know the lefty song but I don't know the righty one...I might have to give mine a political spin, lefty can be Kevin Rudd and righty can be John Howard...let's see if that works LOL!
OK, bit nervous today, have organised to get the house sprayed for spiders tomorrow (this place is INFESTED and has been ever since we moved in - usually do those spraycan bombs but it's getting out of hand this year) - so I'm very nervously going around the house putting away anything that might remotely come near E - they say it's safe but still...you always wonder.
Peta - wow, I can see why you must be exhausted. All that on top of the usual exhaustion that comes with a new bubba. So glad that you're both happy and doing well now that you've switched to the FF.
Katie - my Dh is away overnight tonight too. He had a work function last night as well and didn't get home until about 1am. I didn't get to give the girls a cuddle in their beds because Hannah was unsettled and wouldn't let me put her down. :( hoping tonight is a little different
Queenie- yay for getting your tax done.
Marydean - i can't stand spiders (or any creepy crawly for that matter) do you have to leave the house while they are spraying?
I went shopping with Z and H this morning. H was so good in the hab, (slept whole time) until we got in the car to go home - she screamed the whole way home. So much so that she was going hoarse! I get so stressed when she cries like that. I couldn't wait to get her home and give her a cuddle (she even had a trickling tear :( )
Off to the ob soon,so best go and have a shower and freshen up . (H is due for a feed right on appointment time - great!!)
hello everyone
peta - what a journey you have been on - I am glad you have come out the other side of it and both of you are doing well. That is what is important!
Ooh Jazmum I know how awful it feels when the bub gets real tears trickling down their cheeks - breaks your heart doesnt it! hope all went well at the OB.
Katie - I hope all goes ok with DH away for the night. I am dreading when I have to do a night by myself, even though i do all the night get ups etc it will be different when DH is away. I hope mr cadbury keeps you company..
Queenie - enjoy, it sounds like all is under control for you... dont even think about doing your thesis now!!!
MD - hope the creepy crawlies are gone...
I had an ABA meeting this morning whcih was ok - it was pretty small and i was expecting a bit more info but it was nice.. this afternoon i am off to have coffee with a friend, looking fwd to that we are going to a fab bakery and cafe so i am sure to indulge in something yummy!
I am just ordering thank you cards - need to get them out - i have about 80 to do!!!
hope you are all having a great day - it is lovely here so i am looking fwd to my afternoon walk!
hi all thanks for all the wonderful support and advice we had a better day yesterday so i am feeling a little refreshed... We were out most of the day shopping, Asha is always good when we are out lol she loves the pram and the car, i even elevated the pram slightly for her, coz it adjusts to how vertical you want it iykwim and she loved it...
yesterday in the late avo (her worst time for refluc etc) we ended up giving her gripe water and within a few minutes shed stopped crying and let me put her down.. she then slept for six hours had a feed and went another 6 before her next feed.. dp was a little concerned because it says it has alcohol in it (ethanol) and was wondering if thats why she slept so well.. it does say you can give it to newborns up tp 6 times a day though what do u guys think about just one dose if she needs it???
She also really enjoys sitting up now in her feeding pillow its really cute lol i think it helps her reflux to to be up a bit like a few of you suggested to me..
jazmum - does h not like the car? hope the ob appt goes well and the feed is not too tricky...
md - eeek spiders... i am such a wuss with stuff like that.. i am sure if they say its safe for children and pets then it will be but i understand the paranoia i worry about things like air freshener lol..
ozstar - hope everything goes ok without dh.. cadbury and i are also the best of friends haha
queenie - well done with ur tax! not long to go now!!!

Hi
It didn't come across that we had to feed from both sides, I was just wondering. I think Will would go longer between feeds if he would drink more, but he only likes to snack. Today he hasn't had a drink longer than 10 minutes about every two hours. He is full of smiles today, so cute.
Does anyone know how old they are before their eyes are the permanent color? Wills eyes have lightened heaps and are now a lovely dark blue.
Not getting much sleep, in-laws are here and stayed up late being loud.
ETA - DH just came home with girl nappies (apparently the bright pink packaging didn't make him wonder) . Do you think it makes a difference or should I take them back for boy ones?
Hi everyone! I've been MIA due to preschool yesterday and Dr's today.
Noni, hun I really feel for you. You are doing a great job you know that don't you? It's hard when it seems like all they are doing is crying. If you think it is getting worse, I would take her to your GP and get her on some meds for reflux, it will take a while for it to become effective, but it will pay off in the end. Or it could be that she has an intolerance to the formula she is on, so you may need to change to another brand, but again see your GP about it and she may need to be tested to see if it is an intollerance, it is more common than you think.
Pregpan, how was the coffee and cake? I hope you had enough for me too ;). Don't worry about the amount of feeds he is having - he would be having more in each feed, whereas he was probably having smaller feeds more often before. I hope it does the trick and sorts out the 'girls'.
Jaz, how was your Ob appointment? I had my 4wk check and I didn't even get checked - not sure if that's his usual practice or not though, I'm used to having an internal etc with my old Dr after having the older kids.
Marydean, I would love to have this house sprayed too.
Katie, you will do just fine on your own! You will have to have some choccie for me though (can anyone tell I'm watching what I eat ATM? ;) )
Queenie, how did the waxing go? I never got round to it this time, and I honestly don't think I could have heaved my body onto the table anyway LOL. Woohoo for getting the tax done too!
Peta, oh hun, what an ordeal for you all. I am really glad Kaylee is on the mend - it must have been very worrying for you. I"m sure she will just thrive now that the jaundice has gone. And you did a tremendous job with the BF too.
Cally, that's a huge weight off your shoulders to know that everything is OK with the (.Y.). It is never something you should shrug off as being nothing, so don't feel silly about it at all.
Gracie, just keep telling yourself that it does get better and they get older and they don't grizzle as much. They go through so many developmental stages in the first 12mths that as soon as you get through one, you are into another one. Don't ever think that it's not because you aren't doing things right either - just do what your heart tells you is the right thing and you will do just fine.
Hi to everyone else! I really wish Mbear would post though. I think I might email her just to check in.
I think Alister is starting to form a more regular night pattern. for the last three nights I have had him fed and settled to sleep by 8.30 and then he wakes anytime after 4am, then down for another sleep till about 8am. I am really hoping he keeps the 8am feed as it makes life so much easier during the school week. When we were out shopping today, in one of the shops this older lady said "Oh, I hope you have a boy in there" (cause we had the pram) and when we said yes, she said "Oh that's clever, getting a boy after two girls" we had the girls with us, and the shop owner said as we were walking out "what would you have said if it was another girl?" and the first lady said "Oh, I don't know" I don't think she thought we'd hear that, and I had no idea what to say to that, except maybe for "how about don't comment at all then" but I go into that shop often and didn't want to seem like a cow kwim? We get the "oh how lucky to have two of each" quite a lot, but today it just bothered me for some reason.
Ok, lil Elisabeth is going for her first dr's appt tomorrow - looks like the Reflux Fairy has come to stay at our house for a while. One day, it's chance, two days, it's a coincidence, three days in a row there is a definite pattern emerging. It's just awful hearing her crying as she's obviously in pain, it's worse just after she's burped (you can hear all the liquid gurgling up inside). Poor lovey. It exhausts her too.
Ok, off to google treatments so I've got an idea what the Dr is talking about tomorrow!
