Hello Ladies,
Sorry for being MIA this week I have just started back to work and have been so busy catching up on
everything. Also went back for my 6week check up yesterday with OB and everything has gone back to normal. Olivia has been very sookie during the day and wants to be picked up all the time. So I am finding it a bit hard to handle her and the boys at the moment. She has also been crying when its time to get dinner ready.... Oh the witch hour has started. So if anyone has any advise on how to cope with this please let me know.
Will catch up later with personals.
Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day
Nicknames- Olivia gets Sister and Livy.
So much to catch up on.
Cally well done on the public feed, so far I have only used the Myer parents room so I guess it is only semi public. Sounds liek everythign is going really well for you and Katie.
Pregpan, I agree with MD and suggest you go shopping and try not to pay to much attention to sizes. The fashion lately all seems to be fairly loose fitting too so you should find something nice. I dont know where you like to shop but Kmart have some great specials on and some really nice clothes.
Agnes thats no good about the thrush/pain in the bb's hopeit clears up soon. I still miss being pregnant and get a little sad when I see my linea nigra. I cant wait to have more babies, although I might say something different when Logan starts teething lol.
Queenie hopefully labour isnt to far away. Good Luck
Ella, you poor things sounds like your having a rough time. Hopefully the lactation consultant can fit you in and get the BF issues sorted. Just remember it takes time and we seem to have had some sort of issue.
MD you got the Lovable Mat camis didnt you? I had a look and am going to get some too. I see the pead on Monday and my OB on Tuesday for our 6 week check up's.
I have a bit of a personal question has anyone DTD yet? I am to scared as I heard it is painful and I didnt know if I was meant to wait a certain amount of time? My stitches are gone and my bleeding seems to have stopped. My poor DH is pulling his hair out lol.
Logan mostly gets called bubba or Turtle, he looks like a turtle when he stretches his head up to look around.
ETA: Just fed Logan which reminded me that he also gets called Hoover. lol

hi everyone
Ooh lots has been going on in here!!!
MD - thanks for the tip re the mother's groups - I feel better that Noah will be about average age - it helps that I will be facing similar issues to the other mums at the time i guess... wtg on the mat camis where did you get them from and what ones are they? Myer actually ordered me the mat bras in, the lady i saw there for the fitting (in the city) was wonderful. I also ordered some from Lin And Barrett in the city a while back and they seem quite good in there. My fave lingerie shop is Stephanies in Kingston tho I havent been in there for mat stuff yet (I did get some mat bras there in early preg i think and she was great at fitting me etc)
Ella - good to see you on here!! I missed you! I feel for you with the b/f issues - I dont have much advice as I am far from being an expert - but I have heard it gets easier as time goes on. It is great that your sister was there when you reallu needed her. My SIL had really bad cracked nipples at the start and the midwives at Cabrini gave her a nipple shield to use for a few wks and this helped her, I also had a craxked nipple but not so bad and I healed it with Lanisoh (purple tube from chemist) and working hard at good attachment - Noah likes to suckle just at the nipple so I have to really force the areola in to his mouth - the maternal health nurse told me to focus on getting the areola in and the nipple will 'flick' in at the end - this helped me. Mine wasnt too bad though. I hope the lc can see you tomorrow that sounds like the best thing. Did the expressing go ok and did she take the bottle ok? that is great if it worked! It is a tough time for us all - you will do so well.. I hope it is OK with DH back at work (are his hours better???) - will you get some time just the 3 of you on the weekend? It must have made it even harder with the ILs there - believe me we have been there and back with the ILs since Noah was born (they have been down 2 times!). Let us know how you get along with it all - it is so exciting we are all sharing this journey together now!
Sherie - I dont know how you cope with the water situation - gosh I am a lucky girl! I will think of you when I turn on the taps here too...
Supa - how you going today? thinking of you and hope today is better
Leeanne - cant believe you are back at work!!!! And if you are back at work I cant beieve you are back online with us!!
Queenie - yep I am a 10F now!!!!!! whoah mama they are HUGE!!!! I wonder if you will get through your list??? I never got mine done LOL!!! NO food stored in freezer at all - even after all the quiche talking, i ate them when i cooked them!!!
11 - so glad all going well on the PND side of things... it sounds like you are going so well.
Jaz - I call Noah - snuffles as he snuffles when he wants a feed, munchy, and a whole torren o other little names like cutie, sweetie etc. In fact I call him snuffles or snuffy so much that i was scared he will think it is his real name so I have to actively call him Noah! he also gets Noah Bum, Noah-nini and a host of Noah names too!
Hi to everyone else - sorry i read the last thread but milk brain means I am not sure what was said there!!
Well, I got more and more worried about the diarrea (I know wring spelling but it is my pet word I cant ever spell) last night, esp as he was so unsettled (didnt sleep til 12) and did a mssive poo at about 11 that spilled out of nappy was so runny and huge etc... so I took Noah to the clinic this morning to see the nurses - she told me i should not worry as he has no other symptoms, looks healthy etc and that it is prob just his gut adjsuting to the milk and that i have good supply and he feeds a lot so that is prob why... i will keep monitoring it though as it cant continue surely. she also weighed him and he is now 4.3kg (1kg more than birth and has put on 965g in 3 weeks) and 54cm (5cm more than birth). It is good for me to get these measurements as it is the only real feedback i get on progress etc and it makes all the effort so worthwhile.. so a good day for us! It si so hot here today that I am not sure when i will go for our daily walk - maybe at 3 or 4... went to the clinic and then to coffee with afriend and think i will lay low the rest of the day...
ETA - Katie we were posting at the same time! Love the name turtle, thats exactly what Noah looks like when he stretches out his head - sooooo cute! I also wanted to ask about DTD, i was wondering do i need to wait for 6 wk check up - I feel healed and kinda ready.... but not sure...
Thanks also ladies for spurring me on to shop - i will try on some tops here today and see how they look and if it is a bad look with the flabby tum then out comes Mr VISA and I will hit the shops (geez i need a lot of convincing dont ! LOL!!)

Just a quick one, typing with one hand
Ella, good to hear from you and glad that you had a good labour. Sorry to hear about your PIL. It’s already hard enough to cope with everything … hard enough to try to feed your baby when she’s crying and putting the effort to get the right attachment, but to also be watched while BF … I can totally understand why you’re upset.
You’re not alone, I also had problems with BF since day one, up until now actually (don’t mean too scare you! Bought a breastpump yesterday just in case). I had cracked and bleeding nipple as well. Found it a bit better after seeing LC and learning about attachment (although I still get it wrong almost half of the time). Hopefully things will get better once you see your LC, in the mean time you can browse the net for some tips on getting the right attachment. As MD said, put lansinoh … it helps. Cure your cracked nipple asap, cause now I had thrush which hurts like crazy (initially DS had it and he passed it on to me through my cracked nipple).
Marydean, how’s the mat camis … are they comfy? Yes, the blocked milk duct looks like a big white spot, try to hand expressed and see if there’s milk coming through that spot. The dr put some kind of needle to remove the outer skin so the milk can come out, it didn’t hurt. I think this is why DS refused that side last time because the milk flow was a bit slow compared to the other side. I bought a pump yesterday because its getting so engorged, lucky he fed from that side last night. I think this contributed to some of the pain (esp. on the nipple when he’s feeding) but the deep and sharp pain was after the feeding ... so a bit different.
Try to look for blocked milk ducts or milk blister info on the net and see if yours looks similar (because it might not be it, I didn’t realise it myself until the LC saw it).
Btw, any reason for not putting lansinoh on areola?
Katie, I havent DTD … worried just thinking about it (also worried about teething while BF too) A question, do we actually need to see pediatrician for general check up or things? I think in VIC we just see the MCH nurse and GP
Pregpan - 10F, OMG *pays homage to the Boobie Mothership*
Ella, I was just thinking about you! So sorry to hear about the pain etc - a close friend of mine has just been through a similar thing: 1 1/2 months of to-ing and fro-ing with agony & formula. Def get onto that LC ASAP!! I can really imagine how the feeding in front of the ILs did not help things (am petrified about this myself, and generally, my girls are undercover agents even with my family!). A HUUUUGE congratulations on getting through their visit!! Well done! How lovely that they've really bonded with Abigail though - this must a real pleasure for your DH. BTW has he dropped back on the work hours? Any chance he'll be able to take a little more time off? Big big hugs sweets xxxx
Queenie they are GINORMOUS!!!!!!!! and I swear the 'growth' (I was a D cup) happened in 2 days. ouch!!!!
Hi everyone
Lots of chatting happening - which is just great. (wouldn't it be great if we all lived close to each other and could form our own mothers group- although it might mean that we're not so open with everything that is going on with our bodies etc lol)
Arte - i really hope you don't develop the Type 2 Diabetes. I hear you on having to lose weight too.
Peta - Hi, congratulations and welcome!!
Noni - bummer about DP losing his job, but it's good that he gets to spend more time with you both. I hope he finds something that he really enjoys doing.
Cally - congratulations on your first public breast feed.
re-feeding - I have to tuck a cloth nappy into my bra, otherwise it gets all wet and so does my stomach. Does anyone else have to do this? It means that i can't feed very discreetly.
Agnes - I really hope that the pain in your breasts goes away really quickly.
Ella - you poor thing. I was feeling stressed for you just reading your post. Your cracked nipples sound very painful. I hope that you can be seen tomorrow by the LC and she can help to heal them and help out with attachment. Initially when my nipples were sore - i was getting cramps in my toes from curling them up when Hannah would attach. Yours sounds so much more painful though. I hope your DH doesn't have to work too many long hours now.
Leanne - Hannah usually is unsettled at dinner prep time as well. I often wear her in my HaB. Today though i have already prepared dinner while she is asleep, so just have to heat it up.
Katie - DTD. My poor dh is being very patient - the poor thing. It has been quite a while for him. i still have a little bit of spotting though, so when i know that everything is right , we'll be good to go.
Pregpan - i hope you find something to wear. Clothes shopping depresses me at the moment. I look at those maternity style tops and think they'll look ok - but they look disgusting on me. Can you wear one of your preg shirts and cinch (sp?) it in at the waist with a belt?
Poor Hannah has been in and out of her capsule today. I had to pick Jess up early from school because she's unwell, then had to take her to the docs. Hannah just wanted to sleep, poor little chicken. She has been asleep now for a couple of hours - nice and comfy in her bassinette.
DTD - I understand you can anytime you feel ready for it - tho you might like to take it easy the first few times and have plenty of lube ready...and just remember the Fertility Fairies hang around a bit when you've had a baby so unless you want to be jumping straight back into the Preggy threads you might like to be especially careful with the contraceptives...!
Pregpan -thanks for the shop recommendations...will check them out when I make it back to retail land!
The Mat Camis are really comfy, will trial one tonight tho to check its usefulness in keeping those breastpads in place - woke up awash this morning, for some reason my BBs are really engorged again (I let E suck a bit longer two days ago - she was fussy - and now they're nearly back to exploding at every feed)! Yep Jazmum, gotta have that cloth nappy close by or I get a lap full of milk. And yet I still manage to be paranoid about whether E is "getting enough" lol!
Agnes, ok, well the white spot has gotten bigger over a couple of weeks but the breast is draining nicely (no deep blockage) so I think I'll just ignore it until my 6 week checkup and then mention it to the GP.
Hi everyone!
I have dug out some articles for you all about DTD and mastitis issues;
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/post-natal/sex-after-childbirth
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/post-natal/blocked-ducts-and-mastitis
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/post-natal/treatments-for-breastfeeding-problems
The sex after childbirth one has some insights from BB members - mine is #6. Honestly, I felt more like a virgin on that night than when I really was a virgin LMAO. The key really is to take it slow and use a condom with loads of lube - there is nothing worse for me than if there is a little bit of lochia left over IYKWIM? and to put a towel under your backside JIC. We haven't gotten back in the saddle this time, mainly because DH is still not 100% well and I still have lochia. If penetration worries any of you, remember that there are plenty of other ways to give and receive pleasure
LOL at the talk about F cups. I have been carting "F Troop' around for the last few months and I am glad that they are slowly shrinking back to an E ATM - hopefully they will be back to their normal DD soon.
Marydean, WTG on getting the tops so quickly - they must be based in Canberra are they? I have 'large dark flat ones' and not 'small pink ones' so I understand you completely on that front.
Pregpan, the poos are probably just from something you ate. He is doing very well though, you should be proud - all you BF mums should cause it's bl00dy hard work - they say it's 'natural' but it sure don't come 'naturally' sometimes.
Agnes, I'm glad you're getting the BF caper sorted out too. I hope the articles are of some use to you.
Leanne, can you put her in a sling or carrier while you get dinner ready? I put Alister in it sometimes and it makes a difference. I take him out when I'm cooking over the stove etc, but just a little while helps. Or another thing I do is prepare all the veges and have them in the pots on the stove ready to go so all I have to do it turn it on.
With the water situation for us, it's a hassle to be running out of water, but we're used to it. We haven't had decent rain to run water since early June, so we've done well to make the water last this long. I admit though that having to be so frugal with water here makes me a bit frivolous when we stay in a motel etc LOL - no 5 minute showers then.
Ella - sorry to hear that things are so hard at the moment. I hope you can get in to see the LC today. I have my PIL (and BIL's) coming next week, not sure if I can BF in front of them but don't want to spend their whole visit sitting in the bedroom feeding.
Pregpan - how is your night time routine going? We have had one going since the second night home - he has a feed, then bath/nappy-free time with dad, another feed then bedtime. While DH is doing the bathing I have some 'me' time - walk the dog or come online, great to have a little break. It seems to work well and he always has his best sleep after the bath.
Sherie - Will has now made it to just over 10 pound, I was thinking of Alister being that big as a newborn. I am getting a sore back from carrying him around all the time already.
I am quite a public breastfeeder. I didn't think I would be, but I won't leave him to cry just because some bunch of strangers might get offended. I try to do it discreetly but I don't bother with trying to cover us up. He attaches well so there is not too much nipple exposure, I am more worried about people seeing the big flabby stretch mark tummy. The new Orion shopping center down the road from us has fantastic parents rooms, little cubicles if you want privacy, comfortable chairs, tidy and clean. I was at a cafe with mum where I picked a corner table and sat facing the wall to feed him, only to look up after a while and see a giant mirror that was broadcasting the image to the entire room.
Hope everyone got some sleep last night
MD & Sherie - how funny, I always had small blonde-girl pinks and HATED them as I thought I was the odd one out - think the large browns are suiting me! LOL but don't think I'll be slipping in to any comfy Fs any time soon, the girls aren't that impressive. YET.
Heh heh, I am beginning to appreciate what everyone was going through with the frustrating & confusing runs of BH & "period" pain over the last few weeks: I woke briefly with a few during the night and had a mega-run of 3 this morning, practically back to back and lasting 2 mins or so each. I think DH is disappointed as he has a cold and would quite like to stay home today ROFL. Glad the dear lad has his priorities right...
Arte I cracked right up when I read about you finding your reflection in the mirror! I remember from DD1 that the more often we fed in public the more comfy I felt with it (and the more discreet I was able to be) but my overriding thought was - well if someone doesn't like it, they can always LOOK AWAY! KWIM...I've always been a big believer in averting ones gaze if there's something there you don't want to see...
Thanks for those articles Sherie - yes I absolute do agree about sex being better after childbirth - eventually! Thanks for your candour in sharing, trail of breadcrumbs indeed...!
The Mat Cami was a huge success last night - breastpads stayed where they were supposed to, mummyMD felt like she was "actually" having jarmy time. It was that "aaaaaah" feeling, Jazmum!
Queenie - just remember dear, it's that body getting ready for the big event, every contraction/BH brings you one tiny bit closer to holding your precious little one! We're all soooooo excited for you!![]()
Arte - it made me laugh as well your bf in front of the mirror story - I am also pretty comfy to just do it wherever, I figure gotta give it a go and if i dont start that way from the start i never will... but what a story!!!! I also worry more about them seeing the flabby tum than the boobs which I manage to cover quite easily (even with the new improved massive size!!).
MD - really glad the camis went well - I will look into some too (if i can find one to fit my huge BBs at te moment) as I am SO sick of wearing a bra to bed..
Arte - The bed time routine is going well in that we arr doing it but Noagh is harder to settle at the moment, he is in a funny stage - feeding a lot, not liking sleep etc - I am thinking this is prob another growth spurt?? He doesnt really like the massage (must not get that from me hey girls) - so we have stopped that and he gets more rocking/cuddles. We did learn last night as he had gone to sleep beung rocked and DH was enjoying so much that he kept going - Noah ended up waking up and we couldnt settle him for hours after.... so we have learned our lesson. We had also ben waking him to start (waking to settle to sleep LOL) and this is not working - for example last night we went out for early dinner and N fell asleep in car, I picked him up when we got in and he woke up in my arms and then we started, this didnt really work so from now on we will leave him asleep and start it when he next wakes as i am guessing this messes with the sleep cycles...feel like a bit of an idiot now i read that i woke him up to get him to sleep - it isnt as precise as that but in essence that's what we did. the good news is he still loves his showers!!! it is such a joy to watch him in there with me.
Pregpan, is there any chance that it is something that you are eating that has Noah unsettled? Will is like that - constantly feeding, not sleeping - when I eat things that don't agree with him.
Sugary foods can be a problem for new bubs (not sure why, thought it was an old wives tale but seems to be true). I have also been avoiding anything too spicy.
morning everyone
md - glad you got that 'aaaaah' feeling. might have to have a look at some of those camis for myself.
Hannah has been really spewy last night and this morning. She isn't upset when it's happening, and sometimes it's quite chunky. Might have to drink heaps of water today and see how that goes.
I am finding that she doesn't sleep very well if we use the dummy. She needs to be rocked to sleep and then sleeps for 2 - 3 hours.
I'm the same with feeding in public - just don't want the flab on show. I know someone who used to wear those tube tops, and would just pull the top down. She never flashed any bits. I'm not sure what sort of bra she was wearing though. Maybe the top had a built in bra. They might be good for summer when i'm hanging around the house.
Off to play 'go Fish' with the girls. Catch you all later.
havnt been on as much lately still having alot of trouble with my appetite.. mostly only eating once a day or occassionally twice.. the other day i only managed a vegemite sandwich and a freddo so not good...
its leading to me being overly tired as well last night i got 9 or 10 hours split up but i still feel like i havn't slept its pretty awful.. then theres the tummy problems i'm having (tmi) only going every few days n huge pain in the tummy when i do go which i think is contributing to the appetite prob coz sumtimes i am telling myself not to eat to prevent needing to go sooner lol stupid i know..
so neway if u dnt hear from me as much thats why i am still here just a bit more tired n grumpy
