Hi everyone,
Gracie: as a member of the ?new crew? I?m still here. I seem to be much better reading than posting. Everything moves so quickly on here I don?t know how you all keep up.
Noni: good luck with house application. I hope you?ve managed to catch up on a few zzzz?s as well.
MD: Sorry to hear of the late night fisticuffs.... I?m sure a hot bath will do wonders for your hip. Wasn?t there a show on Oprah the other week about what some people do in their sleep? Hope the party goes well.
Hayley: how is Maddie? It?s horrible to see them unwell but I?m sure the extra TLC you are giving her is making a big difference. Look forward to seeing your new hairdo. I would love a really short and easy hairdo like Pink as well but definitely would not suit my face!
Quick question (maybe Pregpan maybe the cooking guru for this), I was thinking of making some pikelets for Ally to try (sweet and savoury) but all of my recipes have egg. Do I need to find a recipe with no egg?
-
MD, I have tried weet-bix with a spoon, the dog thought it was fantastic because she got to clean up all the slop on the floor. He just uses a spoon like a slingshot.
Pregpan, W has been playing with his penis too. Every nappy time, every bath time. It is his favourite toy LOL. I really hope he grows out of it, I don't want that kid at kindy with his hands constantly down his pants. I just google for recipes, too lazy to dig through boxes to find my recipe books. How were the IL's? Have they gone again now?
Sherie, bummer your sheep weren't very co-operative. I wouldn't be either if someone was trying to ring my nuts off LMAO! We used to have a dog that would lick the drying nads on the bull calves, it was the happiest moment of his life when a set came off in his mouth - he did victory laps though the house with them.
Will had his first snack from the rubbish bin last night, I left the room for a minute and he crawled to the kitchen, opened the cupboard, tipped the bin over and found some soggy lunch scraps to munch on.
ETA I was talking to my south african neighbours and apparently over there they give babies codiene for pain relief! Makes me feel better about giving W the odd dose of panadol.
ETA again Rachee, you can just use the yolk for pikelets if you are worried about allergies.
-
LMAO Arte at you not wanting to own the kid with his hands down his pants all the time. I don't want that kid either and luckily I haven't ever seen one belonging to someone else at preschool either. Alister loves the bin too and I have caught him putting stuff in his mouth that he's fished out of it.
Rachee, it's hard to keep up sometimes, I might have a few days where I only post a 'yes I"m still alive' and just read for a while.
-
Yes I'm still alive!!
Just read through but have to go and cook dinner - just wanted to pop on and say MD that the 18th is an AWESOME day to have a birthday!! I'm counting down the sleeps.
-
hey everyone might just say the yes i am still alive thing too lol theres way too much to catch up on!!!
got a call from the real estate agent yesterday with a few questions from the owner so i atleast know we are being considered.. fingers crossed n will let u know..
-
Pregpan, puhlease can I have your oat and pear and raspberry loaf recipe? I've been after a pear and raspberry recipe for a while but it would be extra good with the oats, I think!
Lil Rach, I'm glad to see you're an avid consumer of quality daytime programming too LOL! I saw bits of the sleep one, I turned it off after the ppl who ate in their sleep, it was just too bizarre.
Noni, I've got fingers and toesies crossed for you hun! Might be your lucky week !
PS re the pikelets, it depends if you're holding off on introducing egg or not. We haven't yet but will probably start with some yolks in about a month's time (10 m.o) - but lots of ladies have already done eggs with no probs so it's up to you. Maybe start with just yolks (use two instead of a whole egg) and see how it goes?
-
*sneaks in and hides at the back*
 Hi ladies :D
It is hard to join a new thread and when we moved house i kind of lost track. But seeings as DD was born the 28/9 i am going to try and join back in!
It is sometimes hard in the October babies thread, because L is almost the oldest, up to 5 weeks older than the youngest. I thought we'd come and mix with kids our own age too.
So hope you don't mind.......
I'll come back later and read up on the goings on. ;)
-
Hi Girls! sorry that i have been MIA...i was meant to be visiting wollongong and going to canberra all this weekend and last week...well, let's just say that the gastro bug hit our house like a truck! lorenzo went to a conference last monday and brought the dreaded thing back. not impressed. so today is the first day that i feel back to normal. luckily leila avoided it.
hmmm. i have missed too many posts to reply to them all ...
MM: sorry to hear maddie is sick. poor bub, it really knocks em about. if only they could blow their noses!
MD: yep, those dreams are intense! my mum still remembers when she went camping with her friends and one of them had a white-water rafting dream. they all had the bruises to prove it LOL!!
Falguni: welcome welcome welcome! yeah, IKWYM about the age difference. at this stage it can make such a huge difference! in my mums group here there are bubs that are 5 months younger and we are just at different places IYKWIM...
Sherie: man, i am exhausted just from lugging myself outta bed, let alone hauling p***ed off sheep around the country LOL! way to go girl! wow, you must be so fit (note the tone of envy...hmmm where's my choccy biccy at??!! LOL!)
Noni: woo hoo! at least there's progress on the house front! got my fingers and toes crossed!
Pregpan: here here, we need the pikelet recipe! i am feeling all martha stewart (minus the jailtime) and need to go with it and get in the kitchen. i bought the WW baby and toddler edition cookbook and it has me all inspired. especially the tofu and vege burgers....leila went beserko over them!
Arte: yeah we have also started on the meals together...how do you tackle the salt and chilli issues though? ATM i am just adding our salt and chilli after...tonight was tuna mornay...mmmm tasty goodness LOL!
anwway best dash and entertain guests, yes, i have hidden myself away for a few minutes...my bad!
:D

hello ladies
lewis has been sleeping so much i don't know what to do with myself. he woke up at 7.30am, slept from 9.30-11.30, slept from 3.00-5.00 and then has been back in bed since 7pm!! i'm really bored and it makes me look really bad cos it's the one day of the week that dp is at home and now he thinks i'm just lazy everyday!!
lewis has alos done 3 poos today. do you think there's something going on with him? i don't know...
did you girls get the toys r us catalogue? there looks like some great bargains in there. my dad is thinking of buying a car seat for lewis so he can help me out a bit more. there's 2 in the catalogue that go up to 18kgs. is it worth buying that still for lewis or will he be out of it too soon?
clare- gastro sounds bad. how awful for you all
ange- hello there. you'll love it in here. it's so great that the babies are so close in age and you can see where everyone is at. lewis is actually a bit younger (he was born in Oct) but i love it in here.
noni- fingers crossed for the house
arte- lmao at will the bin scab!! lewis has taken to putting the dog's foot in his mouth. he literally picks it up when she's lying down and puts it in his mouth.
rachee- hi again, just jump in when you can. it is hard to keep up though isn't it?
pregpan- i want your recipe too  sounds delish! i'm still waiting for your cookbook to come out :)
lewis loves his penis. he grabs it as soon as you take his nappy off and taps it when he's sitting in the bath. my friend who has a dd the same age laughs her head off everytime we change them together after swimming. it's a crack up
jaz- i'm a vego and i had a bite of one of those bunnings sausages one day when i was pg cos it smelt so good...now i hate the smell again lmao
md- i can't believe you're getting beaten up in your sleep. that is so wrong!!! maybe tonight you should accidently draw all over his face in permanent marker in your sleep.
sherie- hello :)
-
Wahhh my poor bubs is still sick. We keep taking her temp but it isnt high. Its so hard when they are sick!! She slept through last night, but was quite unsettled (but didnt wake) and just coughed heaps. It was me who didnt sleep as I was constantly checking on her. So we have the vapouriser on tonight but as I type I can hear her coughing away. :( Is there anything else I can do?
Gracie - Isnt that funny I'm not a fan of red meat either, but while pregnant I often craved a bunnings hot dog too! I never did end up eating one though, just couldnt bring myself to do it. Re the sleeps, maybe Lewis is just having a growth spurt? LMAO at your suggestion to MD to accidently draw on her DH's face in perm marker!
Clare - Haha had to laugh at you hiding yourself away on bellybelly while you have guests.
Falguni - Welcome.
MD - I remember how mean us girls can be from primary school! Its terrible isnt it! Whoa I'd be punching back lol.
Noni - Hope you get the house!!!!!!!! Sounds promising so far.
Trillian - You are braver than me thats for sure. No way I'd be holding onto a scary sheepie!
Arte - What kind of family meals do you make that you can use with Will too? I am lacking ideas!
Pregpan - YUMO! Did you get the museli & fruit compotes from AK book? I have been meaning to make AK's zucchini fritters for about a week now. Have you tried them?
Lil Rachee - I am planning on introducing Maddie to egg in pikelets, but if you arent ready for that yet you can use the yolks I think? Sorry not much help!!
Jazmum - Sorry to hear about Hannah, hope the AB's work. Maddie's breathing seems to be ok, she just coughs and coughs. I will watch her tummy like your doc suggested. Gosh I feel so bad, I should have taken her to the doc last Friday. Now I have to work tomorrow, my mum is coming to babysit as I cant send her to care like this. I feel SO guilty but if I dont work tomorrow its two weeks of low pay due to having last Mon off. If I miss even one day the daycare works out to cost more than I earn. However if she doesnt seem to have improved by tomorrow too bad I will take the day off so we can go to the doctors!
I will try to post a pic of my new hair this week, I havent taken any yet and I'm looking pretty feral at the moment!
-
Hayley, if its viral there isn't anything they can do for her other than keep her as comfortable as you can, keep her fluids up and use panadol and vicks etc when you need it. If it is an infection/bronchiolitis they can at least give you some abs for it.
Gracie, I would get the car seat, he will still be in it for ages yet because once he's a toddler his weight will slow down dramatically - they only put on 1-2kg a year from around 12mths onwards (although some kids will put on more/less etc). Plus he will have it for when the next grandbaby comes along too ;)
Cally, do you have any plans for Wednesday then?
Clare, I am not fit at all. I don't help out nearly as much as I used to with the sheep. IKHYF about the tummy bug - it ripped through here last week too. Good thing Leila didn't get it.
Ange, great to see you pop in! How is L going?
Noni, fingers crossed that this is "THE ONE" and you don't hve to look for a new place anymore.
-
hey everyone
thanks for all the finger crossing surely with that many fingers crossed we must get it?? lol hoping to hear something today... i hate the whole process so much because i feel so anxious the whole time i just cant relax sitting round thinking will we or wont we get a house this time...
ughh asha and i still have the flue.. i think asha is mostly better though u can still kinda hear it in her voice.. no wake ups till 6am today which helps me but i do admit the last two days in a row i have given her dimetap and nurofen before bed because the two nights before that she was up most the night screaming.. will see how she goes today and maybe we can go without it..
have to take her to the gp today anyway because she has what looks like staff in her nappy rash.. just a very mild case but after what happened to my friends bub i wanna catch it early if thats what it is and avoid the hospital stay at all costs!!
haley - hope maddie gets better asap
gracie - ohhh dont you hate it when that happens you think oh finally i have some help with bub and then they are a perfect angel and you look like youv exagerated what youve been telling them
cassius - wow gastro eek lucky leila didnt catch it too.. glad you feel back to normal too.. :)
falguni - ofc we dont mind!! welcome back :)
hi to everyone else might go n have some breakfast seems to help when i eat something, dosnt help the nerves though grrrr..
-
morning everyone...
ange good to see you, tell us all about your littly!! and yourself of course. look fwd to getting to know you!
clare - was wondering where you were, and also hoping you would be in canb soon so we could all catch up! i am so sorry you guys had the gastro, but thank goodness leila escaped it - i was just thinking last night how good it isnoah has been over it for a while now, it was so awful. are you and lorenzo back to normal now? LOL at escaping the guests!!! i sometimes 'check my work email' when ppl are here... and really i am seeing what you guys havebeen up to!!
Noni - fingers crosed for the house - let us know!
Sherie - oops i think i thought you biught a bulldozer (a rreal one) for the farm for P's bday!! ha ha! iw as thinking she at least needed something to play with and her own would be a good idea!!! L wont be able to tell her what to do now she will have her own! that's GREAT!
MM - hope M feels better soon. Dr told us to raise one end of N's cot when he is sniffly so the phlegm doesnt run down their throat as much. i did that this week as N has been sniffly and it has helped. BTW what brand of vaporisers do you guys have - we have one but it doesnt do much so we are looking for a new one.
ok so abasic download of the outlaws visit - well it went well and i enjoyed their company EXCEPT FLI spilt coffee all over N (and then baged his head into a window)!!! I was furious as i had been warning him. we were at a cafe (while DH was at work) and FIL was holding N. coffees arive i tell him to put N back in pram or push coffee away and we will takeit in turns.. i get the 'he's fine' line. i insist but he does nothing and proceeds to drink the coffee while holding N. Puts coffee down and N of course leans straight over and tips it. whole cup everywhere includingover N. luckily it had cooled down a bit so he was not scalded but i was furious. N started crying and so I had my arms out to hold him - FILkept hold of him!!! then he was olding him near the window (which N loves) to calm him down i told himto watch out and make some distance as N will not know it is a window and will bang head... 'he's fine!' - and then BANG!!! poor little man has a little bruise!!! his first!! i was unimprssed!! they never mentioned it to DH.... of course i did, he had an sms about that before we even paid the bill LOL!!! as did my SIL!! ha ha!! oh there are so many other stories. i cooked a great meal on wed night (after work) for them - a rack of lamb, garlic mash, roast tomatoes and then blintzes for dessert (trad jewish desert) and the compkiment at the end of the night 'thanks for filling our bellies!!' WTF!!! then MIL on phone to her sister says 'we had a great day with Noah and DH!' Ummm, where was I???!!!! DH was at work!!! there, vent over! ia m actually really clsoe with them but they p*ss me off so much at times and lets face it i was looking for probs this time as i didnt want them to come!!
Umm recipes - for pikelets i use egg in them, 1 for the whole recipe so for us it is a good way to intro them slowly. I make them with 1 cup wholemeal flour, 1 tsp baking pwdr, 1.5 tbsp raw sugar (i sometimes just put fruit puree in instead of sugar), 1/3 cup milk and 1 egg. sift dry ingredients, whisk in wet ingredients and cook in medium hot pan. yummo. N loves them. i freeze them seperately and then can take one out and pop in handbag when go out, they defrost quickly and well.
the pear, oat and rasp loaf is from bill granger...
topping - make like crumble using 1/4 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tbl plain flour and 25g butter
cake - 1 cup rolled oats (soak in 1 1/2 cups boiling water), 150g unsalted butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup caster sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp nat vanilla, pinch salt, tsp baking powder, 2 ripe pears peled cored and chopped, 1/2 cup raspberries (i used frozen)
Make cake by placing oats in bowl and pouring over water, stir well and leave til luke warm. cream butter and sugars in bowl til light and creamy. add eggs beating in b/n each one. mix in vanilla. sift in dry ingredients and the drain any excess water off oats (there wont be much) and add. fold to combine. Spread 2/3 mix into loaf pan, sprinkle with pears and raspberries and then add the rest of the batter. sprinkle evenly with topping. Bake 180 deg for 70 mins or until skewer comes out clean. turn onto a plate and quickly turn other way on wire rack to cool with topping facing up. serve warm with butter.
the corn fritters were also a bill granger recipe and the fruit compote i made up. I think someones asked if they were annabel karmel? good idea as the muesli i made was not baby friendly so poor N missed out (and was not happy about that)!! i dint think i have a baby muesli recipe so if anyone hasone - pls share!!!
-
Fruity baby muesli (From AK) 30g rolled oats, 30g toasted wheatgerm, 1 dried apricto ro pear chopped, 1 tbsp sultanas, 150mL white grape juice or apple juice, 1/2 red apple peeled and grated, 3 grapes, halved and deseeded.
Soak oats, wheatgerm, apricot and sulanas in juice overnight. Add apple and grapes in the morning and blend (unless bubs can chew). Makes 2 portions.
Oh dear, it's time for swimming, gotta go!
Will try and do some personals later.
-
Clare, with the salt and chilli thing I just make sure I take out a bit for Will before I add anything too spicy eg when we had nachos I took out some mince before I added the flavor packet and I don't usually add much salt while cooking, although I have relaxed a bit on that since he eats a big mouthful of playdough at playcentre twice a week so I don't think a little bit in his food will make much of a difference.
Hayley, for family meals we just give him whatever we have, I just make sure we have mild curries like Korma or Butter Chicken or make Thai red curry with cream to make it milder. We usually have meat + pasta/rice/potatoes + veges so he just gets a bit of everything. I have been making slow cooker stews which make the meat really soft and he loves carrots when they are cooked in something (not a fan of them plain).
Noni, glad you had a better night. Hope you hear good news about the house today
Pregpan, glad you survived the outlaws visit. I would have been very p!ssed if the coffee/window thing had happened to us. I love my IL's, they are really great people but it is still hard when they come. I think it is because visitors upset all the routines, it must be a lot worse if they don't listen to you. Actually, mine are really diplomatic - I don't think they agree with co-sleeping or not leaving him to cry but they don't say anything about it (at least in front of us LOL). We have BIL up for a week, I don't think he has had anything to do with kids so it will be a bit of a learning curve for him.
Sherie, you are still a heck of a lot fitter than me, I wouldn't even dream of trying to manhandle sheep - it is an effort to carry W down the street when he won't sit in the pram. And my legs are still sore from horseriding more than a week ago.
Gracie, what is the fascination with dogs feet? They are W's favourite part of the dog!
Renee, how are your cats going with Rory? Mine is getting p!ssed with her tail being pulled (although she could move out of the way instead of just standing there), luckily she hasn't scratched him yet.
Cally, hope you had fun at swimming. I miss my swimming lessons, but there aren't any here.
MD, how was your night? Hope Miss E slept well and your DH didn't feel the need to bash you.
Our nights are definitely improving, last night he slept from when he went to bed at 10pm (took me an hour to convince him it was bedtime and not playtime) until 4am, then he only needed a cuddle to go back to sleep instead of a feed. He kept waking from then until we got up, but I can live with that. I am starting to feel like I can think again, after months of waking every 1-2 hours this is like heaven.
-
Oooh Noni, I hope it isn't staph.
Pregpan, I worry about that all the time with Alister, he is so quick to reach out and grab, you can't ever be too careful. I would have been really upset and annoyed with your FIL (as you undoubtedly were). And I would stop cooking them such great meals and just order in pizza instead - what an ungrateful bunch!
Cally, that muesli sounds really yummy - might have to get the ingredients when I go to town today.
-
Those recipes look great Cally and Pregpan, i have written them down. I havn't given given her egg yet, might start this week with the pikelets. Using fruit puree is a great idea instead of sugar.
Pregpan- I have the vicks vapouriser/humidifier and it works really well. Lasts all night.
noni- i gather you are living with your folks? If you are, i sympathise. We were living with my folks when DD was born for 3 months. As much as i love my family, it is hard work. hope you get the place you applied for. Fortunalety DH got a new job, house included. What does Staph on a bubs bum look like? That would be nasty.....
Madsmum- we are sick here too. Not nice is it? Snot running like a river, night time coughing, but no temp. Like MR says not alot they can do unless it is bacterial, in which case they would most likely have a temp. Have you tried Fess saline drops and the snot sucker to clear the nose a bit? I find it helps.
Gracie- Nice sleeping big L! *jealous over here* ;) If your Dad got a Maxi Rider, it lasts from 8kgs to 26kgs, so well into toddler-dom. Toys-r-us do see Safensound although not sure if they are in the special......
Cassius- I do the same as you, dish up food for L, then add salt chilli etc. I did give her some soup with stock in it the other day. I'm not sure on how much salt is too much IYKWIM. I have been meaning to make some stock and freeze it, but just havn't got around to it!
Trillian- When i was studying at Uni, i would help DH on the farm in the holidays, one year we marked 10,000 lambs. :o If i don't mark another lamb for 10 years it would be too soon. 30 kg's is a big lamb!
We are mostly doing very well aroud here, thanks for asking. The last few nights have been a bit of a disaster sleep wise, but it is improving. The little lady has 4 teeth and i think more on the way. She is pulling herself up and wobbling along behind her trolley, we have had more eggs, bumps and bruises in the last few weeks than i know what to do with! The poor little thing. Maybe she should wear a helmet.

I just made pikelets with the yolks and they worked fine.
Lil Rachee - I had already introduced yolk to K by hardboiling and then mixing yolk with avocado on toast.
Arte - you're a busy poster! Glad W's sleeping is getting better. I'm going to do some stews next week so K can start eating more of our meals as at the moment we have mainly stirfries. We had sausage casserole the other night and that was a big hit.
Pregpan - great idea re fruit puree instead of sugar. I just added grated fruit last time I made pikelets and it worked OK. Might try the puree next time. Must be nice having the house to yourselves again. We have vicks vapouriser too.
Noni - fingers crossed for the house.
Welcome Ange!
Trillian - no plans for Wed yet. Might try out a new recipe for dinner.
MM - hope Maddie gets better soon. Putting the end of the cot up sounds like a good idea (although is she is anything like K she'd end up with the snot running to her head the amount she moves around)
MD - glad you are going to QE2. It's soon isn't it?
Jazmum - poor little H, hope she is getting better. I like your idea about the memorial rock, mum planted a special bush over her cat when it died last year.
Clare - yucky gastro, glad you're on the mend.
-
WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!!!!!
wow i cant believe it i just payed our holding deposit and we are signing the lease on thursday!!!
ange - yep living with my dad and his g/f and its tiny where we are no room to do anything everythings always a mess coz we have no where to put anything etc etc!! staff well i think it just looks like tiny red blisters.. asha looks better this morning so i am not convinced anymore..
anyways i am off too excited to type hehehehehe
-
WOO HOO NONI!!!!!:happyforyou: that is awesome news. way to go!!
MM: the only advice i can offer re the cold is yeah the vapouriser, the fess sucker thing and raising one end of the bed (white and yellow pages are pretty handy for that kind of stuff). the only thing i can say is that this too shall pass, and little m will be much stronger for it...
thanks for the tips Arte! i have been pondering and basically flying by the seat of my pants...
LOL at the cat. i caught one of ours trying to bite leila the other day. she was chasing him around the lounge, so no doubt she was deserving it, but still...these cats have got to learn to be the bigger person in this situation LOL!!
Ange: mmm stock. wish i had the patience. i know that my DH would start to take over if i made it and probably add way too much salt...and yeah, not sure how much is safe. i know that the books say no salt, but that is pretty hard, esp when you have a DD who LOVES vegemite!
Pregpan: I know!! i was so bummed when i got sick as straightaway i knew that i couldnt go with DH...although we are planning a holiday to the gong and canberra for end of july. and we have promised ourselves more time in canberra, so we can have loads of coffee dates!! mmm, already dreaming of tosolini's italian hot chocolate....
eeeeppp! i would have been so unimpressed with the ILs too. luckily mine are on the other side of the world, so i only have to see them once or twice a year. even then, it sometimes seems to often!
Sherie: yep, we are fast recovering. i made DH go out and buy yakult to get the tummy balance right again. i seem to have recovered faster than him though. although he is a male, so maybe it's not really that bad!
ha! i cycled the 5 minutes into uni today and it almost floored me, so seriously, i am sure you are miles ahead of me!!
okay, best be dashing! chat soon!
-
CONGRATS NONI!!!!!!!!! Thats fantastic news!!! I bet you are thrilled to bits :) Now you have a place to relax, just you DP and Asha ahhhhh!!
Still trying to book Rory an appointment with the MCHN and its becoming a joke! Ive left over 3 messages now and still no return phone call! I feel better now since I have spoken to a few people, it seems to be normal. It hasnt happened since and looking back both times he was extremely tired.
And my BIL is officially dating my best friend whoohooo! They are going out to dinner Wed night and they are going AQWA with her daughter on Sun :)
Art - Glad Will is sleeping better for you :) Rory didnt understand it was bedtime last night too LOL! Archi & Milton secretly love Rory haha but they play hard to get. He pulls their tails, fur etc and they let him! I still keep a close eye on them though. Looooooove the pics of Will & his painting of FB!
Welcome Falguni!!
Pregpan - Im glad you survived your IL's visit ;) Pooooooor Noah! Was your FIL upset when he spilt coffee on N?? Its great you get along well with them though, what IL's dont give us the *****s from time to time haha. I remember my MIL telling me that Ill have deformed children if I dont eat more Veg (back when I was dating D).
Gracie - Im completely confused with the names on FB too haha, we will get there though!
Sorry better run, my girlfriend was around for HOURS and ive got sooo much to catch up on.
-
Yay Noni!! Great news on getting the house.
-
-
MD, did BFC have a good birthday? Did he get any presents?
Noni, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!:clap::clap:
Will fell off the bed today. He had a red mark but it seems to have disappeared. He always calls me when he wakes but this time he decided to go and see the heater at the end of the bed. Lucky I turned it off this morning.
-
Congratulations Noni- you wont know yourself in your on space, you can run around nude and everything! :D
Cassius- The salt thing is really hard. I was wondering if i should give her vegemite or not. I put a tiny scraping on toast for her. But alot of things have salt in them, cheese for example...... i guess that's why i though i little bit of stock would be ok.
We only had one sleep here today, it was a 2 hour one, so i guess that's not so bad, although i feel like she needs 2. She's been up since 12, watching me potter around outside making a bird feeder. Hopefully she sleeps ok tonight.
How many sleeps are you guys managing a day?
Artechim- Poor little man, hope he is ok. Last night Lu pulled a magazine off the coffee table with a coffee mug on it, the mug fell on her head and gave her a big egg. I felt so terrible. They seem to get so battered.
Trillian- i meant to say i was watching a show on TV the other night, a woman started a business making goats milk soap because it was so effective at relieving her sons eczema.
-
Just a quick post for Noni - congratulations hun!!!!! You must be soooo terribly excited. Now for the fun part - PACKING!!
-
Hello Ladies hope you are all well....
Bit of a selfish post:
Feeling like a TERRIBLE mum today. We just spent the past few hours at Princess Margaret Hospital with Maddie, she has bronchiolitis! I went to work today, while my mum babysat. I booked a doc's appt for as late as possible, at 4.45 and left work early. So off we went at 4ish and she looked and sounded terrible. Well I should have said stuff work and got an early as possible appt, because I rocked up to the doc who took one look at her chest and said she is struggling to breathe. I almost died, I felt incredibly bad. He said go to the hospital asap. She also wasnt taking any fluids or solids during the day which was extra worrying. We got to the hospital, absolutely fretting, and she was a good girl and took a bottle. Then they gave her ventalin a few times and that helped alot too. We just got home, they decided not to keep her o/night because she has started taking her bottles again. I have to keep a very close eye on her for the next few days. Sherie was it you saying a few weeks ago that a runny nose can run down into the chest and cause infections? Well thats exactly what happened to Maddie, so its a lesson learnt there for us not to take runny noses so lightly.
Must add, big congrats Noni on your house!!!!

i am pretty sure you were just talking about this butwhat do your bubs have for breakie? asha has been haviong that raffertys cereal with some pureed fruit mixed in pretty much every day.. every now n then we give her toast n vegemite but i dnt think its as filling.. yesterday i gave her weet bix with half milk half hot water and the fruit on top and she absolutely loved it.. dosnt seem to be any probs with the milk.. anyone got any other ideas or is asha doomed to eat cereal lol?? maybe theres diff cereals i could give her for some variety atleast?
oh haley your not a bad mum!! you didnt know it was serious and everything turned out ok :) sorry maddie is sick though hope she gets better asap!!
ange - asha has 2 day sleeps but they are only usually a half hour one in the morning and if i am lucky and i keep bouncing the bouncer when she looks like she might wake up in the avo she can sometimes go an hour.. i wouldnt worry 2 hours is great!!
arte - lol bloody heaters! asha is really interested in ours too even turned off grrrr... i caught asha by the ankles the other day just before her head hit the ground off the bed lol little bugger!
renee- glad your feeling a bit better about everything now.. how annoying about the health nurse not answering your calls!!
hey to everyone i missed :)

MM - poor little Maddie, hope she had a better sleep last night after the ventolin. Did they give you antibiotics as well? You're not a bad mum, it's hard knowing what to do, especially when they get sick over a weekend and you can't go to the doctor.
Noni - K has either weetbix or porridge for breakfast with fruit. If she still seems hungry after I've given her that I'll do some toast (with either vegemite or cream cheese) so she can have that as finger food. We have the Rafferty's cereals in the cupboard but as they are iron fortified we're keeping away from them (constipation). We give her straight cows milk too, don't bother watering it down.
Tried posting 3 times last night but it kept timing out on me.
Cassius - I use the salt reduced stock and do it a bit less concentrated than they recommend (ie use a bit less powder)
Falguni - we're only doing 2 sleeps now, but it's only been like that for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wake her up to go to the MHCN this afternoon if she does more than one cycle. Hopefully she'll have a power snooze in the car on the way home.
MIL rang last night and is taking us out to lunch for my birthday tomorrow which will be good.
I did a Pilates DVD this morning - then walked to the shops and bought a bag of mixed lollies! At least I did some excercise but probably didn't really need the lollies.
-
Cally - I wonder if there is something wrong with bellybelly, its been giving me problems for the past couple of days? Its been timing out on me lots too.
Noni - Maddie has been having weetbix, porridge, toast & rafferty's for breakfast too. I havent ventured much further than those lol.
I'm still very worried about Maddie, I'll wait till DP gets home from work & see what he thinks. She at least is taking bottles (only half though) but no solids at all. Just generally looking and sounding sick and miserable. As it turns out her runny nose, as initially thought, wasnt the cause for her bronchiolitis. I called daycare this morning to say she wouldnt be in, and the lady says to me oh by the way just to let you know bronchiolitis is going around the babies room atm & two were hospitalised over the past week. Great bit late for that lol. Apparently the room is down on numbers big time as all the bubs seem to have it. Also my sister just sent me a text saying she saw on the news that lots of bubs are arriving at hospital atm with bronchiolitis, so its going around here in Perth.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA again, I have skimmed the posts but there is to much to catch up on. Have been trying all day to get on but keep timing out.
Hayley sorry to hear Maddie isn't well. My fingers are crossed for a speedy recovery.
Noni congrats on the house, that's awesome news.
I'm sorry I don't have any more personals but as I said there is to much to catch up on.
What have I missed? I hope your all doing well.
Not much happening here Logan is cruising around the furniture and discovered how to get into all the cupboards and pull things out, guess its time to childproof. His second tooth popped through on Saturday so he now has half a tooth and a corner through. His poor little bum is soooo red. I have my sister coming up for a few days so I will be MIA again but promise to catch up properly next week.

Hi Girls,
Firstly Hayley- Your a wonderful Mother. WTG Daycare a phone call would have been great ... WTF Poor Maddie I hope she will be better soon...
Noni:dance::dance: Congratulations on your house... I am so very happy for you,DP and Asha.
Hi Ange
Art- Jordy fell off the bed once. Hope Will is all better now
Ozstar-Glad to hear about logan cruising around the furniture. Hope his bum gets better.
Cally- I have been having the same problem with being timed out.
Renee- Congrats to your BIL and BF.. we should all be calling you cupid now...
Well My Jordy seems to being doing much better he has been pooing every day since last friday so I am a very happy mumma atm. Olivia is now pulling herself up on things now and seems to think it funny to do it in her cot. She loves watching me walk past her room. Xavier is great and can not wait till his birthday. I still can not believe my boys will be 3 soon.. Were has the time gone. I still remember feeling them kicking me in my tummy. DH went for his consultation with the snip dr today and is now booked in to have the procedure done on the 19th Aug.
Well better go Sweet Dreams to all.

Leanne - Thats exactly what I thought about daycare!! Considering a couple of bubs were hospitalised last week and Maddie woke up Fri morning all congested. They could have made some quick phone calls to say giving you the heads up this is what is going around the babies room, so if your child gets a cold have them seen to asap. I let her go the whole weekend thinking it was a simple cold and she'd be fine! So glad Jordy is on the mend, thats a relief. Wow on Olivia pulling herself up, is she crawling?
Katie - Is it his bottom tooth coming through? How exciting! Cant believe he is cruising furniture, little explorer!
-
Hayley- Yep she is crawling now. She is really fast so I have to make sure the boys dont leave little things around. We though out most of all the small stuff but they have stuff hidden so I have to be careful. I would definately tell the daycare when you go in next that you want to be told of this stuff asap. I would tell the director too. The boys day care did that with me once with conjunctivitias. If your not sure about Maddie tonight just take her straight to the hospital. I hope she is ok. Please let me now how she is in the morning. I will be think of you.:hug:

Katie, I'm with you on the childproofing of cupboards! We had taken them all off because we didn't need them anymore, but the other day I found Alister in the tupperware cupboard LMAO. And he got into the cupboards over at the IL's the other day too.
Leanne, that's great Jordy is doing so well! Gosh I bet 3yrs has just flown by for you - next year it will be kindy for them.
Hayley, how is Maddy going now?
Alister is just into everything ATM - climbing, pulling toys out of the box and then just leaving them (buy hey, the other kids still do that LMAO), getting into the cupboards, the laundry, the TOILET. I spend a good part of the day making sure the doors are shut LOL. He is getting really cheeky too, like when he is in the bath, he has started to stand up in it (hanging onto the side) and I tell him no, sit down or you'll fall, and he usually sits down, but the other night he looked at me, smiled and the pushed off the side of the bath with his hands and splashed back down into the water and laughed - and then he did it again! he is getting quite confident with standing alone too now. Oh, and he has started this thing where he is crawling along and then all of a sudden he drops down like he has 'tripped' over and laughs - I'm sure its because the older kids will muck around falling over to make him laugh, so I think he does this to make them laugh kwim? Like he is part of the game too now. So cute to watch.
PS: There have been problems because the server that hosts the forum is being absolutely slammed ATM, so Kelly is getting a newer, bigger server to host them. You may have noticed today though that some of the features have been turned off to ease some of the congestion - the avatars, moods etc are gone for the moment. It should be fixed by today, so if you're having problems you aren't the only ones LOL.

hey everyone :)
well we sign tmw and get the keys to our new home.. if everything dosnt go well i will just die!!! feeling a bit nervous still.. have been packing n gosh is that a nightmare!!! considering we start moving tmw though its kinda important that we do it haha..
ashas gone off bottles lately shes probably only collectively drinking 2 bottles a day when u add it all together.. she gets up in the morning and i am lucky if i can get her to drink a third of her bottle before she chucks it away and winges for breakfast.. this morning i just gave her breakfast straight away and plan to give her bottle say an hour or 2 after and see if that has her drink more coz she shouldnt be expecting food at that time.. its pretty hard lol shes a guts she just wants food all the time and not bottles lol but shes only almost 9mths lol..
sherie - oh sounds like A is very clued in copying the other kids how cute!!
leanne - glad your jordy is better now!! and congrats to olivia pulling herself up. asha still cant figure it out lol..
haley - usually daycares (though i didnt work where there was a room with babies so it could be different) just put a sign up on the notice board or tell you if you go in but if you tell them specifically they might be able to call you as soon as it happens rather then after the fact..
katie - well done to logan cruising round and raiding the cupboards! lol time to childproof i am so glad we are moving coz this place its just not possible to child proof and i often turn around to find asha doing something she shouldnt be!
cally- do you only give her the milk on her cereal? i was wondering with letting asha drink it since she wont drink bottles what the go is exactly..

hi all!
i have also been having probs with BB - i did a big post yesterday morning and it seems to have been lost and then when i tried to get back on later it timed me out every time! v frustrating!
Anyway - sounds like MM you are having a tough time, my post yest was mainly telling you not to beat yourself up about it.... i hope Maddie is doing better today? When i was in melb at xmas time heaps of the bubs had just had bronciolitis (they were all about 5 months) so it is v common and so completely not your fault. the day care def should have let you know - that isterrible i would def have a word with them.
noni - wooo hooo on the house! congrats! wil be great to be in your own space. is it close to where you are now? i hope yiu will still be able to see your friend up the road etc. for bfast i usually give N oats and fruit (sometimes baby oats - bellamys - and sometimes normal oats). this week he is having weetbix and milk (i also just use full cream milk, a little bit) and he usually munches on a cruskit after his cereal. sometimes i do yoghurt and fruit and sometimes he also has some cheerios as finger food. bfast isnt his fave meal though. you could also make fruit pikelets or corn fritters or something if she wold prefer to feed herself. though personally i think it is ok for them to always have cereal for bfast?? of course once eggs are ok hard boiled egg or an omeltte will be a great option or french toast. wrt the cows milk - i think it is ok for cooking/in food but not as a main drink til 12 months? i may be wrong though as i am still bfeeding so havent really looked into it all properly.
hi katie - have fun with your sis!
not much news here, noah is going through such s gorgeous stage with so much giggling and being interactive. no sign of crawling yet - but i am not so worried about it, though he would look v funnynext to all your bubbas whi are cruising and moving around so much!! his fave time of the day seems ot be just before hos shower when we get im naked and he rolls all overour bed. he squeals with delight!
-
Hi Girls! Wowsers, alot has been going on (including with the BB site!).
MM: oh dear! you guys are having it pretty rough ATM. and seriously, there's really nothin you could have done to stop maddie from getting Bronchilitis (sp?) (except maybe wrapping her up in cotton wool and never ever leaving the house!! LOL!!). bubs get sick, we get sick, it sucks but doesnt mean that we are bad people! man, i still remember the 'chicken pox' parties that our parents used to hold so all us kiddlywinks would get them!!
Pregpan: sometimes i wish that leila wasnt crawling! she is getting into everything...including the dog and cats bowls...egad.
Noni: yeah we have cereal (raffertys or weetbix) with fruit. or sometimes ricotta with fruit, or yoghurt with fruit (notice a trend here LOL!). then we follow it with a piece of toast with either avo or vegemite...she loves it.
he he he with the moving. we just did a mammoth move from canberra in january, so i pity you with the packing and unpacking. although our packing experience was pretty funny as we were using the same company as kevin rudd, so we got all of his old boxes that he used to move into the lodge!! unfortunately we didnt find anything exciting hidden away...
Leanne: wtg to little jordy! it must be so much more comfortable for him. so i guess time just keeps on going faster the older they get...3 wowsers, i just cant imagine leila not being a bub, although she is reminding me everyday of what a big girl she is becoming! it must be really exciting watching them grow and becoming into their own looks and personality....
Sherie: Alister sounds like the greatest bub! what a sense of humour! leila is also getting into the whole splashing back into the water thing which has my heart skip...oh the stress begins...how will i be when she brings home a snot faced boy with a motorbike...
here things are good. like pregpan said about Noah, leila is going through a fantastic period, giggling, laughing, trying out new things, bashing toys across every surface to see and hear how they sound. terrorising the animals, stealing pens...you know, the usual stuff. she is also doing loads of 'talking'. she is trying so hard to engage us in conversation and i think she finds us droll in not being able to keep up.
this saturday we are off to an italian playgroup (egad!!). DH signed her up, so we'll see how that goes. i had better brush up on my lingo...
hope all is well for everyone (or improving!!).
big hugs to Maddie  get better soon girl! :)
